Name: sariaru.2738
Main Character: Natalie Clawheim (Charr Ranger)
Current Region/Server: Piken Square (EU)
Interested Activities or specific things you want help with: Map Completion, Crafting, Socializing, Roleplay, Open-World PvE.
Active: Weekdays pretty often (GMT), less so on weekends.
Additional Comments: I’m pretty casual in my approach to gaming, and enjoy the non-combat oriented aspect of the game. (Like cooking! Charr in a baker’s outfit is too funny to pass up!) Also, I’m just coming back from a loooong hiatus, so I will probably look like a total nobhead for awhile until I get back into the swing of things.
Do you want to be a member of the guild Legion of Honour? Y/N: Yes, please!
Are you happy for people to contact you directly (whisper/PM) Y/N: Friends! Yeah!

Returning Player Looking For Advice:

in Players Helping Players

Hello, forums. I’m a returning player after a long period of absence (the last Living Story I played was…. Four Winds Bazaar, I think.) I’m sure a million changes have been made since then, and I’m looking to roll up a new character with these changes in mind. Before I left (for no real reason other than real life) I played a boring and rather standard plink-plink bleed-bleed Ranger. Admittedly, I’m an explorer, so I liked being able to wander around alone and I have no real sense of twitch-reflex, so plink-plinking with muh pet bear worked fine for me.

What I’m looking for is a new class to reroll and enjoy the personal story with (again).

Things I’m Looking For:
- The ability to solo easily from level 1, preferably through level 80.
- Perma-speed boost would be nice. (Is there more than one class with this now?)
- Something that can help me through those hellish jumping puzzles?!
- A class that doesn’t need StarCraft reflexes to utilize to decent efficency. I do not want to have to only press 1, and I understand that dodging is a vital part of the game.

Things I don’t Give A Skritt’s Rear End About:
- Dungeons, zerk/speed or otherwise.
- WvW/PvP
- Big exploding numbers. Obviously killing things faster means I get back to map completion faster, but I don’t want to be a glass cannon, and would like a class/build that is moderately forgiving.

Yes, I am a casual player. I plan on doing a lot of RPing, crafting, and vista-getting. I am mildly (read: hugely) disappointed that Traits don’t start until level 30 now, but I suppose I can deal with that. I’ve done some research on Mesmers, as they sound amazingly fun, and some of their builds (Phantasm?) are slightly less prone to being glass-cannon-y, but I’m not sure.

And yes, I understand all classes can do this to some extent or other, but I’m wondering what the community’s opinion is on this. Can non-twitch players solo effectively with a class like Mesmer? Or should I stick to something ever so slightly more face-tanky, like Warrior or Guardian?

Thanks much for your help in advance! Any links to guides would be super helpful, too, as I can’t seem to find any made after 2013.

Kiel vs Evon ~ We all know who wins.

I agree with Awe. Even though I’m a GW1 vet and I love lore, I think that BOTH fractals are going to show us something about magic – Abbadon’s or the dragons’. Either fractal is going be exciting.

But I’m voting for Gnash for two reasons.

1. My main is a Charr who (in RP) is a scholar into human-Charr relations. As such, she is very interested in the Six. The fact that a fellow Charr promises to do research into the first fall of a human god is thrilling.

2. The point of the vote is to make a trade agreement with the Zephyrites. Trade agreement. Trade. This is clearly Evon’s forte, and as such he is the logical option. I have no problems OOC with Ellen or her campaign promises, and to be honest, I would probably benefit from lower WP than lower BLK costs. If the agreement was a peace treaty or a military agreement, I would vote Kiel. But in a pirate’s city, Kiel’s strengths (which are not inconsiderable), would not be best utilized. Her sole “white knight” voice would get overrun by the others, and she does a wonderful job keeping LA safe.

For that reason, I am solidly on #TeamGnashblade.

IMO: ArenaNet favors Evon (Unfair!)

Awkward moment where current exit polls show Ellen winning by 2%. So can we go ahead and shut down this thread now, because it’s obvious they don’t?

How about we use this thread as a de facto “LFG Story Arah” thread? I’m stuck there, also, and I can’t even get guildies to run it with me! (Admittedly, I am in an RP guild, so it’s not because they’re mean.)

I have to say that “Source of Orr” has to be my favourite. That was actually the moment at which I became okay with Trahearne. Defeating the Sovereign Eye and just holding of waves and waves to save the only salad-head in all of Tyria who can do what he’s doing, with no sound and “Fear Not This Night” going.

Ah. So good. If I could reply PS missions….. <3
