From the looks of it the only balance changes will be those already spoilt in the “balance preview” which was months ago.

What does this mean?

It means no nerf to decap engis – so solo q is still unplayable
It means no nerf to pistol whip
It means no nerf to thief sustain in general (withdraw)
It means no nerf to AH guardian (so another year of bunker guardian required)
It means no nerf warrior (8% healing signet change doesn’t count sorry – espicially with sigil buff for them)

I kind of knew this would be the case based on:

1, Previously their announced balance changes (even when months before a patch) = their only balance changes.
2, Devs already announced they were “keeping balance changes to a minimum”

I think the rage when this balance patch comes out will hit new heights on these forums. Personally I would be astonished if they don’t address things like AR and pistol whip

Considering these are overview blogs are not only aimed at PvPers, but rather the community at large and that decap engi, AH guardian, PW thieves aren’t of great importance to them. I’d recommend that you should try and keep your panties out of a twist for a few more weeks, Rick.

Trust me. Those are the balance changes. We have 6 more months of decap engis and pistol whip thieves to look forward to.

I mean, dude, warrior is one of the things I don’t even care about right now. Warrior is balanced and fun to fight against compared to those two things.

What a complete and utter disaster this feature patch is going to be.

Anet: None of your new traits, sigils and runes matter for kitten. You can theory craft some new epic necro/ele/whatever build but it won’t matter for anything. You will have an awesome coherent build and then you go to play it and you just get pistol whipped to death over and over by an unhittable thief. What ruins this game isn’t what is not there. It is what is here. Addition by subtraction is something you people should be aware of. There is no point in this patch if we just get pistol whipped over and over still, or if we can’t even fight a 4v4 because of a decap engi on our close all game like a braindead idiot

This patch is going to be the worst ever produced. And I was excited about it. None of it matter anymore. New map? Who cares. I will just get pistol whipped 7 times in 10 seconds on that map too. So who gives a kitten.

Just so you are 100% aware. Pistol whip is currently the most broken thing that the game has seen in a long time. Even warriors have nothing this OP.

I just want to make sure that you realise this fact. Please community managers like Allie, please make sure the balance/spvp devs are aware of this FACT.

3 months of work?

Some of you guys should separate the discussion about balance and the discussion about new things/improving build diversity. The balance at the moment is quite oke, with every profession being played in PvP. However, the build diversity falls behind heavily, and this is something Anet doesn’t do anything about. They never improve old traits and utilities. Not even some simple tweaks. They could try for example to move Unholy sanctuary to the Blood magic trait line. Maybe it works, maybe it doesnt. But a disaster it won’t be, while it is a disaster right now. They need to grow some balls instead of giving a 5 sec cd reduction on spectral wall. I mean, that just illustrates how they really don’t have an idea to improve core builds.

Balance doesn’t mean much though. It is more about making the game fun and building hype. This is done by making new specs and trait lines viable. There is no esports anymore so balance risks can be taken now.

Necro needs more sustain - it sucks

For reference: My rating is 1890, I solo queue only.

Necro needs more sustain. It is terrible.

There are ways you can add sustain to the necromancer which should have been done long ago. Here are some suggestions:

0, Necros should start a pvp game with 30% death shroud (this one is important)

1, Consume conditions needs a shorter cast time. In a world of spammable instant cast interrupts, a 1.25s cast time is not fair.
Suggestion: Reduce cast time of consume conditions to 0.75s

2, Consume conditions needs a shorter cool down. The nerf to this from 25s to 30s was hated at the time and was never undone. Nobody will take master of corruption because it sucks. If you are worried about this then just nerf that trait which nobody will ever take.
Suggestion: Reduce cool down of consume conditions back to its 25s.

3, Base necromancer death shroud needs significant buffs to put it as a viable choice when compared to repear shroud. This has long been discussed on the necromancer forums.
Suggestions: Add 3 stacks of stability to tainted shackles.
Add poison to each pulse of Death shroud 4
Death shroud 3 should also apply 1 stack of buring
Death shroud 2 should have its cool down reduced to 12 seconds from 15 seconds to be more in line with repear shroud 2.

With all these things, necro death shroud will still be worse than repear shroud. But at least it narrows the gap and lets people play with more builds.

4, The soul comprehension trait needs to have an additional effect to help sustain.
Suggestion: You gain 10s protection when critically hit (cooldown 20 seconds). Everyone else gets perma protection so why not necros?

5, Unholy santuary and unholy martyr need to be useful.
Suggestion: Unholy martyr nerf removed and it now grants 10% life force
Unholy sanctuary needs to have the healing it provides double from 130/s to 260/s.

6, Focus off hand should be a survival weapon. Nobody has used this in 4 years of pvp basically, which is a complete failing of the balance.
Suggestion: Make one of the focus skills an invuln, similar to ele earth focus.

7, Life siphoning sucks. The healing amount is just pathetic.
Suggestion: Increase all life siphoning healing by at least 50%. If you want to move slowly then keep moving it up over time by 25%. I doubt 50% will make it good, but it would help weak builds.

8, Death magic and blood magic trait lines suck
Suggestion: These lines need some very powerful sustain traits in them. There is no reason transfusion should be a grandmaster for example.

9, Plague form is too weak to conditions. This was fine in the past, but with the power increases of all specs, conditions are EVERYWHERE.
Suggestion: Plague form should also cure 1 condition each time it pulses.

10, Well of blood is too weak. There needs to be some condition clear on this
Suggestion: Add condition clear. It should also be a water field.

11, The well grandmaster trait is too weak. The life siphon sucks, the recharge reduce is average and the 3s protection is pathetic in a world where perma protection is a thing.
Suggestion: Add condition removal to this trait. Wells should also remove 2 conditions on the necromancer when they are cast. This would help well of blood too.

No class should need to follow a tempest around to be effective. None of these changes add to anything in a meta spec really. In fact most of these changes will just open up build diversity.

So I bought GW2 at launch and played it for like 2 days before putting it down. To be honest, the only reason why I put the game down was because I was already running a guild in SW:TOR and was fairly committed to that game. However, I recently picked GW2 back up after bouncing back and fourth from WoW and SW:TOR. I have to commend the dev team over hear at areananet. I am absolutely loving this game, I play strictly PVP and have been a pvp player in ever mmo that I have played.

The thing that bugs me is today’s generation of spoiled MMO gamers. Coming from a pvp perspective, GW2 offers gamers one of the best PvP experiences you can get in an MMO. Yet, when I come to the forums for tips and whatnot, all i see is moaning and complaining. And most of the complaints are not even valid.

I understand that the forums if a place where people come to give suggestions and ideas about how to make the game better. But, the truth here is that every time
I come to the forums I feel like I’m wasting my time playing some trash mmo. At least that is how GW2 forum community makes it seem. Thats the end of my little rant, I just wish people would be a little more accepting of the game that the developers have created, BECAUSE IT IS AWESOME!

The problem is the game was better 6 months after launch than now. We used to have i game tournaments, the ability to queue from anywhere, leaderboards, solo queue, skill based game play and no power creep passives.

So you really cant judge having just arrived. People are mad at the live team for making the game worse.

I doubt feedback from the community has priority when I look at things like “Immobilize-Stacking”, “Skyhammer still in SoloQ”, “Dhuumfire”, “Diamond-Skin” or general “Powercreep”.

Things the community never asked for or sometimes even protested against and still ignored by A-Net.

To me it looks like the Designers want to create their own world and be creative in general, without cleaning the mess they’ve left. Since the dhuumfire patch the balance was and still is in a horrible state.
They had nearly 1 year to fix things. But instead we get more abilities and traits, which will cause even more issues. I don’t get the strategy behind this nor how the management can’t see such crucial faults.

Playing the nice guys in the forums and telling us everyday awesome things will come “soon” and it’s only the “tip of the iceberg”, won’t get you any further in the long run.

Agreed Empa. But things have reached new lows with this feature patch. No thief nerfs, no decap engi nerfs and warrior buffs (sigils will be a HUGE HUGE HUGE BUFF) have really hit feeling in the REAL community hard (in game).

I made a thread an hour after the sigil change was announced informing them how 4 on-swap sigils would make warrior an unkillable machine. Anet DO NOT take feedback into account because they haven’t made any adjustments based on this feedback. Despite the fact that even on the forums everyone can see how huge of a problem this will be.

You can purchase any of the trait guides. Prices depend on tier and whether it’s new or not. So for every trait there will be an option to go out into the world and unlock it via specific content or just purchase it if you choose to go that route.

I hope the moderators aren’t at lunch. They are going to have work clearing up all the rage which will ensue.

Fwiw, Karl and Roy are good guys who do a good job for this game. It isn’t their fault the game has a PvE direction.

OP, you are correct but this was all said on these forums 2 years ago and 1 year ago when the big balance patches moved the game into spam and made the whole game a joke. This discussion has been done to death. The game will never be competitive because of the balance direction which took a strong initial game and turned it into a frustrating spam-fest
