It doesn’t prevent lazy meta players from joining you and once you are out numbered they’ll boot your butt for another meta. Or after the first boss they quit because you aren’t “fast enough” for them making the rest of the path near impossible.
Metas always complain that it’s the non-metas fault for joining their clearly identified meta team but none will acknowledge that the reverse is also true.
^ this².. also the meta people don’t even bother to read and seem to think there’s nothing beside the meta.

i stopped playing before and i’m about to stop playing again after a 5 months active phase because i mainly do pve and i don’t see anything to do apart from the daily “chores” which consist of a mix of ‘dailys’ (some wvw included) gathering and dungeons and the occasional worldboss if i cba.
The toxic environment going on in dungeons/fractals was the biggest turnoff. (playing primary mesmer, mind you) I guess you are too afraid to change what has established as the ‘meta’ as you don’t want to kitten off to many people who focused their entire build on the ‘meta’ + if you’d take it away now.. you’d kitten off other people who just started doing dungeons the ‘meta way’ and which would feel cheated if it would change now (even tho i highly doubt any of these people use the gem store with gems bought with their cc but rather their converted farmed gold, but i suppose having a certain playerbase, even if they they don’t yield any income are still better then not having any players at all..)
.. also.. i guess changing it would also have an impact on the economy (considering everyone and his cousin is going for a legendary or a even a second one). You just left it untouched for too long to change it now i presume. Better luck in HoT it suppose, eh?
