[Suggestion] Armor/Outfit gender option.

Being someone who primarily plays female charr and asura I’m often put into male clothing or unisex as it would technically be for them. Yet I’m are put into the female version of outfits.

So why not give players the option to chose the gender version of our equipment?

The fact that charr and asura is able to use both the famale and male equivalent of the different armors and outfits proves that it shouldn’t be too problematic to do with the other 3 races.

It would surely produce a fair amount of interesting, hilarious and epic armor combinations.

GW2 and Other MMOs - Differences in Content

Hi everyone,

We understand that the purpose of this thread is to offer constructive ideas. However, as it could quickly turn into a discussion about other games, we will ask you to please focus your feedback around Guild Wars 2. All off topic posts will be removed.
Thank you!

Completely agree. This isnt a thread to compare games but more a thread to ask those that are complaining what exactly they have an issue with and how they would change GW2 going forward based on the post-launch models of other games.

In response to you Phys, can I assume that the main grievance you have is the lack of permanent content? I seem to remember reading that ANET were looking to make more LS content permanently available. Would this change your views on the LS model if this was the case?

its not just wether it stays around, its also the goal and aim of the content.
most of the living story content is fairly shallow, which makes a type of sense, because it is short term.
Even if living story content stayed around, it would still be fairly shallow and forgotten. The key here is to make the type of content that players who have played the game a bit, may be looking for.

They need to expand and deepen the game. While they could do that with living story, they probably wont, because living story is meant to be something that in general everyone can get into even if they are new, this generally makes it fairly shallow for older players.
living story isnt based on deep lore, or story
because they cant be sure anyone has experienced any of it
living story isnt based on high level content
because they dont want it to be just for high levels
Living story cant be too long
because people have a limited time to be able to digest it
Living story tries not to be progressive
because they cant be sure people have played any of the previous parts.

They could break these rules if they wanted to, in fact for living story to work, i think they will have to. But i dont think they see it that way.

Permanent content, i think they feel more comfortable not following those rules, because people can deal with it at their own pace. But truth is, even within the permanent content, they generally havent gone too deep.

Even on their major additions that have stayed, or even the ones they started with, they have not gotten any deeper.
Personal story, hasnt gotten deeper, and probably has been abandoned
Dungeon progression, has not happened,
Exploration progression doesnt really have any reinforcing systems other than experience. and possibly guild trek
Guild Missions have been fairly static, and not sought to get any deeper than initial release.
fractals, actually did get somewhat deeper with instabilities, but the method of reward and progression didnt reinforce the system at all.
Dynamic Events, probably the deepest system on release has not expanded, or gotten deeper, the reward systems in place for them are also not properly designed to encourage their strengths.

The game is full of a lot very good ideas shallowly implemented. In a normal MMO this is fine and even good, because it has room to grow. But after two years, GW2 isnt getting any deeper, and it isnt getting more expansive. In fact the meta is generally making the game shallower.

Day 31….

My fellow survivors and I are still adrift on some forsaken ocean, forgotten in the wake of the Megaserver apocalypse. Morale is low. Many of us didn’t make it this long, leaping overboard with broken spirit and hoping the fates would see to give them a better life in the great beyond.

With nary a devpost in sight to offer us hope I fear we will not last long.

Day 31… Megaserver nightmare continues.

It’s been a while since I visited a Temple. It seems like the 6 gods have forsaken us on this overflow-ocean. At last, Malchor has truly been “left alone”.

We lost many when we encountered the Kraken Wurm monster. As we rushed to face the challenge that might give us hope in these dark megaserver times, by some invisible hand our friends were torn from our side and we ended up in different realities. Brothers and sisters in arms scattered across unknown dimensions, cursed by the hardcap-bug never to be joined with their loved ones. Scenes of chaos still haunt my sleep.

Last week we spotted the dry land. My heart leapt with the hope of seeing firm server-land again, my dehydrated lips dreamt about kissing the solid ground… But as our guild-raft approached, there was a queue at the shore and the Blue-tagged natives refused to accept the PvE refugees.

Very good post. I think it says a lot about some of the underlying problems with the game without pointing fingers and adding “Anet needs to do (X)” every other sentence.

I agree with some of the others. It sounds like you’re overloaded and just need a break.

As far as the Ascended gear and whatnot, it will still be there later. So will the 90% of the content that can be done without it.

A word on the Dungeon issue:

Are you using the LFG tool and websites solely to find groups, or are you trying to start groups? Sometimes, there could be people out there who feel as you do, and they’re not seeing it either. Before you leave, you might try posting a LFG saying something like “Looking for casual run, no speed clears or ‘pros’…Chatty folk encouraged!” and see where that gets you. Who knows? maybe it’ll be a new “career” for you and you’ll be known as the go-to guy (or girl) for casual, fun dungeons instead of farming runs and speed clears. If I had the time, I know I would do it. Alas, I am lucky to have an hour at a time to log in any more. Real life sucks that way sometimes.

First, absolutely fantastic post, Soa Cerri! I thoroughly enjoyed your use of vocabulary, player psychology, and compared that to your own experiences to deliver your points. Also, thanks for getting emotional, but not letting it detract from the overall flavor of your post.

My advice would be like the others, just take a break for now. Use the Developer Livestreams or the content preview posts on the official website to decide if a particular Living Story aspect interests you. If it does, sign on and play the content out slowly over a few days, not necessarily going gungho after the achievements (unless those are the sort of thing that drive you).

3k hours is almost an unhealthy amount of time (IMO) to have played the game for only 1.5 years. I believe my GW 1 character is somewhere around 4-5k hours, but that’s over the 4-5 years I actively played the game.

I just did the math, and not counting the few recent months since August, your 3k hours is 34% of a year’s time invested solely on GW 2! The exact math of 477 days and 2988 hours invested calculates 26% of the hours within the 477 days are logged into GW 2!.

If perhaps for the sake of your own health, take a break and find either some other game to play or some activity outside of gaming. You may find a similar spark as to the one you felt when you first started playing GW 2.

Take care, Soa!

My suggestion to you is to take a break from gw2.
Maybe play some rpg or fps.
Just spend your time somewhere that isn’t guild wars 2, it has burned you out.

In regards to your points, I agree with most of them.

I would like to add in part to the dungeon point. I don’t think guild wars 2 in pve encourages communication, which has made me kind of sad since the launch of gw2.
Everyone is just quiet in the dungeons, it’s all about the dps, there’s no tactic unless it’s a new dungeon – everyone already knows all of the dungeons so there’s no need to talk.
The only communication that happens is “kittening noob why are you standing there?!”
and “You should have done that instead of this.”.
There’s nothing else in the communication. And as such I so far have added 13 friends to my friend list since launch, and have only moderately spoke to about 2 of them regulary. Makes me feel alone like hell.
I have a big guild, I communicate with them too, but even in guild chat there’s not much talk going on.

I don’t know if it’s the game or my server, but people just don’t talk to each other as much as other people do (in my experience) in other mmos and online games.
