I haven’t read the whole thread, but I was excited when I got to the new map. I expected to have my elite in a few days or maybe a week. No biggie, I’ve been playing the same specs on toons for a long time. In fact I’m still pretty excited to log back in after I post here to just go explore and figure out how to get around. I personally like the time gating, it gives me time to actually get to see the new maps and just enjoy it on the first day. I’ll admit to a little grumbling but honestly almost every game has gating to some degree if nothing else to slow down progress and keep people from running through all of the content then just quitting or posting that there wasn’t enough to do and that is why they’re quitting. I think it was smart of Anet to acclimate players to the new content, especially those new or fairly new to the game by having them play specs they are familiar with. Even with this being the case I saw so many dead people in a lot of the boss encounters or heck even just the event champs that you can’t tell me an instant elite spec would have made it better for you. The content is more challenging, which is exactly what I would expect in a level 80 area. I should feel like I need to be aware of the environment and the mechanics of mobs. I want to feel like I have earned my spec and not just have had it handed to me in one day. Personally I’d be bored if that were the case. Call me delusional, stupid or whatever name you want to place on me, but I have had more fun in the past 24 hours than I’ve had in more than a year playing. The content is good, the encounters are challenging, heck even just putzing around from zone to zone is fun.

From my experience today, soloing champs isn’t going to be doable at least not on day one, but you can certainly duo most of them, so take a friend. Maybe take a step back and enjoy the content instead of looking for instant gratification. I will also mention you don’t have to stay on one map to get the hero points or mastery points, go explore and just enjoy yourself.

I’m sure some reading this would definitely say that if they’d have gotten their elite spec today they’d not have posted a complaint, as many postings I did read have said just that. I think the dissatisfaction goes deeper than not getting the elite, they don’t like the difficulty of the content, the fact that you have to invest a little time into the game because of work, real life, or whatever. Perhaps I’m just too used to time investment when it comes to games, you want a new piece of gear you grind for it, want a new shiny skin well you grind the gold for it. I just can’t understand the upset when this is basically the same thing. It doesn’t make the game unplayable nor does it make playing any aspect of the game impossible. Anet has already gone out of their way to put veteran and new players on a more even footing by eliminating ways for veteran players to bypass what a new player would have to encounter to obtain the same options. It seems fair to me and honestly the sense of entitlement and the amount of whining about it irritates me.

VEX is a community oriented guild who focuses on developing ourselves and our teamplay. We enjoy all aspects of the game however WvW is our priority. We hold daily raids, with the occasional fractal/dungeon for gear as well as weekly guild bounty for commendations. Some enjoy silverwastes for gold and others spvp. We enjoy theory crafting/strategizing, bad jokes, good music, and we’re all a little bananas. I don’t really put us in any specific category in regards to WvW/PVX as we play the game to have fun with our guildies and it doesn’t really matter what it is we’re doing. We are a small guild looking to grow in ranks and you can be assured that you will never just been a number here. We feel that building a strong community translates to being stronger individually and as a group on and off the battlefield. We have experienced leaders/officers as well as a knowledgable core player base to assist veteran and new players a like. With that being said, how do we approach WvW? We take more of an old school approach to WvW, where we look at sustain and the enjoyment of the fight over feeling like we need/want to one push every group solely to win. We work on coordination and communication daily, and do after fight assessments. Where we went wrong. What we did right, and how we can improve. We do not force guild builds though we do ask that you run group friendly builds that compliment what we are currently running. We will want to know what you’re running so we can help you tweak it a bit if we notice you having difficulty. That is not to say that we don’t have guild builds, we just don’t hardline people into running them, e.g if you’re more comfortable playing a support role (healway ele/tank guard or warrior) we won’t try to force you into a damage build.

What does VEX have to offer you that other guilds don’t have? For me the reason I stay and want to help lead these rabble rousers, is personality. We are a diverse bunch, more often if you pop into our channel in ts you’ll find us listening to music, joking around and laughing, poking fun at each other but never with malicious intent. Sometimes we sit and theory craft builds. It really just depends on what is going on at the time.

What is the average age of the VEX members? early 20’s to mid 30s. We don’t tolerate drama (we take this very seriously) and speak what is on our mind though that doesn’t mean everything on your mind.

What does VEX run nightly? We run between 5-15. If we have 5 we roam and do what we call looking for red, e.g. mostly look for fights or hit a tower or two to see if we can get people to come out to fight (though sometimes it ends up being the full map queue XD) or we may decide to do some spvp/fractal/dungeon/SW if we aren’t really finding fights. The 8-15 range we will also poke at towers/keeps to get fights, sometimes we may get an impromptu skrim invite. We try to defend where and if we can on home bl/ and in the eb 1/3 if we’re there but mostly we’re on the enemy bls.

Here at VEX we understand that people have lives outside of game. We don’t require 100% rep but we do ask that you make at the minimum reset + 2 days during the week. We also rely heavily on our guild website for communication, e.g. for attendance, calendar events, builds, etc.

What are your raid days/times? We raid Mon-Friday 7pm EDT – to about Midnight. This can fluctuate depending on attendance and how the run is going. Saturday is usually an off day we normally do a roaming party as well as the weekly guild bounty. Sunday is also an off day but we roam or run with public comm.

Guild Requirements:

- Moderate understanding of your class and its capabilites.
- Comprehension of game mechanics and the concepts of WvW.
- Willingmess to meld character builds to create optimal group function.
- TS3
- Represent 100% during raids in WvW.
- As a member you must be active. With our current roster of 31 all but 2-3 are active weekly, most are active daily.
- Must be able to tolerate obscene or vulgar speech (F bomb is dropped more than once a night.)
- Must be able to handle constructive criticism and/or be able to self analyze and properly communicate where improvements can be made and what your strong points are.

We are currently accepting all classes, but specifically looking for GWEN.

It isn’t so much that one trait as it is that trait + all of the damage mods in Radiance/Zeal/Virtues in combination with that trait + Feel my Wrath. I just saw a full zerk zerg running this melt a gate in about 3s. In and out in less than a minute on a keep. This reminds me very much of the issue that happened with the new necro heal skill when it was released last year that was quickly fixed, hopefully they’ll be able to fix it soon, because I don’t think overall guardian is “working as intended”.

lololol anet is kitten ed if they do kitten ed if they don’t. people have been complaining for ages about having to complete the wvw maps to get map completion. now they make it not required and people complain about that. as someone who mainly plays wvw I’m glad they took it out. it is quite irritating to hear every 5 mins, “but commander I need that poi or that vista”.

Ok, so seriously a bit about VEX.

We are Calamitous Annihilation [VEX]! Our guild was originally formed on Piken Square with our core of 5 members. Over time our numbers have changed varying from 5 to 15. We are a tight knit group as we love to fight and have fun. We accept anyone who is willing to crash into our enemies and to take everything they know and love.

Guild Info:

Calamitous Annihilation is a WvW focused guild aiming for multiple daily raids. We are currently seeking to build a consistent core group of 15-20. Our main focus is hardcore group play using synergy and strategy. We will fight anything that stands in our way, or die trying!

Guild Raids:

Raids are Monday-Friday, 3 days are required for participation. It is expected that by joining you agree to also make 2-3 hours of raid per day you attend. We understand that people have real lives and things do come up, in which case we ask that you communicate that to us, exceptions can and will be made.

EotM as stated previously is/was intended to be an overflow map for WvW. It was designed as a place to go when the regular WvW maps, G,R,B borderlands and EB were queued. So yes it was not designed to be balanced or equal in any way shape or form. Most of the time it does favor green as those servers that are Green for their match are favored to be the winner of the match based on Glicko rating, therefore they tend to have a higher population. Anet recognized early on that this map was not being used as intended, instead becoming a leveling area/ktrain/champ train. In fact there are several guilds that run for only EotM. Working as intended? Nope, but the map is there now and often you see more activity from some servers there than you do on their actual borderlands and EB.

The overall game population decline makes this map completely unnecessary in regards to WvW, with only T1/T2 able to actually queue a map these days. In T4 we may see a queue for EB on reset and even that isn’t long enough to justify keeping EotM as an overflow.

Free transfers in and of themselves will not balance population and improve game play. What is to keep large guilds/groups of people from over populating the lower tier if free transfers are offered? Answer is, nothing. Anet would have to do several things to make free transfers work as many here have said they want them to.

Anet would have to:

1. Close transfers to T1/T2
2. Give guilds/people on T1/T2 servers a reason to transfer down (free transfer? not sure that is enough for that to happen.)
3. Micromanage the number of people going to specific servers to prevent over stacking based on current tier wvw population
4. Ties in with #3 – guilds of 50+ transferring would need to be verified to new server by Anet before they can transfer.

I’m sure there are other things to factor, but outside of certain stipulations free transfers will be much as they have been in the past; a specific group/groups of people all piling onto one server and pushing it up tiers and again creating an imbalance. What I think needs to happen is for Anet to find a way to get the base server populations interested in WvW again. The maps are stale, the match ups are stale, and scoring system is bad, outside T6 and T8 there isn’t one real competitive match for NA.

There of course are many reasons why the game population in general is low but much can be attributed to new game releases and the changes made to GW2 that made the game feel diluted and tiresome.

EotM while a good concept when we had a booming WvW population has never really worked as intended, which as presented was a layover place while you waited in queue for the normal WvW maps to open. It simply replaced the lowbie champ trains after the mega server was introduced and is primarily used for leveling alts from what I’ve seen. It has however had a huge impact on the WvW population, taking those that would normally follow a pugmander on EB to a map that contributes absolutely nothing to WvW. Personally, I’d like to see the map change to PVE and remove all WvW associations with it, or change it to the PPT map and make EB and the BLs the PPK maps.

Someone earlier also mentioned that the tourney needs to go away. I agree with this. There was such a dramatic shift in population prior to and after Season 1 that WvW never recovered. I saw many including myself leave the game, due to the high server imbalances and screwy match ups. I have since returned and now reside in T4 on NSP. I still however find myself in the same situation as before, wishing Anet would improve the WvW game mode. WvW is why I play this game, I don’t like PVE in GW2 and if I want to do it I will go elsewhere. People shouldn’t feel that they need to transfer every week to get a balanced or competitive WvW experience.

No. We believe that kicking in doors will bring us fights, and it does.

Does that mean that we would not consider it if we have the people online or that we wouldn’t plan one for a specific day?

The borderlands have been laggy all week, but got infinitely worse after the build tonight. Our raid started at 7pm est and ended at midnight est, we had so many dc’s, rubber banding and general lag all night. I had constant dc’s as did many of my guild mates. Is there a build planned to correct the lag issue? It is making WvW unplayable.

Suit and tie, buff the shoes. We run Mon-Friday 7pm est – 1am est. We use TS3 and are very active! Nightly raids include “looking for red sessions”, group training, taking as much as we can, and sometimes running with Map tag to reinforce their numbers. While we are a guild and look at our guild first and foremost, we also try to help our server as much as we can.

So don’t forget the lube, food and wrench! Time to get crazy up in this m’fkr.

Colors changed to be more consistent with the names of each side.

The Overgrowth champ boss takes on average 2-3 times longer to kill than most champs. Calling it impossible or taking infinitely long as a very big exaggeration but the champ remains very inconsistent with the difficulty of the other keep champs and probably should be made easier or have the other two champs be buffed. I’ve done it as fast as 25 seconds or so. The only problem is that splitting the elementals when you have a large zerg is more about luck than anything. I believe you can have your team spam out stuns on the champ to interrupt the ressurection skill.

The other lords need to be brought up to par with the green keep lord, it should be more difficult to kill keep lords. It is however very simple to kill him with a group that has half a brain; you separate the eles, when they are dead you cc the lord immediately to prevent him from rezzing the eles. I have seen groups do this in a matter of mins, and I have also seen it take 20 mins because people just don’t get it.

It really doesn’t take much coordinated communication to “2v1” a server. As a comm if I see OJs on Hills, I’m going to head for garri or bay. If I have a large enough group I may split it and send a smaller force to bay and take the larger to garri while the other 2 servers are busy fighting over hills. This happens quite often not sure why people are up in arms over it. Does it suck when you are the one on the receiving end? Yep, but as was mentioned a few posts up, Anet says is working as intended and they hoped that more servers would do this. The biggest issue I see with 2v1 is that it usually happens to the mid server and not the highest threat/populated.

There are a lot of people who would rather not waste their time bumbling through PvE. WvW was another option that Anet gave us for people that wanted an alternative to all out PvE. Now anyone below level 30 is shunted because they have no traits as opposed to before when you could have at least 2 major traits by 30.
Even more dirt in the face is that from 30 and up you only gain a “point” every 6 levels.

Try to open up your perspective. I understand that you aren’t “viable” till level 80, but for the many that can’t stomach PvE, including new players, this is really a setback.

Uplevels were always shunted in world. Why? Simply put.. RALLYBOTS EVERY WHERE. Personally I hate pve, but I’m not gonna put that extra burden on my group just cause I want to try a new toon. I can take myself to EoTM, doesn’t much matter there if I’m upleveled or not most days. I still get fights, tons of badges and karma for my new gear.

So you are downplaying the issue and how it affects you simply because of a different mechanic of the game, rally. Anyone can be a rallybot no matter what level they are.
I don’t like rallying in WvW either. I’d rather we all be sent straight to defeated state so people just WP instead. But it’s here to stay for the duration in WvW.

I don’t understand how it’s relevant in this thread about how the new trait system cripples up-levels compared to the old system, to the point of not even carrying them in till lv 60 (at least two traitlines).

Because you complained about people having more of a problem with uplevels in world. My point is that people have always had a problem with uplevels in world and the reason for it, they die all over the place. You were always crippled in the respect that you could not have 3 stat gear and won’t have it until you get to what level 55? It doesn’t matter how many traits you have, you are still a liability to the group as an uplevel in world. I don’t take uplevels to world for this very reason, even as a new player to the game I didn’t take an uplevel toon to world. A faster and easier way for you to level if you want to not do pve is to do EoTM.

I know a fortification can be easily taken in under five minutes but the crossed swords appearing shoudnt be necessary if players are in in attendance and shout on chat. The idea for a much longer (maybe not 5 minutes) timer before crossed swords appear is to make it harder for zergs to move off and leave a fortification completely empty without a small mob coming from behind and pushing through the gate before the big mob comes back. Keeping scouts and defenders will be all that more important and this means that big zergs may split up a little and also stop being so meaningful.

As for siege weapons big WvW guilds can drop them like wrappers from a bag of sweets. They need to be less easy to place and use at the best rank and quality of siege but more meaningful when time is taken to perfect them and use them.

As for the death penalty it should be time limited and effective in the way that a mob cant eventually win a fight just by keeping returning to it. Its not about punishing a loser its about a mob using skill and knowledge to make a good call whether a particular fight is worth it or to ask and wait for reinforcements or take their battle elsewhere.

During the 5 minute hospital penalty I would say you can still repair, sell and buy and maybe even travel to a fight but you cant actually fight until that timer is up but you can die again.

I am a leader of a small guild(run less than 10), the changes you propose to both siege and death penalty will pretty much render wvw useless to us. We like to take towers and keeps (or at least try), it already takes a long time for us to do so, why should we be further penalized to play the game as we enjoy.

Actually it really isn’t as much as issue this time around for transfers mid season, since you get locked out of world for the remainder of the current match and the subsequent match.

As for those that are looking for more “balanced” matches, you too have a transfer button and also have the option to use it. Since you claim that community doesn’t mean much to you, it shouldn’t be a problem yes?

Think the reward system has been changed for this season…“Your rewarding server will now be the server that you put the most time and effort into.” ~ Devon in an interview. Considering that the season is now 9 weeks long, the week lockout and subsequent match lockout is not as impactful as it could be.

Where is this claim that community doesn’t mean much? If it didn’t mean so much to me for example, do you think I would be here with this topic trying to propose changes that might resolve population imbalances so that low population servers and their communities won’t have to transfer into larger servers just to get to even play a decent WvW match-up?

Actually your opening post said it in a nutshell, was about guilds/friends, you didn’t change it until you started getting feedback from those that were opposed to the idea of not being able to play with server mates. From a reply you made on the first page I believe indicated that you are not on a low tier server, yet you want to force your imposed balance upon people who don’t want it. Between this tread and the other that is also being upped much by you, I believe there are a few from those low tier servers that you want to balance that have said as much. They like the low population and would probably no longer want to play the game if the server became more populated.

It very much reminds me of the scene from Rush Hour between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, where Tucker says, “Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?”?

The majority of people who have replied to this tread and the other that is going about say, no they do not want a merge, no they want to keep what they have as far as community, server, etc, etc., yet you continue to pound away at it. As I stated earlier I wish you luck in your lobbying. I feel any further response on my part will continue to deteriorate, as you don’t seem to hear what it is that people have been telling you all day.

I believe you have it backwards that it is the vocal minority that wants balance. Just look at the thread awhile ago after season one where people are asking for more fair match-ups. You can go about and say how your community works together so well, but numbers are the only true fact that matters. You outnumber your oppenent on the map, you will win beacause you can just take more stuff.

It seems to me that most, not all, the people that do not want more fair matchups are from those servers that are dominating.

Low tier servers will always have a greater discrepancy solely for the fact that their numbers are already low. There is no way to change that without either merging servers or creating an EOTM style WvW system which none of us want and isn’t going to happen anyways. Unless you can think of a way to incentivize an influx of people going to low tier servers this isn’t going to change. 0 gem cost to transfer to low tier servers isn’t going to break up the top servers because the WvW is good there. Once you do that however those that are on low tier servers specifically for the reason that there’s less people will complain. The higher you go in rankings the better and more fair the matches are. Currently things were thrown askew for season 2 with allowing server transfers when servers were already locked in their league. That’s the issue here but there’s nothing that can be done about that or evening out the population and going back to “normal” until the season is over.

More important is why post if you aren’t prepared for or willing to accept opposing views to what you propose?

Opposing views are not what are being asked for, the opposing view is to leave everything unbalanced as it is. I asked for scathing remarks and opinions/ideas/improvements.

Opinions imply a reasoning as to why things shouldn’t change. So far the reasoning it shouldn’t change is server pride – which seems a strong reason but really has shown to not be that strong -, and community…and communities can be rebuilt from scratch easily enough. They are not there just automatically.

No real purposeful reason to keep things imbalanced as they are, have been raised. A lot has been said about server pride and community….really is that it? Think as a game designer who wants to keep a playerbase for the next 5-6 years…server pride and community will do that? Really? More players leave games because they are heavily imbalanced in some way. What happens when your server pride results in there only being 3 servers to fight WvWvW against every week for a lonnnnnng time. It’s already happened…T1 guilds and servers burnt out…players left the game…server pride and community didn’t keep them there.

Further, the topic of the post is there for everyone to read…it is a question that implies an intelligent, thought out response, not silly assumptions about how I play or what kind of server I play on.

Apparently server pride and community loyalty is important enough that Anet has decided not to change it:

“Though we are moving to our new megaserver model in PvE, it’s extremely important to us that we maintain the level of identity and competition in WvW that we’ve established since the release of Guild Wars 2. The entire game mode is based on battles between different players aligned to the named worlds, and as such we have no plans to remove this concept from WvW.”

I play for fights and to play with the people I choose to play with as do many others. Not all of those people are in my guild, nor are they all on my friends list, but they are on my server; according to your proposed changes I would not be able to do that. It also removes any identifying factors for servers and guilds and mainly focuses on the individual. Many people like to feel that they are a part of something and like to be recognized for the things that they do. What you propose seems very short sighted on how people work and what they want in regards to community and seems to focus more on fast rewards and pretty ribbons for everyone. WvWvW is not fair and most who do it on a daily basis know and understand that. I believe that reps from Anet have even stated that WvWvW is not intended to be “fair”.

I wish you well on your lobbying for fairness, but I for one hope I never see it happen.

So we have so many discussions on bandwagon servers, numbers, and people talking about how to make things more fair.

The truth is bandwagons can be defeated. Strats can be utilized to overwhelm and defeat your opponents.

I see a lot of fair this fair that. The truth is I think those people are just saying I want to win. It’s like when people complain about how stealth is overpowered and how it needs to be nerfed. Again all I hear is “I want to roll over my enemy without working for it”

Yaksbend proved in season 1 that utilizing unconventional tactics a bandwagon server can be defeated.

As shown with the crushing defeat of SBI in season 1 allowing the yaks to take 2nd. People will call it messed up what we did. But the truth is we utilized propaganda , alliances, and sure out force of will to claim second.

So those who want to sit in these forums and complain how wvw is not fair. Stop with the sob story. Man or Women up! Get out there and give them hell!

Side comment 1:
SBI is an amazing group of people who fought to the bitter end. It could have gone either way and those matches were amazing.

Anyone else notice that the Women of WvW are way more Bloodthirsty than the man on average.

Yep I totally agree, you don’t really need an alliance to do this, mostly people understanding that focusing on the highest/strongest target is more beneficial, e.g. don’t fight for 2nd, fight for 1st. This doesn’t only apply to bandwagons, but match ups on a whole, and makes them much more challenging imo.

I have learned something else from this post and other similar ones. When you post a topic like this, so many of the ‘debunkers’ just assume that the OPs have never played WvWvW before, that they are new to the game, that they are on a low population server where everything must suck community-wise, that they are ‘casual’ players because they don’t live in WvWvW.

Newsflash! Your assumptions are just that.

However, I post this watching the server slowly taking the first steps – I hope not – towards becoming, what so many assume the server I am on, to be already.

EoTM and EBG are imo probably bad examples to use. EoTM was I believe created as a hold over for those waiting in queue, yes? Which I believe is the reason that nothing you take there contributes to the overall server scores, and the only thing the winning team receives is supplies for their home bl. EGB for me is where I go when my guild is not running, and I want larger group fights with friends from other guilds. Do I agree that world needs a change? Yes, but not merging servers. The way servers are matched/ranked needs the overhaul not the communities. The swiss style matching I think might be a possibility as it can more quickly adjust for server population changes than the current Glicko system, but would still need some changes to make it viable.

Is it really just the scoring system? If it was just that that could adjust for the imbalances in WvWvW population now, surely, surely ANet would have done something about it already? That they tried to change things up a little by introducing EotM instead….what does that mean?

Yes it is the scoring, most people who have built their community and stay with that community do it because it is theirs. What you suggest takes away from what people want. People play on low tier servers because they like the play, same for silver and gold. There have been numerous posts about it. EoTM was not a map introduced to “change” world, it was put into place to mollify those that were sitting in queue for world maps. While you may think it is an easy thing to just up and change the scoring system, it really is not such an easy thing to do otherwise I’m sure it would have been done already and I believe why we are seeing the different set ups for season competition.

EOTM feels like pointless and useless endeavor to me. I mean its fine to run around killing people, but i prefer to run around killing people for a purpose. Have actual objectives you know, and a reason to take them aside from karma training

You may have missed the actual objective of EotM then…and it has its own objectives too, and when you win, you get a oooooh, ahhhh supply drop in your Borderlands keep…I mean that’s really sad as a prize…really. And I do not see how karma training in EotM is any different from karma training in WvWvW or EBG…

That’s the point you’re missing, the ones who don’t karma train are the ones who are so strongly against the EotM style format. They’re the ones who have developed a community, who spend all day working together with players and other guilds. If you take that familiarity away, take away the ability to play with the same people that may not be in the same guild, then you lose what WvW really is. I have been on 2 servers, both with the same people. My first server was very shut in and lacking community, whereas my current server has a very open and friendly community. Even though my guild is the same people, the experience is night and day and I would never trade what I currently have for anything that remotely resembles EotM.

Ok, I guess I don’t understand karma training then….to me all of it is karma training whether you take objectives or defend them. I suppose I am more interested in an even battle pvp rather than zerg-roflstomp-pvd your opposition and feel ‘proud’ about your awesomeness.

Further down I mention about expanding guild groups to Squads, are ppl so scared of change and perhaps improving the game as a whole? Not saying that this would do that but it could be a step in the right direction. If you are of the opinion that WvWvW is fine as it is, go read some of the 100s of posts suggesting that it isn’t.

I am not saying this is how it must be, it’s an idea. An idea that can use expansion on and various improvements, not simply be shut down and brushed aside and rudely insulted. Is that what the GW2 community is like now?

Yes, we do need it. I don’t want to be just another number and another guild in a faceless community on some megaserver. This may be fine for pve, but for world it is the worst idea and would be something that would make me consider a new game. My server has a good core world community, are we all in the same guild? No. What you propose says that I will no longer be able to play with the people I choose to play with unless we are in the same guild, same group. I for one don’t want it, if you want EoTM play, then by all means go to EoTM where you can be just another “face in the crowd”. Not so much about server pride, but community loyalty.

Glicko ratings currently mean nothing, since a LOT of people have moved around just before the Season started, and Glicko hasn’t had time to adjust. HoD sounds like it has more coverage than FA at the moment. That said, they’ll probably still lose because it sounds like they’re squishy/uncoordinated (at least according to CD/NSP).

You are right the rating have not had time to readjust since some guild transfered 2 weeks ago. Still last time Ioj fought HoD they got stomped and FA is doing that to Ioj right now. Number can only take you so far until you encounter something unexpected like a guild wiping a pug zerg. HoD has not fought a t2 quality server in months and the last time the score was 470k to 50k. The score will not be that lopsided but the only time the match-up will be close is during reset.

Not to mention that FA friendlies are used to fighting T2, they are very experienced in fighting, generally run the right builds etc. Short of all of those people having left the server I don’t see HoD pulling it out. No offense to HoD, but they have had a huge influx of people that may or may not have integrated well into the community, and unless those guilds that moved there from the upper tiers have been working kitten training what they came in to, I don’t see it ending well with FA.

The fight that I would like to see… That wa are not going to get because the Swiss system sucks; is HoD-IoJ-SBI.
HoD has the numbers but those two servers have the experience.
People are talking big about next week’s match but HoD is going to experience it’s worst whupping since Nov 2012’s match with IoJ and SoS (they averaged about +10ppt).

Which will be good because they’ll learn where they will need to improve and maybe pull a surprise by the end of the season.

I’m also wanting to see how HoD will fair, they got a ton of transfers so will have to wait and see what they pull out in the way of guilds and how their friendlies will hold up to the pressure. The people who transferred from the higher tiers will know what to expect, the ones that have never seen it will have an eye opening experience. Besides I’m sure FA is chomping at the bit to get in a new match up.

As we all know matches are decided more by who gets pushed the hardest and population. While FA is the favored in the match up, will the servers that face them decide to hit them the hardest? As we have seen with the first week, it still seems that IoJ and SBI are fighting for second rather than hitting the highest target and focusing on FA. We saw this happen last season to the favored winner and it worked well. Aside from that I think it is way too early to tell how things are going to fall out as far as placement with all of the free transfers and achievement hunters; which will surely skew the match population for the first few weeks.

I have 0 problem on my mes in group fights, while you don’t have the huge blow them up skills that other classes have, you do have utilities that will enable you to get more than enough tags to make you happy. Are they the weapons or build you want to use? nah probably not, but it can be done. null field + feedback + time warp + gs/staff = lots of tags, lots of bags and support for the group.. just sayin’

So many bullkittenters in this thread, the OP is talking about the Glicko system and how long it takes to adjust to changes in server population. You guys need to take your DB hate somewhere else.

According to your win:loss since the beginning of the year, you guys are exactly where you should be in relation to the servers below you. SoR is probably one of the few exceptions in the fact that it had a very high rating and should be much lower than it is, but is taking forever for them to drop to where they should be. However, it is the price you pay for having a heavily stacked off hours where you can ktrain to your hearts content and tick for 400-500+ for extended periods every day. Looking at just this week, there were very few times you ticked below 300(http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/35/), does that mean DB should go gold not necessarily, but in relation to what is below you it does. The other servers can not compete with your population, in fact you guys pushed/stacked so hard it seems you pushed FA out of gold to be a strong contender for winning silver again this season. The only way to not hit gold would be to lose the 2 spots you gained this week in the last match before the set spots next week. And quite frankly don’t see FA working overtime to get back into gold when they can try to secure a silver win. Either way silver gets the shaft with one server that is going to dominate. Bronze more than likely will be the same.

13-15 NA/15-18 EU will be the bottom of silver, these servers will have to face the severs that already have t1.5/t2 populations (free transfers are to try to bolster the pop to face the higher ranked servers and balance it), and is the same reason 20-24NA/23-27EU are also free to transfer to. To understand it, you only need to look at where they are placed in the structure of gold, silver, and bronze. The reason to make it cost so much to transfer to 1-12 is to prevent server stacking of the higher tiers/projected winners like we saw in S1. The cost for top of bronze is the same reason, however the cost is so low that it won’t really make much of a difference imo.

Clearly there is a large portion of your server that feels it can or wants to do gold, otherwise they’d not still be pushing as hard as they have been. The best you can hope is those that came to you for an easy silver win don’t abandon ship over the weekend and next week.

Guild merits for an automated Scout alert/info sub screen for claimed Keeps for a limited time.

If that be the case there should be a way to get merits in wvw.

Maybe guild members get a function to donate Badges of Honor, a bit of karma and spending WvW Skill points (for those that have everything they want or literally all of the WvW skills) for converting to a Guild Merit(s).

They should have a stupidly long build time or some requirement that does not make it easy for every guild to do it, but promotes wvw players to have an equal chance to gaining these functions.

It also should be an option for some ranks of a guild to see these notices.

EDIT : Anet says that wvw is a social element, and if something is not bringing players together, then it is effectively going against that. If players are not actually playing, then it is also going against their goal. Scouting, you’re not fighting, thus you’re not playing.

Not only do you fight when you scout, you also have to communicate with the comm and other people on the map. Just because it is small scale does not make invalid or anti social. Scouts are one of the most important jobs in world, along with the people who work on escorting dolys and upgrading camps and towers. Just because they don’t follow the blue dorito does not mean that they don’t fight. You may not see saving a doly from a roamer fighting, but it is and is as important as capping that tower your zerg just opened. They fight to hold camps or retake after an enemy take. Adding an NPC action to do this is redundant and completely unnecessary. What I’d like to see is more rewards for people who do all these things for the thankless people who think world is all about running in the zerg.

The groups of YB that did actually fight were too few numbers. Gave up on fighting big zergs again 5 AC choke point.

Good close week, maybe next time we meet people will be back from holidays and come out and play.

If it is fights you want, try breaking up that 50+ deep blob and I’m sure you’ll get some without people tower hugging or using siege. Only place we generally run that is in EBG, and maybe the 2 or 3 guilds that can field those numbers. Most of our other guilds run small numbers compared to that 10-25.

Yep I have to agree, I think most of us here thought it would be. I know many people have been working hard especially on our own bl defense and in general learning to communicate better with each other. Thanks for all the good fights this week

I’m not complaining about off peak capping at all. We can’t all have 100% timezone coverage. Just SBI’s complete lack of fights when you sit on easy points and pretend you are good enough to keep up.

I actually think this is pretty funny. YB bl will give you fights, but you guys leave it alone; yet you only complain about SBI. You could however do to them what you’ve been doing in SBI most of the week and use 3 Super Trebs or heavy golem rush them to take paper towers; guess you’d build 6 and 10 for a fortified one, since they also like their siege.

Oh and btw YB has also been Ktraining your bl during your “off hours”. Just sayin.

Our militia is showing up and yours isn’t, it’s that simple. outside of that your servers seems only interested in eb when yb camps your home so numbers is sbi problem not sos.

Militia is back in EB, prob cause it seems the only place we have a tag, at least during NA 5-10pm server. All other maps from my experience are quiet so it’s either go EB, get rolled by opposing zergs, or go back to PvE.

Looks like a lot of chosen to go back to PvE as we don’t even have Q’s on EB.

SBI seems to have a huge fairweather problem. Most servers have one to one degree or another, but this is epidemic.
To be fair we came out of the gate (restless from 12 straight weeks of T1 + TC) gunning for SBI expecting you guys to be the bigger threat.
That being said, SoS hasn’t karma trained anyone in NA in over a year. This is partly YB’s fault for hiding in their towers; but this is kinda skilly.

Just don’t fall beneath DB, I can’t stand their SEA coverage.

Would guilds GvG if we tossed practice in before the GvG part? Even if you’re not experienced, the only way to learn is to try and find a group comp that works for you. The most intense/amazing moments I’ve ever had in game were in GvGs. Doesn’t hurt to try.

FUN thanks for the fights on SBI last night. Glad to see you guys coming at us even though you guys were probably only running around 18

I really wouldn’t take it personally. I can’t remember seeing very many of the guilds on SBI GvG. TE, DR, and DDLG are the only ones that come to mind. Not sure if other guilds don’t enjoy doing it or if it just isn’t a focus for them.

indeed, what I see are a mesmer, presents, a dead guy from POV and some dead ranger pets, oh and a bunch of YB building siege at the top of the citadel stairs. what did I miss?

So that’s not your treb in citadel is what you’re saying? Coz I’d seriously have to wonder why they’d set up a treb and not an AC or ballista.

you’d set up a treb to take out in the vendor area if that is where the stuff we have in there is placed.. dunno wasn’t there and neither I’m guessing were you, but does make me wonder why you’d defend them doing it…

Because I’ve seen SBI set up trebs in their Citadel repeatedly and defend that when it’s a known exploit and that’s the only way to counter it.
