Same issue.. map’s kittened
Yep, same issue here
That’s exactly the issue Bigpapasmurf. You waste valuable utility and put yourself in danger for little to no benefit.
Why not give use a special buff when we harm ourself?
Why not give us some health/life force when we harm ourself?
Why not give us a boon when we harm ourself?
Why not heal in an area around us when we harm ourself? Why do we have to waste an utility for using something that should give us an edge in a battle? I understand that sending back a few more condi seem interesting but wasting a precious skill that is supposed to prevent us from dying because we’ve been hurting ourself is really wasting ressources.
There is plenty of options that could actually make the act of hurting ourself valuable but honnestly having to send back the condition is not what I call valuable. It’s just an unnecessary stress. Look, we litterally bleed ourselve to produce 10 might stack that we can barely maintain if we invest in might duration where other profession can just fart might without risk and reach 20 to 25 might stack with ease. We hurt ourselve for less efficacity and to bring that full power of the skill we even have to spend a 2nd skill that could otherwise save our butt if need arise. Excuse me to say it but the necromancer is on the losing end.
Exaclty; we have to use a possible cleanse (dagger4) to offload the condi’s leaving us with hardly any other alternative to cleanse (Consume Conditions)… Other option is to pop shroud.. Often at a point where you don’t want to pop shroud due to low life force but otherwise you’re dead..
And indeed, BIP gives the 10 might but does bleed us and other classes can get might stacks more easily without downside to it… Hell, all other classes can self boon WAY better than Necro can.. But hey, at least we can damage ourselves to do damage to others while they do damage to us which we can’t block or go invul..
Let’s say you are fighting Gorseval and you do the rotation… You use dagger 4 after corrupting to offload the additional condi’s.. Oh wait, Gorseval just hit me with 25 stacks of Vulnerability & torment.. Better use Consume Condition..
Ok, got that cleansed… kitten, still blinded and vulnerable from using Consume Condition due to trait.. Owh and still taking damage.. Better pop shroud .. kitten, low on life force => Necro dead
Meanwhile Guardian: LOL, look at all my boons!
…Yes, but we are the only class capable of spamming enough condi on ourselve to actually die from it…
Also the only class capable of significant transfer of their own conditions to other players. Which is the whole point.
Yes, but other classes have enough cleanses at their disposal as well in addition to invuls, blocks, leaps or teleports.. And we have none of that.. We only have shroud
The only somewhat decent gap closer is shroud2 and that skills has some targetting issues…
Meaning that other classes can very easily get out of our range to reset a fight and we are left standing there, dying from our own skills since we couldn’t offload our condi’s…
Blood is Power is a funny kind of skill. They have the flavour right but the execution all wrong (arguably like most of the good ideas in GW2.) It will set people off but it does need a buff.
Yes 10 stacks of might is fantastic, but it’s not really enough; add Stability and Retaliation (scaled from Condition Damage when taking Master of Corruption trait) and make the boons last as long as the bleed and you may have a useful skill.
I kinda like this idea where we convert our self inflicted condi’s to boons… Much like we can corrupt boons to condi’s on enemies…
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Condition ==> shows a table of which condi can be converted to a boon… This could be done on the offload: we offload the condi and receive the boon in it’s stead…
Maximizing condi dps without team support in PvE makes you very glassy because there are simply not enough transfers available.
Learn to time condition bursts with condi transfer or corruption cool downs. Mashing buttons as soon as they come off cool down is suicide.
When playing solo PvE, do not try to max condition dps. That is a trap. Go, instead, for maximizing transfers and other clears. Take the hit to dps or switch to power. Without team support or slowing and timing condition skills, you may easily kill yourself. Minions are an example of scaling back dps to better manage the condi burden.
Not really? Necro dps rotations are designed to trasnfer condi’s immediately after receiving them. If you look at any condi necro rotation, dagger 4 is always used AFTER corruption skills, and it even says not to use said skills if it isnt up, because its a dps loss anyway.,
Do you even play necro?
And when dagger 4 is on cooldown, you’re rotation can’t be used properly since you need to offload the condi’s because they do inflict a lot of damage on yourself. My point is that Necro should be “immune” to some degree when it comes to (self inflicted) condi’s. When you miss your offload, you’re basically kittened…
And this doesn’t feel right.. Necro’s should have to endure full blown condi damage when they inflict it on themselves..
I did say ‘across builds’ meaning not just condi, but you should not blindly stick to the same utils and 2nd weaps. I typically use sceptre/dagger and gs, with blood is power, suffer, epidemic and plaguelands with staff as an option depending on situation. That’s 4-7 condi transfers on a 20-sec cd or shorter. Don’t forget that u take 50% less condi damage in shroud too.
The other thing to bear in mind is that several of the corruption utils self-inflict the same condition, so if you time ur transfers you won’t be re-applying a condi you just got rid of.
Wouldn’t say ‘no’ to that 1sec resistance (which revs got on mallyx skills, but w/e ^^).
All other classes have access to invul, blocks, leaps & teleports on top of cleanses to aid in escaping a fight to reset or whatever… We don’t… Anet’s claims we don’t need it since we have shroud .. But we are the only class which inflicts so much damage on itself, on top of the same damage we are receiving as any other class.. Why don’t we have a built in resistance for condi? Aren’t we the masters of pain and suffering? A little self inflicted bleed shouldn’t bother us..
So I do firmly believe we should receive some inherent resistance against condi’s since we are supposed to be the masters of it..
I’m confused, what game mode are you referring to?
Can be applies to all game modes, but my perspective is from PVE POV.
Every class has its’ compromise between damage and condition clearing traits/skills, you can’t have your cake and eat it too, if you want to clear conditions, you have to compromise. Plague Sending and Chilling Darkness are a perfect example, seems you want maximum damage without needing to trait for or take skills to remove conditions, yet complain there is not enough condition removal… Sorry, it doesn’t work like that.
Yes, but we are the only class capable of spamming enough condi on ourselve to actually die from it…
That’s kind-of the point of using master of corruption- you’re harming yourself a little to do more damage via reduced cooldowns on corruption skills.
We have lots of ways to use those additional condi’s either by transferring them to enemies-

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shrouded_Removal
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Grim_Specteror converting them to boons (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Well_of_Power).
This is all without looking at armour runes and weapon sigils. At first i thought in a similar manner to yourself, then i realised the array of transfers we have across builds makes it work to our advantage. The only problem i occasionally run into is not having an enemy to transfer the condi to, but that’s what lifeforce is for
Yes, we do have lots of ways… But most of the skills you listed aren’t used in the condi build. Which looks basically like this:
There are only 2 ways of clearing them:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deathly_Swarm
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Consume_Conditions
You won’t want to trait Plague Sending due to Chilling Darkness being better (triggers other traits like Deathly Chill).. You won’t use the Death Magic trait since Soul Reaping and Curses are the better choices (damage wise). Well of Power has a 40sec cd and you have to be able to stand in the circle for the full 5sec for it’s full effect. very situational skill, unlikely to be used. You would also loose a corruption, for which you are specially traiting.
Suffer can be picked in stead but the build would loose other strong skills which support it (like Epidemic or Blood Is Power).
Spiteful renewal is another trait line which is not as efficient as the other ones in the condi build.
Shrouded Removal also is a trait out of another trait line which; again; is not as efficient as the others to support the condi build.
And Grim Specter can’t be used since Lich Form is inferior to Plaguelands (corruption skill).
Even though you list some options, they just don’t fully cut it against other skills which makes the build shine, damage wise.
They should just add a second of resistance to each corruption skill, like they did with guardian’s “Save Yourselves”, so it gives you a small window of no damage from said self inflicted conditions.
==> This!!
Hi,
Basically, when you go condi with necro you use corruption skills. But then you start inflicting condi’s on yourself in an already condi heavy game just from using your own skills. Not to mention the extra condi’s due to traits.
This just sukcs, it really sucks. There is absolutley no reason what so ever why I want to inflict additional condi’s on myself while already being overwhelmed by 10 different condi stacks. Sure, I can cleanse/transfer a lot of condi’s from myself but there is such a thing as cooldown. Given enough condi stacks you run out of ways to cleanse/transfer them. This means that you are commiting suicide when using your own skills (since, you know, the extra condi here and there)…
This probably could have worked in vanilla GW2 but not in HOT.
Dear Anet, please do something about this. Give us at least a few skills which transfer condi’s to boons (like Guardian with Contemplation Of Purity) in stead of just offloading them. This is really a skill we could use better than Guard. Or why don’t we become imune to condi’s for a while? Other classes have invulnerability EXCEPT FOR NECRO!
Condi Necro is just the kamikaze pilot of GW2.
Does any one you actually enjoy this? Of think this is reasonable?
I mean, just look at Blood Is Power(in attach). Around 5k self inflicted damage right there when not transfered/cleansed… That’s bonkers…
(edited by Azzara Nectum.1734)
But how do you do so much damage? I can hardly go over 300k….
Please explain how to maximize damage…
Last season 2 warriors dominated necros. this season though, the necro should always win the fight 1v1 in my opinion
Agree on this one.. With the current state of Necro in sPVP it is very doable to 1vs1 a kittenload of builds/professions..
Although I don’t win all 1vs1 because there simply are way better players out there or I mess up, I do have a good chance of killing them..
I’ve managed to burn down warriors (both power and condi builds), guardians (dodging traps and their pull is essential here), thiefs, etc etc
But here’s the catch: don’t just copy and paste the metabattle build and expect to win. You need to know your build and when to time your skills… Necro has enough sustain to bait them into buring all their defense.. Just be patient.. Patience is key..
For example guardians/dragonhunters: wait out their initial cleanse, this will trigger boons on them and as soon as you see the boons pop up: corrupt the kitten out of them. Most will panic due to the condi bomb and pop invul.. After that has passed, you transfer your condis. Then spectral armor, warhorn 5, pop shroud and watch them melt away (Dhuumfire is your friend here).
Similar logic applies to warriors…
Oh and did I mention that thieves don’t like marks from staff? Breaks all their stealth.. just chill them so they stand still, few good hits and they are dead
Here is the build I’m using and I’m 3 wins away from gold (just started playing last week in this season):

GW2 crashes when clicking "Leave Match"
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: Azzara Nectum.1734
Hi,
I wish to report an issue with GW2. The client crashes when you click “Leave Match” at the end of a PVP match.
This usually happens every other match. I am not the only one having this issue, 2 of my friends have the same problem.
Client is 64bit.
Who else has this and is this already know by Anet for a fix?
Cheers!
Thanks for the feedback..
I’ll try your comments out as soon as this connection error thing gets fixed..
Hi all,
Looking to make a pretty decent PvE build for my Necro. Somewhat of hybrid between condi spam and hard pressure in shroud.
I was hoping to get some feedback from the more experienced Necro mains for following build:
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vREQRBLRtG2JzmQ1NYzNg3NA/NYpYwiCADgEA1QYKUri7hDxkIA-TBSFQBMS9HRqEkYK/ejWBA8EAc3+D+SXQBOJAkCYSpRA-e
It uses a combo of carrion and sinister in order to build up a big health pool (which in turn leads to a juicy big shroud bar) and high condi damage (3015 at 25 might).
It combines scepter with a dagger and a warhorn for obvious reasons:
- always +150 condi damage from Lingering Curse trait
- utility from warhorn (interrupt and swiftness)
- dagger for condi transfer
As skill choices: all corruption spells on lower cooldown (thanks to Master Of Corruption trait) to spam & spread condis and get 10 might stacks through Blood is Power.
Trait lines:
- Soul reaping
- Curses
- Reaper
You should get 100% crit chance in shroud which should constantly trigger Chilling Nova and Deathly Chill.
The sigils used are Frailty and Earth to keep bleeds and Vulnerability up.
Only thing I’m worried about is all the self conditions inflected by corruption spells. Will this be an issue?
Is this a viable build and will it hit hard enough to melt everything in PvE (both casual and end game content)?
Thanks for any feedback given!
1. A “forge all” button in the mystic forge (Ever tried upping from destroyer cores to lodestones and needed 350 to craft all the primordus weapons? No, well you should because you can click a gazillion times to forge all 350 1 by 1!)
2. Mouse pointer adjustments options so you can actually track you pointer in a huge fight
3. Farming tools bought in gem store are now shared among all characters (or option to buy shared farming tools slots just like shared inventory slots)
4. Ability to change race for a character?
Don’t worry too much about being in melee range on d/d condi. You should be evading much of the time off d/d 3 and dodge, and it’s pretty easy to bounce out and get some space if things get too hot. SB synergises with it very well (sb4 to d/d3 for spitting out more poison), and sb5 is great for positioning/kiting/running like hell. If you want to have swiftness, then run it with Acro as one of your trait lines which gives speed on dodge, if not then run DA for more damage. I personally prefer Acro, but that’s me.
Thanks for the tips & advice! I’ll try it out.
I just picked up thief as well and read up on some info. Apparantly D/D condi is really powerful. The lack of range however does concern me since staying in melee range is often suicide in most battles.
Is the shortbow usable in PvE as second weapon to build up some distance and kite? Or does that hurt the double D/D condi build?
And how about mobility with the condi build? It seems to lack perma moving speed increase?
imo:
Shield Bash, Arc Divider, Headbutt: changes apply to PvP only => problem solved
in PvE they are just fine and makes the warrior feel truly the “in your face” melee fighter
Due to slow cast time he now feels like Wolverine in the movie Logan: old, slow, out of breath, beaten up..
The warrior feels like he is on retirement
Dear Anet,
I wish to report a recurring and everpresent issue with the game. If you’re playing living season 2 or 3 and face a final boss at the end of the chapter, you will get a DC fault and return to main menu after defeating the boss.
I had to do Bitter Cold and Frozen Out about 4 – 5 times to complete it. Every single time a DC fault happens.
I’m now facing the same issue when doing The Mystery Cave. Starting again for the 4th time now. When I slay the Shadow of the Dragon and it goes to cutscene, I get a DC right after I see the Shadow falling on his back from the wall it’s trying to climb.
I am seriously getting kittening fed up with this. This game is hardly enjoyble this way. The boss fights in itself a are pain in the but due to kittenty mechanics (more knockdowns and interrupt anyone???) and then it gets topped off by having to do it 4-5 times due to DC errors.
I can assure there is nothing wrong with my internet connection at the time. Curse for example keeps going smoothly, web pages open on my browser, I can receive mails without fault. I don’t use additional routers or switches and I’m not on a wifi connection.
My guild buddies have the same issue, so it’s not client related or local internet connections.
Fix this please! At the moment of the DC I can see some retransmissions in the TCP stream when I use wireshark to sniff the traffic or the odd TCP reset comming from your end.
Thanks !
I actually like the necro.. both in PvE and PvP
I’ve had more success in PvP playing Reaper than playing Ranger, a much higher win rate..
PvP is always a delicate balance between succes of fail.. time a skill bad and you die.. No matter which class..
I do agree though that Warrior is way to OP… The sustain on that class is complete bullkitten!
In my opinion, Druid has killed Ranger as a class by making them a healing bot basically. Currently Warrior, Guard, Engi, Thief, Ele, Necro & Rev out dps Ranger… Hell, even Guardian is a better condi trapper than Ranger (PvP)..
Ever stepped in https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Test_of_Faith? Then you know what I’m talking about…
Druid needs to go as our elite spec! Why? Because Ranger as an archtype is already druidic by default:
Ranger archetype
———————————-
Rangers skills in books and games can include and are not limited to:
Skilled with the bow, usually because they use them so often for the hunting of wild animals.
They tend to be well versed in other forms of combat however, most notably dual-wielding short swords or long knives, although rangers prefer using ranged weapons, and their melee combat abilities often pale in comparison to other character classes such as a warrior or barbarian.
Throwing knives
Stealth
Climbing
Detecting or laying traps
Taming, calming or charming animals
Tracking and leaving no trail to be tracked
Knowledge of herbs for medical and poisonous uses
The art of healing (magical or medical) due to their self-reliance => DRUID!!
Land and nature related magic and enchantments or the ability to recognize them or resistance to them
Ability to move quickly through the forests due to their familiarity
Skilled in speaking the language of all creatures.
Skilled in training wild animals.
Let’s take Druid and move it the recycle bin. And let’s introduce: Shapeshifter! Transform into a werewolf or something along that line… Werewolf would make some sense from my PoV.. You absorb nature energy and unleash it in it’s most deadly and feared form… Never gonna happen but I would prefer that over kitten Druid!
Get rid of druid as healer…
Up our dps by a lot… and I do mean a lot!! An awful lot
I’m constantly outperformed on DPS statistics by basically every other class…. DH doing +up to 200k dps when comparing statistics…
And make Greatsword a viable dps option as well
(edited by Azzara Nectum.1734)
Hi fellow Ranger/Druids…
A short introduction:
I’m a 33 year man (screw this multi-gender bullkitten)…
So you’re saying you are a cisgender
The deal with gear is ascended is the highest stats, legendary is equal to ascended but lets you swap the stats at will.
Metabattle isn’t a bad place to start. It gives you a good base build and then you can tweak it until you find something that works for you.
Other than that just keep your eye on the forum, you’ll see plenty of builds pop up. Use the build editor or PvP lobby to experiment. And there really isn’t a wrong build for 95% of PvE so don’t stress.
Is it easier to acquire legends or ascended? I do not have the time, unfortunately, to grind & grind & grind. So I need to make the most out of time played.
Haha I love your introduction. 30 yo here and can relate v much. On phone and don’t have time now for in depth answer
Thanks :-)
They are both a grind. Ascended is easier to get because you can just level up crafting but it’s expensive. Honestly you can get by fine with exotics. You’ll be able to get ascended accessories easily enough from laurels (log in rewards), guild missions, or a few other ways. The newer stats can be acquired through raids or the new living story map by turning in blood rubies to a vendor.
If you do decide to craft ascended gear (or get some from drops) look up the mystic forge recipe for converting stats, that way you can craft cheap stuff and convert it to better gear.
Got an ascended piece from PvP.. Wrong stats though… But still…
Looked up the living story: 200gems per chapter.. yeah right, not going to pay that…
I’ll look up the forge, thanks for pointing it out..
I must say that the druid spec works well in PvP.. If the spike damage isn’t to high or without constant stuns or whatever I can survive and stand my on 2vs1 even.. It’s fun to keep them busy trying to take a point, wasting time on me in stead of actually scoring points, hehe…
Almost cleared the Citadel of Flames track in 1 evening (with the use of XP boosters).. Nice rewards…
- Yeah, Druids are a heavy support class. You won’t be dealing much dps when you pick its specialization.
You can also try out the shoutbow one, its more fun to play, make you feel like a real ranger, but requires a little more experience to pull it off: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Shoutbow
If you wish play as roamer, wandering around the map solo or in group, searching for small scales fights, you can go with my build, tbh i haven’t found any build that is better than that atm. Here you can find the written guide: http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Druid_-_Shout_Trooper_Roamer
If you have any doubt don’t hesitate to ask, i am sure someone will quickly help you out. We have a great community here.
Not quoting all for visibilty & highlighting personal prefs.
Shoutbow looks like it will suit me best, so I will try and follow that for a more general every day build (mostly PvE and quick unranked PvP)
I really like the linked the Roamer build btw. Will save up and def try it out.
For the fractal part, I’ll follow the advice and zerk through the first levels and go condi as from tier4. I will take a while to get there, but someday I will :-)
Excuse me now for a while.. Going to hunt (get it, ranger and all, hahahaha, I’m so funny sometimes) Molten skins.
Hmmm… can’t really fins what stats a Shoutbow uses… Berserker/Zaelot/Soldier/….

Hi fellow Ranger/Druids…
A short introduction:
I’m a 33 year man (screw this multi-gender bullkitten) and avid gamer throughout all my life. I started on commodore64 and saw the rise of popularity in gaming. I’m glad to see it came out from an anti-social, no-life base dweller dogma to the socially accepted harmless pass time, which it is. I do not fully agree with al this micro-purchases and DLC kitten but then again, I’m old school. You used to buy a game and you got a fully devoloped game (looking at you EA, ActiBlizz, mobile games and DOTA & LOL crap).
Yes, I’m cinical, deal with it or hide in some kitten safe spot.
I recently started playing GW2 with HOT expansion (after years and years of GW1). I loved the Ranger in GW1 and choose it for my main char in gw2. I’ve hit lvl 80 and 1 HP¨away from full elite spec. I’m currently running a zerker power build somewhat like:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Ranger_-_S/A_LB_Spotter
Still getting my head around the mechanics and everything. GW2 is a massive game. ArenaNet did an amazing job. 5/7 => would by again.
Now I’m looking for advice to further into the gameplay :
- PvP builds & gear
- WvW builds & gear
- Fractals
- Dungeons
I’m wondering how Druid comes into play in all of this. I get the impression that it’s more of a glorified monk, which would be such a shame. I don’t know if meta battle is a good source of info or rubbish.
Concerning PvP: I don’t really enjoy it as much as PvE but the reward track seems intresting enough. I tried it a few times and got my kitten handed to me, destroyed in seconds.
And what is it with ascended & legendary gear?
I truly appreciate any and all help/info to guide me in the right direction. I’v already consulted threads like:

Closing note: buff Greatsword, a lot.. It underperfoms realy bad. A shame since it’s the coolest weapon and very fun to play.
