Couldn’t find a topic on it, but I had a quick question.

Persisting Flames grants Fury on a blast finisher.

Does the blast finisher have to come from me?
Does it have to be my Combo Field?

Hence my comment of “generally.”

Most build structures I see out there focus very heavily on Power, Precison & Ferocity. In terms of DPS, that makes total sense.

I have no idea how to balance it. That would be ANet’s job. I’m just pointing out that the present system restricts what players (generally) do in terms of DPS builds. But if you’re worried about balance then tether the lesser stats together to address that, I dunno.

Yes, tank & condition build, speed builds, etc do not focus on 6/6/x/x/x, but I don’t see many builds like that are touted.

In terms of the original post,

I flubbed. Forgot to finish testing things & realized what items I was comparing were incomparable.

Yeah, Schoalar > Ruby Orb for sure.

Big I’m not really seeing how Flame Legion trumps Scholar. I see the benefit of FL, but the +Duration, % chance to Burn & +Damage vs Burning foes doesn’t seem to beat Scholar’s Ferocity bonus & flat 10% bonus damage.

The burning chance is low, has a 10 second cool down & requires you to be in melee. 20% duration is almost nothing really… And the 7% bonus damage will only by up half the time, maybe?

Did I miss something (I happens).

It isn’t a make or break thing for me, but…

Why are Stats tied to Trait Lines?

Seems to me like that REALLY restricts the builds on the game. If you want any kind of damage build, you (generally) max out Trait lines 1 & 2. The ignore the other 3 Trait Lines (almost) entirely.

What about players who want a combat Earth Magic build (just for example)? Or water build? (Not to mention other class’s Trait lines of course.)

Why not separate the Stat bonuses from the Trait lines? That would allow for a much more diverse series of builds for classes across the game. You would see (again, for example) JUST fire and/or lightning elementalists.

Seems to me that could be a pretty big improvement?
