Hey i’ve been having a problem with screen blackouts. I can still pop up the options menu even though it doesn’t respond and can hear faint ambient game background noise but nothing else. I’m 100% sure gw2 is going black and not my comp simply because i can Alt+Tab to desktop and use my comp as normal.
I updated the drivers, fixed the game client, changed from native to subsample and even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. The screen blackouts STILL happen. At this point i have no clue as to what the problem is. All i know is that the issue came soon after the latest living world update and continues still.
The rest of my comp and all it’s uses work just fine, even when playing other games.
I do not use any 3rd party software programs such as dps meters, reshade, etc.
If it’s a case of packet loss how do u fix it? Sometimes gw2 crashes and gives an error log, it’s as follows:
Crash <—*
Assertion: !m_handle || m_handle?IsIdle()
File: ..\..\..\Services\Asset\Asset.cpp(111)
App: Gw2-64.exe

If you guys have any idea what i can do besides buying a new comp, i’m all ears.

Hey i’ve been having a similar problem with screen blackouts. I can still pop up the options menu even though it doesn’t respond and can hear faint ambient game background noise but nothing else. Hope this helps.
It started a few days ago while playing ingame in both pve (roaming, dungeons, fractals) and pvp where i experienced screen blackouts at random times. when this happens i can still bring up the options menu and even the character select\log out menu but they don’t work when clicked.
I can still hear faint ambient sound from the ingame background noise but nothing more.
Like i said this blackout happens randomly, sometimes after an hour and sometimes after 5 minutes. I can easily Alt+Tab to my desktop and use all other programs and web use as normal, the internet works fine as do all of my other comp functions. i’ve been using the same comp for this game since launch and this has never happend to me. I use the 64bit client on windows 7 ultimate. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Had the same thing happen to me just these past 2 days! Waited for a long time to purchase gems with paypal and when i finally got money tranferred to it the gw2 website says error….
Race: Norn
Class: Ranger
Sex: Male
Weapon art issue: the bows Azureflame and Aether sit too high and too far right when stowed out of combat, this issue has been around since game launch.
I’ve met quite a few people with either of these bows, and all had the same problem.
Race or Sex of character have no effect on this issue, and as you will see by the pictures posted, armor has nothing to do with these bows and where they sit when stowed.
I realize some art issues in this game are harder to solve than others, but these exotic skins are one of the most beautiful for their weapon type, and as a Azureflame user myself, I’d like to see these weapons properly visualized.
Longbow/Greatsword glass canon PvE build:
I’ve been playing a ranger since launch and used pretty much every build possible, from my experience with this I’ve come up with a high damage, high critical build that will yield a lot of damage and also keep you alive.

Now before you start bombing my build here lol it’s important that you understand what it’s all about. This build utilizes a uncommon tactic with rangers… shifting quickly from ranged to melee (as most rangers stay ranged or melee). It will take some practice until you can effectively use the two to deliver maximum damage with incredible survivbility.
Where u may lack in large amounts of hp and toughness u make up for it in fast endurance regeneration and highly mobile utility and weapon skills including condition removing.
When it comes to dps critical chance is the name of the game, this build stats wise puts an emphasis on mostly the power stat and some precision, this is where the sigil of perception on your longbow comes in, boosting it up to par with your power stat to give you a high critical chance with a powerful punch to go with it.
With QZ and rampage as one you have fast damage output, lightning reflexes is there for you when things get hairy as well as an effective way to shift from melee to ranged, signet of renewel for constant condition removal. All 3 of these utility skills are also stun breakers which when it comes to survivability is a must. Combine that with vigor boon popping up if hit by critical damage, regeneration, damage increased by 20% when flanking and with full endurance, including 5% damage boost when your pet is with you (the 5% boost is given even if the pet is dead), swiftness and fury when swapping weapons (which you will do alot). I use troll unguent for its relatively fast recharge, high healing and mobile properties, heal as one doesn’t heal enough and healing spring prevents you from moving around (which is the very principle of this build).
When it comes to pets i like to use a brown bear for additional condition removing and a fern hound for a nice regeneration boon. Both these pet types survive quite well in PvE and even dungeons if managed right. But this build doesn’t really focus and any specific type of pet, use which ever pet you think seems right.
This build by the way can be used in WvW and even PvP, but i wouldn’t recommend it unless you had very good handling of this build.
Anyway i hope you enjoy this build as much i do , i apologize if this post was a bit long, but as you just read the potential of this build is both promising as well as quite fun
