I understand why this sort of thing is wrong, and I think it’s terrible that some people are getting enjoyment out of purposely spoiling movies that others haven’t seen. However, I don’t see why this particular subject is receiving special treatment.
Over the years, I’ve observed far worse behavior go unpunished… including verbal abuse, griefing, bug exploitation, spamming, et cetera. The players that I reported never got banned. Furthermore, there isn’t even an option for specifically reporting “hacking” or “exploit abuse” under the report menu despite how important those issues are. Don’t tell me that “movie spoilers” is going to be added to the list…
This thread makes me not want to talk about any new movies in map chat now because I might get reported and banned.
Thanks, Gaile.
Can we actually play hotjoins or custom arena servers while we wait for queue? I’m not being unresonable, I don’t care about wvw or pve, just let us do something while we wait in queue (queue waiting simulator), most of the time before this prison system happened we would mock 2v2s, 1v1s, practice 1v2s, etc. just let us DO SOMETHING please.
We began this cadence with the release of HoT in October which undoubtedly changed the way that the game is played across all game modes.
In all fairness the fact you thought this to be a good idea just shows how completely unexperienced Anet is when it comes to balancing. I mean seriously did nobody get the idea hey we add tons of new stuff and will only have 4 weeks worth of data without much time to balance it, this won’t work? Or was it just extreme overconfidence? I doubt if even the most experienced balancers could pull that off and lets face it those do not work at Anet.
Also starting competitive play on a serious level without having a half decent matchmaking? Not a good idea. 2 more dropped balls in my garden, and the layers are already stacked.

You do realize they waited an hour in Q. Not for all those matches, but I was watching the stream last night and they had an hour Q. Should they wait forever? Or should they atleast get one match in when there is no one near their division or should they continue to wait until more diamond people log on in like 3-4 hours? I don’t think it’s fair to pair them against pugs or casual teams, but you can’t help that the community isn’t nearly as big as ANet wants it to be. Here’s how I see it:
-They wait an hour in Q and get a match and most likely have to wait a pretty long time in Q again after that match
-You wait 2 minutes in Q, get destroyed by them and then get another Q after the match in about 2-3 minutes. Can’t really complain when you are getting 2-3 more matches than they are.
Their queues are long becuase their mmr is high. Their mmr is higher not becuase they are better players (maybe they are better, but that is not the point), but becuase they queue as a premade with comms to give themselves an unfair advantage to boost their mmr artificially high, forcing them to play with emerald mmr to even get queues. If they were to play normal from the start, that is, not as a premade, plenty of people would be at their mmr. Matchmaking needs to only be solos and maybe duos if duos if they are matched vs other duos, that would fix this 100%. The majority of people are these kinds of players anyways, and there are custom arenas for scrims for teams. People looking to play with friends can queue unranked, where there is nothing to gain so there is no reason to care about people exploiting the current system for pips. You are right that there aren’t enough people to make 5 man teams and queue blindly, but just because there aren’t doesn’t mean you dump the ones that do vs solos and duos for an unfair advantage.
TL;DR Solo and duos queues only. Add team queues for people who want to wait to play competitively with friends. Pro teams can get plenty of practice from scrims, they only have crazy long queues right now because they have exploited themselves so high playing as premade vs mostly solos.

Have read somewhere on here, in an post, that even though luck appears to stop at 300 it does continue up…
Copied from GW2 Wiki post
After reaching 300% magic find bonus, the bar will turn green. Luck will continue to accumulate up to 472,510. It is important to note that Essence of Luck can still be consumed after this point, essentially wasting the item.
Dont know If I will reach 472,000 in my lifetime but what a naff system that stops before it stops (assume there’s no extra bonus’s after 300).
Personally… I feel that if a player achieves that figure Anet should them GIVE them a “luck eater” as a “Thank you for playing with us so long” gift…. not gonna hold my breath on that one though…..
So with everything going on and all…. this is something you decide to post about? And you’re proud of it?
Interesting…

You forgot the worst part about the new meta.
The devs freely distributed daze like it was cotton candy.
Pretty much every single meta build right now got an obscene amount of AoE daze or area denial effects that knock you down, if you happen to evade into them.
It’s come to the point, where you don’t get to use your heal skill for more than 5 seconds, because the opponents just keep dishing out their cc effects without even focusing you in particular.
A lot of the obnoxious builds of the past at least weren’t all that strong in big team fights. Most of them were feared for their ability to crush anyone who tries to beat them in a 1v1.
Dragonhunters, Druids and Chronomancers can shut down an entire fight with an oversaturation of control effects that just happen as a byproduct of them doing their thing. At least a hambow had to hold up stability, make sure, he didn’t get interrupted or blinded, before he could lay down the pain with his earthshaker… And stunning the opposing team was an entirely deliberate act.
I was already kittened at the celestial meta because it basically revolved around running in circles while spamming omnidirectional skills that didn’t require any aim.
Boy, and I thought that was as obnoxious as it can get. We now have builds with omnidirectional daze effects tacked to their weapon swap.
Just how much more messed up can it get?
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
Most of you probably don’t know me unless you frequent the ranger forums. Though I am sure some of you read my recent salt post. I thought I should create a more organized post.
I have been an avid user of the Longbow/GS Shout Ranger playstyle for three years now. So you know I am used to running underperforming builds.
In PvP I have managed to make it to what I have to assume is as high as a solo quer can get in MMR. I was regularly partnered against PvP teams that are normally in tournaments even before the release of HoT.
This is despite running what is probably the WEAKEST build in the history of GW2. I ran longbow/gs with shouts back when longbow could be sidestepped while WALKING. I ran it during the condi meta where the only condi removal I had was trooper runes. I ran it during the bunker meta where my auto attacks did less than 400 damage per hit. I ran it during the DD ele meta where the salt flowed freely in the oceans of tears.
I outkited and outplayed the condi players. I perfectly timed my bursts against the bunekr players. And I laughed at DD eles as I slowly wore there health down while steadily cleansing their burning piece by piece waiting for my fern hound to land its knock down (kitten takes awhile).
And all through that. I have never felt like anything I did was actually pointless. I always felt like in the end my skill was what mattered. That despite running a HORRIFYINGLY bad and buggy build I could out play anything that stood in my path.
That feeling is gone now. And it probably won’t come back for AT LEAST 3 months.
When I que now I can look at the enemy roster and know without a doubt how I will perform. Because there exists builds and effects in the game that can’t be outplayed. Because there are critical tool sets that HAVE to be had to succeed in this…I am not even gonna call it a meta…
Two tempests on the enemy team in stronghold? I lose because I will get 0 kills and even if I land every burst perfectly. Even killing a doorbreaker is impossible…much less the channeled heroes. And thats not even talking about trying to defend your own doorbreakers against something you can’t hit.
Two malyx revenants in conquest? I lose because they counter EVERY strength I can produce. They can take away my mobility. The boons I rely on to gain enough power to be a threat. The damage of my bursts. My ability to control them. And even my ability to run away from them.
And thats just for me. I have seen a lot of salt pass through this forum the last week. I can’t even come close to imagining ALL of these are just “L2P” issues.
I am at the point where the tools I need to be successful in PvP in its current form…don’t exist. They simply aren’t there. Its like I look through all the possible weapon combinations and come up with…nothing.
In the end. I find the only option I have is to give up a playstyle I have managed to make work to AMAZING success for 3 years. A build I was able to make work against builds that supposedly hard countered me. Not even counting all the bugs innate in my utility choices >.<.
So I am at a turning point. I either give up 3 years worth of effort, mechanical knowledge, and skill in order to not be literally a wasted slot dooming every team I join to what is effectively a 4v5. Or B. Stop PvPing entirely and give up goals I had set for myself 3 years ago.
Honestly. I am writing this hoping that PvP community can find a different way I can take. But I am so deeply buried in my own salt that I can’t see it.
Ill go ahead and say. What I am looking for isn’t.. Oh just go condi…or Oh just go druid. Or oh just play revenant for awhile.
I am trying to find a way to salvage SOMETHING of what I have built. I hope yall can help.
Edit: Fixed some grammar issues (I missed some I am sure)

More players will just move on.
Playing a game shouldn’t be like organizing D-Day.
However, if gaining pips is his main concern and he knows 4-man premades are incredibly advantageous for doing so, why doesn’t he himself queue in a group of 4?
Of course he could farm pug’s with his team, but what’s the point? Where is the fun in that?
Sometimes people just want to solo queue or duo queue, believe it or not.
I think he actually wanted to show that getting high rank is possible while Qing alone or/and playing unviable classes. He proved the opposite though.
The joke is, i and many other players posted exactly same concerns (premades vs solo, farming ranks with low mmr person on team, high mmr affecting progress etc.) when leagues were first announced. All of the feedback got ignored. Things are happening EXACTLY like they were predicted (and btw we didn’t reach the worst of it yet). EXACTLY same things happend in many other games (wow, league etc.). Blizzard for example had to revamp whole mmr/ranking system countless times to fix flaws/prevent abuse. You would think Anet would do A BIT of research and learn from other companies mistakes (since player feedback on this matter is useless apparently).

Just to be precise: They said that the changes to fractals will hit in December. They didn’t say which day during this month. In other words: 31st is still December.
And to be even more accurate: They didn’t mention which time zone. So it’s December until January, 1st HAST.
In other words: Honolulu, we are watching you!
Well they also did not mention the year. This is a patch for the instanced pve so anything can happen.
Hey let’s look at a few things here…
2.1 Virtues being 10x better than on base guardian with essentially no trade-off.
lol
Justice: Have to be facing target, cast time, generally single target (can hit multiple, but have to be lined up), can be evaded. The pull has a 40 second cooldown.
Resolve: Obvious cast time/delay that can and does get interrupted
Courage: Now has a cast time – cannot be used in the middle of another action.Clear trade-offs – and you just left out/ignored the fact that the Spear pull is on a separate cool down which is nearly double your example of another pull.
2.1 Instacast traps, they might as well not be called traps. So more unblockable, instacast CC, or if not CC, healing then.
Mechanically these don’t make sense and should not be instant at the very least.
I don’t care what you have to say about how easy DH is too counter or whatnot, mechanically broken. Period.Hah. Only 2 are instant cast, and one of those is utility (not the heal.) They’re instant cast, not instant effect, as they have an activation time just like all traps.
But hey, when you have to exaggerate, lie, and get the actual facts absolutely wrong to make your point, it’s pretty clear even you didn’t think the facts were actually enough to make it sound as bad as you wanted.
Or you’re just totally ignorant and have no idea what you’re talking about. So was it malice or stupidity that you got all the facts wrong?
Very well, I was not aware that the pull had a separate cooldown to the spear itself.
Comment still stands that it is a very low cast time unblockable CC, sure not that regular, but still mechanically broken.Test of Faith is NOT a utility and is instant cast. 1 heal, 1 damage/cc, 1 utility instacast.
Doubling down on an ignorant statement instead of looking it up makes you look like an even bigger idiot. Are you unable to read English? I said one of them is a utility (fragments of faith.) The heal trap is not an instant cast trap. But hey, continuing with having to lie and make up things in order to make your point.
I won’t respond to anything else you said because you are obviously just here to defend DH, which isn’t the point of the thread.
What is the point? You clearly don’t have one since you got all the facts wrong. When you demonstratively don’t even know what the skills you’re crying about actually do your post is absolutely worthless. Sticking your fingers in your ears when you don’t want to hear the skills don’t do what you think they did and continuing to shout that they’re “broken” based on your stupidity and ignorance accomplishes just one thing: you have no earthly clue what you’re talking about.
I only touched on DH because I know it well and I don’t play Mesmer. Unlike you, I don’t attempt to discuss minute details of things I don’t know. But hey, shockingly, someone else already pointed out you got that wrong too.
The only thing you’ve proven is that you cry about skills you don’t know about, you make-up the facts you don’t know (instead of looking it up,) and then declare you won’t respond when a silly thing like facts gets in the way of your crying. Given your refusal to respond to the rest (making up empty excuses to ignore the facts), it’s clear you’re now being intentionally dishonest to make your “point.”
BALANCE THIS FREAKING GAME ALREADY.
I freaking hope so, the game is on so many things in a dire need to receiving a significant balance patch, it isn#t funny anymore:
- Base Health needs finally to be rebalanced, the game is still on that in 2012 state, where all the powercreep the game got lately didn’t exist. Base Healths needs finally to be rebalanced around all those changes!
- Condition Durations on all Skills need to get reduced and rebalanced around the new introduced now official Condition Duration Stat Expertise, so that players actually NEED to use this stat to get significantly good and long lastign conditions and not some kind of gifted super extra bonus on top of the current overpowered state…
Condition Builds need finally get to become rebalanced around the fact, that Condition Builds also need to use multiple stats for receiving the best DPS through conditions, like Direct Damage needs 3 Stats for maxing out DPS, so should Conditions finalyl require at least 2 Stats and not only one, so that a Condition build who wantsd to not have only strong, but also very long lastign coditions finally needs to sacrifice something else somewhere significantly, like having therefore lesser vitality or lesser toughness. - Damage Modifiers from torment, Confusion and especially Burning need to get rebalanced!
- The Efficiency of Toughness and especially Vitality need to get buffed, so that finally defensive builds give you also a sigificant much better defensive performance compared to player builds with significantly lesser toughness and vitality.
For example the Health Increase from Vitality needs to get boosted from +10 per point to at least +25 per point, so that a heavy vitality build also will have significantly alot more health, than somebody with much lesser vitality. Thats just a god darn NO BRAINER thats 3 years now overdue!! - Alot of useless traits should get merged finally to create new space for better and overall more useful new traits that fill up the created gaps
- Alot of useless sigils and runes should get merged finally, the game has already way too much sigils and runes, and like over 90% over them are use and worthless compared the the handful of 10%, that are actually useful and define player builds in a significant way. Other compeltely useless sigils, liek those damage sigils vs. specific enemies should get completely removed and reworked as slayer masteries
- Anet needs to think over it to add finally for all the skills PvP-versions, so that they finally stop screwing over WvW/pvE builds, only because they wanted to nerf somethign for PvP. That was god darn it 3 years ago the main reason for it, for why they massively reduced the amount of skills, so that the game becomes alot easier to balance for Pvp and that it would be alot easier this way to give all skills own PvP-Versions.
- They need to add to celestial gear without nerfing all the other stats the need stats with same values. A celestial amulet gives + 72 to all stats
by simple mathematic logic this means, they need to add also +72 to Expertise and +72 to Concentration. And yes, this means a logical straight buff to celestial gear, because celestial gear shouldn#t get nerfed in its stats only because Anet decides to add two more new Stats to the game. All Stats simply means all stats, so its simply a must that this gear should add also points towards Expertise and Concentration.
If they would balanced aroudn these bullet points, the game would be a great step forward.
So everyone knows, the LFG system in the game is getting ridiculous and needs a change.
First of all, there are 6 categories in the lfg system: Open World Content, Dungeons, Fractals, Personal Story, PVP, WVW. the last 3 categories are basically unused and a waste. People who need help or is lfg for personal story posts in open world content, people in pvp never check lfg to group up, typically they already know people to group up with in their friends list or ask in Hearts of the Mists. While no one really uses the wvw lfg not even in eotm, as i have check them countless times just to see if anyone really bothers to use them.
For Open world content, this has to be changed drastically, everything is just posted here, people doing dungeons, makes mistakes alot and post in lfg, people doing personal story, achievements, guild recruiting, dragon events in old tyria maps, dry top, silverwastes, new HOT maps, cof farms, hero point trains….and so forth, you get it, there are just WAY TOO MANY THINGS listed in there that it is hard to actually see which you need. LFG is no longer in beta as it was when it first came out, and it really needs to be changed so that whenever you first start a post in lfg, you should be asked where you want to post your lfg, unlike how it is now where it automatically puts you in open world content as it is now.
Dungeons and Fractals lfg both work fine, but now that RAIDS have been added, there DEFINITELY has to be a specific RAID category so it lessens the clutter in open world content. To add more to open world content, if infact the lfg post is worthy to be in open world content category, it should be further broken down to different subcategories, a certain subcategory for each new HOT Map as the meta for them floods the lfg like a swarm of locusts, as does the lfg for original new maps aka Dry Top and Silverwastes.
You can even say, that an lfg for guid recruitment, achievements, dragon events, and others should have there own category as well, but most importantly as i mentioned before, there should be a last check before anyone posts to put every lfg post in the right category/subcategory, and remove the ability to post in open world content category itself just like you cant post in the dungeon category, you have to go to each specific dungeon subcategory to post your lfg.
Ideas, to further elaborate this change would be great, i’m sure this isn’t the first post about the lfg overhaul, but this is my 2 cents to telling devs about how i feel it should be changed.
Guild Wars Vet since 05

Greetings and salutations!
As the second season of the Living Story gains momentum, we hurtle hellbent towards a battle with Guild Wars 2’s iconic enemies, the Elder Dragons. But all is not well in the land of Tyria. The last dragon battle was somewhat…lacking, to put it kindly, and the looming possibility of further draconic warfare merits some introspection and suggestions. In an attempt to help this process, I humbly submit the following array of constructive criticism over Ye Olde State Of Dragons in GW2.
There are five major problems with the state of dragons in the game that need to be considered. Firstly, we have the problem of looming threats, or complete lack thereof, the fact that the dragon minions just don’t seem to be doing much of anything. Secondly, we have the lack of character in the dragons themselves and the distinct possibility for boredom with fighting six different “ancient and unknowable” foes. Then we have the absence of variety of dragon minions (easily remedied with effort) and the corresponding lack of variation with the heroic forces that fight them (hard to fix, but well worth it). And finally, we have the elephant in the room….the battle for Arah.
My suggestions are far from perfect, but perhaps they’ll shed light on the potential pitfalls the Living Story may face in the coming months and offer advice to improve this epic journey. I sincerely hope in the future to experience a draconic foe that feels like this, rather than this.
Here we go!
(edited by Shriketalon.1937)
Greetings and Salutations!
As the second season of the Living Story progresses, there are numerous advancements in the mechanics to celebrate, but also some troubles and tribulations. One particular burr in the sandal of the storyline shows no sign of ceasing, and thus it seems fitting to talk about a lingering problem with the narrative. The Biconics.
My thesis is simple. The story should stop treating these side characters like protagonists.
The Biconics are not bad characters. Far from it, they are fairly witty and amusing most of the time, and their interactions can be quite enjoyable. But the Living Story has decided that they are the focal point of the entire game, shackling our main characters to these five strangers and declaring them to be the protagonists of the franchise. This is flawed. It does not make sense from a narrative perspective, and it won’t do the series any favors in presenting interesting and compelling stories in the days to come.
In keeping with my oddball format, I’d like to present six reasons why the Biconics are a problem, and offer an example from the Living Story Season 1 of magnificent storytelling as a model for future tales. Rather than interject any of my own speculation or fanfiction into the mixture, I’d like you to solely consider the characters from the game itself who could be at the forefront of the narrative between these two posts.
Ready? Here we go!
I think the OP has a valid point but could have given a better example. Let’s suppose I run to the Grenth event with two minutes left on the final stage event. I could revive people, I could put water field around Jonez for heals, I could manage some interrupts on the summoning acolytes, but in fact what I need to do for the event reward is kill stuff as quickly as I can. Nothing else matters for rewards except damage+kills.
