I received this email today.

Thanks for getting back to me. I wanted to let you know that we have fixed the issue and you should be able to log back into the game now. If you are unable to do so, please try again within an hour. I hope this helps! I look forward to your response. ?

Hey all, still using Centurylink, in the Denver Colorado area. Game is working just fine for me still after changing my DNS servers to Google’s.

This article shows how to do it if you are unsure how to set your DNS manually. After you set your DNS I recommend flushing DNS cache and renewing your IP connection. This can all be done through a command prompt.

Easiest way to run a command prompt is go to your start button and type cmd. Windows will pull up Command Prompt. Right click it and run as administrator. (You don’t need quotation marks for commands) First command to type is “ipconfig /release”, then type “ipconfig /flushdns” and lastly type “ipconfig /renew”. Once Windows renews your connection, you can check that you are using the manually input DNS servers, by typing “ipconfig /all”. Look for DNS servers and make sure it’s the choice you put in. Close your command prompt window and try running GW2 normally.

I can’t guarantee it will work for you, but it does for me. I was able to raid and fractal last night and am still logging in today with no issues now.

Okay so here’s what I did doesn’t involve changing my command line for Guild Wars 2. It seems that perhaps Qwest/Centurylink has had DNS issues before. I’ve had issues about two years ago with this and should have tried this first.

I set my DNS servers to use Google’s DNS’.

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

Guild Wars 2 comes on line just fine the way it always had before. If you are not sure how to set your DNS choices, I’m sure you can Google it.

I got nowhere with CenturyLink when I contacted them, and just like everyone else here, CenturyLink says “It’s not our problem, contact OEM.” I gave Anet an update and asked them to push the issue with CenturyLink, still no response from Anet, maybe it’s time to start venting on Twitter.

I just have a quick update for my situation for the hell of it I disabled my regular connection, and linked to my iPhone for wireless access. This worked to get me into GW2. I didn’t play a ton due to it’s going to be using a ton of LTE data. I have a feeling Centurylink is the issue and I am going to call them now.

Wow this is very wild. I am in the Denver area using Centurylink too. I am having the same issues as described above. I sent in a support ticket, with the test files, hopefully this gets resolved soon! I want to raid tonight with my guild.

Well, this sucks for all of us, but I am glad it’s not just happening to me. I thought perhaps my computer wonked out and something got changed. Guess we will have to standby and wait till something gets fixed/changes. So much for getting dailies done!
