As the other guys above already mentioned it depends on ur build and play style. I lvled to 80 by using staff/GS; Both weapons will keep u at relatively long range, which helps especially at low lvls that mesmers are weak. At 80 i found that sword/pistol or sword/focus are really the best choices. Staff is my secondary whatever set i choose though. This is imho the best overall weapon.
They have to delete the class before i quit my mesmer. Love the class, everything else i’ve tried looks dull and boring

Mesmer is far from squishy; i’m the last that die in any given group and i’ve soloed my way to 80 by doing skill points, and DE that others needed a group for. U will have a hard time at low lvls until u get a grasp of the class’ mechanics and unlock some key traits, but imho mesmer shines in any aspect of the game at higher lvls with tight play.
Mesmer’s sword abilities are strong; u can also dual wield it for more fun. As for the illusions theme, give it a second try, its really awesome once u get it to work
So i’ve bought the game from a local retailer 2 months ago; what happens if i choose to upgrade to digital deluxe edition? Do i get the pet/skill to my existing account, or i have to make a new one and start all over? Can somebodt plz clarify? Thanks
I’d say ele. Mesmer is hard at low lvls too, but once u unlock some key traits and get a good grasp of the class mechanics, mesmer becomes the most durable of all classes
Well I normally go for map completion when I level and I complete all of the starter zones including the cities first. I believe you’ll come out at lv25ish when you’re done with those. You can then hit the four 15-25 zones.
It’s entirely up to you on how you want to play. I like to be above the max level when I do a zone. An you can do this for most of the game with the exception of a few spots but you can use crafting daily achievements to cover this depending on how often you play.
That’s exactly what i’m doing and works wonders; So far i’ve done 5 cities, 5 starting zones, 2/4 15-25 zones and i’m sitting at 55lvl atm. Not only ur moving towards map completion ( which u will have to do anyways if u want a legendary someday), but by completing a map u get 10 sp and green items
Best weapons for low lvls imho is GS and staff. Both will keep u at long range, staff is nice for defense, GS for offense. GS offers AOE which comes handy in DE events across the map, plus by using the 2 u can perform some nice combos once u get used of them. For example apply Chaos storm, blink away to get chaos armour, switch to GS for mirror blade to apply confusion. That was my best way of handling relatively large groups of enemies (4-5) at once with even sweating. Feedback, null field and veil are other combo fields u might want to experiment, especially when ur chaos storm is on cooldown. As for traits i went for domination (power), chaos (toughness) and illusions (condition dmg). Get crippling dissipation from domination (helps ur kiting) and also the illusions 5 points one (can’t remember the name right now).

Why rush to 80? Don’t u feel like skipping content? I mean the game is beautiful and i’m enjoying every minute of it. Started by completing all 1-15 zones and all cities, then moved to 15-25 zones etc. I’m doing most events in a zone, collect materials and doing my daily. Only 42 atm but i’m in no hurry to reach 80 and endless Orr grinding
Hello fellow mesmers. First post on the forums. So bought the game a month ago and been lvling a mesmer (35lvl atm). So i’ve been thinking of lvling up a profession;
1) What professions would benefit me as a mesmer?
2) What are the money making professions?
3) Is it too late or too early starting at 35?
