It’s very simple. You kill every creature in Tyria, you check the dead corpses, hopefully there will be a precursor in the batch. If there isn’t, kill everything you can find and look again!

Good luck everyone on getting your precursors!

Why anet is awesome

They actually listen to their community.

You might not believe me but here are some things you just can’t argue against.

1. Look at the arah gates. They are never closed and the wp is not inside the gates. Thanks Anet.

2. Pve, pvp, wvw all need to be balanced. They are now splitting the 3 to help make all the classes even. Thanks Anet.

3. Dungeons. You want them to be harder? You got it. They are too easy? You got it. You want them revamped? You got it. You need something nerfed? You got it. Now before I go any further with this I’ll just say they only nerfed the things that people really had problems with. Simin and the OLD effigy come to mind. With res rushing removed, the dungeons are focused on skill and not patience. Thanks Anet.

4. Legendaries are too plain you say? No? Well that’s what people WERE saying a few months ago. Now we have giant flying rainbow unicorns and disco balls rolling around in WvW making the place classy and flashy. Loving it. Thanks Anet.

5. New and awesome content like the karka event and the super adventure box. Keeping the game fresh. Even when something bugged out and messed up the event anet came to the rescue with the karka chests in the mail sent to all those effected. Thanks Anet.

6. This game is pay for cosmetics not pay to win. Sure you may not want to have to buy gems with rl money AND you want the skin, well guess what, YOU DON’T HAVE TO! You’re actually able to get everything in this game with in-game currency. Thanks Anet.

7. There is no monthly subscription fee. Without that point I’d never have played this game. Thats Anet.

Now if you go ahead and look at something like league of legends, where the companies don’t give a crap about their players, you’ll realize just how good we have it.

1. Every champion in the game is locked from the player when they start the game. You are able to unlock champions as you go along but in the beginning you’re very limited to whatever they let you play for the first long while.

2. Every other week or so they release a new champion. Problem is, every new champion has been costing 6300, something that is practically unobtainable for the average player. Players were asking since the trend on 6300 on every champion to lower it so the average player could be able to own the character they want to play when they want to play it.
So far Riot has released 2 champions at 7800.

3. Almost all the time, their new champions are release a little op so that everyone would rush to grab it. After a few weeks, they’d balance the class but that’s only after they got their money off the general public.

4. The only possible way to get anything cosmetic in the game is with real life money. There is no in-game currency exchange rate for their goods.

5. The game is pay to win. If you want to get an advantage at the start of any game ala higher stats and such, you get these upgrades from their store (luckily with in game currency) BUT, you only get access to 1 page of these stat upgrades. That’s fine and dandy if you only play one character, but in a game with hundreds, you’ll need multiple pages. THAT you get with rl money.

Tldr, Just happy Anet is not anything like Riot games. Makes this game for fun and less of a chore to play. I don’t feel like I’m going to get left behind if I don’t play for a few days.

Thief haters, take this wisdom from a dev :)

If you see this i’d love to hear you reply on the following. Also thanks for posting in here, really interesting to see a developers thoughts on thieves.

So something I think contributes to most of the hate is because in order for thieves to do that amount of damage, it requires a slightly low skill cap (as in it is not hard to get the hang of doing ) while counting it can require a slightly high skill cap (as in players need to know how to predict, dodging mechanics, timing, etc). This on top of you need to be actively paying attention to a thief in a battle (which can be hard on large scale battes in 8v8 or wvw).

Those two things I believe contribute to the hate they receive, and it wont stop imo. Everytime theres a new player, they’re going to jump into a battle and take 10K+ damage from a target. Now this new player lets say has 16k HP. In their eyes they just had someone take out more than half their hp “in seconds”, leading them to believe that thief is op followed by rage post on the forums.

SO thiefs can do that amount of damage and it is easy to counter, its a bit harder to counter for new players or in large scale battles, those are at least what I hear from people who get angry at thiefs. Do you agree or disagree? Do you think the thieves maybe should be slowed down in that dps build or perhaps make it easier to spot through animations what they are doing.

I agree with you that thieves aren’t insanely op in tPvP. However, they reiceve a lot of complains in spvp and WvW and I think should be looked at in some way.

This is probably the most well written post about why thieves wreck in wvw that I’ve seen so far. Only 1 comment. Why should the developers of the game balance the game around bad players when they could balance the game around what each class can do? They have it so any class can counter any class. It’s up to the player to make use of those skills. This is a skill based game so the player who is able to execute their skills better SHOULD win.

Granted there are the cases like this where the more skilled player can easily lose but that’s mostly due to gear. GC thieves will keep wrecking other glass cannons as long as they get the jump on them and the other player not responding correctly. Same is said for how bunker/ret guardians/eles will continue to wreck glass classes. Some is working as intended, some is being fixed with boon hate.

One quick question about your engi though. Why does no one complain about flame thrower 2? Seriously, that ability deals more direct damage than backstab and is yet another ability that deals that kind of spike damage at range.

What you're saying when you make an lfg.

When you say no noobs, what you’re really saying and expressing to the community is that you are indeed a noob and in need of a good carrying.

Saying anyone welcome says you’re confident in your skills and have faith that anyone can be a good player if given the chance to learn and excel.

If someone straight up says it’s their first time doing a dungeon it means that they know they aren’t going to be amazing but they are willing to listen and learn. If you’re willing to be patient with me you might get a gem in the future, but for right now I’m a clump of coal waiting to be molded.

Saying zerker warrior only, link all gear, blah blah blah means, “This is my first character, I have no idea what other classes are or what they can do but they aren’t as good as me. I am da best and you all suck. Profanity. You’re all dumb cause you’re not my class with my build. I am the king of the universe.”

When I’m in a pt with 2 rangers and a necro I usually dread what’s going to come next but that doesn’t mean I’m going to leave the pt or kick anybody. Give those guys a chance, there might be a reason those guys are on those classes. They might know something you don’t and make something go super easy. This isn’t guaranteed for sure but everyone deserves a chance to proves themselves. Don’t judge it before you see it in action.

Sorry if some of you guys didn’t like what I had to say but please keep in mind I’m not saying anything against you, I’m just letting you know what king of message your post is giving to other players.
