Here is the problem I see.

They could have stuck with their current gear progression, and just added the slots to infuse in our Exotic/Legendary gears/weapons.

Instead they treadmill it out, meaning “more grinding” even though they directly reference that is what they don’t want to do. (??)

Problem is, what is to stop them from doing it again? Nothing.

The way it’s being handled, it’s just a temporary bandaid on a wound that doesn’t heal. Hardcore players will get the new gear in a few weeks, while the rest of us have yet another tier to try for months to get, and they will need to introduce the next version of ‘Ascended gear’

It’s basically showing the exact opposite of what all of us have come to expect – that ANet is willing to instill the ‘gear treadmill’ mechanics, instead of doing something more intuitive. Thats what grinds my goat.

Honestly, the amount of difference in the stats has no bearing on the outcome. WoW has shown time and time again that 0.1% increase in stat renders all other gear ‘Moot’ in the eyes of the dungeon/raiding teams. And it just creates rifts in the community.

The point is, yes Ele was a powerhouse pre nerfs, and they definitely gave us damage to compensate for having lowest hp and armor in the game.

They took that away, and so now what we’re left with is ‘deal with it, or reroll class’

what ele defenders don’t realize, is if the other classes learned to play with half the skill eles do, they would rofl stomp us every kittenime. but they don’t need to in most cases to rofl stomp us already.

Vapor Form generates death penalty - watch out.

Ele is literally broken, in every sense of the word right now. The only thing they can do is ‘fix’ us.

@arcane shield – 3 hits is barely enough to give you time to dodge. I feel like it’s more of a waste of a utility that MF. and MF can tag more mobs and do more damage than AS if you spec for it as well as give you time to heal up.

This is my take on it:

Mist form = Versatile Preemptive strike or Get out of jail free card
Armor of Earth = Is not

If players are using MF soley as a ‘o crap’ button and using it only just before they die, they are doing it wrong.

Mist form is a free heal, free utility use, free escape, free invuln stun break, free regen, and free dps if you spec for the last 2. And whats more, specing for the last 2 trait wise allows Vapor form in downed mode to do the same.

I use mist form almost exclusively as a preemtive strike, or when im about at 50%. In pvp at the start of a fight, when used at the right time, it completely nullifies an enemy’s initial burst and cooldown use, while allowing me to chill damage and arcane blast him. In a sticky situation if there are too many to handle, you can use lightning strike to get distance while invuln and then RTL away immediately after while everyone is chilled.

When health drops a bit below 30 to 50%, you can use it to drop a quick heal and regen, while chilling and damaging the enemy as you heal to full.

When enemies or teammates are down, it can be used to finish/revive without any chance of interruption.

When downed, coupled with the lava font trait, enemies trying to finish you take MASSIVE damage from both the lava and vapor form. I have finished multiple attackers in downed state as well as pve mobs while downed due to this tactic. It also makes enemy players in pvp want to keep their distance which gives teammates a longer time to revive you.

Having used both mist and armor of earth for a long period of time, i personally have stuck with mist form while dropping armor of earth. While the stability and and boons are a great option, the damage decrease doesn’t cut it as well as the invuln i get from mist form.

But depending on build, the usefulness will vary.

You guys are forgetting the Tornado nerfs, if you were there.

Tornado was a wrecking ball, damage like pre-nerf whirlpool, three times in a row with lightning strikes to everyone every other second. It was definitely over the top, but felt good with the cooldown.

Now its a kick me sign.

Then the dps nerfs came right off in the first beta. scepter, dagger, staff all took damage nerfs.

And the nerfs kept coming in the form of ‘fixes’ though they failed to fix bugs like RTL that were reported pre bwe1.

Mist Form and Tornado

Answer me this Tornado defenders:

How effective is stability, when you can’t finish enemies, heal downed teammates, or use any utilities or skills except for a random, relatively lowball damage proc once per second and a half?

The answer is: moot. Who cares if you can move freely with stability for 16 seconds when you are really just a ‘KICK ME’ sign you posted on yourself for all to see.

The knockback is sporadic, not reliable. Most good players just pop their own stability and wail on the helpless slow moving idgit that popped tornado.

So please, do enjoy using tornado in all it’s glory. And I’ll continue to pop earth armor and destroy you in the 6 seconds I have of my own stability. :rolleyes:

Would be nice if mist form gave immunity to current conditions/cc for 3 seconds, but not expecting it.

Tornado on the other hand, it FLAT OUT needs to be BUFFED.

Something I will share, getting mist/vapor form chill & damage trait along with lava font downed trait has made getting downed a fricken blast for me Sometimes I can kill things faster in downed state than when up…

And thats saying something about our dps potential on a normal level…not so much in a good way.

We need more MAPS!

Getting close to Phoenix level, honestly, I love the pvp games. Both tpvp and spvp take up the majority of my time.

BUT!

After a few hundred hours in the same 4 maps, sometimes I want to shoot the screen. (especially when a certain map pops, which will remain unnamed)

It would be GREAT if we could get 8 to 10 maps to cycle through in the pvp rounds!!

Also great if different pvp modes were made available, but I would rather focus on the maps.

Beating the dead horse? Hell YES. for Emphasis, please give us some more maps!!! That was my greatest hope for the spvp update /sadpanda.

Thanks for the awesome game, but more maps please. thank you.

fanboism is the crux of every argument that makes ele’s look like they are fine.

anyone with half a brain who has actually played the game can see the blatant balance issues.

^^ the above post for example. We are not arguing to make ele’s easier to use or other classes harder. We are arguing to make ele’s as effective. Because they are not. In dps sense or survivability sense.

I’m going to have to go with:

For fire in general, staying in that attunement for dps reasons makes sense in a lot of scenerios. Mostly in group setting for example. Scepter, Staff or dagger, you have abilities like dragons tooth, lava font and fire breath that are always off cooldown once all your other skills are used, not to mention utilities, make staying in that attunement a better choice.

Also, for staff, fire auto attack is the only decent attack dps wise. AoE burst along with lava font. If your team mates are up in the fray and you are behind range dps’ing, you will do better staying in that attunement.

switching for no reason just to use cooldowns etc isn’t always the best choice.

Or should we just chalk this up to false advertising? lol.

From my view, the thief and warrior damage is quite satisfying and noticeable when speccing glass cannon. D/D ele and S/D should honestly feel the same or more. God knows we go down faster than both. Glass staff ele could be boosted as well for most attunements, but obviously range needs to be considered.

1-vapor form does not redeem ele downed state. in any way shape or form.
2-whether you are fine with ele auto attacks is irrelevant. besides staff fireball, all others are lacking
3-tornado is largely lacking in mobility, damage, control, defense, etc. its basically a kick me sign, especially against a group. your claim that it is a ‘nightmare’ to an enemy group is laughable.
4-nerfs to ele have been rampant since bwe1. changes to burning speed, scepter, dagger and utilities have been staggering.
5-there is 1 viable build. ranged heal support tank sans damage. thats all.
6-less payout than any other profession. try a few.
7-traits are lackluster compared to guardian, mesmer, thief, engineer, etc etc etc. check them out for yourself.
8-there is nothing to learn when its simply a kittened profession issue.

5 – One single viable build, where every other class has multiple

6 – More work for less payout than any other profession

7 – Too many worthless traits and utilities

If you argue that elementalists don’t suck pewter cowkitten sacks, you don’t main an ele, or you haven’t tried other classes. Ignorance is bliss, but doesn’t make your view the truth.

My main is an ele. And I still play her regularly. But its ridiculous the amount of work put into her for such subpar results. playing other classes, the ease of use and literal fun factor makes her look like a joke.

It’s not a L2P issue. Even the other class forums laugh at targetting ele’s for quick kills or ignoring them completely as they will either die in 2 hits or do so little damage you can swat them like a mosquito. Having played other classes against the ele, yes, it is pretty much exactly that.

Hoping for some ele LOVE in the future devs. Stop hating us.

JOKING RIGHT? Please tell me your joking. Ele’s suck balls my friend, no matter the spec. They sport well against noobs thats about it. Advanced players can run circles around us in tournys, and the ones that say ‘they are versatile and balanced’ don’t play against advanced players.

Please, buff the ele. we are a sad pile of **** used for target practice.
