And why? Simple. One game mode. Every poll ever done suggested more game modes as the key.
Anet have given up adding maps too. In fact we haven’t had a new “team arena” map in 18 months. So for 18 months there is no “freshness” into pvp.
New game mode seems like it is never coming because “league of legends only has one game mode!”. This sort of analogy is just so flawed.
Solo arena is a total joke. Firstly it has skyhammer. Secondly everybody has totally given up try harding and it now just a total kitten around by both teams.
Team arena is equally dull. What is there, about 4 “teams” who play a viable comp? Everyone else is just playing very casually. So that clearly shows the joke that is team arena. When compostion and “rotations” (also known as running to empty point with bunkers and dying slowly to win 500-100) are more important than actual fighting then you know you created epic fail pvp.
There is nothing to do with 2/3 friends. Do arena-net really not understand social scenarios? It is way way harder to sustain a 5 man group than it is to sustain a 2/3 man group. People have their own commitments. In a 5 man groups these clash often so playing as a “team” simply doesn’t work. People have personalities. In a 5 man group these clash so playing as a “team” simply doesn’t work. People want to play something fun. When (to win) you need 3 (minimum) bunkers (for the “pro” rotations) then you need to find 3 people who are so desperate to win that they want to run some sort of do-nothing build which thrives by just auto attacking for 100 (no offense to bunkers – someone has to do it).
So playing as a 5 man team is just not really practical. And playing conquest OVER AND OVER AND OVER again (and you dont even add new maps lolz) is BORING. This isn’t league of legends. Really…
And they refuse to address any of these issues. 15 points for a kill would help to make pvp less of a total bunker-fest of lameness. You have all seen epically skilled players on engi/warrior/ele in different peroids of gw2 and how they all just do so much for their team by rushing far and bunkering it till more bunkers can arrive. How about 15 points if they die. Actually make the risk reward of the game more sensible.
Or you can just leave things as they are. Eu is meant to be the “active” part (NA not active) and you have about 8 teams (including casual teams). So that is 40 people. Well played. 4 million to 40 players. That is horrendous. Truly horrendous.
Nobody will read this from anet and nothing will ever improve. Is there even anyone left? They all leave because they know this game is going nowhere from a pvp perspective.

I am currently ranked no.1 (or was at the time of writing this OP) on the EU. I appreciate that the game is hard to balance for the developers because it is hard to distinguish useful feedback from meaningless QQ from people with less experience.
With that being said, let me tell you the OP/lame stuff at high level solo Q. Hopefully this feedback can be of use:
1, Elite ranger spirit – even at 320/second this heal will be too strong.
2, Ranger shortbow 1 – too high dps for an auto attack where there is no risk/reward to using it.
3, Warrior sustain – is too high. I know they need high sustain but with their immunities/lyssa then things aren’t good. Something needs to give.
4, Warrior longbow burst skill – its bugged so it clears 3 condis even when it hits nobody. This bug have a big effect on gameplay. Needs some creative design thinking to fix this. And maybe reduce the area of this skill which is too large to allow skillful counter play.
5, Lyysa runes – Obviously too strong, obviously didn’t design it to be used with 48 second elites. ICD needs to be over 70 seconds imo.
6, Thief evades – Still a problem I think.
7, Elementalist instant burst – need to somehow add some counter play to instant skill abilities with high damage. Not sure how to do this. Thats up to the devs, but it sucks.
For build diversity:
Guardian needs some mobility help deep into an offensive trait line to help roaming builds.
Necro needs a viable defensive line by fixing the minor traits in death magic.
Ranger needs some active condition removal (such a condi loss on pet swap low in a power line) and its shouts buffed to make it so emphatic bond isn’t required.
Warrior needs significant nerfs so other builds on other classes can have a chance to breath and exist.
Elementalist needs its RTL nerf reverted to just 20 seconds always cooldown, and should have slightly stronger sustain but reduced damage at certain times. Almost diamond skin should be reworked so it is useful always and never just brokenly lame (like lose 2 conditions when changing to earth)
Thief is fine except for some nerfs needed.
Mesmer should be in a good place after the vigor nerf.
Engineer needs its condi immunity removed/nerf to 90%, incendiary power made skill based, but improvements to the scaling of some of their attacks with power.
GL everyone, and thanks to the devs for a fun game which hopefully can keep improving and hopefully no more power creep
Obviously this is just solo Q as I don’t play in a consistent team ever.
The reason is because arena net didnt listen to people during alpha about this one game mode being boring. So they didn’t listen in alpha. Then in beta people said just give us 2v2 and 3v3 arenas with respawn tickets. They didn’t listen then either. Then at release. People said give us arenas. Anet didn’t listen. Then after a year people said give us arenas. Anet didnt listen. Then about 3 months ago, after everyone quit, anet decided that maybe they needed new game modes.
My prediction is they wont put the new modes into the tournament rotation though. They will just put it into custom arenas. Which defeats the object completely.
All this is why nobody with any skill really plays this game anymore. Because its pointlessly bad and based around playing a bunker build and standing on a point.
This thread is for positive thoughts on GW2 pvp.
Here is my list:
1, The combat is fun
2, The matchmaking works well generally
3, No gear grind – everyone is equal
4, No level grind – lower barrier to entry should keep the game alive
5, Downed state – is kind of fun except for things like elite spirit or thief teleport
6, Owning people – owning people is fun
Put more as you like. No trolls please.
This thing is a PR disaster for anet.
The reason I say that is they promote the tournament and for the first time ever 1000’s of PvEers (the people who must be attracted to pvp for it to survive) get attracted to PvP. And then what? They will be told “Sorry you can’t play because these PvP teams are playing”. How demoralising is that for them?
In addition, the top teams should actually probably be banned from the tournament. If you have a ton of teams and actively decide teams like 55HP will be let in then what will happen? They will just 500-0 all the new players with their full on cheese mode comp and this will:
1, Be terrible viewing
2, Leave a horrible taste in the mouth of new players to PvP, as they get 333333ed down all game
I think Anet should of thought this through more. ATM this tournament looks like it will just be a PR disaster and help to kill GW2 even more.

If you are one of the tiny minority who doesn’t get kittened off with the downward spiral that is this game then congrats. But the critical people on the forums reflect feeling in game more than the game lovers. This game gets such abuse in game that it is astonishing. I have never seen anything like it. Go to any other game and type “this game sucks” and you will get abuse and “why are u here then”. If you do that in pvp on this game, either in team q or solo q in the top 1000-2000 then you won’t get many people saying this. Most will agree with you.
When the hardcore players lol @ how fail the game is then there is problems. So it isn’t just the forums. Don’t pretend it is because you just prove yourself to be out of touch when you say such things. And you reinforce what anet thinks. They think we are happy with how things are and the forum QQers are a minority, rather than the truth which is we reflect the majority in game ESPECIALLY at the highly rated level or solo and team Q.
What point is positive feedback when it is unjustified? If something sucks then we should say it sucks and leave all fanboyism aside. The community on this forum does a good job of that. We say it like it is. We call out Anets mistakes. Personal attacks on staff are NOT cool. But saying when they do stupid things IS cool. I would want honest feedback on how I delivered in my work. So should they.
lordrosicky stop going into every single necro topic just to write that because of a 5sec cd increase on our heal our class is dead. if u think necro is the worst class since 3 years just leave. its people like u that are the reason why we dont have a wonderful necro community
5s increase in a heals cd is huge. A heal is basically sustain. Heals are incredibly important in gw2 because there are no healers. There is a reason the top pvp classes all have exceptional heals.
The balance patch has one major change to balance – dhuumfire being nerfed into the ground.
Obviously the nerf is very large. And other classes are getting buffs at the same time (or tiny nerfs like warrior which wont matter).
So the only change after the patch which matters is that necros will be horrible/weak.
This is a silly thing to do to be honest. I agree with the dhuumfire change but similar nerfs should come for other classes.
In pvp this change just crushes necro as we are pigeon holed into condi buillds and our condis have been nerfed time and time again to make way for dhuumfire which is now being deleted.
Burning is needed so much, you will realise how weak necro is after the patch
This balance patch was 3 months of work (actually over 4 months on necro changes)? I could have solo made these changes in 3 days. They are simply a few cooldown reductions (obviously more power creep).
There is nothing new to keep the game fresh. Just a load of cooldown reductions or damage increases involving random numbers.
Pretty terrible. You would expect reworks to traits and moving traits around at least. But nah, just some changes I could do in about 15 hours work. You still leave 50% of the traits in the game as just close to worthless in every game mode. And it hasn’t changed still. Pretty funny honestly. I refuse to admit you have full time staff working on balance changes.
I had low expectations for how significant the changes would be and it was still disappointing.

You shouldnt want updates. Updates mean they remove features.

Remove leaderboards
Remove solo queue
Remove in-game tournaments

Not only is celestial OP (because it gives you way more stats). But in addition, other things like fire and air sigils are very strong and should be nerfed probably.
The titles of the upcoming blog post seem to suggest all the “features” are just PvE features. There is no title which suggests a new game mode will be coming.

mar 21 The Art of Combat – Probably some bluster about sigils/runes.
mar 21 Critical! – Stupid PvE change nobody cares about to critical damage. They get huge balance reworks apparently. Go figure.

Also wtf. April 15th. About 18 weeks we wait for ANYTHING. PvP has had LITERALLY NOTHING for kittening 18 weeks. WTF not even A SINGLE BALANCE CHANGE. Other games do expansions in this time. What a total, utter, total, JOKE. Your game was released half finished from a PvP point of view and EVERYBODY hates the meta because it is full of passives, immunities and things.

Master of Corruption: Reduces recharge of corruption skills by 33% but causes corruption skills to apply additional conditions to you when cast. (Condition applied varies per skill.)
I thought it was “apply conditions to foes”. I cant believe the need to put in this random downside. Its crazy. Really crazy.
Necro is screwed vs everyone after dhuumfire nerf. Because it lost:
2 bleeds on weaking shroud
1 bleed on grasping
1 bleed on mark of blood
1 bleed on mark of evasion
Nerf to chill of death
Putrid mark nerf – only xfer 3 conditions
17% nerf to terror damage
Terror moved to master trait
Corrupt boon only corrupts 5 conditions
1 bleed on Enfeebling blood (maybe ??) + it gives less weakness by far now
Really necro has a ton of nerfs to make way for dhuumfire which they now make useless! That leaves necro way way way way underpowered vs things like new ele signet, AR, healing turret, healing signet and thief evasion. Necro will be worst class imo.
Why did you bother introducing stronghold if you give it no support at all?
Why did you make spirit watch and not support it at all? Not balance the orb running. Not put it in your ranked arena. Not put it in your tournaments?
The reason is because there is like 20-30 dudes who are afraid to lose on anything new. So they cry about anything that is introduced and we are stuck with 5v5 conquest on legacy for the 7000th year. Because apparently that is the only real way skill is shown right? Playing a bunker and knowing the jump spots on legacy = skill, amirite?
Honestly. Stronghold is better than conquest. Spirit watch is the best conquest map because it is varied. There are more ways to win than sitting on points with bunkers.
I feel sorry for the devs who put a ton of hard work into these new maps. They are fun but have issues due to not being supported. I have no idea why a tiny minority of players who apparently are in love with forest of nifrel are able to massively influence this games development.
No wonder players are being driven away from this game. I got bored on conquest on legacy about 18 months ago.
Well I watched nemesis’ last video. He is almost certainly correct. Necro condi pve damage is massively underrated by the community because of dps up time.

The Good

-New skills, although underpowered and cost 25 skillpoint and costs25 skill points in PvP where everyone is supposed to be in equal footing?!
-Thieves got some nice buffs, been seeing them more lately, specially in ranked. Initiative buff does incredible things although most people dont really notice that much.
-Stealth got a minor hit, although not enough it is a good step towards getting there.The Bad
-Elementalists in the same if not worse state than before; lots of traits moved to higher tier when they didnt need to! Thanks for moving Blasting staff but the rest changes were atrocious, sorry.
-Diamond skin: useless, completely useless, but then you face a rabid necro 1v1 and it is overpowered, completely overpowered. Overall it is just useless though, the amount of niche scenarios in which it could be slightly useful does not outweight the drawbacks, specially not considering it is a grandmaster trait. I think we can do better than that!
-Thieves and backstab, just abilities out of stealth and the lack of way to block/evade/blind them witout revealing them. Either the backstabs need toning down or blocking/evading/blining should apply reveal and make the skill miss, no way around this, sorry.The Missing
-Elementalists need a serious boost to survivavility. Passive traits will not cut it, they need to have a survival tool specific to the class: Deathshroud/fear necros, clones/stealth/chaosstorm/chaosarmor/blinks/daze mesmer, blinds/block/heals/protection/moreheals guardian, evades/spirits/regen/protection ranger, stealth/teleports/blinds/blinds/stealth thieves, etc etc etc…. you get my point, eles what do they have? Heals were nerfed into absolutely nothing, every patch since the D/D deal, which if they were to be taken at their max potential to the current meta, they would probably even struggle. Then what? Cantrips on 75-90 secs CD, which is the equivalent to elites in other classes, a guardian can get protectio and stability teamwide on 26 seconds CD, we have something that lasts about the same, selfish, on 4 times the CD….. and no, the package does not justify it, a guardian does about the same if not as much damage as ele but a guardian can survive it all, yet it has the same hp as the ele….. same base hp, ever wonder that, even a glass canon guardian, which does aout the same damage? I think eles need to be taken to the draw board, decide what do you want attunemnts to be used as, what do you want ele’s inherent defense that does not involve putting up 4 elites worth of stuff. the only boon sharing thing we had got moved to 20 points. You need to give us something to work on, there is absolutely nothing an ele can do that anybody else cant do 4x better, without the fear of blowing in one rotation.
Man you people really don’t get it do you. Ele needs ZERO buffs. Other stuff must be nerfed. Ele is a bit of survivability away from being the new warrior. Its INSTANT UNDODGABLE damage on s/f ele is INSANE and very very very strong. If they buff the survivability then you make ele the new warrior. They should nerf other stuff as ele is fine right now. In fact ele is a little too strong. The damage is too strong. But RELATIVE to everything else it is weak. But it should still be nerfed – just less than everything else.
BUT anet are dumb and will do what you say. They will listen to the baddies and buff it to the sky and then ele will be broken/undodgable and lame bs. Just like warrior kind of is.
Well let’s be honest..
THIS PvP is “competitive casual” because there’s no competition at all. It’s not even close to be any competitive since it doesnt reward anything (#eSports)
As an exemple, the difference between a good and a bad guardian is fairly less important than a good and a bad prot/heal monk in GW1.If you want an online game to be “casual competitive”, GW2 in its current state is perfect for you, considering it doesnt reward good players
The difference between good and bad anything is almost non-existant in this game. Too many spammable skills, passives and immunities. It takes no skill to be immune to all condis at 25% health. No skill to passively heal with AH. No skill to proc that dhuumfire passively. No skill to give aoe dhuumfire passively with sun spirit.
The game is utterly brainless. Those are the facts.
Is that weird for you that they communicate with Tournament Players (e.g. Backpack) more than with ‘randoms’ crying about everything?
They have a vested interest in keeping their comps and professions strong. The reason thief/mesmer comp has been so strong for so long is probably because these players do not want thief nerfed because they have become expert at abusing how overpowered it is.
Give up Henry, it doesn’t matter what you bring up as an argument. Too many ppl on this forum think too one-sided. Mostly because they only look from a one-class-perspective or because they choose to ignore bad skill-design.
“It doesn’t affect the meta” or “I played it and I failed, so it must be underpowered and useless”. If I read such things I have to facepalm myself for stupidity. I hope you realize in 2 months when staff ele gets buffed, that this trait will change to a real threat. Besides that it is just a horrible hardcounter (if it’s played or not doesn’t matter), but it seems like you are not able to think further and in bigger patterns.

As for later on when eles get buffed:
1) It depends on what buffs they get. Not all buffs will suddenly make 30 in the earth tree viable.
2) We have no idea whether they will nerf Diamond Skin at the same time, but the point has already been argued to death that it’s a badly designed trait. If ANet doesn’t get that by now, then dragging this argument out all over again now and beating on the same tired arguments won’t change anything.When they start talking about what ele buffs are coming and whether diamond skin will change, there will be something worth talking about here. In the meantime, this is just serving as a springboard for people to rage against tired, unconstructive arguments.
lol @ diamond skin being changed dude. Anet don’t reverse their changes even when feedback is almost 100% negative. Look at things like Healing signet, AR, Diamond skin or not giving us new game modes.
Seriously. They have shown that they are stubborn developers who just think they know best DESPITE constantly kittening up. Like with refusing to do new game modes. They didn’t listen. As usual, the community was right and they were wrong. But it takes them 3 years to admit this. SKyhammer. community almost to a man hates this map. PvP hate this map. In game it is a joke. Developers don’t listen. They think they are right and we are wrong. People quit solo q as a result.
They have confidence in their decisions (the devs). Unfortunatly they aren’t as smart as they think they are. And we aren’t as stupid as they think we are. They don’t tell us anything because they think we are a bunch of clueless kids. They treat our views like those of 10 year olds. I would hope they would learn from their experiences and previous failings. Everyone makes mistakes in every walk of life. Learning from them and having humility is important.
Besides. If you don’t want to discuss diamond skin then why are you here. Go post in a topic you do care about. The whole forum doesn’t have to revolve around your personal views. I don’t go to the living story forum and make post after post on things saying it doesn’t matter.

It has been OP since the day came out.
I am the dude who won the solo queue only leaderboards back in the day with the highest MMR and win percentage.
I know what I am talking about and I guarantee that thief is totally broken.
They gave up on PvP and they avoid the forum because it is quite negative.

To be fair this Balance Patch looks more aimed at PVE side of balancing with a bit of Spvp balance thrown in. Not really a full blown SPVP balancing.
After 3+ months it shouldnt be tiny cd reductions. There should be reworks of many traits that underwhelm. They must be running on a skeleton dev team.

No. lol. That’s the easiest way to induce power-creep. Slower and smaller balance patches don’t shake the game as much. That’s a positive thing, if you didn’t know. The meta is in a great spot right now, and spvp on the whole doesn’t alienate players with these kinds of balance patches. Think about it, every single season has had a substantial meta change. Is that not enough change for you?
What are you talking about. Imagine the style of play you like is a condi necro or a dps ele or a bunker/support guardian. It is fine for these to all suck for a few months or even for 6 months. But often complete styles of play are terrible for about 2 years. So people just quit because there is nothing fresh ever. It is boring
I just saw you are a thief so that explains why you are so happy. The most OP class ever with the most OP spec ever (d/p) didn’t get nerfed at all. SO you can still headshot spam and get tons of 4.5k PI procs. Great. Another year dealing with that. Again, repetitive and boring.

After the patch?
I don’t think dhuumfire will be viable after the patch because it is in a bad line and the cast time on the ds#1 is too long for a condi build to make use of, espicially as you need to cast it probably 4/5 times for it to proc. That is ages when you could be doing other conditions for damage and/or not losing sustain. By wasting your ds on doing ds#1 you lose a ton of sustain and a ton of damage.
Lets remember that since the dhuumfire patch anet made way for burning with a series of nerfs including:
1, Losing many bleeds
2, Losing a ton of weakness duration
3, Nerfing fear damage
4, traits being moved around to nerf many builds (greater marks and terror)
5, Huge buffs to other classes condi removal
6, Addition of sigils that buff condi removal even with no crit
Necro is gonna suck imo

Not true at all. The leaderboard should reward volume because otherwise it promotes people waiting for their lame comp “team” to come online and then they farm pugs all day. Does that prove individual skill? Nope.

Ill take it, but its minor. Damage was never lacking, its always ladning your skills and enemy defenses that are problems.PVP " RELIABLITY " changes.

- We have 2 pulls – both dont work. DH has 2 pulls – both work 100% when they should. Ok 1 is now actually dodgeable
- HEALING. No passive healing allowing 1v2 kiting. Still interuptable. Healing well still not unnfered from math test fail and no blast to combo it.
- No get out jail cards , basic mobility , were still glass and we get 100-0 even in 1v1
- Free kill at start with 0 lifeforce , extreme min/max difference
- RELIABILITY aka FORTUNE TELLING : you still praise RNG that your skills land, that enemy is bad, that no random blind comes up…
Its decent patch, PVE poeple will love it, I just dont want my actions in high PVP to be outside of my control and my combos being filled with unintended counterplay.
In pvp this patch was a huge nerf to necromancer. It got nothing to fix its issues
So i assume youre a software programmer urself then? im also fast when it comes to thinking about what to change but im just too uninformed to blame them for that long timeperiod when i dont even know how long it takes to implement such changes.
Have you played other games? HOTS have a ton of heroes to balance and yet they make significant balance changes and reworks on a regular basis. If you are waiting 3/6 months for changes then you get something significant which really shakes things up and keeps things fresh. This patch gave nothing. It is totally worthlesss. These are the sort of changes that you would expect in a small monthly balance patch.
Who cares. There is no solo queue so all you see is who is good at duo queueing.
And if people QQ about PW and auto attack chain not having much DPS difference then the auto attack should be nerfed because that is also too strong. Auto attacks shouldn’t do massive damage
Yeah, thieves shouldn’t do damage at all in fact.
They shouldn’t do absurd damage if they are also:
1, By far the most mobile
2, More survivable than bunker guardians when wearing zerker amuet (lol)
That is the issue. Fine if you want them to do massive damage. But then at least make them killable ever. Which they aren’t currently. You can’t have a class doing the most damage and then make it impossible to focus that class. It is ludicrous.
Yeh 2017 is going to be amazing. The 3 people left in the game will LOVE it when these game modes move into tournaments.
I’m having fun, couldn’t care less if the game has 1 team or 100 teams, or if there were 20 different game modes; as long as the game is fun (and according to my yoloQ queue times a lot of people must be playing) its worth.
Not every game is suited to be “competitive” (even if they want it), if you want to go pro and get all the girls with your leet skills, try League.
I agree. This game is a joke competitively, that is what I am saying. There is no point playing it competitively.
So why not actually make the game fun with new game modes and more stuff to keep things fresh in the game. If you find it fun now I am almost certain you wont say that when you have played 4k tournaments like I have.
This game isn’t even good for casual-competitve people like me who want to just have fun whilst having a bit of casual competition
Why a condi every second? That is literally insane. And over 75% health will be easy to maintain for a class with perma prot, regen, vigor and a ton of healing.
I dont understand why the trait has to be so blatently overpowered. It should be a condi every 3 seconds over 75%, or at least every 2 seconds.

Its because they don’t have a clear direction. They never specified their perfect ranked system and matchmaking system so they just jump back and forward doing random changes.
Its a failing in software development imo
It is negative publicity. They waste a ton of money on it and then it just looks terrible and doesn’t draw anyone in because it is just a spam filled cluster-kitten
1, Everything is such a grind. 100 skill points to unlock these traits = gg alts. What a joke. 10 gold for these amulets. Joke.
2, Celestial amulet now gives 3k stats and all the others 2k? Surely celestial is going to ridic OP?
3, What iswith all the bs micro now. Have to move open these kittenty bags, move this kitten to this character to unlock traits. Why did you make pvp an inventary management simulator? What a joke.

I still do not see why we should be revealed on block/evade/blind, I think the writing alone in white saying “blocked/evaded/blinded” is more then enough because the text is where the thief is so surely you should be able to react to that – and backstab has close to a second after cast, it’s tactical strike that has a very short after cast time and is probably just as dangerous. Many times in duals vs thieves I predicted a dodge while they are in stealth and got the “evade” only for to turn around and CnD right back at him/her because the text told me where they were.
The ONLY thing that might be worth (nerfing) is probably tactical strikes cast time, you spam that 2 times per second so vs ages it’s going to land far easier then bs will do.
What about headshot cast time? Shouldn’t a ranged interrupt that is spammable have a cast time associated with it to make sure thieves use their brains when using it.
Still? Admitting your mistakes is generally a good trait in life. Being stubborn and unresponsive to feedback is probably a bad trait to have if you want to design video games.
How about anet be professionals and admit we were right all along and just remove this map?
gw2 is everything else than remarkably well balanced.

the whole game is in a state of overpoweredness and spam. core specs are basically useless, half of or even more of all skills / weapons are useless and should in no way be buffed with cooldown reductions. gw2 pvp used to be all about dodging high impact skills/combos or baiting dodges so you can land yours. this aspect of the game is close to nonexistent these days. balance looks different. just because it is playable doesn’t mean it’s well balanced.
You nailed a very important concept here. The dodge mechanic of this game is so unique and is really what made it special for pvp. They keeping giving more and more block/evades to the point where dodges are becoming less and less relevant
Yup, it used to be clever use of dodges was key. Now you simply have to chain all your dodges/blocks/evades as much as possible because all skills are spammable with short cds and hit so hard.
Too many dodges, blocks and evades which are just spammed to avoid the massive damage skills on low cd with hugely powerful passive traits behind them.
This is a terrible idea but I still voted yes because at least its a change.
It is a bad idea because it leads to more bad feeling in games with things like 3x necro or 3x thief comps which are not fun to fight with or against.
Secondly, you are the designers. It is literally your job to make these decisions. You have the experience not us.
Hopefully it will force their hands to stop Profession stacking, or to actually balance the classes for the game mode
Profession stacking is a red herring. That is what I am saying. Anything they could do to fix profession stacking will have much worse side effects than the small benefit of fixing profession stacking.

This is similar to many other “issues” with the game.
In the grand scheme of things, diamond skin may be balanced, but it’s the type of ability that shouldn’t be in the game.
It’s useless in tons of instances and way too hard a counter in other situations.
Just because these average out to be “balanced” doesn’t mean this type of delta between uselessness and OP is the right “fix”.
In fact, it makes it a pretty lame and lazy way to"fix"things.
I would think you’d want the game to showcase differences in skill versus who simply picked the right build/profession.
Some advantages should be given by your build, but not to a ridiculous extent.
Mesmers are even more ridiculous in how their builds hard counter some specs 1v1, but it’s “justified” based on some perceived weaknesses in group play and 1v1s against other classes.
Tone down the ridiculously abilities for each profession and the game will truly showcase skills > build.

The thing is even before this change I made a thread on it and LITERALLY dozens of top players came in to say this change was a terrible idea. But they dont listen to people who understand how the game works (the top players). They just listen to the bitter people who got rolled by a necro and now qq about it.
If they have the humility to fix this trait then I will respect them. I suspect they will try to balance around it which will lead to more power creep. The fact is, staff and scepter on the necro need more damage in their attacks to counter things like this, But this would be a bad idea for the game generally.
Anet really dropped the ball on this one. AND what is worse is that they were warned this would be the case. Warned by elite players…lots of them. They really really need to have no respect for their player base, and to stop thinking they know best all the time. This change was horrendusly bad for the game. Absolute disgrace of a trait. Makes the game seem like a joke.
