The community was actually pretty quiet, We were all willing to sit back and wait for updates because lets be honest, These last few LS have been pretty awsome….aaaand then they dropped SAB. Something they already made, and that just blew our minds. A lot of players aren’t just raging to get what they want, they’re raging because things that they like in the game get removed and then…ya know what? Posting on this forum probably doesn’t even matter I’m going to go play (Insert some older retro game with jumping).

I didn’t hear anyone in the interview say the SAB is getting removed or anything. Just that it won’t return this time around. Which means it might come back next time/some time in the future.

‘’But they don’t have to make World 3, they can just release the SAB as it is now.‘’
Well, maybe the guys understood the question as that the players want SAB to return but with new features. Maybe they just didn’t think that the players would be completely ok with ’’old’’ SAB especially since a lot of complaints about the Festival of the Four Winds and the Crown Pavilion and how it’s just a recycled old content. Maybe now that a lot of players said that they just want the ’’old’’ SAB back with no new World or additions, maybe they’re rethinking it. shrugs

Enough with the vines

While some new kinds of vines would be fun, I find it funny that it’s just the opposite for me. I’ve always found the Risen in Orr incredibly annoying. I just can’t stand this whole zombie thing being everywhere in every game, and the Risen also have something to them that makes them even more annoying for me. :P

I’ve never had the chance of trying out the SAB because I made the account after April 2014 Feature Pack, but I think it’d be a shame not to bring it back. Not necessarily now, if they have other things they want to focus on, but at least sometime in the future.

Btw, there are so many things included in the speculations: the Mursaat, the Bloodstones, the Heir of Kryta, mystery behind E, Glint and her offspring, the Ascalon Curse, the Crystal Desert… I’m afraid we won’t get to experience any of these things or maybe just one and the rest will be again ’’forgotten’’ until the next LS or maybe even never. :/

Pale tree vision analysis

in Living World

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

My interpretation of the yellow land is that, at first, it’s above the clouds, and lands rose up to it. Possibly a reference to Orr? It could be the crystal desert, though. There are 4 pillars of light, with one having what looks like a seed in it. I’m going to guess, and this is a big leap, that the pillars refer to Pale Tree seeds, and the fourth beam is a seed that we need to retrieve. So there might be 2 other trees out there, one naturally being Malyck’s.

There are actually five beams of light. It takes a while for the fifth beam to appear, but it appears a few seconds after the one in the middle.

http://prntscr.com/4eai0q

Also, I’ve just recently noticed it, but in the centre pillar/beam of light (which is the penultimate one), after it shoots up into the sky, a small bright glowing crystal/seed/something appears and travels down into the egg-shaped thingy.

http://prntscr.com/4eaj4p -> http://prntscr.com/4eaj9z -> http://prntscr.com/4eaji8

And from another forum, I’ve also noticed the mentioning of similarities between these two (Mursaat structures):

http://prntscr.com/4eajrp <=> http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y270/SaNesuke-SaiNt-Sagara/gw475.jpg

EDIT: And now that I think about it, it could also be possible that this cave blocked with vines in the western part of the Dry Top could be what we see in the last part of the vision, but I don’t know. :/

http://prntscr.com/4ealfx <=> http://prntscr.com/4ealoc

Though the trees don’t look much like jungle trees, but then again, Maguuma doesn’t necessarily have a jungle anymore. The climate might’ve changed in these 250 years so that now temperate forest can be found.

New character access to LS2

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

If you already have a character and unlocked all the episodes with it, you’ll be able to play the episodes on all your current and future characters.

However, if you’ve created your first character during this latest episode, then that means you’ve only unlocked this latest episode on your account and will be able to play it across all you current and future characters (once they reach level 80, that is). You’ll have to purchase the previous episodes and by that unlock them via the Gem Store.

EDIT: For example – I currently have 4 characters (the last one I’ve created recently). When I unlocked the Episode 1 I played it with my main character (lvl 80) and then with my second character (also lvl 80). When my guardian got to lvl 80 recently, I can now also play the episode with him. When my newest character reaches lvl 80, I’ll be able to play the episode with that character as well.

On Mounts & Housing.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

The only way I see mounts being implemented is that a Charr opens up a small ranch with moas and charges players if they want to ride moas. Like rent-a-moa or something. And a Norn opens up a similar ranch with rent-a-dolyak. xD

(Also it’d be nice if there was a race, similar to the Dolyak race we had, but the players would be riding moas and racing to the finish line.)

Overall, though, I see no reason for mounts so far.

During one of my random browsings I came across an old thread from LS S1 with a screenshot of Scarlet’s lair where there were her drawings on the desk. One of them represented a red eye with black glow (all of her drawings seem to be black & red). I did some googling and found that some Mursaat structures have some kind of red eye gem.

http://prntscr.com/4dzmpj

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y270/SaNesuke-SaiNt-Sagara/mursaattowers.jpg

I was thinking the Mursaat could be what Scarlet saw or what told her to do all the things she did. Don’t know, probably not one of the most plausible theories, but it’s just something that came across my mind and I thought I’d share it. Also, if I recall correctly, didn’t Trahearne say that there’s some greater intelligence behind all this? It might’ve referred to the attack on the world summit, but maybe it could also refer to the whole dragon awakening and all this. I’m sure the lore masters will discredit all this. xD

As for the vision, the towers look similar to the Mursaat towers. There are so many theories about the Mursaat, the blood stones and Mordremoth that it almost seems likely the next few episodes are going in that direction, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It’d be really nice if it turned out to be a mix of old and new lore, not just mainly new lore with a few hints of old.

Area blocked by vines in the west of map?

I was inside the cave (along with my friend) when the area was still under development (before the release of either of the Dragon’s Reach episodes) and it looked like the vines were blocking the entrance to some kind of path or something to a new area. Who knows.

I tried going back this time, but there were a lot of mobs there and no one seems to bother killing them. :/

Have they always been there? If they have, then my bad and you can disregard this post.

Did Exploration Get the Shaft?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

Come on, you can do better than that!

Then you write something constructive at 4 am when your eyes are half closed. xD

As I’ve said, there’s still plenty of secret areas and easter eggs and so on. However, I do think that a lot of the maps could use an overhaul, something that would bring players who barely touch them anymore back and prompt them to revisit them and ’’explore’’ some more. The DR Pt.1 was a small step towards that, but not nearly enough.

I can’t compare GW2 to WoW because I’ve never played it, I can only compare it to two other MMOs I played – TERA and Dragon Nest, the latter not even having an open world and being focused on mobs/dungeons rather than exploration. I must say that despite TERAs astounding graphics, I enjoyed traversing GW2 world more. Simply because TERA, despite beautiful scenery and all, felt kind of empty. Sure, there’s an open worl, pretty much no loading screens, but most of the times when travelling around on a mount there wasn’t anything around. No mobs, no players, just plain grass and rocks. Or just spooky trees and the night sky. Or plain desert with a few bushes every here and there.

That’s why I like GW2’s maps more, because I feel more immersed here. There are always some events going on, you always run across other players, there are always some mobs walking around nearby … But, we could use less WPs, the vistas and PoIs could be invisible until you walked up to them, something like hearts. We could also have some more areas like Aurora’s Glade, Coddler’s Cove and Anya’s Secret Garden (I really like this last one) along with some of the JPs.

I got the achievement today, also after around 20 or so tries. -.- The only difference is that this time there was a commander. I guess the whole group going around doing events to raise the favour was following the commander.

Besides this time I’ve only seen the event finish with 0/10 once (missed by a few seconds) and I think there was also a commander amongst the players.

They should do something about scaling. Maybe that it scales according to the number of players actually attacking the mobs, I don’t know. :/

Make minis more desirable

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Arctinus.7824

I wish we could equip them somehow to our character and wouldn’t lose them every time we entered a new map. :/ …

I would rather have my necro’s minions live through map changes or even entering and leaving water. At least his minions are useful and not just fluff.

I don’t like minis since they serve no purpose and just clutter up the screen. And judging by how often I see them most other players don’t like them or use them either. I can go days without seeing one, even when my characters are in town.

Oh yeah, that too. I’ve recently created my fourth character – a necro. This doesn’t bother me that much yet, though. Mostly because I haven’t been spending much time with him so far. But I guess I’ll feel the same when I focus on him more.

Maybe the reason why most people don’t equip minis is simply because they don’t bother anymore. I, for example, don’t bother equipping my mini after entering a new map a few times. It just annoys me, so I just walk around without a mini accompanying me instead. :P

This also shows how many ’’little’’ problems there are in GW2 that could easily be improved if ANet simply desired so. :/

final boss fight too much

in Living World

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

My friend and I always do instances together. We also did the World Summit.

Both our main characters are staff elementalists. We did all the DR Pt. 2 achievements.
He has full berserker’s armor (don’t know what stats he has on his accessories or backpack) and I have 3 pieces of Berserkers and 3 pieces of Assassin’s armour. So technically we’re also very squishy. :P Also our weapons are berserker’s. And we did the Challenge Mode without dying even once. We got downed a couple of times, but that’s it. The only trouble I had was the Can’t Knock Me Down achievements where I just couldn’t always dodge (let alone jump) at the right time due to my having 9-11 FPS at most during the fight (even dodging Subject Alpha’s countless circles was easier to me). But, there’s a way around it by using blocking skills (I used Obsidian Flesh, Mist Form and Arcane Shield for that sole achievement, which means switching to Scepter/Dagger :P).

Also, what I’m saying isn’t that it’s so easy everyone should solo it with berserker’s gear. far from that, especially since skills differ from player to player, but not only that, the issue might also be computer lag, body reaction time and so on. What I’m saying is, that it should at least be more or less easily doable with two people. So you don’t have to search for a whole group even if you think you’re not skillful enough (like me).

So if anyone wants to give up because they just can’t manage to defeat the Dragon, don’t. Just try asking a friend to help you first, or try searching for one player first who would be willing enough to assist you. Don’t just give up. ^^

Why not give something everyone would like

If you had something in mind, we’re all ears.

Right. It’s impossible to make something EVERYONE would like. I guess I didn’t word that right. I meant something along the lines of that it would appeal to a larger crowd. More or less the way of acquiring it, since it’s hard to please everyone (especially in GW2, I read complaints on almost every new armour/weapon/backpack that’s released).

Not a native speaker, as you might’ve already guessed (or not). :d

And EDIT: I’m not complaining about FotM, I’ll do them if I must. I am even planning on doing them sometime in the future for around 3/4 of FotM achievements I’m still missing. I just feel bad/sorry or something for people who really dread venturing into FotM. I guess I’m just kind of a goody two-shoes by nature. xD

Didn’t bother reading ALL of the posts, but seeing as a lot of people don’t like FotM and maybe some other things that are required to acquire the backpiece, why then give the main ingredients as ’’rewards’’ to players who then decide not to get into the process of crafting the backpiece and find the items just useless junk?

Why not give something everyone would like, or something that would have multiple ways to acquire so that everyone would be able to get it, since it’s supposed to be some kind of a ’’reward’’ for the LS? Or maybe why not putting these seeds, ley line stones and such to be sold by a vendor in exchange for geodes for example? That way people who actually decide to craft the backpiece just buy them.

Just wondering. No need for any spiteful replies.

Not Enough New Zones

in Living World

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

No, no, I wasn’t specifically referring to Dry Top, I was trying to point out that people on these forums complain that there isn’t an X thing, when they get the X thing, they complain they want the Y thing or that it should be like this. The thing is that it’s hard to satisfy this wide spectrum of players. Similar to the new ’’boss’’ at the end of Dragon’s Reach Part 2 – some players say it’s too easy and it should be harder, some think it’s too hard (some are hardcore players, some casual, some are somewhere in between).

As for Dry Top and new zones in general, I believe (or maybe hope?) they’ll add new zones in future episodes. We’ll just have to wait and see. And yes, it’s mostly grinding for geodes, fossils, kites, recipes etc., but if I recall correctly, I saw a few threads about players not knowing what else to do, since they’ve got everything they wanted in the game. ANet created new recipes, backpack, kites, weapons and so on to aim for. I understand, though, that that might not be enough for all players and it might also not appeal to some. Tastes differ. I completely understand.

The problem, to me at least, seems to be that there isn’t a specific forum section dedicated only to Suggestions (on how to improve the game) where ANet would have a couple of devs who would check the threads regularly and maybe even comment on them as in if those suggestions are possible and how they could be implemented, and if not why they couldn’t be.
(At least I didn’t find such a thread. I’ve only seen some separate threads in miscellaneous forums.)

I apologise for my English, I’m not a native speaker, so my thoughts might have not come out as I intended. :P

Well, we’ll just have to wait for the next couple of episodes for possible new zones. The way the story goes we can’t just expect our characters to magically end up in Magus Falls all of a sudden or anywhere else for that matter. We’ll slowly progressing and discovering the new lands.

Besides, new zones don’t necessarily mean enough content. For example, people were complaining there aren’t any new zones, then they got a new zone (which will most likely be completely revealed tomorrow) and they don’t like it.

Maybe we will when we set out to fight other Elder Dragons – Jormag (Far Shiverpeaks), Kralkatorrik (Crystal Desert), Bubbles (Unending Ocean) and so on. Actually, the way I see it is that we’d only get access to Cantha, for example, is by defeating Bubbles and therefore clearing the sea way to Cantha. But that’s just me.

Also I’d rather see Isles of Janthir, Blood Legion Homelands and Giant’s Causeway before Cantha and Elona. :P In other words I agree with Rin.

I recently started playing GW1 and am amazed that it has so many more emotes than GW2. And not only that, it also has so many different dance moves – each profession AND gender has a different one (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeH0ucIcb2Y). Would it be really that difficult to implement a bit more diversity when it comes to emotes/dance moves?

More skills would also be nice as well as perhaps a new class. As for Elona/Cantha, I don’t know. I’d personally like to explore the existing map first (Far Shiverpeaks, Blood Legion Homelands, Isles of Janthir, Scavenger’s Causeway etc.)

It seems, though, that it’s unlikely any of these things will be implemented anytime soon if ever. :/

(For those who don’t know each profession was announced by adding them in to a picture of them all standing together. The Mesmer was one of the first to be predicted and the last to be announced so they decided to troll people a little bit. They added a picture of a Minstrel, looking exactly like Marcello DiGiacomo, and claimed that was their new profession. When you clicked on it the image shattered to show the real Mesmer image underneath.)

Underwater combat: remove alternative weapons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Arctinus.7824

Arctinus.7824

I understand how frustrating underwater combat can be for some players, especially since most of the time the combat is on land. That’s why most people can’t even get used to their trident/spear/harpoon gun skills. Especially if you have many alts you occasionally play with. Not to mention you usually have to change your utility/elite skills. My guardian, for example, has only one underwater elite skill.

So maybe they should start working on improving underwater skills in such a way, that they would make most land skill available underwater. Make a map with mostly underwater combat where players can get used to their underwater weapons and skills. I don’t see a problem with switching weapons when underwater the same way as when you switch between your weapon sets or when you adjust your skills according to the situation.

I still can’t see swords, maces, torches, shields and so on, to be used instead of current underwater weapons. :P

Well, the thing is that we bought the game and he had a faster internet connection, so he already downloaded the client and everything. Nevertheless, I must say I enjoy the game so far.

And how would you fight Bubbles, the water Elder Dragon if not underwater? Do you expect it to get washed on the shore by a huge tsunami?

There are also some videos and pictures with descriptions of the LS S1 in the Atlas:

EDIT:
There are also some videos here:

And here’s one of the short stories, What Scarlet Saw:

There’s plenty of material out there that recaps the LS S1.

The same thing happened to me and my friend when we were doing that step with our alts. We couldn’t get the other achievements without completing the story mode first, though.

Well, I deleted mine because you’re right, it’s best to not spoil before the next release.

Well, sorry to hear that. I guess you were just a bit unlucky. :/ Just go from one corner to the other, up, down… I’m sure you’ll run into an event eventually. Oh, and some of them are only active during the sandstorm and vice versa.

Barely any events? When my friend and I were exploring there were constantly events going on all over the place. The whole area is huge. There’s Chickenado event, cleansing the oasis event, Asura laser event with the boss event on top, clear the vine passage event, the ley line hub event in the cave, light golem event… and those are just the ones we passed by during the story mission. What more could you want?
