it kinda seems to me like fractal is an end-game gold sink.
How so?
Do you expect to wipe enough in a single fractal shard to damage your entire armor set 3 times? If not, then the single +1 AR infusion you get from that chest at the minimum will more than make up for the cost of whatever armor you get damaged throughout the run.
If anything, Fractals just gave its players a massive boost in earning potential from non-fractal players who wish to jump in the fray by buying their agony resistance directly.
Infusion costs will drop as more come on the market, unless people stop playing fractals altogether. Right now, 30s guaranteed per fractal chest, I don’t see too many people stopping their grind. And the fact that a +5 only costs 5g on the TP, it’s not all that hard considering the cost of 250 ecto to get that 5ar back on your beta capacitor.
I voted for Kiel. I still think the voting was rigged, because I saw a bunch more support for Gnashblade while the voting was going on. I knew that Gnashblade would have the most support from the playerbase because he’s a charr, and kind of an kitten, and that’s what gamers like.
I accept the possibility that it was rigged, I was just saying actually reasoning for it needs to be presented.
And there was a lot of vocal support for Gnashblade, that’s not necessarily representative of the actual support.
There were a lot of those gnashblade symbols over the silent peoples’ shoulders, too. That and the vocal support are all we have to go by.
You’re not making an affirmative argument with these posts. You’re just status quo stonewalling. Of course people who play purely for gold will resort to other outlets, but there’s nothing that says it has to be this way.
In fact, it’s very basic game design that the most difficult content should be the most rewarding. That’s clearly not the case at the moment.
Besides, you’ve yet to explain a downside to increasing the gold reward in fractals. Why shouldn’t ArenaNet increase the gold reward to make it match other content?
Fractals are for those who want the challenge and the prestigious rare skins. The skins and chance of ascended boxes far exceeding other methods are more than enough to make up for the lower gold per hour.
I can’t repeat this enough.
The fact that they put scarlet into this makes me think again that the entire voting thing was a lie, and that no matter what the players actually voted anet already had kiel selected as the “winner”
I thought that was obvious… after all how come the votes were always 52% Kiel and 48% Evon? During like 2 weeks?
That literally means nothing. If they were screwing with the numbers, wouldn’t they have made “more convincing looking results”? Not that such a thing even exists. This whole “hnnggg look at the vote tally, it was clearly rigged!” excuse is just a cough out by people who didn’t like the results. At least come up with a compelling reason if you think it was rigged.
The fact that there was a 52/48 split is completely insignificant.

Think about it: when the height of what you can do with your villains is for them to be bland and forgettable, and any character you try to give them makes them outright hated, what does it say?
It says you hate the VILLAIN. Sounds like they’ve done their job. It might be popular nowadays to give antihero characters that the audience like more than the protagonists, but does that mean every villain needs to be likeable?
Don’t speak for everyone. Just because (in my opinion) most players lack the attention span to appreciate a slow build-up to a climactic encounter with an arch-nemesis (the lack of which, before she arrived, was lamented ad nauseum by the same community you’re speaking for), doesn’t mean everyone does.
And when those of us that DO have the attention span, but simply hate awful writing say we’re sick of her?
I’m sorry, but this is seriously not good writing. Do some people like it anyway? Yes. But don’t assume that those of us that dislike it are simply too immature or impatient to enjoy good writing.
YOU may be sick of her.
Not everyone else is.
Speak for yourself, not others.
Please point out where I spoke for others there, and keep in mind that it was a response to your previous post. No taking things out of context to make it sound as if the meaning was different.
I was replying to that post, but still referring to the one before. What you post does not get overwritten or invalidated just because you post again.
Stop speaking for others.
Ascended gear and Fractal weapons are the reward, gold is just a bonus.
This philosophy makes little sense in the long term. There is a point where people don’t need or care to get ascended items anymore. That’s what happened with ascended rings before this patch, which left fractals fairly dead compared to other modes of content.
That’s especially true since fractals are nowhere close to the best source for ascended items outside of rings.
Then what’s the big deal? If you want to make gold, and that’s your only goal in the game, then you’d choose the best way to do so. If fractals is not the best way, then you don’t do them.
People who do fractals do it for their own reasons. If those reasons are fractal weapons, ascended weapon boxes, or the fun of completing the fractals themselves, so be it.
Is that quote correct though?
Today I did a lvl 20 fractal run and a lvl 14 one, yet only the first one gave me a daily chest reward. How come?
1-10
11-20
21-30
31-40
41-50
That’s why.
I still want to know for sure if fractal weapons come from level 10 dailies or not.
Take periodic screenshots of the game, including all of the chat text, and make sure you can catch the votekick in action if you have it happening on a regular basis at a specific moment of the dungeon. I’m sure it’s a challenge to do so, so you could always write down the party members’ names at the start of the dungeon and put in a support ticket about it. With enough persistence, Anet can look up the time it happened and the player accounts involved, crosscheck it with their account history, and see if there’s a pattern of kicking pugs to sell a slot.
That’s really the only way I can imagine you’d be able to have something done about it. Otherwise someone could just report someone else they don’t like for doing that exact thing, whether they did it or not.
So I run dungeons pretty much nightly and do almost all of them. And builds that just seem to peeve me beyond belief are the following
1. Full signet anything but thief (i can live with that as long as they have shadow refuge signet thief helps the deeps.)
2. Warriors that run signets which give buffs only to themselves (might/fury) when they could run the banners and have it be party wide.
3. Rangers/engis that refuse to run the party heals which provide water fields.
4. Meditation guards (shouts/consecrations are always better for parties).
5. Mesmers that have absolutely no clue where the iDisenchanter is on their bar (HP is much better now).So I am just curious how many people here run “selfish” builds in dungeons meaning builds that do absolutely nothing for your party. If so why do you do that? It does nothing for your party and if anything brings them down some…. There are great weapons/traits/skills that all classes have which are great for the party… So why the full signet builds, why the very begrudgement when someone asks you to run a banner instead of the signet? I guess I just don’t get it. I understand the play how you want mantra but in something like a dungeon shouldn’t the goal be to play as a team?
Some might say that you’re being selfish by demanding other players bring skills that benefit you.
All classes are stand-alone as long as they aren’t the only ones facing the mobs in dungeons. Each class has its own evasion, condi removal, CC and damage skills and traits. Sure, party synergy helps, but isn’t required.
Conspiracy theories and apophenia abound on these forums, it seems.
Ensure you have someone burning off the stacks of enraged on the firestorm boss…they make him do a lot more damage, spread fire fields more often and drop the larger explosion field. Every 25% of the berserker boss gives the firestorm 30 stacks of enraged, and they have no stack limit. I was using my mesmer to burn stacks and I got him down to 2 or 3 when the berserker was brought down to 50%, and boom, all the way back to 30.
So pretty much have a fast attacker constantly on the firestorm trying not to do too much damage to it, once the berserker gets to 75% health.

Obvious troll is obvious. Dolphin segment screenshot.
Also stated in the description.
OP: it’s a stealth stage. If you get caught, you die. That’s how it is.
Hopefully this thread maintains the constructive criticism these forums require and not be deleted.
I really enjoy this game for a lot of reasons, from dodge rolling to WvW. The world was rich an immerse the moment I stepped foot into it. Once I caught up on the lore by playing Guild Wars 1, I really appreciated the story.
Then a weed named Scarlet was introduced. Sure, she felt a bit wacky, but I was okay with it at first. Then she started cropping up in everything, and it began to feel forced and unoriginal.
Now she is behind the Thaumanova Reactor and there are aether-looking items around the world with a sign saying “DO NOT TOUCH” (clearly of Scarlet design), and I’m just done.
ArenaNet writers, your players are speaking to you.
Listen closely; this is the important part:
We do not like Scarlet Briar!
Her story is being fleshed out gradually…we don’t need to know the entire story and beat her in one update. Want an end-game? You’re getting it. Want an arch-nemesis? You’ve got it. You can’t choose your enemies, you know.
The dredge patrols at the start were on-again off-again, sometimes they were there, sometimes not.
The removal of all the methods of not suiciding just to advance to the end of the FIRST PORTION of the fractal is poor form. Instead of doing what GW1 did and encouraged creativity, the devs for GW2 take offense to people bypassing their so-called “hard work” and remove all the ways people could EVEN LEGITIMATELY bypass those first two door switches. Jumping over an open-top cage? Nah. Using portals to blink people in? Nope. Use items created for specific purposes in-game, that cost karma or coins in order to complete those specific tasks? Nada. Suicide, incur armor damage and encourage class bigotry to those who can perform specific roles? Sure.
Anet: If you’re going to go to great lengths to make the game more frustrating in some regards, at least balance out the rest of it so it at least resembles some form of fun. The dredge fractal is the single reason most players who choose not to play fractals made that choice. And it’s only gotten more and more frustrating with every update.
I’ve had that happen both with the boss fight itself and the phase where we needed to defend the villagers from the running vets.
As long as they fixed the condition duration and speed buffs of those vets, I’m OK either way with not having the stones appear on a regular basis. Nothing worse than having an entire group of 5 beating on a veteran and having them just juggernaut through to the villagers, practically ignoring all forms of CC we throw at them.
Ascendants of the Rift is recruiting loyal, active, and mature players for Late night/early morning (server time) PvE/WvW gameplay. Oceanic English-speaking players are much desired, as are late-night west coast USA and early morning East Coast USA players, but all are welcome and of course having a 24 hour presence would be ideal.
Envy has been around on Sorrow’s Furnace since beta testing days, but has recently gone by the wayside due to foreseen and unforeseen real world circumstances taking leadership attention away from the game. I want to turn that around and bring us back to our glory. If you’re currently guildless, or if you’re active during times where your primary guild is not, this is the guild for you. No rep requirements, no donations, we’re looking to be quite casual but active nonetheless.
We have guild missions researched and ready to go up to Treks, and intend on going all the way to puzzles. I also intend to build up a significant WvW late-night presence with Envy to help fill some holes in the server’s participation times. No guild-dedicated VOIP yet, but we can use SF’s mumble or Teamspeak 3 servers to start, and when membership increases we can see about a private server of our own.
It’ll be slow going at first, but with a strong core of active players, skilled or willing to learn, we can bring Envy back from the brink and restore it to its former glory.
Relevant to the topic though it’s fairly old…I’ve obtained 200 pristine fractal relics so far. I’ve gotten 8 weapons. 4 of those were in the first 2 weeks of doing it: shortbow, greatsword, warhorn and speargun. In the 3 months since, I’ve gotten the other four and they were further and further between each. Now I’m going on over a month straight of daily 2X/3X on three characters without a single one. I was starting to think there was a limit to how many a single character could get, now I think it’s an account limit. I keep working for that mace but I don’t expect it any time soon.
