Juggernaut, Incinerator and Frostfang had the most profound effects with this, and most of them need to become standard. Juggernaut had a big halo of ripple effects that I could do without, plus the hammer itself belched quicksilver any time I moved, stowed or not, swinging it or not. it looked amazing. Now it’s back to its old boring self.

Can we have new legendaries??

AKGeo.6048

I’d like some buffs to some existing underrated legendaries such as Kraitkin, personally. Well, I guess ONLY kraitkin really needs a buff. It’s underwhelming when equipped, and gives players no incentive to make it. Those that had made it expecting it to look the same as it does in the preview window were sorely disappointed in how dark it got in normal use. It looks no more spectacular than some other tridents, and even pales in comparison to some such as the Pact skin or Mirage. Don’t get me started on some of the black lion skins. And the scale/bubble aura just isn’t enough, either. it blends in with a lot of the other effects underwater. The spear at least has its sharks, and the speargun has a noticeable aura (though it could use a projectile update as well, the fish aren’t all that noticeable).

Juggernaut could use a visual update as well, especially at low-shader settings. An increased footfall size or effect (more of a splash) as well as a more dramatic swing-splash effect would do it.

Considering that the bugs with AC weapons were fixed, along with aura intensity stacking, we could use a little more fluff to some of the understated legendaries out there.

Not sure why they’d change Malrona’s projectile AOE to be unreflectable. An overpowered and hard to dodge skill requiring an existing skill mechanic to avoid for newer players (considering it’s a level 55 dungeon).

Way to punish ingenuity.

Instead of getting so obviously angry at Anet for having underwater combat, perhaps you should put in the time and learn the skills so you can do better. There’s nothing underwater that’s overwhelming for a good on-land built character with good underwater gear. If you’re that set on XYZ utilities which aren’t available underwater, you’re already lacking a level of skill. Namely, the level that allows you to change and adapt your utility skills and even weapon sets for the situations at hand. Learn your character, learn your expected enemies, and change skills accordingly.

Suggestion: remove underwater combat

I have made both Kamohoali’i Kotaki and Kraitkin. I love underwater combat. it’s more dynamic, more challenging, and more (excuse the pun) FLUID in design than above-ground fighting. No, I don’t love UW combat because I made the legendaries…I made the legendaries because I love underwater. But it needs work to be more popular.

There are a few pointed reasons for people disliking underwater combat:

1: There’s not enough of it. People are not accustomed to fighting with a true z-axis that doesn’t just involve Death From Above from a wvw cliff or tower wall. People always tend to be poor at something they have little experience in.

2: Some popular on-land classes have horrible underwater combat skills. Weapon skills for Guardians are underpowered and clunky (Spear wall?) and many utility skills that people rely on in on-land combat are disabled for UW combat (thief much? necro wells much? Krait can obviously ground-target necromancer aoes as seen in the second mob in the Underwater fractal, why can’t I? Because ground-targeting simply doesn’t work for obvious reasons.)

3: Narcissistic people can’t display their cool underwater weapons while afk’ing in cities.

Methods of improving underwater combat:

1: Make ground-targeted utility skills work the same way as demonstrated for engineer grenades. yes, you’ve set that precedent, so there’s no excuse not to.

2: Improve camerawork so when you’re maneuvering around underwater you don’t have things getting in your field of view (I’m looking at you, millions of pillars in HotW P2/3 end boss fights).

3: Have a more intuitive way of sinking oneself just like one can swim upwards by hitting the jump key.

4: Give us opportunities for MORE UNDERWATER COMBAT. The current end-game underwater combat is limited to: Underwater fractal, which is only tier 1, so nobody does it anyway unless they choose to roll for it instead of swamp. Fat chance. And Honor of the Waves paths 2 and 3, which are limited to just the boss battles which have hard-to-avoid one-shot kill hazards which turn players away. The remainder of underwater combat is either open-world nonsense or very small smatterings in various dungeons that can be easily skipped altogether. Bring us Bubbles the dragon, make it permanent content with unique rewards, and make at least half of it underwater-based. Give us alternate paths in dungeons that have significant UW fights. There’s a room in AC that can do exactly that. CoE is located underwater…lost opportunity there. Tons of water in Arah without any serious threat. Players will get more practice, therefore will likely start to enjoy it more, given the caveat of the other suggestions I’ve made being applied.

5: Complete the armor sets. Give us a full complement of aquabreathers of all rarities and stat combos. Dealing with just condi damage masterwork or soldier’s rare is unacceptable. Or just let us keep our on-land helm and remove aquabreathers as a mechanic altogether.

Megaservers and RP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

AKGeo.6048

To maximize your odds of running into other RP players more often, you’ll want to make sure you’re on the same world (generally TC and Piken are viewed as the RP worlds), and in guilds with other RP members also on that same world. For example, everyone from TC currently will be set to high priority to sort together, same thing goes with people who are all a part of the same guild (so guild up RP folks!)

Yet in practice that doesn’t really even work. When 20 people from my guild map into Brisban Wildlands to do the guild puzzle and half of them get shoved to a different megaserver by default, when we see maybe one other small guild in the area and a dead map chat, there’s a problem with your prioritizing for server/guild membership. It happens on puzzles, rushes, and bounties, the latter being the worst part because taking the time and reforming parties to taxi in on a bounty can result in a failure for the tougher targets.

I estimate about 500-600g worth of rares and exotics flushed since I started doing it, and only recently have I gotten something out of it: Dawn from four rare greatswords. Considering the price at the time, I made out like a bandit, not adjusting for gold inflation.

I would support this idea. And to add to that list:

- 250 Pristine Relics = 1 Fractal Weapon Chest.

Way too much. to get 250 pristine relics one must do 250 full runs. that’s 50 days if you do EVERY tier. Way too many.

And IF they need to buy a weapon after that many runs, the drop rate is too low to begin with, therefore they need to drop that number down. I’d actually say that 25 pristine relics (5 days minimum) per fractal weapon chest is about right. Ascended armor/weapon chests for pristines at the rates stated in the OP will help trim the number of pristine relics in existence just fine. Fractal weapons aren’t as rare or prestigious as what 250 pristines would suggest.

“Defender of Lion’s Arch” or “Savior of Lion’s Arch” would have sufficed.

just Lol.

On a side note:
People just don’t understand hard work anymore. They want to be rewarded with big things with as little effort as possible. Personally I’d switch the rewards from the story mode and the 15/15 achievement, but it I like it nonetheless.

Plus we got some f/f action, what more do you want?!

Then again, it sucks when you put in a lot of hard work and get crap in return. Which is the name of the game thus far.

Achievements that require almost superhuman care in timing attunements and ranged damage, because meleeing is 90% discouraged throughout the entire event, are not primarily going to get players to play it as you had intended. They’re going to leech the map, get their tags, and stand in a safe spot the rest of the fight. This puts everyone else at a disadvantage.

Just wanted to comment on this specifically. It doesn’t require superhuman care. Just a little bit. Turn off auto attack, watch your buff bar, proceed as normal. I got both the attunement and laser achievements doing the boss “as intended (ranging was probably intended merely due to the damage lasers can cause standing up close).” It’s just people are lazy and don’t want to do any work. If anything, ANet should close up methods for people to be lazy. Besides ensuring the achievement unlocks correctly, there’s nothing really wrong with them (besides being group-temporary and the laser insta-deathing you if you spawn at the wrong time).

Except the event is timed and if you’re seen running around not attacking (because you can’t safely get to an attunement aoe because you value not taking damage by a giant purple stripe on the ground or getting one-shotted by a non-telegraphed random stomp by the hologram itself), you’ll get yelled at and ridiculed for “leeching”.

So you get what you can and launch your attack in earnest, while avoiding attacks, and oops there goes your attunement in mid-volley or grenade toss. Oh well, next time a full server is able to kill all three knights, you’ll get another shot at it.

Mmhmm.

So you can’t avoid the giant red circle that pops up like 5 seconds before the stomp or are you too stubborn to turn on the aoe thing under options because that’s not “your way of playing”? And you can’t be troubled to look at your buff bar to pay attention to when your attune meant runs out so you can be right by the circles to recharge? Come on now guys this is a ridiculously easy encounter if you would bother to pay the least bit of attention to it. The ap situation is unfortunate yes and I’m sure will be fixed in a couple days but there is seriously no reason to complain about these incredibly easily dodged attacks.

There’s no call for insulting me and claiming I lack the ability to dodge. I am able to dodge. I am also not a fan of running around doing nothing while all of the attunement circles are blocked off by a bunch of scorch marks, either.

And the AP situation is not going to be fixed. When have Anet ever changed an achievement to make it easier to obtain?

Any class with a speed buff (might not even need that) and a quickness skill can do this as easily as they can avoid scarlet’s grenades. Just run up avoiding grenades as best you can, hit your quickness skill when you’re fairly close so it’s active before you stomp, then spam F as you approach. A quickness stomp is fast enough to finish scarlet before her aoe hits you if you get on it as soon as possible.

Wasn’t for me, she always interrupted me with that electrocute thing. I’d dodge/spectral walk fine, but get slammed mid stomp by that kitten electrocute.

Flew through it with a party though. (Me doing both the initial and finishing stomp, no different than before, and party member just hanging around…go figure.)

Yeah you need quickness. The speed of a stomp is too long without it. But with quickness, you’ll get your stomp in about a half second after the aoe circle appears.

Good point about the backpack.

This event is hard for the sole purpose of getting people to use backpack blueprints, and remove large amounts of materials from the market, while redistributing gold into the coffers of the tp flippers.

Just spend that 100g and you’ve got the finale with really no lead-in story. Or you can beat your head against the wall on a pug-impossible limited-availability boss fight.

It should be able to be completed without having to shun a particular build or class. Period.

A very very very small amount of points that add towards those greater rewards, yes. It’s still not very significant nor a big deal.

Inb4 something about achievement point leaderboards.

Existing achievements awarding points are all significant. They all add up. Even 5AP is AP, and it’s one daily I don’t need to complete in full. Or five tiers of a pvp achievement. And the fact that they’re likely going to put this into every forthcoming living world update.

There is no anti-melee death zone… You can range safely and only move in when the aoe circle comes up :/

All except for the 300-range 360-degree non-capped aoe attack of the knight’s hammer that takes 95% of my berserker/soldier warrior’s health away in one hit.

I’ve been hit by that from simply moving up and trying to blast the knight with my engineer’s rifle 3 attack, just within range of it.

But nah, there’s no anti-melee death zone, right?

That’s why there’s always a pile of dead people sitting at the knight’s feet? It’s not always because they didn’t dodge the big aoes.

AKGeo.6048

So I just tried that “Kill 3 Legendary Clockworks” quest. It is nothing but a DPS test. Can we please stop having quests like these?

These quests are saying:
If you are not using berserker gear, go home.

No these “quest”, they are actually called events, are not a DPS check, they are events that encourage people to play together. The biggest problem right now is, that there are way to many “unique snowflakes” around that keep shouting “I PLAY HOW I WANT AND YOU PLAY HOW YOU WANT” which is something that just doesn’t work in a genre that is all about playing together.

So in order to play with someone else and succeed in a game that offers an immense variety of stat combos, you’re required to ignore all but one of those combos?

Is this what you’re saying?

People should be able to play how they want, but still be able to complete these events. Learning the mechanics of an event should be key, not maximizing your damage output per attack. Anet needs to make an event challenging in terms of objectives required to succeed. They’ve done this, in guild missions. But open world stuff is indeed a dps test, with limiting mechanics tacked on to put up the facade of being “intelligently challenging”. People who get the mechanics down to a science, such as in tequatl, the wurm, and these Knights, should be able to sail through the event, reap the rewards for their excellence, and move on. Instead, skilled players need to reap the downfall of the non-dps’ers hampered by the condition-immunity and forced anti-melee “death zone” of these bosses.

Even with a full dps build on my engineer, for example, I’m forced to autoattack with my rifle because everything else applies conditions, and those conditions are not applied to me…I’m applied with one random condition with the knight’s condition damage stat, not my own. I know this because I use my tool kit skill for grenades, and I’m traited to apply vuln on each grenade. I get hit with 7 total ticks of various conditions including bleed, poison, chill, immob, etcetcetc. Not 7 vulnerability stacks.

And why even pick on the guy calling them quests? You know what he meant.

You devs don’t seem to really be understanding the main point behind this.

Achievements that have timers are bad.

Events that have timers need to be scaled to be realistically completed with a less-than-full server. You know, that whole “scaling” thing. 20 people on a knight shouldn’t have to burn down the same HP as a full attunement queue. It should scale to allow 20 people to burn it as fast as fifty would. This is not the case. Everyone loses, especially those who are unfortunate enough to get stuck on a lacking knight, because they have the willingness to play it YOUR way. YOU want us to play it a certain way, then make kitten sure it can be completed that way.

I have the same gripe with open world content. Tequatl still requires an organized guild-led event to complete. The Wurm still fails frequently even with hard-capped, fully organized and equipped guild runs. The Marionette’s success hinged on a handful of people per lane, randomly, parties ignored, grab-bag of level sub-80s (potentially level 30-40, considering the zone).

And now this. A two-part event where everyone needs to be on the ball otherwise it’s a failure for everyone.

And what’s with the random assignment of cores? I fought red today on my engineer because I wanted static cores. I killed red. Blue killed theirs. Green failed because they had the leftovers. I got a green core. What is this I don’t even….

If you want to make super-challenging content that requires mass communication and organization, make it instanced, make it selective, and make it worth doing. If you want to make a living story that people will come away from with a smile on their face, then make it easy enough to do while still being challenging, and make the LIMITED TIME REWARDS realistically obtainable without pandering to the Trading Post whores flipping the flavor of the week commodity.

And why is the numerical FIFTY edited? Seriously?

It’s a challenge worthy of being in the game. It’s not a challenge that should be open world. Requiring everyone on a server to be 100% coordinated to finish this event is a mistake. Either increase the server population cap while keeping the event as-is, or scale the event down a little bit. Give servers a little more margin for error, remove some of the mechanics that make the fights ridiculous (constant daze from the sickness without the ability to remove it?), and it’ll be a little more realistic.

After a week and a half of it being live, so far I’ve only heard of two completions. Every server besides those two that completed it don’t even bother doing it after everyone gets their 3 decaps and wurm-specific achievements.

Doesn’t it say something when 90% of the playerbase has refused to even bother with it anymore? Same for tequatl.

sPvP and achievement "rank points" different?

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: AKGeo.6048

AKGeo.6048

So I don’t sPvP a lot. That’s an understatement. I just now got my gladiator title, so I’ve started to look a little closer at the rank system, because I’m tired of /ranking rabbit.

Well, I figured the animal rank was tied directly to that gladiator track, so that when I got my gladiator title it moved on to deer, and so on. But no, I’m still at rabbit. Then I looked even further and saw that with the “rank points” required for gladiator (8500) I should already be past Deer, and pretty well into Dolyak, which requires only 7500.

The rabbit bar HAS moved today a little bit, but nowhere near as much as my achievement track. Does the gladiator achievement also count glory points?

A win in sPvP hotjoin should give me 200 “rank points”, and I’ve got 45 “games won” on my stats screen, 4 tourney matches won, so at the very least I should have 9k “rank points” even if all of these wins were hotjoin. Yet, my bar says 2889/4000.

I’ve also spent at least 10k glory over the time I’ve actually been playing sPvP, if that makes any difference. I understand that glory is earned at a faster rate but still somewhat on par with rank points.

Wiki does not differentiate between the two categories, either, so as far as what I’ve read, I’m down by almost 6k “rank” and a dolyak /rank animation.

Only infused rings have 2 infusion slots.

I’m aware of this. That’s why I’m asking the question.

It’s a viable theory, and supports my earlier Guru-hosted assertion that Kiel isn’t as good as she seems. Especially since she immediately went away from her do-gooder pillar of justice character when she won the election, what with her numerous “slips” of the tongue in the fractal story mode dialogues. She maneuvered her way into power by playing the good guy so the players would like her. But I think she’s got a lot going on behind the scenes.

That would be fun…but I fear such a storyline is too complex for Anet…remember back when Jubilee was about to be released, and we all said: “the watchknights getting out of control is too obvious, so at least we know THAT won’t happen”?

That’s the thing with complex storylines: you don’t really see them coming until it’s too late.

The obvious things you see happening could very well just be a red herring. Simple facepalm obvious stuff that is taking center stage to distract you from the truly devious behind the scenes?

An advantage to this is that you can progress your ruse pretty easily while taking your time with the truly juicy stuff.

That or I’m just being really hopeful. Sue me.

Scarlet blew up the Reactor... or did she?

I explained the reason that she wouldn’t be surprised in my earlier post.

I’d also like to clarify what I meant by “the inquest blew up the reactor”.

The inquest’s experiments went unstable. I believe the player characters are disguised as inquest during the fractal, but are actually non-inquest asura infiltrating the reactor in order to disable it, but arrived too late and were simply a catalyst for the already-fueled reaction that resulted in the disaster.

There is nothing wrong with the control panel phase. Please leave it alone. Its one of the few instances in the game that require at least a modicum of communication and teamwork. If you know how to do it right, no one even has to die. (And “right” does not involve ash legion spy kits).

What, having two people run up and clear the first button while the three others run through the gate, two of them clear the second button while the first two and the third of the second group go in and clear most of each side buttons, open that third gate for the second button’s two who then take aggro of the adds that pop up when the third of the third group uses the panel to open the final door?

Yeah, it’s about as troublesome to make work in-game as it is to type it out on the forum. Apparently for you, fractals should be only done by guild groups with VOIP but inaccessible to pugs? How about Anet’s original stance of praising and awarding originality and out-of-the-box thinking? What harm is it doing to the game allowing us to bypass those first two buttons altogether?

The things that really are hurting the economy in this game are going unchecked, and are even orchestrated by Anet themselves. T2-4 material prices skyrocketing, making it financially unfeasible for newer players to level up their crafting, requiring them to pay those who CAN craft on the TP for their level-appropriate gear, or farm farm farm hopeful to get an ideal-stat dropped piece.

And before anyone can comment on my last point: the game is not only about level 80s.

Well, I’m probably going to be the first to ever do this on these forums, but I officially retract my earlier positions (post-patch, anyway) and change my views on this dungeon altogether.

Considering that it’s required that individual players split up and stand on buttons in order to open up the first puzzle room, and this is while being assaulted by a number of hard-hitting dredge, it’s become commonplace to bypass these two switches in a number of ways. Well, I just sat there waiting for the last 20 minutes while players were trying to get to my location in order to START that room.

Now, this might have just been a poor team, and in some regards the blame should stop there. But the fact that the team NEEDED to know this method (I won’t call it an exploit, because the open top of the cage is obviously meant to be jumped into, even with the previous fix) and be able to complete it on a timely basis is the problem.

Yes, get rid of the first two buttons altogether. Make it a decent fight to get to the room. I’ll be happy there.

Bombs…I think the mobs should be scaled down a little bit, sure. But it’s nowhere near the importance of that first room’s mechanic.

I’m done with fractals until these changes are made. There’s simply no excuse for these problems, especially when their existence has made the majority of the playerbase unable to reliably complete this dungeon in a reasonable time frame. Oh, also considering that Dredge seems to be the #1 pick for the third fractal.

Someone doesn’t know how to use ash legion spy kits

I do, I just prefer not to.

Skin acquirement needs to stay hard

Unfortunately the change doesn’t apply to items that have already been acquired. Ultimately that’s what I wanted but there was a pretty severe technical limitation on this, so we thought it would be better to make the newly items work this way rather than postpone the conversion any longer.

Also, at higher Fractal levels the weapon skins become more common, and also start dropping in a container that lets you pick the one you want.

How about being given the ability to trade a fractal weapon in for a skin? Either one that’s already been transmuted, or one without stats. I hardly believe most people would trade their transmuted fractal weapons, but the possibility remains, and we still deserve to have that choice.

Are fractal weapon containers in game yet?

I’m not completely defending them. I’m saying that what was claimed in the Original Post, that we were “promised fractal containers this patch”, was simply untrue.

If this was already mention i apologies [spoiler]

Because fractals show alternative versions of history i was wondering if the new Thermanova fractal might be a fake. To inspire hatred of scarlet and motivate people against her. Apparently Kiel threatened Desda in story mode to make the fractal her way and this might have caused the instabilities we are experiencing now in fotm to maintain this fake fractal.

Maybe Kiel was the real perpetrator, It was never explained how she knew how to use inquest tech and would be much less boring then scarlet did it.

Also, the fractal portrays the inquest as the good guys who you play as which is probably not likely.

You should have Voted Evon just saying

49 daily rewards suck

Ok so I’m going to throw my hat into this fray with my personal experiences.

270+ daily runs, most are 28 and 30+ level dailies. I didn’t go on higher runs all that often because quality teams were sketchy at best and my usual groups weren’t all on at the same times.

I’ve gotten 15 fractal weapons EVER. I’m seeing people talking about bank tabs full of them for much fewer runs.

I’ve never gotten an ascended weapon chest. Ever. I’m seeing people talking about getting up over 10 since they were introduced.

I’ve also never gotten a precursor drop, from the forge, or otherwise.

My RNG is apparently stuck on a scale much much MUCH lower than everyone else’s who plays this game.

That or half the people saying this stuff are lying through their teeth.

I’m willing to entertain both. But if it’s the first case, then ANET, GIVE ME A kitten BONE HERE.

Why can’t you just run up to 50 with the same people you were talking about “naked level 79’s” with?
