There is very little incentive to defend as well as little to no recognition from your team generally speaking, and it is as is mentioned above.. boring. Defending even in the current system may be more fun if 2-3 defenders of that objective could hold it. But the simple fact that a group can man mode the door down and then run you over with little to no effort is a deterrent for many to not want to do it. Then look at golems, there is nothing more depressing than looking out of your tower or keep, and seeing 5-10 omega + 30 people, when you have maybe 10 people on the map. Those golems will take out most if not all of your siege and range your gate down in less than a minute. Tower taken in less than 3 mins, keep in less than 5.

So figure out a way this can’t happen and add some incentives for people to defend and you may actually see people be more willing to do it, boring or not.

Our population is about the same as it was a month prior to league start. Heavy weekend and NA prime attendance with some OCX. I think world overall is just stale right now, especially with the new matching system. You are virtually guaranteed fighting the same 2-4 servers over extended periods until the bottom tiers grow or top tiers fall. Naturally people will move on to other games or just stop playing when you have little to no new content for people who enjoy WvW or PvP game modes. As someone who used to enjoy world prior to league, I’ve found that post league I really have little desire to be there most nights. The only reason I go out for extended periods is to play with my guild and the friends I’ve made in world.

Congrats yaks on the win. You may not play like mag wants you too but you sure dug in and held the trenches. Its a shame that sbi quit early or this match would have been decided this morning. SBI and mag only have themselves to blame. Sbi quit after a weekend victory and never returned, mag got comfortable and skipped out on Wednesday.
So hats off to you yaks for capitalizing off it

Yep for sure YB did a great job this week. Came back after a heavy weekend push and seems like they got stronger during the week than they were over the weekend. Well deserved win.

??? YB is 20k up since thurs morning. Can’t pull 400 ppt out our kitten s so its safe to call it gg on the ppt game

And YB has clearly been holding a 20k point lead since reset.

yep for whatever reason the majority of guild groups have just decided again this week to leave the fighting to the militia and a few guilds that always come out regardless of winning/losing. Shout out to those still coming out and putting in the long hours this week.

That’s when your achievement hunters went away. This is the start of the second cleansing; where you will find you lose a majority of your matches against servers with similar coverage.
For example, IoJ. IoJ was in decent position, it just wasn’t as good as SBI. They imploded because they weren’t slotted for extreme growth like they thought.

SBI will lose it’s enthusiasm and will have to go about the real business of building a successful WvW server. That takes time and effort. The other T2-T3 servers have spent months building their cores and integrating their casuals. Maguuma has great open field groups, YB has the best defense in the game. SoS has some of the deadliest guilds in NA plus massive numbers of ornery Aussies, and FA is a 24hr threat that will backstab and slit your throat if you blink (not my favorite people right now). TC built up from a T3 server slowly over a year. Their coverage rivals T1 servers at times.

Your transfers got you here, now they have to decide if they want to stay and keep you here.

eh is what I’ve been saying for months, so nothing really new there. We have a lot to work on and most of the wvw pop knows it. If you have been in any of the matches over the last 3 weeks and especially this week, you can see what our true pop is for world. It is pretty small. So if this is what we can expect from our transfers I don’t believe we will stay up here very long.

I didn’t see blame there, but congratulations. You are of course correct in that we are doing it to ourselves, and have been doing it to ourselves for the last 3 weeks. Does it make more sense to run 2-3 tags per map and have the people following you /join squad? Yep it does, and we do do it, but not often enough. Do we have people that get tunnel visioned on certain objectives? Yep we do. Do people here have flaws? Yep they do as do I. Point is you can control only what you can control. I can’t control what someone else does or how they act or react, but I can do those things for myself and I do. I can also lead by example and hope that at least one or two will follow that example. That being said, lots of good fights this week with both Mag and YB. Look forward to having more the rest of the week. Good luck all, see ya on the field.

Had some good small group fights in EB and SBI bl tonight. Jumped head first into a few YB and Mag zergs for the hell of it Was fun though, looking for more throughout the week.

It either a)double teams like it did the past two weeks, or b) rides the coat tails of another server like it’s doing this week. I think the biggest obstacle for Ehmry Bay is our lack of coverage during EU peak times, and both opposing teams are bringing out the heavy artillery right from the start. This is gonna be a hectic and challenging week, and I can’t wait to see how it pans out. I know tension is running high from the 7 week nightmare that was Season 1, but good luck and have fun, everyone!

It’s also that everybody is preparing for ascended armors. I know some WvW regulars are actually farming for the mats so they can make the armors come Tuesday’s patch. On Tuesday, you probably won’t see me in WvW either, as I love Wintersday. That Jumping Puzzle is still one of my favorites, and I love to death the snowball fight PvP thing.

For all the trash talk of who-beat-up-who on this thread there’s very little proof of it. Nice to see Ark blowing up SBI blobs while they rez rush. Funny that the YB footage wasn’t included in the video though, it’s probably not even worth showing.

After being in Gold League the quality of play down here is hilarious. I have seen more rangers in one night than I saw all 7 weeks of Gold.

Imagine the queue time for season 2 if the rewards for season 1 was something like, an asceded armor chest? That would have ended WvW….

While I don’t think an ascended piece is warranted, I have to ask; How is a influx of people supposed to be the end of WvW? Are you on a T1 server perhaps?

I’m not on a T1 but I can say that I completely agree here. We got a huge influx of people for leagues and it totally screwed with the overall feeling of world for me and making me hate any added type of achievements for it. Not to mention how much it disrupted our wvw community.

To comm: can we do x? I need it for the achieve. Pass a sentry more than half your group stopping to cap only to get wiped standing there by inc zerg just so they could get the tic for their achieve. Then yelling at the comm for not coming back to bail them out. Really there is a reason you don’t stop for sentries and that is one of them. PVE can keep their rewards, I don’t want them.

I don’t expect any actually, I do world because it is what I like to do. I don’t do it for rewards, I do it for the fights and the fun I have with my guild and my friends.

Even if you were in a weekend football league, you would get a permanent trophy, with the year and your ranking, gold, silver bronze. And probably a jersey that says something like 2013 champs.

I think you expect too little, wvw should actually give you some cool titles/uniques and similar “pay” to PVE. not saying you shouldnt have fun, but competitions generally have something to aim for.

Well I guess shame on me for looking at the F2P factor and getting only fun from it, over getting something as a reward for playing a game mode I’d have been playing anyways, with or without that competition. I mean really all the gold I spent for upgrades, siege used, dolys run, walls repaired, etc etc, I would have done anyway. Why do I need an extra reward from that? Shame on them for doing it right? Really? No this should not be changed or removed. When there is a large population gap for a match up this is sometimes the only thing the outmanned team or teams has as a deterrent, and quite frankly they should use the heck out of it. Is it annoying? It can be; but if you and your group are silly enough to continue to stand in it, shame on you. Get a better strategy.
