::Waves to Sea of Sorrows::
The trip down might be a little bit bumpy, but man when you settle somewhere I garuntee you wont miss tier 1.
Surely the only thing that can fix parity in WvWvW due to transfers, is more transfers?
8-12 man guild. Nothing but WvWvW and some instances for gear. Had 100k influence. If you have 5-10 people in your guild and no influence left, maybe you should stop buying guild banquets.
Zerg? I hope your not from DR claiming zerg? I
Good fights tonight. DR’s response time after wiping us or being wiped is really good, you guys move pretty fast. IoJ, stop trying to take Jerrifer’s. Thats like our most favorite place on Green side. Better fights weve had in a while, see what happens this week.
While this is true it would be wrong for Kiwi not to get the credit they deserve. Obviously no one guild is doing everything, just right now Kiwi, SBI, KT are some of our larger guilds having a big impact. I can sit here and name 30 guilds with 10 players or less contributing, not including the militia.
For whats is worth we were outmanned in EB until I logged at 2 am eastern. Kiwi pretty much came over and flooded most maps. They have been doing the heavy lifting as of late, out success pretty much depends on them. Last night didnt see much of IoJ, but a whole lotta DR. Maybe tonight we will have a queue since we are in the lead now, we’ll see.
Score update? Your ahead by a vast amount and in no danger of losing. Might aswell keep score updates to a minimal ;p
Really dont matter where we go, so long as we can get some good fights. A huge problem we have on SBI is most unguilded pugs log on nightly and expect to blitz the whole map. Then, they notice we barely have enough to start break out, do a LOL SBI then leave. This is still quite new, as in the previous months one could attach themselves to WM, SF, SAHP, LoD or even CaLM and just exist their way to a win. Those days are long gone. Newer people are trying to step up and help. Some guilds have taken a bigger role now then before. If we hit tier 8, then so be it.You want to run around with us check me out on Friday night. Clearly though, venting here does not accomplish anything.
Theres no benefit to winning or crushing an opponent in points in WvWvW. As stated in a thread in the last match up, servers push for Tier 1 so hard, put so much emphasis on it, thinking its the Holy Grail. Go read some SoR comments in the Tier 1 thread now. I cant say im surprised to see them say they hate it. I could care less about the score and care more about being camped to the point I cant leave the spawn with 10 people only to see 50-60 Yaks starving for a kill. Keep the points, get me some good fights. Less emphasis or care on points, more on good fights. Most of the people benefitting from WvW buffs dont do any WvW, so other then chest thumping to someone you outnumber, its really a wash.
Enough with the night capping worry posts. Let them do it. Say CD comes back and wins, if you know it was mostly from night capping, who cares? IF YB wins from having superior numbers, who cares? Fight to fight, for no other reason.
From what I gather, YB its upset when its losing points when outmanned, but happy when they are gaining points when they have superior numbers? Whats wrong with this picture? On a side note we also hit a borderlands queue for the first time this, lasted for about an hour.
Dont cry about off peak coverage, you clearly have more numbers then CD/SBI most of the time. If CD has 6 hours where it has more people then you, so be it.
I guess the purpose of the cap limit cant seem to sink in. JQ/SoS/SoR is a prime example. Comparable size. They would have the same numbers, the better coordinated server would win. Thats what they would want, and I think thats what we would want. Go to say Kaening. Huge off peak US advantage. Huge numbers over all. Steamrolled a few match ups now. For those weeks, enemy had no reason to log in. SBI, good server, lost a lot of people. 75% jumped to higher population server. Old points mean probably 7 to 8 weeks of landslide. That means 7 to 8 weeks of not WvWvW’ing. If they had cap limits to keep everyone in relative check, say for instance no more then 10 above what one server had, would lead to a more competitive match up over all. Thats all I was trying to say. From what I gather, all anyone is concerned about is zerging and the fear that they wont be able to zerg to get wins for kittens.
I like WvWvW. We run around with less numbers daily, and havent stopped. However, more and more people leave and those 10×30′s become 10×60′s. Its going to spread to other servers eventually. Im not even saying one for one, but limiting the number others have to keep it competitive.
Wait, by limiting the amount of players each server has at a given time to be comparable to others? My goodness, how the gaming community has changed. This would have little impact on evenly matched servers, you understand that right? Out of curiosity what do you think is going to happen when people stop showing up? It not an unreasonable request and something needs to be done about it.
The lower tiers have comparable numbers. We can barely field 30 people primetime on 2 maps. During the daytime, even worse. I am not saying quit, stop playing, anything along those lines. I am saying this is an issue that needs to be addressed. At best we’re looking at 7 weeks till last place. We been getting zerged for 4 weeks straight with no chance. 7 more weeks might be too much. I really wish we could get our hands on the WvWvW population numbers just to get an idea which servers are filling up.
Not going to be fun to find out in Tier 8 we’re still outmanned 3:1
Yeah, but in the higher tiers there are more players, so you wouldnt really have that queue be the problem, just the normal cap one. In lower tiers where its not uncommon to have one side have 50-70 more people per map it would probably make them rethink where they WvWvW.
Yeah, this is just inaccurate. It wouldn’t be the case 24/7. It hasn’t been. Higher tiers still have large periods of imbalance, especially one on/off times, and when guilds/servers plan big efforts.
Thats what im saying. Less focus on numbers advantage. You dont think the current system is not having an adverse effect on population? Remember when every borderland on every server was full at release?
Yeah, but in the higher tiers there are more players, so you wouldnt really have that queue be the problem, just the normal cap one. In lower tiers where its not uncommon to have one side have 50-70 more people per map it would probably make them rethink where they WvWvW.
I know people immediately get upset with any mention of this, but in my opinion, and probably a few more people, it would drastically improve the quality of WvWvW for many players. Some servers are severely bloated, others undermanned. I can speak from both perspectives, and one of the biggest turn offs in today MMO’s, other then no FFA, is that the answer to everything is to throw a zerg or numbers at it. We can barely make any head way out of our guard zone knowing that the other size had 60-70 more players then us in any borderland.
What about limiting the amount of people each side has to remain relevant with each other. Clearly, limiting the number of people one side has over others prevents blobbing. It would prevent a server from over loading 80 off US peak players in a border land and wiping 10-20 defenders. The top tiers probably would not change much, they have a whole slew of people looking to fight. Gone would be night capping, spawn camping, getting over run with mega zerg. It wont stop from losing, because one group will always win over another, however it would be more based on them being better players.
Population would no longer be the biggest factor in winning a match up. GUILD team work, strategy and determination would. JQ, SoR, SoS, others with really good small guilds would still propel their servers. I’m going to go out on a limb here, and say, if something is not done eventually people will stop playing, which will probably result in either server merges or something else. Having first hand watched a server go from full to not being able to get Breakout event to start on a Saturday, things cant continue this way.
Im sure more people can add to this, and would love to get some other ideas. I cant see why it wouldnt work and would love to hear why some one would think this is a bad idea.
Saturday afternoon, took 25 minutes to get 10 people to start break out in EB for SBI. After finally getting the Mendons with about 14 people, we were met with about 50 from Yaks Bend. Looks like its going to be a bad week to WvWvW. They really need to let us drop faster.
Next friday cant come fast enough.
SBI is done for? What is the prize for being tier one or winning every week? We been dealt a terrible hand. We probably have the least populated WvWvW force now. We’re doing OK. Tonight we had outmanned all night in EB. We turned it around and flipped SM versus a well defended superior enemy force. It was fun, and was good fights.
Theres no question we’re going to be last place. Thats how it is. We’ll make the best of it and get better doing it.
In a perfect world we would have the same amount of coverage/presence all the time. Then the better players would effect the outcome. I am just shocked at the blatant stupidity of people saying stuff like “QQ I cant get my 80 man guild in at same time for eventz” or those who complain “Ive been on JQ since day one and now I have 4 hour queue”, when all those servers did was either mass recruit guilds of 100+ hardcore WvWvW guilds, or become a victim of said transfers. Its preposterous to act like you didnt see this comming. There are caps in place, and even if there was a problem with the queue, which might be the case, you’re still going to have a huge amount of people trying to get in.
Want to fix WvWvW? Limit the same amount of people on per map, per world. On a side note, if it is bugged, I hope they fix it. I have a feeling it really is just overload due to new match ups, bandwagons and hope that the comming PvP patch helps the PvP community.
Technical issue is most servers have gained a couple hundred people, top tier probably upwards of a thousand if not more, new match ups, more people playing in anticipation of PvP patch. Did you expect to gain all these people and not have an issue? Have you forgotten the multi hour queues at release and in beta? Those servers everyone fled? No queue, no issue.
We have no queue, nor does HoD or IoJ. We have outmanned aswell. I am going to assume all the transfers have flooded WvWvW, and there has been sizeable losses/gains to each server. If all the recipients of said transfers now have queue’s, and all the servers that suffered from fleeing players, what does that tell you?
What did you honestly expect? Also, as the matches are going to be real chaotic and everyone moving tiers, your going to have more people wanting to play. Some servers already had some queues, add 500-1000 more players hopping on and what do you expect to happen? Remind anyone of first week or beta match ups?
Thats funny, we have outmanned and instant pops on all 4 maps. Hmmmm.
Please dont do this unless you merge NA/Euro servers to mix up coverages. I cant wait to get away from zergy portal bomb culling baddies. You want every server to have that? kitten, I cant wait till tier 9.
From some SBI, probably because some SBI went there. While alot of people recognized why there was an exodus, most feel abandoned. Having those people plus other servers migrations hit where it hurts. I guess from TC standpoint its more frustrating to watch SBI guys hop over to the already larger server in a recently comparable server strength. If HoD would have all quit, then everyone hopped over to SBI or JQ, either side that didnt get the remnants would have resulted in the same kind of feeling. Luckily, that didnt happenand allowed us to beat JQ and BG for a couple of weeks.
Things I keep seeing is not fun, this is so skewed, crap like that. We, all three servers know what happened. Make fun where you can. You cant stop people from doing what they do. You have a couple of days left to transfer if rating and tier is that important. For us, and my guild, it is a player killer mentality from Dread Lord days to perma delete matches in the death chamber in NWN. Fight for the fight, and embrace the opportunity to have a target rich enviroment. We all win and lose fight, move up and down in tiers. Enjoy it, end of story.
For the record, on reset that first friday, it was nothing but the militia. who packed 1 maybe 2 maps. All of our guilds had moved on or left. Im not even sure if SF even participated more then a couple of hours each night, and thats not slander, those guys played a whole lot and needed a break. We went from militia packing first reset, and a few hours of specific guild presences at 25% capactiy, to 30 ish people on reset in one map. SBI stopped showing up about 4 weeks ago, the writing was on the wall.
Not trying to totally downplay your victory that first week, but lets be honest. Im pretty sure things would have been a hell of a lot different, heck I doubt we would have fell to tier 2.
Really though, we get it it. Bad match up, 5 days to go, no biggy.
This matchup is so boring. SBI pretty much has given up. It’s a shame what so many transfers to one server can do to other servers.
Has nothing to do with giving up. We certainly have not given up. 30-35 people in EB tonight, only map we had any sort of presence on. Still tried to do something, people were very helpful and disciplined.
Good fight FEAR. That first wipe down in your neck of the woods we seen only 20 of you or so run by. The culling was a wee bit issue, but once engaged, oh well. We just were trying to get you guys south by putting swords on your keep water gate. One of our rangers was drunk and passed out on gate, I think someone got him ;x
We almost had a good push on the keep(SBI) tonight, we had some militia decide to ram water gate, got us in. Was a really good job by them. I grabbed who we could, ran 20 or into the water gate only to watch about 15 up level guys go jumping up the vista instead of building the three rams at the gate. We blew quite and opportunity, but such is the price paid when our success at even small scale attacks depend on an upleveled militia. Maybe next time it will work out differently.
Good fights, sorry we dont have any more to offer then what you have gotten. Last of our transfers kicked in this weekend, so unless we get someone here this is it for the week. Catch you guys tomorrow.
I understand. Try and utilize www.stormbluffisle.com . If you are on an offpeak timezone, or peak for a non US citizen rather, you might need to take up reigns as a commander or atleast rally people until one is on. A whole lot of chaos right now, going to take a few for things to settle.
Couple of things going on. First 90% of WvWvW players on the server fled. Second we have a whole slew of people not playing, mostly waiting on us to slip. Third, we may gain more players, just not what we had, as more hardcore guilds seek a challenge and smaller fights, such as AoN. Lastly, it all hangs on us eventually, even if we slip to tier 9, which seems probable, WE(SBI) have a direct ability to effect this. No one is going to help us. So its kind of a simple decision. Either you go and be happy elsewhere and be able to just log in, run around with the zerg and be militia OR you be happy here with the challenge. Cant sugar coat it though, its really bad right now, only going to get worse ;D
Such bad manners TC, we rode in like gallant knights to help save Bravost and you reward us with spears in our back! What Tom Foolery is this!?
135 points seems like a good showing considering the circumstances. SBI dont read this crap and get discouraged. Get in there and mix it up.
Thanks, AoN. You guys have been invaluable the past couple of days. So refreshing to see small group willing to throw themselves at massive odds. Hopefully you stick around, need your kind.
You cant do Tier 1 without people on ALL the time. Skill/tactics mean NOTHING in WvWvW if you only have people on 4 hours a day. When War Machine left to “train” on Kaening, people held on thinking they would return. I cant tell you what went on behind the scenes, I didnt know. I did know LoD, SSQ and SF, along with other guilds were putting the militia on their shoulders and trying to keep SBI above water in Tier 1. Without the coverage it was in vain. Where Ssq could lead one map, WM 2 more, no longer was that the case.
As more people started to show up on Kaening knowing they could take advantage of WM’s presence, the better they did. Eventually it started to become apparent that WM would not be returning, and I think when Jang Gun made that clear on some recruitiment post somewhere, that was the nail in the coffin. I’m sure alot of it had to do with guild pride in being involved in the marquee match ups then most would like to admit.
I dont begrudge anyone for leaving. 20 years ago I may have probably done the same, in the name of glory. Fact is in age you care less about these things, and actually kind of look forward to less popular victories or achievements then the mainstream. Coverages are going to change eventually, and those same guilds might find themselves near burn out yet again. Play for fun, and that doesnt mean not to be competitive, but dont lose sight of what its supposed to be. A game.
No, buy I have some Tab in the icebox and I can make you a nice tuna fish salad sandwich if you like?
Let them have Tier 1. They may come to find it not to such a great prize after all. Look at the effect it had on SBI. We could flaunt our community then as well as SoR does now, but in the end it didnt have a lasting effect. I dont know the rivalry between TC and SoR but it seemed good natured up until this week. The score is more lopsided due to a server struck with a mass exodus, and a number of new guild’s flooding SoR for Tier 1 glory.
If TC wants to remain in Tier 2 for a matter of boasting, I would prepare more for upencomming servers such as Maguuma, Dragonbrand and that digusting entity that is Kaening. You guys are going to have your hands full with them focus on that, not holding SoR back.
For what its worth, aside from being outnumbered this was quite easy to stomach on the receiving end. It was almost refreshing to run around and just try to find fights, avoid zergs and not have to worry about PPT. I bet TC did the best when they did just that. Problem is, your starting to worry about it. The more you worry the more you will realize your only chance of Tier 1 is to bandwagon. Its not worth it.
Go back to respecting each other and being cordial. Save the vitriol for another match up. SoR will get plenty of it if they move up, and TC will get plenty of it when Maguuma and Kaening arrive. Neither of you should be lambasting each other, kitten I sound like a grandmother. Also, dont expect us to totally abandon the match next week, if we have 50 people playing again, well have 50 people holding atleast one tower. I refuse to let their be a blackout in primetime. Ogre’s watch is ours!

But Tier 1 is where its at! Your a noob if you arent in Tier 1 !
Our tent is probably pretty awesome. Mosquito net, double zipper doors, water repellent, you know…classy…and large enough for our entire WvW force to rest comfortably (sleeps 8…)[/quote]
I dunno, im a pretty big guy, big hammer, not sure if 8, maybe me and 2 asura. BTW I just reported you instead of quote, hope you dont mind.
On a serious note, last of our transfers go through tonight apparently, so you will soon see the true power of this battle server. Reset should be interesting (or boring ;P)
Bring back pre-casting kittenes!
Agg filter ;(
I dont really think you know what SBI is going through. Clearly, I know full well what kind of player a alot of the people on SoR and have had some interaction with TW before. Many of you are very good players and decent folk. However its not the same. You have not been on a server that went from deserving to be in Tier 1 to Tier 8 in less then a week. This game, more often in the higher tier’s then the lower tiers, is about population, and numbers. Couple in the fact we have lost EVERY SINGLE large guild on the server, barring a number of PvE based guilds. I imagine even in your prime time versus Blackgate, your core guilds that we have seen in this lopsided matchup play very well. Yeah, you lost the PPT, but I can only guess you had some great fights. Theres none of that now. This is a dynamic that I expect only HoD clearly has gone through.
I do have to agree that whomever from SBI is comming here crying about the matchup, or being spawn camped, no one is forcing you there. Its your own free will to leave those gates, deal with the consequences much like the rest of us. Its a simple thing. We’re going to get the brunt of the attention, from both TC and SoR. Suck it up and take your beating like the rest of us. If you cant handle losing, dying or being camped, transfer. Theres going to be an awful lot of that going on from here on out.
SoR and TC are decent players. They are at a whole a more honorable enemy then any of the crap we had to deal with when we had Orb Gate, and still less zergy then HoD or SoS. I am also willing to wager the camping you see now is going to be something most of you will remember fondly. I got news for you, WM is going to make our lives miserable.
SoR, TC, dont let up. SBI, take your medicine. We’ll be fine.
SBI lost all of its coverage. All of it. We can scrape enough to barely hold 2 towers in EB to Tier 2. We are outnumbered on every map, lack any kind of off peak presence. 5-8 small WvWvW guilds are left, as well as some structured. Militia all the happened. Transfers killed the server, we will be in tier 8 soon. This is to be expected, and will restart from scratch. We know of one hardcore group guild that joined to get outmanned fights, maybe more will come.
SBI has lost 95% of its WvWvW player base, all coverage spots barring 5 hours US primetime are empty. We heading straight to tier 8, but, thats ok. Having played from top to bottom, I am ok with that.
Well another interesting night in Eternal Battlegrounds. Want to thank LNM, french transfer guild who have been helping us maintain out +75 during the day. I know you guys could just PvE for the next couple of days till Thursday when you flee the server. Dunno if we’d be able to produce any showing during day without you.
Want to thank the militia again, especially KARMA for comming out last night and holding out against multiple attacks. Hope we see you some more in WvWvW. We had a force conceived of mostly lowb’s, which is good. I encourage even more lowb’s to come out, they can help make a difference, and i hear arrow carts are almost like being powerleveled ;D
We’re roughly 50 people prime time, kind of showing how much of a hit we have taken. I have seen that a lot of the older militia type guild stayed, hopefully with their presence we can continue to win some fights and get more people involved.
Ive made multiple threads about this since the exodus began, all deleted as this one will probably be a victim to aswell.
They did. As did every other large guild on SBI. Right now all we have left is the militia. It was a three way server split with JQ/SoR/Kaening. We had a high population server, always packed. Outmanned in EB last night. Kinda wish they just killed transfers and didnt give a heads up.
Interesting night for us in SBI. We tried holding most of our property last night in Eternal Battlegrounds and did a respectable job for about 6 hours. Was clearly outmanned till about 10 Eastern, at which point we flipped most of our stuff back. Slowly, however, people started putting transfers through as things got increasingly difficult. By 1:30 eastern we were down to about 20 people on EB, heck we tried to defend an 8 golem rush with maybe 10 of us. Does not bode well for the rest of the week, where we could barely field enough in 2 maps. Going to be hard to have anyone in one map at this point.
Hang in there SBI.
Back to the initial matchups, so things even out. The total landscape of the top 10 servers change dramatically. People need to transfer, thats fine. People who didnt are going to be in for a much rougher ride.
I shudder to think if we’ll be able to hold one tower or keep tonight. This is why the need to get rid of transferring and make people reroll. Either transfer now, or deal with outmanned for the next 10 weeks till we get to tier 8.
1 or more server from each matchup barring tier 1 just lost tons of guilds. Dont make us sit and deal with 8 weeks of being farmed. This is not going to help matters. Otherwise, just merge servers and bring the matchup to 4 or 6 tier’s.
