You guys on NA or EU?

I’ve been using WTFAST for GW2 since launch and even for many other MMOs. I do get disconnections when using it but on rare occasions. Its not something WTFAST can solve. I tend to believe the problem is on game server side. When i do get disconnected its mostly when every other person online in my guild also disconnects at that same moment.
There was a thread way back regarding usage of WTFAST and i think a Dev responded saying its safe to use these programs as long as it doesn’t mod the game play in anyway. So go ahead and use it, i would say take a month’s subscription and try it out so see if it helps reduce the dcs.

IMO, in order to attain a Legendary weapon, ANET should have made players slog to get it right from the very beginning. Since nothing tops a legendary weapon currently ingame, it should have been an extremely rare item. But its more of a common thing right now.
Also, RNG’n for precursors was totally a wrong concept and people still complain they haven’t got a precursor since GW2 launched.

ANET should have just implemented this system way back when GW2 first released and made this the only possible way to get a precursor. That way people wouldn’t get used to saying, “its better buying from TP after collecting cash”.

I’m getting packet loss on Anet’s servers. Not that i’m having huge lag spike, just getting these irritating disconnections during fractals and boss runs.

True its the same thing. However, I did try changing the settings at the Power Options at first before un-parking to check the performance and can confirm that i had better fps increase when i actually un-parked them. Windows is so screwed up.

I had recently done some reading around on fps issues in MMOs and made up a small list of things that could help out in fps.
Please note, below mentioned fix-ups was done by me based on several comments i dug up from the other MMOs.
Used to have terrible fps 10-15 average and got sick of it. With the below steps, I was able to get 75 fps (Character at stand still in LA), 40-45 fps (Character/Camera in motion in LA), 30-35 fps at World Bosses on high settings. I haven’t tried WvW yet as I’m taking a break from that section of the game.

System Specs : Core i7 3770k @ 3.5Ghz, H100i CPU cooler, 32gb RAM, Nvidia 670GTX, 512GB SSD (Game installed on SSD) Desktop is on 24/7 and is yet to be shutdown.

1. Un-parked my CPU cores. (People say its not safe to do this. I thought it couldn’t harm the CPU. Took a risk and have yet to see any problems.)
2. Overclocked my CPU to 4.5 GHz (Mobo had pre-setup OC values for each 0.5GHz increase. Please google on your CPU for safe levels of OC. Do not overdo it.)
3. Change Nvidia Global settings "Ambient Occlusion " – Disabled, “Power management mode” – Prefer Maximum Performance, “Texture filtering – Trilinear optimization” – On
These same settings are applicable for Nvidia Program Settings also.
4. In-game : Disable “Vertical Sync”, “Frame limiter” – Unlimited. You may also reduce your graphics detail settings to Medium/Low if you don’t really care about the detailed graphics.
5. Clean you graphics and CPU fans. (If you have dust on it, clean it now! Make sure your PC can ventilate the hot air)

Optionals : (Have not tried these yet)
1. Run the game on Windows XP compatibility setting. (Some people claimed this worked for them, some said it didn’t have any change)
2. Overclock graphics card (Not really required as the game is CPU dependent, but who knows?)
3. Buy a better CPU (Just for GW2? Yea right!)

• Un-parking and OC’in, try them at your own risk. If your not an expert, please google before you go ahead on these 2 steps. There is a lot of information on them.

Don’t do all the above together at one go and run the game. Load the game after each step to see if it makes a difference. You may/may not require all the steps to be done to get a better fps.

I guess EU would be a better option. I don’t know how Indian ISP’s would fare in GW2 knowing that the routing is all screwed up there. You might have to use a tunneling software for a reduced lag experience.

I’ve bought this game since the day it released and have never been on a break/long lay-off from it. Its been the only MMO i have played since release and liked every second i have spent on it. When they released the pre-purchase of HoT (which i saw from office), i decided the moment i got home, i would buy the ultimate pack and i did. I didn’t have to think twice about the price considering i have played other MMOs which were good but were mostly a “PAY 2 WIN” model.
For the people who are saying its robbery for veterans and they are not thinking about us old players, how many of you have blew up real cash for in-game items over the past 3 years? I know some of you are willing to buy the expac but are holding out till you get more details. Fair enough. But, what made you buy GW2 when it first released? All they showed was a trailer and some class details on the web page. Yet when the game released, they drew in a huge crowd. Its the same thing whats happening with HoT only now they have given more details compared to when the original game was released.

Its a no-brainer, ANET needs money (including our money) to run the company, their servers, hire staff etc. which is why i didn’t think twice about buying Ultimate. I don’t spend real cash in-game thanks to the gold-gem conversion. So i thought, they need the money and i played my part in supporting the game.

If ANET was really greedy, they would have;
1. Changed their MMO model to a “Pay 2 Win”.
2. Remove the gold to gems conversion system in-game and tell people to use real money instead to buy stuff from the gemstore.
3. Put in a monthly subscription.

Looking at other MMOs, there is a lot of player base that would accept such kind of changes/game model listed above and ANET would have made a heap of cash. Instead they chose not to go that route and I just hope they never will.
Considering the limited income coming from this game, its shocking that they actually managed to release an expansion ( yes it did take 3 years )

People who are complaining, you guys should stop, take it easy on the staff and think from their point of view. They have to keep existing players happy, bring in new players and run their company. Its never an easy job. Some decisions they make will be a boon, some will be a bane. Maybe for some reasons they just couldn’t release the expac alone. What they want more is to increase player base which is why they included the game along.
Past 3 years veterans have only been complaining/demanding left and right which is normal in any game and that doesn’t help them. Yes, some may be sensible complaints which they try to help/patch up and some are out right nonsense which i have read. You guys wanted an extra slot for standard? Why couldn’t you just buy it off the gem store when it was on sale after the Revanent release details? You didn’t want to back then, now you will have to wait till its on sale again if ANET doesn’t decide to add it to the standard version.

I’m not here to defend ANET, but i want to thank them for keeping me hooked on this game for 3 years and i hope they continue to do so regardless of the ups and downs come what may.
