Yes, giving the defenders an advantage for once is a terrible, terrible thing. Why on earth would we ever want to punish the blob that marches up to a tower or keep and drops six rams in two seconds?

If it’s any comfort to you guys, 90-95% of the folks who end up in EB in a week are militia. The only time you’ll really see organised guild groups from us in there are when they really need the extra hands. We do know and accept that as far as EB goes, if we do well, it’s usually because of extremely competent commanding and management of militia and/or sheer numbers.
Our entire server right now is essentially militia and we have no major WvW-only guilds, only some guilds that often do WvW in smaller groups working together. [Kiwi], [KT], [SBI], and a few others have good showings, but they always lead the militia, they don’t run exclusively as a guild in huge numbers.
I liked the way someone else from SBI put it in a previous week’s match-up when he said we’re a pub server.

If your group can’t kill a single person who has to stand completely visible in a small circle to contest it, you really don’t deserve that camp/tower/keep/etc.

I’ve played DAoC, ShadowBane, StarWars Galaxies, LOTRO, SW:TOR, and a few others. I enjoyed them all or I wouldn’t have played them. But, here we are over 15 years later, and I still think original UO (pre-Trammel) was the best MMO, period. And I thought that through everything I’ve played since.
At some point though, because of economic pressures or “new ideas”, all of them have gone to kitten. GW2 is no different in that regard. It appears to be going in the wrong direction.
This cant be serious? Why not increase keep door/wall HP while you are at it? And also change the name of the game to TurtleWars.
To be honest we need more turtling in WvW anyway.

Unless of course you’re playing a game. Then you continue to fight because you enjoy the experience, whether it makes a difference in the final score or not. After all, the final score is the least beneficial part of this game.

The reason I’ve heard was it was to fix a bug that caused mobs including Champions to immediately drop combat when the thief stealthed, causing the mob to fully heal up. It basically tripped their combat over protocol.

In short the answer is, NO.
Think of it as a business side rather than fairness or individual. WvWers have asked for progession to make thier WvW more fun and rewarding. If ANET was to release this already giving veteran players titles then there is no point to this progression update. This update is to keep players in the WvW Universe and to invite new people who might be interested not to hand veteran players all their progression and therefore making progression useless. ( I might see them giving us a little head start though.)
If you are a veteran of WvW then you already know all the things about it and so you have an advantage to people just joining. Think of it as practicing before a big race.
ANET is a business and must think like a business. If thier existing consumers complain though then they might implement a head start for those existing WvW consumers.

It doesn’t even have to be off damage done or not include events. All it has to do is be a static number that gets divided by the amount of people who contribute.
Example, player a is rank 1 and worth 100 wexp, he is killed by a team of 5 only 2 people do damage but since its a team they split the xp, each person gets 20. Now player A is haveing a bad night and gets run over by the Zerg. Only three people do damage but each of those people is in a different group and the xp now gets split 15 ways so everyone gets about 7 xp.
Same can be done with events. Just scale the xp reward to be more in line with the amount of people it should take to claim the objective 2 for road guard 5 for supply camp 20 for tower etc. add a bonus for enemy players being in the area so defending (which rewards you several times during a siege) has a purpose and also adds a little extra to you if you take a defended point and bam. Decent system.

WvW has gotten the short end every single patch. No one will disagree with this.
I will stand by my belief that WvW is in a fragile state and if you create a division with players in PvE, WvW will have a slow death.
I know many PvE players who want to love WvW but the progression is not there so they PvE. .
I feel like this progression system is important to start off on equal footing with everyone for this very reason: hook PvE players and then keep them in WvW because it’s fun and rewarding
I’m ok without the passive abilities. I can – sort of – understand not getting those from the start. Although there will be a reality where some people have them and some don’t anyway based on who earns them first.
They also made sure to only put in passive abilities that do not seem to be game breaking and did not put in the full spectrum that they are developing for WvW in this patch so it is possible that they intend for people to get them as of the patch based on their current achievements instead of having them be earned later.
I just think it is a giant f-all to the WvW community if they wipe clean everything we have done to this point short of badges when we were already behind the power curve regarding rewards/achievements compared to PvE.
Even still, I think I could – settle – for the titles based on my accomplishments and earn the abilities progressively. To have nothing except maybe ascended gear for badges (which is hardly compensation given PvE content has provided people with months to get them already), would be way over the top and more or less wipe everything WvW players have done for the life of this game.
That kind of attitude is repugnant.
Here ANet does something nice for the community and you throw a temper tantrum about a rinky dink title that does not really mean anything significant other than kill count…
regardless what the issue is stealth is killing the roaming part of WvW. I solo roam all the time, I would say 90% of the people I face are thieves . Now days it’s not even single thieves anymore it’s an arms race. Since thieves find themselves facing other thieves now thieves run in packs of 2-3 . As a soloer 1 thief is fair 2 is not beatable 3 is insane.
Nonsense. I almost never face a thief in WvW.

Depending on what you’re playing, you can use any blink skill to teleport after the thief. The stomp channel won’t interrupt, and you’ll be able to kill him. Otherwise, you shouldnt have too much of an issue getting them before they still. Make sure you cancel channel as soon as you realise a thief has moved and you’re sure you can’t blink towards them.
What if players you kill droped all the non-sb gear and coin they got from wvw (including harvested mats) and didnt bank on a “open loot” bag?
What if the jumping puzzle didn’t exist?
