I stopped reading after you said warriors do more damage. In an aoe vs 3 targets, all in melee range then yea, warrior wins. Against a boss, thief wins. Thief needs to play better, but they still win.

Every time I hear this it amuses me. Just going to let you know that thief is pretty kitten good in PvE. The reason why people think they are bad is b/c they saw bad players playing thief and spread the word. Now the whole world thinks thief is bad.

Get a good thief on your team and you’ll find out that the thief can be the best class in the game. If you need some tips or advice on how to be a good thief, this is all you need to know. Fields and finishers, use them.

People complain about thieves only doing damage? Warriors get praise for doing the same thing but still do less. We may not give perma aoe fury, but that guardian or warrior or mesmer will pick up the slack there while you soak up and use those boons better than any other class.

Oh and people actually complain about survivability?! When you dodge or evade, you don’t take any damage. Any class can do this so why would you need tanky gear or traits? It’s not like any decent player will have any problem avoiding the telegraphed attacks.

Last thing to you non-thief players. When a thief is stacking invis for the team, don’t act like a kitten and run out of the refuge or rush away from the cluster bomb spam on smoke screen. Makes you die, makes the mobs agro farther, makes the aoe hit the smart players (who are invisible and supposed to be safe), and places the mobs (who would have been way out of range) to be waiting for the players as they exit stealth. Save everyone a headache and don’t make yourself look like an idiot, wait those 2 seconds for the free stealth and enjoy the free run to the end.

The issue with PvE balance has less to do with classes and more to do with the environment.

1) Most damage in PvE is largely avoidable with dodges, which means that healing and defensive support is often not entirely needed and serves more as a crutch to groups who are new to content. If players were to take more small bits of unavoidable damage, then there would be a need for healing and support-based characters, even with experienced groups.

2) Support options often have a small effect on output and a dps-oriented character can generally bring enough support without having to sacrifice dps. Because of this, there isn’t much need for people to bring support-focused builds, even if they aren’t entirely defensive support builds.

A zerker warrior on the ground does 0 DPS while on the ground, but it’s quite possible that their average damage throughout the run is still higher than the engineer, necro or ranger’s, especially considering the average gear people have on those classes. Also, they wouldn’t be on the ground as much if they had a proper anchor relieving melee pressure. Just because you went down last doesn’t mean you’re the best player in the group, it means the enemies considered you a low priority.

i wish 3 thieves and 2 rangers could do that….

Bet 3 thieves and 2 mesmers could. All you need is massive melee dps and those projectile reflections.

Are there rainbows? In this alternate reality you inhabit, I mean.

Thief has very similar single target dps as warrior. Drop ambush trap and thieves guild in at the start of phase 2 and they won’t die if he does his aoe. You now have significantly higher dps than warrior. You MAY need 1 warrior just to drop discipline banner and fire field but that’s it.

Don’t hate if you don’t know what a class can do.

The 3 second Revealed seemed to fit just right with CnD to Auto Attack chain. The 4 second Revealed screwed this up, now we need to let the 1st Auto hit on a second chain before we hit CnD again. It’s just messy and rough. I run mostly PvE and run a CnD build. I’ll switch from S/D to D/D depending on the situation. Got my 6x Mesmer runes for S/D and with this change it lessens Tactical Strike. D/D is quite good sustained damage with backstab, this change reduced our ability to backstab there for reducing our DPS.
The changes lately are more than nerfs, they attack the core mechanics of the thief. A once ‘elegant’ stealth rotation is now clunky. The agro/stealth mechanic that once helped us stay alive is gone.”

i think its 100%.. untill now i cant time my CnD well, or sometimes its made me to w8 for this 1s and got killed cuz of it..

i HOPE they will give this some attention pls..

well the gameplay WAS amazing until you nerfed stealth to 4s. Now it just isn’t smooth or natural feeling. Disappointing that we have to deal with it until it gets reverted (pve point of view here).

There we go…

Backstab rotation totally destroyed and Caltrops -5 seconds duration. ROFL

Thanks God they buffed Warrior’s banners, otherwise we would lose a ton of DPS XDDDDD

Oh!, and corrosive traps now works with shadow trap to apply vulnerability!!!! Supercool!!!! This way our target now has an indicator that he stepped on the trap and he’s marked XDDDDDD ROFLCOPTER
