Is anyone else experiencing this?
I’m to understand Jade, Ruby & Wood nodes in the LW3 maps respawn once a day per character per account.
If this is correct, then why are they not?
On multiple of my characters, I will go into any of the above 3 maps, and for some characters, the nodes are there. For others, they are not. And they’re all definitely past 24 hours and/or the reset.
In some cases, I’ll be minding my own business, just resource collecting along. And, boom, out of nowhere a group of resource nodes I’m headed to just up &disappear.
Is this a known issue and/or is it being addressed?

On the Checkpoint just after completing the first Octopus (feeding it piranhas), it is possible to fall through the floor after activating the checkpoint (as it you can fall into a negative space behind the wall, directly under the piano keys, with no ability to exit said inside of the wall).
This has happened to me numerous times on Tribulation runs now. Complete waste of 10-20 minutes of my time.
Please fix this.
Don’t want to participate in Zerker Meta?
Okay, don’t jpin speed run groups or groups that ask for Zerker Meta. I see LFG posts constantly that Do Not ask for Zerker Only.
Don’t want to exploit?
Okay, don’t. And don’t join speed run groups.

Not doing these things is super easy. Don’t.
You can play this game without doing either. I have a Phalanx Warrior that’s only got a few bits & bobs that’re Zerker, but I still tear the heck out of dungeons thanks to know-how, solid gear & a good build. Is my Elementalist Zerker? Kitten right! The Elementalist is a NUKE. Can’t think of a reason not to be Zerker with one… Am I made of glass? Kitten right! There’s flaws in Zerker. There’s flaws in every build. Everything has a weakness. Nothing is perfect.
it’s not needed because it’s not a problem.
Tbh…
You’re not wrong.
Berserker is a play style. As is Condi. And, at present, they both have their place in varying aspects of the game. HoT “may” help improve Condi throughout the whole of the game, “may.”
Other gearsets are viable depending on the class in question. Phalanx warriors for example can do quite well in Soldier, Knight & Sentinel gear. As can guardians. Many of GW classes don’t do well in other gear because of the non-trinity design of the game & the class’s core concept. Thieves? Elementalists? Hunters? They’re strikers. They’re classes designed to do damage. Really, so are Mesmers & Necromancers. Engineers (imo) are oddballs
Regardless, I’ve seen non-Dps classes run in non-Dps gear. I’ve seen Dps classes run in non-Dps gear. Now, will these builds win any speed runs? No. But speed running is a niche in the game & is not the game.
As long as a party member is benefiting the party & isn’t total dead weight… Why judge then purely on Zerker? Is Zerker “the meta?” Yes. But do you “have” to play it to ge in groups? Nope. Not at all.
Will HoT change that? Maybe. Hopefully.
I’m sure this is a reasonable request (eye roll).
Anet clearly has nothing on their plate right now & has plenty of resources that they could completely redesign a single race, all of their movements & equipment to satisfy an aesthetic.
Or…
They could focus on actual QoL improvements to the game & HoT.
Hmm…
Give me a kitten break.
It’s -end game- gear for a reasons. And it’s a MMO.
MMOs are, by definition, a time sink. What, did you expect all the best gear to rain from the sky & armor you in all their glory without some (gasp) effort on your part?
It took me a month of work to get a full ascended set of armor & a week to get full exotic.
Put in the time & effort, quit whining for free stuff.
I started staff & I’ve mostly never waived (tried d/d, d/f & s/f),
And I can’t tell you how much I like staff better than anything else available. Is offhand focus more survivable? Oh yeah, dat earth 5! But it depends on what your goal is. If you want the bit of survival, s/f might be a good choice as it’s still mid/long range plus some of the helpful defenses available from the focus.
I personally don’t care for melee Mages on this game, so I can’t recommend daggers at all. But that’s just me.
When it comes to ele, being all fire is definitely the way to go. Eles are nukes, plain and simple. Can’t really suggest a PvE build that isn’t heavy fire or lightning or both.
I personally sack Arcane for more Wind, but that’s more dps & less survivability.
Did I die a lot to start? Yes.
Do I die a lot now? Not so much (but I still die yes).
When you play glass you have to rely on positioning & dodging. Which basically translates into practice practice practice. If I need a Wall to save me, I summon an Earth Elemental. If I know I need to soak some hits, I sack a utility for Arcane Shield or Armor of Earth. Don’t be afraid to drop attunements to CC mobs or switch to water to regen for a bit.
It’s a rough path, but the end’s pretty solid.
Yeah,
Healers in GW2 will mostly be shunned for party play in most situations. Since each character has multiple means (usually) of healing themselves, no one relies on others for healing & few desire it, due to present meta.
It’s nice to have the staff ele’s or the Necro’s or the hunter’s water zones, but building a character specifically around healing support… You’ll be booted out of content right quick.
While you don’t have to go berserker, you have to have a build capable of dishing out some damage besides being able to offer utility.
I was looking at meta battle and I dont fully understand how to use the Phalanx build. Can anyone elaborate further.
Phalanx means providing your party with might, everytime you gain might yourself.
Your sources of might:
Signet of Rage will give you AND your party 5 stacks
For grest justice will give you 3 stacks while giving party 6 (3 from standard shout effect and 3 extra cause you yourself gained 3 stacks)
Forcecul Greatsword Trait is your biggest source which will keep the party at permanent 25 stacks. Everytime you critically hit with GS, yoir party gains a stack. This gets OP when you are cleaving.Sounds good right? But you need to sacrifice your first traitline which is about 35% personal DPS loss?
How to use it? Use FGJ and SoR at the beginning of the fight. Mostly camp GS and never stop attacking.
Combine that with Sigils & Runes of Strength and the Might never leaves 25.
I tend to swap between GS and A/M to help maintain Vuln. stacks as well as the utility of a knockdown. The adrenaline ability for A/M is fair as well.
I’m curious, does anyone deviate from the “standard” PS build? 05063? If so, any luck?
Well,
To each their own. If this is a build you like, go nuts! That being said, if you’re posting it here for critiques…
It’s not very PvE effective.
Without touching the power tree, you’re losing a ton of damage right out the gate, not to mention that you’re not using Scholar, Strength or Pack Runes. The utility you’re getting out of Arcane just doesn’t make up for there’s damage that comes from Fire & its buffs. Not to mention, as a scepter build, it’s easy for you to stack might/fury with the Grandmaster Fire Trait. That’s a big loss for you & a party,
There’s an unfortunate reason why the meta builds are so good, and at present berserker builds focusing on power & precision pretty much lay waste to everything in front of you.
I’ve tested some fun builds myself, I particualrly liked the Written in Stone Signet build, but many of them just aren’t viable in serious play. When it comes to dungeons & fractals, go big or go home, I’m sorry to say. I wish it weren’t that way, but the Zerker meta has pigeon hole’d most classes into one build with a handful of minor variants tied to it. I don’t necessarily mind that, as I’ve always enjoyed DPS classes, but I also prefer diversity in viable builds.
In my case, I tried scepter… And I wanted to like it, but I despise its skill set so I went staff instead. And man… I do not regret that decision one bit.
However, it’s a game. It’s meant to be fun. So, play what’s fun.

Only since the patch this morning,
For some reason, every time I enter CM & only CM, I’m getting constant disconnects. I walk in, go to speak to the Exemplar & DC.
Over & over again.
No problems (in general) elsewhere. Just CM, so far.
What’s going on with GW stability since the last handful of patches ANet? I’ve never disconnected from your game before the last week or so, now it’s constant…
My ogre friends in real life are offended by the depiction of the slaying of their families in this game, as are my pirate buddies. And how dare you slay those poor moas for chicken meat, they resemble extinct creatures. You should all be ashamed.
All mobs in this game need to be redesigned into formless animations as to not offend whatever parties may be offended by the death of something they feel is associated with them in some way, imagined or not.
/EndSarcasm
It’s a game. It’s funny. If you don’t like it, play tomorrow or quit (preferably the latter if you’re going to whine about harmless stuff like this). If you want to play anyway, there’s a ton of threads telling you how to disable the color filter & sounds.
Seriously, how is this even a conversation.
Giving it until Noon then uninstalling....

One less whiner to listen to.
Honestly, practice practice practice.
I died a lot at first. But I paid attention & learned to watch for attack tells & know I generally now when & where to time dodges.
Don’t be afraid to be at max range. Most of the time, keep moving.
Need a tank? Greater Earth Elemental is your buddy.
And If you need to, remember, you’ve got slows in Water. Stuns & shoves in Wind. Barriers & Reflects in Earth.
You do more damage in Fire, sure, but if switching attunements keeps you from kissing the floor, can’t hurt.
If you really dig warrior but want to play something tankier & supportive, I’d recommend you look up the phalanx strength build.
You’re a bit more durable & your job is to provide party buffs in addition to damage.
Don’t worry so much about crafting if you’re broke. But some yellow gear, and start dungeon running. You can get a gold+ per run & the baubles required to get exotics for free.
CoF for berserker, CM for Soldier’s, SE for Knight’s.
And Ascended trinkets are pretty easy to get (minus the backpack), just do some guild stuff, get some laurels, PvP/WvW a bit & do a fractal here & again, you’ll have them in no time.
Personally I like Knight’s, but that’s just me. Most will tell you Zerker or go home. Here’s a build example you might like:
In a group, you want to sack one or both signet for banners, depending on if there’s another warrior.
Regardless of what you do, good luck out there.
Yeah,
Totally agree Scholar’s is the best, but only in extremely organized dungeons (which is almost never what I’m in, ever).
I moved around some skills & I like the build better in terms of debilitating my targets, but now I find my Might generation has fallen a little. I think ultimately I’ll end up having to invest in Strength whether I want to or not. At least that way I’ll assure myself of having 25 Might at all times plus ~100% uptime of Fury as well as a permanent 5% damage bonus.
I’m trying to justify a cheaper alternative, but after testing a few tunes in some dungeon environments, I think I answered my own question…
So,
I have a Phalanx Warrior (Greatsword) that I really enjoy. The party buff mechanics of the Phalanx build really appeal to me. But I’m having trouble deciding on an end-game rune to stick with.
I’m using Knight’s for my armor (I like a bit of padding for melee toons) & Berserker for everything else.
Yes yes, Strength is Meta.
But…
I’m looking at:
Strength (obviously)
Although the +duration of Might isn’t critical to me as I can easily hit 25 stacks & keep 25 stacks up after about 10 seconds in a fight. The 5% is nice though. But man? They’re pricey.
Exuberance
Good bonuses to Power & Precision thanks to the Vitality of Phalanx. No specialized bonuses, but great all around stats? Also pricey though.
The Pack
Highest overall dps stats, but the specialized bonuses don’t mean much. The 25% chance isn’t all that & +duration on Swiftness is so~so. But, they’re fairly cheap.
Opinions?
Other suggestions?
Thanks.
I may have posted about this in the past, but I am sure its been over a year.
But doesn’t it seem like a good idea to have a disincentive to the copper bidding wars. I am sure you’ve been there just like I have where you place a bid, and 2 seconds later someone out bids you by 1 copper. so you bid 1 copper, then they bid 1 copper, and whomever is on top when someone decides to sell wins. This drives me nuts
I propose something to promote people who are bidding on an item to actually be willing to increase their bid by a relatively substantial amount. Something that makes them think first if they really want to increase their bid.formatting is terrible in this forum, so I added an image.
Answer: Bid 2 Copper.
This is a terrible idea. Just like any other system of bidding, if you’re trying to bid cheap, expect to get out bid.
End of conversation.
So… … …
Tutorials must be a real problem for you?
Getting to level 20 takes a few days at the most, much of which be accomplished by simply learning how combat, quests, gathering & even PvPing or WvWing works.
If you don’t have patience for that, don’t know what to tell you.
Ummm…what? Do you understand how mammalian anatomy works?
I stopped there. This is Guild Wars 2, not Goat Simulator.
My hero needs to look like kitten in armour, not like sheep in field.
Thank you for understanding.
LMAO!
“Thank you for understanding.”
LMAO, you’re a winner.
So… Customer service is 0% because they announced a limited time series of early sales?
You must not understand successful business models… And… The wings will return. What difference does it make if you can get them at a later date?
Also, you quit because… No Capes? Edna E Mode would be displeased…
If you’re quitting a game because of something like… Capes… I think you might be nitpicking a bit much.

Pass.
WoW was boring due to this mechanic.
GW would be too.
Why be cookie-cutter, when you don’t have to be?
If ANet just wanted to copy WoW in an attempt to generate more revenue, they’d have done it day 1. Doing so now is likely not a good idea…
Well,
Elementalists can deal various forms of status effects & crowd control.
They can heal.
Provide summons to manage aggro.
Conjure weapons.
And are able to put up fire fields for blast finishers which give the might boom (mo’ damage).
Plus more, but that’s just off the top of my head.
And, the can deal AoE damage like no one’s business.
Well, your friends might find longbow Warriors not awesomely effective in PvE (PvP much more so). Warrior usually focuses on dual axes, axe/mace and/or greatsword. That being said, play what you want!
Ranged physical damage dealers, I would say, are Hunters.
Frontline DPS is definitely thief, without a doubt.
If you want party supprt with range, I highly recommend either Engineer or Elementalist. Both classes are good choices.
You don’t have to have melee & ranged or either or. You can be all melee or all ranged if you like. I’ve been on groups like that quote often, you just have to manage aggro & dodges carefully.
Yes. Not all gear can be salvaged. Rewards from leveling for example I think are not salvageable.
Person buys game today. Gets told to play Berserker in Berserker gear.
Taking bets on how they’re going to hate how often times they get downed and then either quit game or roll another class
:)
That’s why I said “only.”
Zerker is 9/10s of the law, but you will have to learn to how it works. Frankly I played Zerker from level 1, and it got me used to it. I hardly notice the lack of defense now.
Yes, in Zerker you WILL get dropped more often, but the Ele isn’t exactly a tank anyway, it’s a Nuke.
If pure Zerker isn’t your thing, mixing some Soldier or Knight armor is helpful. Though is recommend Zerker accessories & weapons…
-
I totally agree by the way, that scepter is a no-go.
I just don’t like how it flows. It’s great for burst & survivability, but it’s attscks feel so forced…
Ok I know there is a discussion about the prices of silk. However with 35,628 pages of back and forth, it’s getting difficult to keep track of all thats going on, and arguments are just being repeated.
So instead of discussing the reasons behind the prices, the disparity of mats and time required for light ascended armor, lets talk solutions to the problem.
Several of the solutions already presented, and discussed at length are:
Decrease the amount of silk required for damask.
Increase the amounts of other mats required for ascended medium/heavy.
Introduce a reliable method for obtaining silk.Lets try not to bring those back, and start another circular discussion about the pros and cons of each. Instead lets come up with new solutions. looking at the problem from another angle and devising a new solution.
As others, and myself, have suggested in the other thread adding cloth as a salvage drop to medium armor, would increase the supply, which in turn would have an effect on the TP prices, as well as make it more viable for “farming”.
What other solutions that we haven’t looked at, that could possibly be viable?
Unfortunately, 2/3 solutions are some of the most viable solutions to the problem.
Reducing silk to bolt & bolt to thread is a critical step.
Reducing thread, leather or ingot to insignia (and components) is also a critical step.
I think cloth is reasonably reliable to get, kill stuff, collect bag, break down items, rack in cloth. Now, you’re no swimming in it or anything, but you can also take the $ earned while killing stuff & buy more. I don’t have much problem collecting the various cloths I need… It’s just… The quantities required…
I don’t mind time gates.
I don’t mind expensive mats (maybe a little).
What I do mind is excruciatingly excessive quantities of mats (which is exactly what is required for ascended light armor). I can make ascended medium or heavy much more easily as you’re dividing the mays necessary across 2+ item types (item types that just seen plain easier to get too & are required in smaller quantities). Light armor… It’s all cloth, minus a minute amount of leather (the cheapest one to just go out & buy).
This build seems interesting but its only going to be useful in pve as long as you can dodge. In wvw ppl are just going to get out of your wells. The runes are ok but i don’t see you staying at above 90% hp a lot. Your damage amps also don’t effect the life steals nor do they make you heal more from them.
Personaly i run this build, giving me alot of damage as well as some chessy defense.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fRAQRBHhhG1JNiUbj90glNwhjJ6FKpDhZIeneI+heAqAA-TBCBABmfQAUa/hzUCyqyPU1/AwJAQV1fo4JAEAABwQH6QH6QHakCwc9WA-e
Fortunately I can dodge
So far, the play hasn’t been terribly different than my Elementalist (except the Ele burns down multiples faster, but the Necro takes down singles faster). I run Scholar’s with the Ele, and get fairly solid use out of it. Although I do like Rune of the Pack (Power & Precison? Nice!).
The damage amps are there to deal more damage, not steal life. I know they don’t affect life steal.
I might WvW to camp clear, but I don’t generally player Vs player.
^^^
You don’t really hybridize elementalists.
I’m speaking from a PvE perspective & overall, the nice thing is that with one weapon you get 20 skills (love it)!
In general the “only” PvE build out there for elementalists is Zerker. Your weapon greatly defines how the build works. I personally prefer staff.
What’s the point in taking another warrior…?
Even if there’s a second warrior, then why are you both running phalanx wtf?
Your logic… there’s just none whatsoever. It makes no sense.
Yeah, gotta agree with Ark here. If there’s already a Phalanx Warrior, why bring another?
I dislike the Zerker setup you’re going for Juba, but if it works for you, the by all means rock that boat.
Ark, your build is very similar to mine, but I’d still like to have a thin layer of added armor, so I think I’ll run Knight’s over Zerker (armor only).
I prefer For Great Justice over the Signet for the Might stack, also that ensures a near 100% uptime on Fury. The overall setup I’m planning runs about an 80% Crit rate without accounting for food or Spotter.
I would use the Dumplings, but aren’t they lucky envelope items only? You can’t make them can you? If so, no reason to get used to them if one day they’re gone.
The build I’m going for is designed to bolster everyone else to such a degree that the DPS loss from me balances out with what there gaining. It also allows me higher survivability so if things turn south, I can play recovery & swing a bad battle by surviving.
Being as I’ve not tested the build, it may prove terribad. I’ll have to play around with it to be sure.
I like that the warrior can do some damage & bolster the party as significantly as this build allows. That appeals to me. I mean, 180 Power/Precision/Ferocity/CD plus 750 Power/CD… That’s pretty attractive…
(edited by Brokenangel.1389)
I super recommend the HyperX Cloud. Great options, braided cables, lightweight, solid peripherals, and fairly inexpensive.
If you want something more expensive, I really like the Astro A40 (my present headset). Great sound! Probably the best I’ve ever heard. But they’re very heavy & don’t have braided cords.
Yeah, good point on the horn. I overlooked that entirely.
And yeah, the +10% from Arms would be useful.
The reason I was running Soldier’s was for face tank. The build has close to constant Fury, and adding in the Banner, it runs 71% Crit Rate. I am running Zerker Accessories though.
If I drop the Soldier’s for Knight’s, the Crit increases to 81%. I don’t have a problem doing so, I just figured the ability to soak hits would be beneficial to party supprt as the damage is not terribad & it should be able to keep Might stacks up for the whole party very high all by itself.

So,
Vampiric & Vampiric Precision, Master Minor Trait & Skill V in Blood Magic.
When I was putting together a build for the Necromancer:
I couldn’t really settle on a GM skill for Curses, so I started looking around. I don’t actually care for DS all that much, despite its usefulness in terms of DPS (I tend to use it more like a shield, despite that being inefficient & I know it).
I happen to like the axe skills (quite a lot) & it has been my favorite Necro weapon.
Anyway. I saw the 20% CDR on Wells & said “that.” Especially since I plan on keeping at least 2 Wells at all times.
Long story short…
The life steal traits look pretty useful to me. Am I putting too much value in them or could they be effective in survivability?
Here’s the build:
I started fiddling around with warrior for utility & group support. This is what I came up with. And I think I dig it.
I’ve got plenty of Zerk on my life, so I thought… “Man, might be nice to actually party support while doing some damage.”
I like the war horn offhand for the buffs & condition clear, the axe for spin to win. Mostly they exist purely for the 5ish seconds of cool down of weapon swap. The greatsword is really the “damage” between the weapon sets, but it also procs might on crit, which (obviously) is a big part of the build.
I’m sure someone’s put something together like this before, so it’s not exactly news worthy, but I was wondering how the build fares in PvE as I’m planning on leveling my warrior in this direction.
Anyone have some insight?

2x Drops
17x Mystic ForgeThere’s a guildie of mine that stopped counting after pulling 60 precursors from the Mystic Forge within four months. Let me put it this way: he has pulled so many precursors he has started to hand them out to people in our guild who are on the ___t side of the RNG bell curve… that’s how frequent they pop out the MF for him. And John Smith has said RNG is a bell curve. He’s an extreme outlier. I’m not far behind him. Granted, he said he’s still about broke even as far as gold-to-precursors goes. He still hasn’t had on drop out in open world, only from the Mystic Forge.
Holy unbelievable luck Batman.
So, you and Mr. Smith?
Have you had better luck slotting 4 random yellows? Or slotting 4 same-weapon yellows? So you use Mystic Stones at all, or only yellows?
And for my own clarification, the yellows have to be level 80, yes?
Yeah…
They gave advanced notice it was a one-day sale. If you missed them, well, that’s how it goes.
Flash sales are excellent revenue generators for a game & Anet would be wise to continue them.
Also, the wings are simply an aesthetic. They’re not pay to win, they’re pay to wing.
If it annoys you that much that you’re willing to skip out on dalies & such because you missed, the equivalent of a scarf…
Bye, I guess?
And besides, absence makes the heart grow fonder. They’re comin back, it’s not like it was 24 hours & that’s all folks.
Interesting arguments presented from both sides, which is helpful to me I think.
I’ve no interest in the build’s viability in PvP, this is strictly a PvE build. So any arguments concerning PvP are moot (for my purposes).
In terms of dodging being no substitute for stealth of similar evasive skills, I totally disagree (especially since you can still take damage in stealth & some skills can still track you in stealth, so it’s not even close to a perfect defense). As my primary is an Elementalist, in used to kiting with really only dodging as my damage avoidance. So doing so as a thief, I don’t see a big difference. Plus with caltrops drop on dodge (as its presently part of the build), 50% slow for 6.5? that pretty much keeps everything at bay forever.
As far as “unsustainable” Unload vollies? Well, considering you can Unload every couple of seconds with ease thanks to traits & initiative regen (critical hit rate is about 90% with Unload), it’s more sustainable than you’d think.
If utility is needed for a run, such s Shadow Refuge or what not, it’s not like I can’t switch to it.
And as far as you can’t fire “more” the reference was that I find I’m face down less often with the build than other Theives I’ve seen runnin around. Not necessarily less so than people who are doing rotation counts & playing the game by numbers, but overall the more uptime I can get out of a build, it occurs to me the more damage you can do
I mean the term “glass cannon” implies range, I’d rather not be a sheet of wet paper in melee range of I can help it…
BP has late night coverage, which is deadly in bronze tier…
I don’t know what maps you need but from what i’ve been seeing this week BP has capped green BL and SMC a lot of times sooooo.P.S. please don’t whine about map completion, it took me 5months for me to get mine because of WvW…
Whining? I just asked a question. Nice sympathy card play there…
And many people have been helpful & I’m following the suggestions they’ve made. I’ll get the points sooner or later now that I know how it works.
I made a thread on this forum around 7 months ago showing a viable P/P
build that can compete with anything out there, wether it’s 1v1, spvp or roaming.
it’s even stronger now then it was 7 months ago with the faster unload animation.all the details are in the following link and there is also a video showing gameplay:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Guns-Blazing-A-Viable-P-P-Build-Vid/first#post4259125have fun pew pewing
I will definitely be reading your post in detail.
A quick question. Do you find the loss of the Power from Deadly Arts to be a problem? Or does the Might stacks from Stealing overcome that loss?
I generally see Zerker builds do 66xxx. Sometimes that’s bot the best, but I’m just wondering. Did you find incorporating theft (stealth & sigils in other suggested builds) works better than running full 6 DA?
You only use P/P for two reasons;
1) You can’t physically get into melee range of your target for whatever reason (i.e. target too high, fissure in between, AoE in between, etc)
2) You’re not taking GW2 seriously and you rather look cooler than be effective contributor to the task.
I personally have a 3rd reason, I hate shortbows.
With that said, the sacrifice of DPS is justified because obviously you have no other choice. Some Thief might defend shortbow but that’s not even a valid choice for me.
Lol, elitist much?
Not everything has to be razor-point Max DPS to be effective.
Versus the Thieves I’ve seen running around, the Pew Pew build as detailed above spends less time on its face & more time shooting.
Even if Stab Stab has better sustained damage, if Pew Pew has better burst… The end result might be about the same. Plus less chance of getting face rolled by bein out of melee as a berserker build.
So, maybe daggers beats pistols on overall end damage, but isn’t there an advantage to being able to easily avoid taking hits & not being downed? Certainly that counts for something.
Presently this is the build.
Initiative doesn’t seem to be an issue, despite what people say & the build is 100% PvE so burst damage doesn’t bother me. Usually a few quick shots to lead in followed by Unload ends most anything in front of me other than elites & champs. Thanks to caltrops, I’m out of range basically 24/7.
I will admit Unload blows thru Initiative like water, but unlike other Theives I’ve been around, I pretty much never drop. Very, very rarely. Perhaps it’s not as sustained, but… Survivability with Berserker is pretty high as I’ve seen so far…
most of it has been mentioned already, but here is everything i think you will need for completion:
Guide for WvW map completion
Method 1: (only for active servers)
actively follow the commander around the map as they take thingsMethod 2: (any server)
transfer to an active server and follow method 1Method 3: (most popular method for lower tier servers)
Run to objectives on reset night to get exploration quickly (before your server loses things). WvW matchup resets 1 hour and ~5 minutes after the daily reset on Friday night (currently 5:05 PM PST for NA servers)
When the matchup resets, your server has a claim over all the keeps and towers in their Borderland and the keep and 4 towers for your corner in Eternal Battlegrounds. When reset occurs go to your BL and run like crazy (bring swiftness!) to the 2 southernmost keeps (Bay and Hills) get all the POIs and vistas there. Then move north from them visiting towers, camps, and the garrison. You should have the 3 keeps and all the towers and camps north of Bay/Hills (dont worry if it takes more than 1 week). If your server still has stuff in EB, then go there and pick up your keep, 4 towers and the 2 camps on your side (will likely need more than one week for this and BL). to get the stuff in the south, you have to wait until your color is NOT the same as the BL (go to BLs that are “not your server name borderlands”)(unless you are really fast and can get to that southernmost tower before the enemy gets it). You will need 4 friends. You can activate the commander NPC (seigerazor/siegecrusher) if he is there. He will help you take the tower closest to your spawn. You can also take the 2 camps nearest to your spawn and get the south skill point/vistas.
Stonemist Castle will probably be your biggest issue if your world never takes it. The best way i can see to do it is to follow an enemy zerg into it (be careful they will see you as an easy target). Stealth is your best friend (if youre a mes or thief just equip your stealths and carefully fun around the perimiter picking up the POIs, otherwise bring a freind who can stealth you). You have to follow your enemy through the inner gate as well in order to get the skill point (this should be done after most of them leave).
Tips:
*Be patient, this is a PvP map and it might take some time to do if your server has 0 presence
*Always avoid enemies when you can. Anyone that sees you will tell their 50 “freinds” in map chat and generally try to engage you
*Stealth, speed boosts, and even invulnerability skills are very helpful
*non-peak times can also be helpful if you are against servers where people actually get some sleepGood Luck with your exploration. If you mention what server you are on, you might find someone here that will help you as well.
Thanks mate! Borlis Pass, since you asked
I’ve gotten a lot of good suggestions, already implementing them & being patient!
Cheers!
The easiest way is just waiting for your server to be the right color. The cool way is to ask your guildies to take objectives with you in the morning or late at night. 4-5 people are enough. I’m guessing your doing map completion for a legendary, and I doubt you have enough gold, so don’t be obsessed with this map completion and do your grinding. Your Gift of Exploration will be yours in time.
Actually I’m totally doing it just because 98% is annoying…
Please will a mod make a sticky about WvW Map Completion, it’s worse than necro posts!
If you want Map Completion in WvW then do some WvW, it’s that simple!
Obvious statement is obvious.
I didn’t ask that, I asked for some tips on how to do it. Which some people have responded on flying colors.
So,
I see S/D & D/D touted all over the place for Theives.
But never P/P.
In playing it, the damage seemed to be there & with the right traits & utilities it’s been working pretty well, as far as I can tell.
I’m sure D/D has overall highe Dps when you number crunch, but why is P/P generally considered bad for PvE?
Cheers,
B
Hey thanks!
I’ll get what I can until Friday & hope for a color switch on the Friday reset.
Cheers,

So, after getting ohhhh, about 97% map completion…
I realized that the remainder of my points were in the WvW maps.
And then I went to WvW to start collecting (I’m not much for PvP). Thus, my surprise when I saw the points behind sealed castle doors…
Any tips on how to get that last 2-3%?
Cheers,
B
