Downed state wouldn’t be so bad if you couldn’t continue to do decent damage or teleport etc. You should essentially be rendered unconscious except for ability to self heal….if buddies can come and help you fine but all the other abilities really make it stupid imo.

Coming in 2nd by a 50k gap…..let’s take a closer look at that shall we then? What it tells me is that when we had anything even close to the same numbers you couldn’t accomplish anything. However, you sure kicked our kitten at PVDoor over the week to accumulate that 50k. GoM is doing a bang up job facing off against servers that probably come pretty close to zerg and coverage this week though….oh wait that’s a MINUS 34 rank drop currently. My bad I thought it was gain lol….good job though you are doing wonderful.

I don’t think some kind of reward for “winning” is a terrible idea. However, I would argue that RANK GAIN/LOSS is more of a true indicator of who wins or loses. If you are going against a much higher ranked server but put up a great fight and do much better then was predicted I think you are the winner even though the scoreboard might say differently. What that reward is I don’t know. Perhaps, they just need to increase the outmanned buff to offer better rewards/buffs when you have it?

I’m so proud of what the players and commanders of NSP do day in and day out. We are so often outnumbered and yet we never quit. The new match-up system only proves, beyond any doubt, how well we are doing with our rank gain versus servers that often double our number or more. Good Commanders and individuals actually make a difference in NSP…..not just the mindless blobs that most servers throw out there and then thump their chests when they win with 5:1 odds. Keep it up!

I know, my point is why the hell isn’t this posted in game or at least on the official forums? If the point of the new system is to more or less stop “using” tiers and start thinking of rating then why not show it in game? If we are facing off against a much more heavily populated server and definitely losing on the PPT but keeping it close our rating gain might actually be much higher then said opponent. Well it should kitten well be somewhere for all to see….“Hey guys I know it’s been a tough matchup this week vs the enemy hordes but we actually are doing very well….check out our rating gain!”.

Why do we not have a score board in game showing our rating as well as the current gain/loss? It might go a long way for morale if you are losing the PPT but actually doing very well with the rating gain for people to see. Why in the world do we have to use a third party site to track this? I swear A-net some of the stuff you guys do is pretty bush league to be perfectly honest.

GoM is “good” if you define “good” as having a ton more people then their opponents but suck at anything when the numbers are equal. So, by those standards I would definitely agree that GoM is very, very “good”.

Easiest solution I’ve seen posted on here has been the suggestion to cut the number of people who can enter WvW by a significant number, say half. It would hopefully promote people on overpopulated servers who would get sick of long que times to transfer to lower pop servers. Servers who find themselves outnumbered at least wouldn’t be hopelessly outnumbered either. Then, since you have much better server populations and coverage between ALL servers you could go and use this random matchup generator….

1. You get better population distribution amongst ALL servers
2. You get the benefit of your Random Matchmaking system without the imbalance
3. You cut down on skill lag problems hopefully

The whole WvW system is flawed and terribly conceived. The old system of tiers was supposed to ensure that servers of equal strengths would hopefully be playing each other. The problem, even if free transfers never would have existed, is that eventually complete staleness would set in as you would face the same opponent over…and over…and over. People get tired of that……

So, now we want to introduce a system that introduces some dynamic movement in the match-ups to spice things up. However, this might sound good but the population and coverage disparities are often so great between tiers that it just leads to miserable “fun factor” for lots of folks. Even if we give this new system time to run its course and match-up variance becomes more stable we get back to the original issue of match-up staleness. You are in a no-win situation unless you address server population balance in WvW maps!

A very basic premise of almost all pvp games or competitive events is roughly equal numbers. They don’t have to be dead even in WvW but they need to be somewhat close. The server population cap for WvW probably needs to be lowered or you need completely tweak your outmanned buff to give some tangible bonus when it comes to actually fighting.

Currently, I can’t imagine any type of scenario where you can possibly fix WvW unless you can address the population and coverage issues. It’s a fundamental flaw in your system and one that limits any attempts to improve the WvW experience…..

The answer is obvious, isn’t it? Drop the que threshold by half. People will get frustrated by long que times on high pop servers and transfer to servers with less of a que. This will also allow the low tier servers to compete more evenly against the higher tier servers, as it cuts the number of people per map.

Yea the que threshold needs to be reduced or used as a gate to help maintain a better level of balance. Long que times for overpopulated servers would help to promote transfers to less populated servers.

It won’t happen. Personally speaking I think every race should have some variation to it that helps add some uniqueness. I go back to D&D based race bonuses and penalties that I think actually made sense. For example, I think Asura should have been given a bonus to say precision but a penalty to might….Norn maybe just the opposite. But yea, an Asura is about the size of a healthy dump from a Norn or Charr….

The problem to me is that there is no reward or incentive other then having “fun”. Now, I would say that is a completely acceptable reward in itself but when you are hopelessly outnumbered it just isn’t that fun. Getting farmed and facing 10v1 fights all week is not going to be much of a turn on for most people. “Hey guys I know we are getting blown out on the scoreboard but we are gaining rank!”…..yea, that’s great if you actually had a tangible reward for putting up a valiant effort against impossible odds but there isn’t. It’s just a bad system in so many ways…..

I’m sure population numbers come into play in most match-ups to varying degrees. A T3 server might have a relative low server for that tier but in T4-5 they might be competitive numbers wise. However, I’m talking about the bottom of the barrel servers….T7-8. There simply isn’t any tiers lower for them to go. Plus, with the new matchmaking system how is an underpopulated server in T7-8 going to do anything besides get roflstomped? I’m on NSP, love the server but our population is terrible tbh. We do fairly well with the people we have but it is so demoralizing night after night for months on end to face massive hordes….heck I’d be happy with 2-1 odds most times. I just wish Anet would address some of these core concerns instead of worrying about giving us boiling oil mastery and trap vendors.

I guess I’m skeptical of how well this is going to work. I guess I see the potential for disaster in the lower tiers more so then in the higher tiers. I’m on NSP, currently the bottom of T7, and we are completely outmanned and lacking coverage badly. I can’t see how we could hope to have anything even close to a remotely fair matchup against anyone other then maybe t8 opponents. I would not be surprised if our numbers are even lower then some of them tbh.

Anet really needs to either encourage transfers to the lower tiers or maybe make the outmanned buff actually useful. I can appreciate the “free repair” buff but it doesn’t really help significantly outmanned servers in any real way. It sucks being outmanned in your own BL week after week after week.

Tier 6-8 players look inside please.

Might I suggest you consider Northern ShiverPeaks (NSP) as we sound to be exactly what you are looking for. We have a lot of talented WvW’ers but we do have a small population. The good side is that you really get to know the regulars and often the actions of a few really do make a difference. The downside is that we are often outnumbered and you therefore won’t find too many easy fights. So, if you are looking for a smaller community with great people where our idea of a zerg is often 10-15 people then I recommend NSP.

I don’t think increasing damage is the way to go, nor do I think that is our problem. Being primarily a melee class that lacks sustainability coupled with effective condition removal is the larger issue in my opinion. However, giving too much sustain and condition removal along with our potential for high burst could be too much? What I’d like to see is a passive increase to our speed….gap closers on all weapons beside GS and sword……a further decrease on shield block cd when specced….and a further rework of traits that often do not synergize very well.

All I know is I hop on my Ranger that I never play….pulled some spec out off my kitten for him….and do 10X better then I do on my Warrior. I play my warrior ALL the time too…..though I must admit I pretty much wrote playing with him in sPvP off long ago. The devs response time on “fixing” this class is plain horrible. I would bet my next paycheck that the community would vote warrior as the “weakest” by a good margin today…..even after the last round of changes they implemented. Worried about making an unstoppable juggernaut??? LOL you guys are so far from having that I wouldn’t worry too much. For the record whomever is in charge of development for warrior…..well take my advice and don’t mention it on your resume because you wouldn’t be qualified to make coffee.

I use Hammer/GS in WvW most of the time these days. Though I have used just about every weapon combo with varying degrees of success. For the most part I don’t have too many criticisms of Hammer other then it is a bit slow and a little too telegraphed. However, if I could change just one thing about Hammer, and truthfully every warrior weapon, it would be to add some type of mobility to it. I’d love to see a whirlwind type attack added to hammer.

I wish someone would transfer to NSP! I have been on the server from just about launch and it is getting exhausting lately being almost always outmanned. I think our guys do a tremendous job considering how many people we have but it definitely wears you down after awhile. So many good people and good players but we simply need more. I know NSP could absorb a 100 man guild and still not throw the population balance out of whack in T7…..though with that kind of influx I’m confidant we would move back up into T6.
