Achievement Skins

Hello, I had posted in the Living Story forum the other day regarding the account bound skins we are awarded for various LS events, among others. Since they are achievement based, is it within the realm of possibility to have those skins added to the awarded skins panel alongside the zenith skins? I wasn’t sure if there was a reason that we couldn’t withdraw them numerous times or not, but I have a bank that is filling up with these things, and I’d love to be able to switch them out occasionally. I have 8 lvl 80 characters for each class, and I simply do not have the time, money, or desire to have to use transmutation stones each time I’d like to change them up. Not to mention the issues of finding and acquiring a backpiece to put them on.

A link to the aforementioned discussion:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Skin-Achievements/first#post2883612

As another item for discussion, I have almost two stacks of basic transmutation stones that I can never use… will there be any plans for upgrading/using/implementing these in the future? Similar to the level 20 scroll, I have no characters available to use them on.

Genea, 8/10 for the look… I like it!

Mine is a mixture of Midnight Rust and Midnight Fire. I ended up changing my eye color to a bright green in order to match my new staff.

The problem with this is if I can sell skins that I don’t want, then putting them as part of the achievement skins means I can never sell them.

We are referring to the skins obtained through achievements which are not sell-able. e.g. the new Sunless Wings.

Right, only account bound skins, not tradeable ones.

I’d rather just have them available for free whenever I want. The skins were rewarded for achievements, just the way that the zenith skins are., and should also be just as hassle free to use. The skins that shouldn’t be free are the ones purchased from vendors or transmuted from one actual weapon look to another (not skins, actual items).

My main concern over this whole ordeal is that there are so many cool skins I have received from the LS and other achievements, but I am simply running out of characters and bank spaces to store them on. Plus, I’m willing to bet that there will be even more skins available in the future as well… I would love this to happen soon!

Edit: I just realized that by my logic, the Fervid Censer and Scerilite Shell were actually rewarded items and therefore not skins… I’d like to backpedal and add these to my wishlist of available skins as well

Edit Part 2: As a compromise (if one is needed)… I have two full stacks of Basic Transmutation Stones in my bank that I will never use due to their below-level-80 requirements… I would be more than willing to use those for withdrawal purposes for sure!

I listened in on a conversation in our LA today regarding all of the skins we have earned from the various Living Stories, and how folks would love to be able to use them like the zenith skins available from the achievement window. Technically, they (Fervid Censer, Scerilite Shell, Shattered Wings, etc.) are achievement skins, so my question is, is it possible to implement this?

I have 8 characters (one per profession), yet I have a gazillion back piece skins. I would absolutely love to be able to switch our my frog and storm wizard backpacks on my engi at a whim. Not to mention my bank space could use the relief.

Why do we go from fighting higher tiered servers to lower tiered in a heartbeat… But I guess everyone’s happy with the match up because we’re not losing >_>

We don’t become forum warrior if no one starts it. And this is a good matchup, no ones bragging or crying.

I see boasting from IoJ’ers on this page of the thread…

IoJ needs to fight competitive servers that will whoop our tail, but give us something to learn… I feel terrible for the two servers we’re facing. From their point of view we’re just taking advantage of our strengths right now, which I can’t call wrong, but I want IoJ to feel pressured…

We’ve had match ups like this as well, so don’t worry. It happens. Use this as an opportunity to work on tactics and to get the rookie wvw’ers accustomed to the landscape. You’ve seen how the upper ranked servers roll, and we both know they’re not used to fighting servers with experience in small man fighting. Now that you guys have beautiful coverage, I’d suggest practicing for them. I look forward to seeing IoJ climb the ranks!

What is the point of giving Ranger anti-stealth? I know that you said it’s for counterplay, but stealth already has counterplay, it’s pointless and just makes killing Thieves easier for one class and one class only. It’s not as though stealth Thieves are even viable in tPvP.

I’m sorry, but if a ranger debuffs a thief or a mesmer around me, he/she won’t be the only one who will be all over them. Just because thieves and blackwater type mesmers won’t have the free reign they have enjoyed in wvw since the dawn of time anymore, doesn’t mean that they are less viable. I’m looking forward to the changes they’ll be putting on the thief pistol and the changes for the mesmer support roles are an excellent idea to me. It’s about time some of the most selfish classes were given reasons to join the fight with others.

(I know there are other classes that can fill the role of selfish roamers as well, but I don’t think anyone can compare them with the abilities of what thieves and mesmers have done)

I can’t WAIT to see how my ele’s conjured weapons turn out. I would love an instacast, placed at feet instead of ground targeting ability to actually make it more viable for me though. I typically run staff anyways, so the buffs for support are exciting. The thought of coupling that with some conjured weapons for closer combat as well has really got me interested, almost to the point of making my ele my main again. Can’t wait till Tuesday!

Is it within the realm of possibilities to actually change the SKINS of the kits? With all of the back slot skins out now, my engineer would be the perfect place to use them. I’d have my King Toad’s backpack for my elixir gun, Storm Wizard for my Tool Kit, etc. As it is now, I have one of every class, and I simply have no more desire to keep switching backpieces due to nobody else to put them on.

Also, since the back skins are designed around character models (for the most part) the clipping issues should be minimized as well… thoughts?

Eh, I wouldn’t take what only a few “noble” SF kids say. The ones that don’t post here are just like anyone else and use siege. I’ll always find it funny when folks try to put some kind of dark light on the use of siege, especially when they don’t speak for everyone. The ones that don’t like siege are the ones who like to think they can 1vX, and are the first ones to run away.

Most of SF, I’ve found, play exactly how everyone else plays, which was completely evident this morning in their BL. We painted it red, they eventually got enough support to roll some zergs and take back their keeps with siege and golems a-plenty. WvW is WvW, regardless of what a select few like to post.

One difference is that some people take things back, and defend things because “that is what you do”.

But whilst you were judging some on SF as “kids”, I think you failed to realize sir that what was said was essentially:

“We are not going to argue over PPT, and treat it like it is the only important thing”.

Nor do most people on SF consider “winning in PPT”, to be winning. It is a fairly simple and standard thought process, that as you and others pointed out is shared by some but not all.

Case in point: I just had someone tell me last week that we were “gaining rating”, so obviously in their eyes this is what they deem as “winning”. Many people have a different definition, and none of them are wrong. The point is, that more and more week in-week out, are coming around toward the “don’t worry over PPT, it will be whatever it will be” mindset.

I am all on board with you regarding the PPT deal. Who cares? I have fun when I WvW. And that’s with or without siege, regardless of whatever the PPT is. I enjoy taking keeps. I enjoy defending camps. I die a LOT more than I kill, I’m sure, but I still make more money from loots and bags to more than make up the armor repairs. I zerg, I roam, I do the JP’s, I kill quaggans (gasp!) and krait…

My issue is, that when you start talking down to folks like me, trying in some weird way to make me feel guilty about using siege… or guilty for wanting to cap a tower or five. I’m sure there are a hundred different ways that we all enjoy WvW, and nobody should complain about how to play it just because it doesn’t go according to someone’s made-up “code of honor.” Completely reminds me of PAXA and others who simply don’t understand that WvW is a community event that allows even the most hardcore pve-ers to experience the thrill of killing other players and have a little server pride.

I’ve had a blast this week with the scores being so close. Win or lose, I have a lot of respect for a lot of the rivals I’ve met, although I’ll never quite understand the odd DH folks who like to taunt my corpse after steamrolling me with 5+. To each their own!

I’ve been there. In fact, just the other day, I bought a stinking medium chest piece when I meant to buy a heavy one. Had to save it for mystic toilet trash to get some kind of return out of it at least, since you can’t salvage, sell or anything else with it.

Most games I have played don’t even show armor/weapons that the character can’t use in vendor lists, or at least have them greyed out or unavailable to purchase. I don’t see why there would be an issue with having a buyback feature for cases like this, as I noticed it almost immediately after purchasing the piece.

Out of the gazillion builds I’ve tried, this one has been the most successful. I run a modified version with cleric’s gear and perplexity runes (that’s what I had on hand). I use EG, Bomb Kit, and Rocket Boots for utilities and switched from HT to Med Kit. As far as healing goes, the bombs combined with the Med Kit are more than sufficient for most encounters up to 1v3 or so for me. Conditions are managed with #4 on Med Kit and the light field from EG #5 (which ALSO happens to heal XD).

Any more than 3 foes, I use rocket boots to get the heck outta there. Less than three foes sees me dodging around when I’m not flying around with rocket boots and EG #4. Out of the 8 lvl 80 classes I have, this has been the funnest build I’ve played yet!

Food/Consumables Bag

in Suggestions

Posted by: Brigg.3961

Brigg.3961

Greetings! I would absolutely LOVE to see a Food/Consumables bag of some sort implemented, so that I could have easier access to my foods. Say, a 4 slot window that is persistent on my screen that would allow me to click on my favorite foods, rather than having to open up my entire inventory panel and search for the right ones. I’d be fine with this as an extra bag slot if there was a way to not have the ENTIRE inventory screen open the whole time.

I play wvw a lot and having that big screen open while on the run is not fun. It’s the same thing for weapons as well, although to a lesser degree. It’d be nice to have an easier access to swap weapons while not in combat, but I’d prefer foods/consumables over those. In the parts of the game where situational awareness is crucial, I think having something like this would be a great implementation. Thoughts?

I have a character in each class leveled to 80. My engineer was the last to get there. I put off doing so, because of the unique way that the tool belt works, meant I had to reformat my key bindings and then relearn how to play all of my other classes with those changes. Plus, the engineer is definitely the hardest class to play skillfully and effectively. I had at least three engis that were deleted previously before I decided to have at least one of every class.

I have seen some extremely effective engis out there, and I just wanted to post that it is you all that give me hope. I am horrible at the class. I mean that. Absolutely horrible. Probably due to the fact that I was so tired of leveling at that point that I crafted and wvw’ed my engi to 80 for speed leveling. That, coupled with the fact that I have each of the other classes to play, have severely limited my abilities to be an effective engi.

My biggest hope is that they beef up gadgets and main hand weapons some more (I absolutely suck with kits), since I find them the most enjoyable to play with.

Thanks to all who have dedicated themselves to this class and the excellent suggestions you have posted. Hopefully, one day, Anet will see the need to reexamine some of the nerfs imposed that are now obsolete due to the buffs that other classes have received. You guys rock!

(Edit) MonMalthias has posted some outstanding ideas in this thread regarding main hand weapon changes, as well as a little bit of discussion on improving gadgets. Don’t mind all of the calls for chainsaws and whips as those are probably more suited for a separate new-weapons-thread.

scatter to the wind and attack 3+ places at once.

This. We (HoD) got faced with Kain this week, along with ET. Both of our servers were victims to Kain’s ungodly zergs lol.

The great thing about a big zerg like that is, we were able to split up into three separate guild groups within their own borderlands, forcing their server to commit all their resources to us. We held Bay, Hills, and Garrison (albeit, briefly) and they weren’t able to cover the entire map in enough time. They took us out at Hills a LOT. Then, when they were off busy trying to retake Bay, we recaptured Hills. All this and we still had folks taking down their camps and draining the map of their supply.

The smaller groups that broke off were easy prey, since they have apparently only trained in zerg tactics and know very little about how to win the map. It was only when some very organized guild groups started playing Guardian Wars (infinite stability anyone?) that we ended up falling back to bay for our last stand. It was the funnest reset night I’ve ever had in wvw by far. Unfortunately for both HoD and ET, we simply don’t have the numbers to defend during the off hours, so we’re getting trounced PPT wise.

Definitely a new experience in my book, but as long as you can attack where the zerg isn’t, you can easily frustrate them.

So what's the best WVW 1vx roaming build?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Brigg.3961

Brigg.3961

I have found that consistently win 1vx fights your best bet is scepter/torch and staff. I run 2 very similar builds for condition and power 20 0 30 20 0 with just different trait choices.

In my opinion the torch is the best offhand you can get, traited its insanely good. People often think it is a low dps offhand but by using the prestige burn and instant damage combined with a staff phantasm in a power build followed by a shatter I get 8-10k damage off within a second of coming out of stealth while still running 3100 armor.

If you want the easiest to play go a phantasm build, but I found with phantasm builds I actually became a worse player from the lack of any actually challenge to the playstyle.

I was planning on making a post about my condition build when I finish gearing it. Hopefully I will make one with a video showing my combinations this weekend.

I have some poor quality footage I uploaded because of numerous people accusing me of hacking on forums and in /w that shows a little of the play style. This was recorded in the first 2 hours after buying a torch and making the build. I later changed some of the gear to up my damage a bit but this shows off a lot of 1vx with numerous downs and stomps including a lot of 1vx in their camp.

Oh Emm Gee… It’s YOU! I fought you a few times this week in WvW (HoD) using my necro, my thief, and my ele (both staff and d/d bunker). All I have to say is you are an outstanding player. I took note of the weapons you were using and have dusted my own mesmer off which has breathed a whole new life into this game. I wouls be extremely interested in your choice of gear/runes/sigils, but of course I wouldn’t want you to divulge any secret recipes

Again, I tip my hat to you!!
