Let’s assume that’s true, it only emphasizes my point. If SBI was unfocused, disorganized, demoralized, etc. the fact that it took all week to pull Ebay out of third place says a lot about YB/Ebay.

We(YB) only really trying to started to push ebay into 2nd last night, though in retrospect, we should’ve started Wednesday night.

Sometime Wednesday, it was obvious to us, that we were going to be 1st no matter what. At that point, we could afford to shift resources into the secondary goal of ensuring you gained only 1 league point from this matchup, instead of 3.

SBI’s main error was not realizing on Wednesday, that they no longer had a chance at 1st, and needed to start fighting for 2nd. An example of your error, would be the huge SBI zerg I saw trying to hit Overlook, not 1 hours before EB ticked ahead of you. That was a complete waste of your limited time and manpower.

Yes, I imagine a lot of us were surprised that you didn’t do just that. I certainly was.

In our match against IoJ, it felt like SBI never left their borderlands.

Well I’m sure much of it had to do with YB being the bigger threat and giving us good fights, which we have gotten from both YB and Ebay this week. SBI did not fight the ppt well at all this week, if that is what we were trying to focus on. Seems like most times we were like chickens running, with a few exceptions. I have learned a lot from this week and hope others on SBI have learned from this experience as well. Minus the trolling(as I’m not totally blameless) and other junk that was going on, it has been a good week regardless of what you read here. Lots of good fights all around and was pretty fun having the role reversed on us this week.

It’s rather pathetic and sad when you see 2 servers having to gang up on the other server because they know they cannot go 1 v 1 against them. To make it worse, at the last minute, Ehmry Bay is having to be helped by Yak’s Bend to get to 2nd place before the reset.

I’m sure there will be gloating that EB beat SBI (not mentioning the help from YB), but think for a moment . . . SBI has been 2 v 1’d literally all week, and yet SBI still was able to hold it’s own.

I wish people would play with more class and accept failure as it comes, instead of using cheap tactics to win a prize in a video game.

Real life war tactics work here. If you look at history, other countries team up in war all the time, this is nothing new, nothing cheating. Unless you call surviving in life cheating.

What can we say, everybody hates servers that are so full of themselves. Though if they’ve gotten better since then, we may get 3rd place this time. Only next week will tell. After watching millennium, and knowing YB got the PD transfer since we last fought them, I knew it wouldn’t be a karma train week.

We might be getting our you know what handed to us, but the last few days have been awesome. It’s not fun when you have to scour the map just just find an enemy, or waiting patiently while another server takes a tower so you can back cap.

I hope our server learned this week that not all servers are just going to roll over and give up. We need to work on our play style, and maybe get some more people to get some commander training.

Yes! Let’s not forget the commanders, good job to those who tag when the times are tough. Haven’t seen so many shy comm’s since our bout with SoR.

One thing I find myself constantly thinking about as league comes to a close is how many guilds/people that transferred for league will stay, and what impact them staying or leaving will have on the overall health of the community. If some or all stay will we lose our old timers? How will it change our strats and what will it do to future match ups? Anyone else out there thinking hard about these things this week?

This week’s match has proven to be very interesting. It shows that when 2 evenly matched server get paired the 3’d weakest party can be a very effective king maker.

The question is , is this a good thing or bad thing? I see both side of the story. It is good because it gives smaller world a reason to go and play with the big boys. On the other hand it’s bad because the out come of a match up depends more on deals with other servers rather than your own server’s play, it make it into more like a survivor kind of situation.

What do you guys think?

I think it’s another demonstration of how disadvantageous it is to be in the 2nd place position in wvw.

You can see a role-reversal from the prior SBI/YB matchup timeline (http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/40/119) which shows the same phenomenon.

The contributing factors are not hard to see for people with wvw experience.

1. The first place server is only threatened by the 2nd place server. This makes it more profitable for the first place server to take the 2nd place server’s structures (because it widens the gap more than taking territory from 3rd).

2. The third place server plays smartest when it attacks the 2nd place server for two reasons:
a. Taking structures from 2nd narrows the gap between 2nd and 3rd most, which makes it more likely for 3rd to catch up.
b. The 2nd place server typically has fewer numbers and worse upgrades (especially waypoints), so its structures are easier to capture than 1st.

In response to those factors, it’s hard to rally your players to show up to fight an uphill battle.

ANet could do more to make it fun and rewarding to play while in 2nd place, but a comeback from 2nd to 1st is terribly difficult as it stands.

In our prior face-off, SBI came out incredibly strong on reset night and YB’s morale was low after getting roflstomped by FA. Additionally, SBI gave us a real education on the value of capping-for-the-tick.

In this match, YB played a stronger reset night and rallied in response to SBI’s monday-morning counteroffensive.

Indeed and you guys have played it well. I think most people expected this to be a faceroll match where they could just ktrain the week away and to their dismay YB and Ebay came out in force and brought their A game. It has been a great weeks for fights, and I’ve been having fun in EB trying to keep our camps

Actually I think most of the dedicated wvw peeps on SBI are having a blast this week. Hardly any queue if one at all and darn good fights all around.

League has done nothing to enhance world play, in fact it has killed everything I loved about going into world. With 3 stacked servers (and yes I realize SBI is one of those – doesn’t mean I like it or condone it) in NA silver I feel for those lower pop servers that had to deal with it through this league junk. Those guys lost a ton of guilds to higher pop servers for w/e reason and I’m sure it has been miserable for them. Seems like Gold and Bronze are in the same boat.

I may have enjoyed it more had Anet 1) blocked all transfers the week before and during league thus securing a more balanced matching 2) basing league placement on 7 weeks prior to league start to get a more accurate placement of servers 3) broken it into 4 tiers/6 servers per tier.

What will post league promote – mass exodus on servers, leaving them placed higher/lower than they should be, which will continue to give imbalanced matches.

If you really want to stretch it: SBI has way more casuals than anybody else that gladly jump on the bandwagon for wins but duck out by the week if they’re losing – especially if they have anything better to do. In which case be proud: your server is the most fickle server in terms of extremes.

It’s been an intense week, and SBI is definitely worthy of their position on the ladder… but its like SBI is insulted to be losing to YB… and no one respects a garbage attitude like that.

YB gets lucky they have their pals with them next week and can ally against BP thus securing them a win. Ebay has nothing to lose this week or next as they wouldn’t have placed in the top 3 anyway.

Dude, come on…it’s common knowledge at this point. You guys wanted an easy league win instead of having to fight tougher opponents. A lot of 13 year old girls would have made the exact same choice you guys did, don’t feel bad about it.

Just look at this thread, YB and Ebay have basically done the same thing. Made compromises to avoid a tough, perhaps unwinnable, fight. They aren’t ashamed of their decision and you shouldn’t be ashamed of yours. Some people just aren’t cut out for tough fights, don’t beat yourself up about it

Have I made any excuses at all in this thread? I’ve done nothing but commend your manipulation of the weaker server. That’s not an excuse because, as you said, it’s actually happening. I actually think it’s hilarious watching Ebay play “little brother” all week. Not to mention, the fighting has been really fun.

Last night for example, we had a huge fight for SM on two fronts…Yaks from the north and Ebay from the south. It was a blast. Eventually Ebay made the cap and had to turn the castle over to Yaks after the five minute RI timer but it was awesome while it lasted.

Well then, since this has been established that Ebay is working in tandem with us, at least to some extent. This is how WvW should be working. As it was designed to work. I’m just happy we aren’t getting ROFLSTOMPED, like before and I enjoy this match up.

Now, let’s move on to a more important subject. Bacon. Yes, or no?

I actually don’t mind YB players being happy about their performance this week, but I’d like them to keep in mind that it’s not a result of anything they are doing internally but rather what they are doing via map politics with Ebay. Map politics and 2v1s are part of the game, and if you want to do them to win it’s completely understandable. If you guys got the organization to pull off a consistent 2v1 you should do it and you’ve done it well, but don’t pat yourselves on the back for beating us and saying how much your server has improved when at the end of the day you are just a bunch of 2v1 tower huggers, and when you dare to come out of your tower it’s in blobs of 50-60 “guild groups” (I’m looking at you [One]/]SE]).

Says the server specialized in 1 blob zerg in every map and nothing else… Oh the irony…

Actually I believe that EB is the only place we do this regularly, most other maps have one main and at least 2 guild groups running.

Yes you have organization and some dedicated players, but don’t imply that you were rolling over and flipping the heck out of anything but camps. I was on D for about 8 hours last night so I know you guys tried and you tried hard and couldn’t make any head way. Only thing we lost was some acs.

I wouldn’t be talking. [Abys] kept getting wiped by us. It was only when our numbers dwindled did you finally get into Hills and take it (very nice job btw). I was the thief trolling you guys on inner for the longest time, btw.

dunno, wasn’t there as I can’t be on 2 maps at once.. but I’m sure they had a good time.. but have to say a camp is definitely different than a keep.. keep is worth beating your head against…

So, you agree with what I said then. Your solution is to bring overwhelming numbers. People like you have zero consideration for the overall health of a game.

You want to know who is left fighting on the losing servers towards the end of the week in a blowout match? The roamers and small groups, that is who. We have incredibly thick skin and put up with a ton of crap. But, make no mistake about it we will be gone when there is a decent open world game that doesn’t cater to zerg mentality via game mechanics.

If it gets you out of my corner or off my map and not popping my camps every 10 mins, you bet I will. Numbers is the name of the game in world and to complain about it is asinine. World is built around large group play, hence the reason every server runs a zerg. If small group fun is what you’re wanting I would suggest you checking out sPVP as it seems like that is what you’re looking for.

Great job bringing it this week Yaks and Ebay! I haven’t had so much fun in a long time – been so bored either stomping other servers or getting stomped by like SoR. A relatively even matchup is great – this is what WvW was meant to be.

And as far as 2v1, if Yaks and Ebay have the strategic players to pull off an planned 2v1 or if it arose organically or if its just done on the fly because its the smart thing to do in any given situation against what was thought to be the stronger server in a match – brilliant! That is excatly how it should be. I’ve been saying forever that there should always be 2v1 against the stronger server – it makes it more fun. Much better than one server giving up and it turning into a roflstomping.

And for my fellow SBIers – don’t get discouraged, this is a great matchup! Stay out there and fight!

Someone gets it. Stomping the whole match up gets boring without any resistance so SBI should be happy they’re getting any!

As for the “collaboration”, I highly doubt it. Both servers obviously don’t want SBI to be first but that doesn’t mean they’re working together. I guess SBI is not use to getting a beat down. :x

Nah, man the ones who have been here before all the transfers know what it is about, it is the peeps who came at start of league and a little after that don’t get it. I’m loving it and so are my guildies. The fights have been pretty darn good, but the collaboration is there. In EB last night(and those of you that were there know what I"m talking about) have a veiled YB zerg come down the hill while Ebay pushes in from the back and they move away after we wipe. Not to say that some of their guys didn’t die in the mix up, but for them not to mash it up after is not a coincidence.

Yes, all servers have bad players who zerg on them. But, no other server I’ve played against will consistently come to defend a supply camp with 40+ people.

And, as to the reason why people shouldn’t do this? It’s called having fun. If that is your idea of fun then what does that say about you? Also, the “but, Timmy does it too” excuse works for children, but not for adults.

Ok, so let me ask you this: What is the biggest deterrent for roamers and small group? Zerg the f out of them. Why would we do this and not let you have fun kitten our supply? Give me a break. We don’t want you taking our camps, and if it is an upgraded camp we definitely don’t want you to have it or the supps in it. Giving you a fight invites you back. Rolling over you makes you post like this and is more than likely not going to make you want to go back to that camp or any other if that is the response you get.
