You are always going to have a server thats better than the other two.
Not always by as big a margin but someone has to win.
I was on a server that was dominating in the bottom tier but i moved to a more balanced one.
Its not fun if you are either owning or getting owned but thats just the way it is.I don’t see how it can get fixed.
I transfered and i’m happy and i don’t see myself having to move again in the near future.
I suggest you transfer to a world in tier 6 if you’re an NA player or tier 7 if you’re in Europe.
They seem quite balanced atm.
Kazhiel, I deleted it. It annoyed me. I appreciate the forum is filled with these (a lot of them I have read) but I also know that people like to share their experience, and I am very grateful. I am keen to get as much info as I can and people, generally, are happy to help.
Also, it’s not compulsory for you to reply. If it is that tiring then don’t bother reading it, definitely don’t bother writing in it. Seems very contradictory.
Thanks to the rest of you for being helpful.
Oh I’m happy to help which is why I directed you to the place where you can answer your own questions and why I’m still here writing. Just seems pretty silly to make a post asking the same generic question as other posts you’re saying you’ve read. Mesmer is one of the most complicated classes to play, there are so many little things you can do with traits and weapon combos that would make absolutely no sense to you as a new player and if a person tried to detail them here would turn into an epic novel of gibberish. You’re better off just going to the guide section and reading Lazy Kai’s guide to lvling and Mr Prometheus complete Mesmer guide. The traits you use lvling will probably be completely different than what you use at end game bordering on not making much difference because lvling in this game is so easy. I was lvl 80 long before I ever made it into the lvl 80 maps. Besides most of the 75-80 maps are full of icky undead things and not real pleasant to visit anyway lol. Just go play your char and explore the maps, try out the different weapons and get a feel for how the game works. If you’re on Yak’s holler and I can tour you around some time, I have several alts I’m lvling.
I kind of agree with the op.
Most builds and posts are for level 80 and without searching through a whole bundle of crap its hard to find a good noob guide.I’m sure some exist but the topics at the top like shatter cat and show your mesmer ,aren’t going to help a new player.
Good simple advice like a few people have posted in this thread is going to help noobs more.
“Use this weapon/offhand as its best for early levels”,“put trait points here first” , “don’t lose heart cos mesmers come into their own at x level”..All little bits of advice that aren’t always easy to find without searching a ton of posts.
“Read stickies” is an answer people give on many forums but its not always the best answer.
All i’ve done so far is level a few characters to about 23 and jump in wvw now and again.
I enjoy it but it can be frustrating when your boosted from level 10. I recently changed servers to do more wvw but have yet to find a pvp guild to help me out with the noob questions.
I really don’t have a clue how all the gear thing works in wvw as i’ve mostly just done spvp.
I’m new to wvw and i get killed in about 5 seconds But i enjoy running around with the pack and leveling at the same time.
When you reach 80 how do you go about getting gear to use in wvw?
Do you need to do dungeons?
How long does it take a casual player(like 2 or 3 hours, four days a week, maybe a long stint on my day off) to get the gear.
Thanks
I’ve enjoyed it in tier 8 and 9.
I played on whiteside ridge but moved because it seemed too one sided.
Now i’m on RoS and that is ones sided atm but there was some nice battles last week.
Seems they will both be in tier 1 next matchup and then probably drop quite a bit.
I’d rather play in the lower tiers tbh.
I switched to RoS.
Only played for about 30 or 40 mins but there was a lot of nice fights going off and seems more balanced looking at the map.
I didn’t know i could stay in my guild if i switched servers and play on WSR when guesting becomes available , so i learned something new and found a good wvw server tonight.
Hi
I’ve not been playing very long and currently on Whiteside Ridge.
I joined a guild but nobody seems to chat and it looks like the leader is leaving anyway due to rl issues.
I really wanted to play wvw when i bought the game but when i join i feel very lost.
We seem to dominate now GH have moved up and the server is friendly but i’m wondering if i’m best moving somewhere else.
Am i right in thinking if we do win the tier we might not go up? I’m a bit confused about the whole thing:P
I don’t want to join a top tier realm but i was looking at Ruins or Surmia because they seem a good wvw server in a lower tier and a medium pop.
I’m just looking for a server and guild where the wvw is organised and we don’t totally suck and where people chat sometimes and maybe do some pve.
Any recommendations?
The answer to that would be soccer
I’m enjoying ranger, although i am mainly playing with axe/torch and greatsword.Bit of shortbow in pvp sometimes.
I’m having fun.I made one of every class and did a bit of pvp on them all and decided i liked ranger best.
So its not the worst class for everyone.
I’d like to earn the gear by playing games. Not a massive grind but a progression that was fairly fast, say a couple of weeks and you got stronger with each piece you got.
Some would call it a grind and it would make it unfair at first but it gives a reason to A. get to 80 and B. do pvp.
Jumping in with full equal gear was something i thought would be a good idea and maybe in wow it would be, as there are a bigger variety of bgs and modes. But the pvp gets old fast in GW due to fast paced games and the small number of maps.
I’m no wow fanboy.I don’t play atm but i wish GW would take the best aspects of that game and it would be the best mmo ever.
Just my opinion and just what would improve the game for me but others will disagree and thats fine.
I too am a bit disappointed with the pvp although i haven’t done a lot.But that is because what i have done hasn’t thrilled me.
A player that knows his stuff will own you. There is skill.
But in warcraft you couldn’t really own even the nubest of nubs without trying(gear being equal).
But in this game i find myself owning people with simple combos and not really understanding the class. There seems some builds and skills where spamming and randomly dodging can get you a win.
I do enjoy some pvp but i feel there is a lack of options.Warcraft just has some many game types and bgs.
I do like the game though, especially the pve side but i think pvp is a bit lacking.
