We didn’t break free of hobosacks. While many of us were quietly enjoying them, a howling mob tore them from our backs and saddled us with an incomplete looking flamethrower, an entirely idiotic bomb kit, and a tookit that is less “kit” and more “wrench.”
I like my function gyro buddy right where he is.
Actually, I’ve had an issue or two with Healing Turret as well. Sometimes, I drop it, and activate it, and it either takes its sweet time activating, or simply does not, though it activates the cooldown.
Worse, when I try to detonate reflexively for a burst of healing? If the field hasn’t gone off, I utterly waste the thing. I don’t really see people talking about this, so I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong.
I have not tested it, but devs stated that regen don’t activate it (but they didn’t say anything about regenerator backpack, soothing mist or guardian regen that probably DO activate it).
Still it is probably one of the worst trait available (well the whole line is kidna bad for healing purposes)
How the new content feels to me:
I have a swiss army knife. Anet says to me, “Hey, we’re going to give you some new stuff! It will be awesome!” Anet takes my swiss army knife and smashes it with a rock. Anet gives me a spork from taco bell, a butter knife, and a rusty oversized can opener.
I have new stuff though!
So long as vertical progression is not tied to raids. I work crazy hours. I’m not going to ever be part of a regular raid group, and often don’t have stretches that would allow for me to raid.
I won’t play a game where I can’t fight my way to top gear level without being involved in a raid community. It isn’t fun feeling like a second-tier customer.
If there is no mechanical gear advantage from raiding? Knock yourselves out, have a blast. Have fun. More power to you, I couldn’t care less that I can’t raid, if my gear is EVERY bit as good.
Build: Ascended dire armor/weapons, rabid trinkets. Basic P/S condi, nades/toolkit/elixir gun/mortar|supply drop.
Problem: Learning to WvW. Despite having a fairly defensive set up, I get run over in seconds by bursty builds. Most recent point of annoyance? Blind sided by longbow ranger. Rapid fire, knock down, and I’m half dead. Feel pretty lame getting destroyed without even really getting to fight back beyond a few shots.
No idea how to address it, happens so fast, it feels like they’ve won before I’ve even tried to do anything.
You know, we’ve got gender-mystifying plant people and whatever the heck are going on with Char. On top of the teetering-on-the-brink-of-ragnarok thing Tyria has going on, people in character probably have waaaay bigger things and clearer lines to draw than this issue.
I remember a line from an old Shadowrun book’s RP materials- racial tension had all but disappeared- why are you worried about someone’s skin color with that THING over there has hands the size of your head?
Man, this little robot just walked in my room, waving its cute tube arms and blaring “DANGER, DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER.” …wonder why? I was just reading this thread.
“I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: ‘O Lord make my enemies ridiculous.’ And God granted it.” – Voltaire.
You can take that one for whatever side you like. I love you knuckleheads.
Maybe the solution is making people tougher, or all damage weaker. I’ve got a build with toughness/vitality as secondaries on most gear, and a kitten -ranger charging out of a zerg blasting rapid fire makes me feel like I’m wearing tissue paper.
Bursty power grossly overwhelms baseline defenses in such a way that I can’t really see any inequity in condi builds essentially doing the same thing.
Private company, their choice. You can’t cope? Vote with your feet. Welcome to freedom-ville. Population, Anet.
Meh, can’t bring myself to be enthusiastic or concerned. It was done well, and isn’t jammed down our throats. I can see why some are reacting however- on some games, you’ll get posters making howling threads about how, if their particular demographic isn’t represented immediately, it means the dev supports bigotry.
That particular fork-in-brain nonsense makes people edgy and prone to overreacting when things like this happen. But really, that isn’t what happened in this case.
Best part about it for me? Next time one of those “If you don’t support my cause and concede to my thuggery, you are the ENEMY” pieces of crap roll in to town, there’s a nice, clear, unquestionable, tastefully done rebuttal to their particular brand of stupid.
And that’s worth every bit of code.
Still getting the same error. Any chance this is being looked in to?
Went for a more armored look, with a wing theme.
Subterfuge Hood
Sneakthief Shoulderguards

Accursed Vambraces

Swindler Boots
(Phoenix pistol and shield)
Same. Submitted a bug report on it, it has been going on for a few days at least! Would like this fixed please!
Hello, much like the above posters, my account was looted by a hack. Though support has gotten the account back, I haven’t heard back regarding my request for a restoration.

Thank you.
Just an FYI – It would take me less time in Wow to get a full set of current tier raid gear then it would for me to craft 1 set of ascended in GW2.
This is also assuming I would be playing wow VERY VERY casually and at my own time schedule and pace.
Wow is the most casual game on the market atm – so using that as an example is a very poor choice.
I have never found this to be the case. To be current at the highest tier in WoW required access to a regular heroic raiding guild. That simply is not an option for many people, myself included. Be it scheduling, or even simple motivation/enjoyment.
If you are fortunate to have the time/connections that would allow you to piggyback on a raid and have free pick on gear, then, yes, you could very likely gear faster than in GW2. But in the time I did seriously raid, fully gearing took far longer. Even in MoP, while more forgiving in many aspects, I was never able to gear up as effectively as I am able to slowly work towards in GW2.
It isn’t a bad example. Because it is a direct “this is exactly my case” example. I also know from my peers that play games that I’m not an exception to the rule. Most such players likely don’t post on the forums, however- the two posts I’ve made in this thread are my first on these forums ever, for example.
For myself, or someone in anything like my situation, GW2’s system is substantially more rewarding. I can largely play by my own terms, and advance to the highest level of gear. Unless heroic raid level gear is now dropping in LFR? That will never be an option in WoW.
I disagree with some of the assertions made here.
I vastly prefer the systems in place in GW2 for gear advancement to the traditional environments. One reason I stopped playing other MMOs is that my responsibilities prevent me from being able to make regular runs or raids. Games that require such in order to advance create a big, impassable wall for me.
GW2 allows me to slowly plug away at crafting, and even work towards a legendary. I will be mechanically on par with other players. I can’t say the same for other MMOs- I can get in a distant proximity to heroic raiders in WoW, for example, but when push comes to shove the difference is incredibly stark.
In the long run, that state eventually makes me disillusioned with that sort of set up. I have not experienced that in GW2 in the last almost year and a half. This, along with always being able to find a way to have fun when I log in, keeps me coming back.
