I wish we knew, whether they are even trying or considering to restore the old aesthetic somehow or if they are just looking at the other fails involving this outfit.
I don’t really care that much for my gems or disappearing feet … but I’m still kind of heartbroken about losing my perfect new look.
Nope, you don’t quite get how this build works as a playstyle. I can’t blame you. It’s a bit outside of how ele build usually work, so it’s hard to imagine just from looking at the build. And not trying to be smug, but : It’s quite skill-based, so some people just might not be able to pull it off…
Wish I could post a video, but I don’t have a YT account and creating one turned out to be all kinds of dumb… Someone know a good alternative?
Anyway, I will try to explain some more, as this build doesn’t feel squishy at all if you play it well.
Okay this is how it works:
You engage with burning speed ( + LF maybe ) and switch into water for frozen burst. Immediately into air to proc the attunement zap and start lightning whipping them into submission. Okay, maybe they try to fight back at this point.
Now your lightning whip does have a range of 300 which is a pretty important fact, as you can easily dance in and out of this range as needed while negating / avoiding anything your enemy can do to you. I’ll explain that in a bit…
( If I would random dodge in my firefields like your normal ele, that would be dangerous indeed )
So for damage you use burning speed when it’s up, lightning whip while circling around the enemy and switching attunements as often as possible. The switch to lightning can crit over 1700 damage even without full might stacks. At basically no cooldown, at range and pretty much unavoidable! That adds up.
You easily proc Fresh Air with Frozen Burst and Ring of Earth ( which can crit really high too btw ). Perhaps my biggest argument for why scepter is the inferior Fresh Air weapon: Try proccing FA just as fast with those slowwww scepter skills…
Okay, now how do we survive? Aka: How do we keep the enemy from hitting us?
For melees : Just walk out of their range. Yep.
Look at the build : You got 10 seconds of chill that you can throw onto them. You proc 3 seconds of cripple when switching into earth and Ring of Earth will cripple even more. They want to lock you down? Too bad, you have a stunbreak and instant on demand blind on a 20sec CD. Also Geomancers training reduces any movement impairing condis on you. Let’s not forget you are faster than anyone baseline: 25% movement speed at all times + lots of superspeed.
I shouldn’t have to mention this, but you can also pop LF, FGS to get away or into LoS. Or you just run. Fast.
So for more damage mitigation, we also have 2 skills for projectile destroying, not even counting RoE. Earth ofhand skills are also on a lower CD, because earth line offers no sustain just like that…
Aaaand you actually got a heal on 20s CD which you can safely use while covering yourself with your defensive cooldown or superspeeding around a corner for a moment.
Thats all I care for to write for now.
If you give it a try: Thank you and you are welcome.
If you try and fail: Don’t feel bad. It takes some skill…
Okay, this version might be much better:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-o3c;2B2-V0D5gNkY0;9;43G1;0147158057;4Sw0;3H7W3H7W3a0D
Definately more vulnerable to condition bombs, but a huge boost to damage.
Just hitting golem in HotM I see the lightning attunement zap hit for 1,6k and lightning whips averaging between 1,4 and 1,5.
I’ve had this idea for a mechanic:
If you hit an enemy from the back or the side while your endurance is not full, enemy fields can not apply damage or conditions to you for 2s (ICD 2s).
I guess you could also attach it to Flanking Strike to make it more Acro/SD flavored, but maybe it would be too specific then…
The mobility is a big deal though!
Let me illustrate: There is absolutely no reason a current meta warrior should hit you with anything while using this build! Maybe they can charge you from behind with GS or rampage and hit you once, but that’s it. Everything else you can easily dance around, while throwing your stuff at them. Air signet makes them look pathetic when they try to hammer you.
It makes a big difference against thieves and mesmer, too: They are not used to enemies ( besides thieves ) that can stick close and put the pressure on them.
I’m not really sure water line is doing you much, certainly cleansing water only procs on cantrips (average 1 every 20-30s) and the frost aura trait (which is made for tanky builds that take a beating), and cantrip mastery is only reducing the CD on 2 skills and 1 trait.
You would get as much cleanse from fire, more defense (from blinds), and more damage.
Even arcana without water would do you more, giving you a free arcane shield and either evasive arcana (for cleanse and blind) or bountiful power (so those boons do you some good).
Good feedback. But you didn’t consider the vigor from the cantrips and that shorter CD on lightning flash helps you get in and out of fights a lot. Also you forgot about Earths Embrace proccing on 50%. Thats another cantrip.
Since you go in and out of fights with this build all the time, I feel the uptime of the frost aura is decent enough and helps getting out of harms way. Stop, Drop and Roll is a good option with all the vigor and energy, too.
I feel taking fire would require you to camp fire attunement a bit too much to make it worth it…
Arcane is okay and Bountiful power might be cool. I will try that.
lol WORSE build ever OP.. come on man. stop trolling
I will remind you of that comment once Phantaram starts playing something similar on stream. Basically I was trying to recreate his d/f FA build that he played a couple months ago.
It’s a different playstyle. It’s closer to SD thief than to DD ele, if that tells you something…
I’d say it requires way too much skill to be considered OP, so we should be safe.
Stunbreak and blind on 20 second CD + you keep the runspeed in the other attunements as well.
Written in stone also allows you to use your heal.
Diamond skin and stone heart don’t make much sense since you don’t want to tank many hits anyway – you avoid them by good positioning with your superior mobility and using your defensive cooldowns at the right moments.
So much fun!
Actually way better than pre-specialization patch.
What?
…no, of course not with scepter… Scepter is bad.
What?
Evasive Arcana? Why would you want that? Useless trait.
This is how you are supposed to run it:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-o3c;2B2-V0z4gNkY0;9;4321;0147036057;4Iw0;3F-03F-03a0k
High damage and high survivability ( if you know how to play ) at HIGH SPEED !
The superspeed is a huge deal here and zapping the enemy for around 1k each time you go into air is pretty nice, too.
Once they tasted your lightning whip you can see mesmers and thieves sweating from fear when you come running at full speed towards them! Hilarious!
It’s not even normal skill lag for me…
Today I did the daily golem and there were tons of people around.
It felt like the game randomly decided that a certain skill would become totally unresponsive. One minute I could use my autoattack and heal normally, while I could hammer my weaponskill 5 without getting any reaction at all. The next minute it would be the other way around or a totally different skill.
It’s pretty weird…
Totally agree with the OP.
Whatever you guys say, this rune makes high-end PvP really lame to watch.
Everyone gets a second life basically, which is why pretty much every class is using it right now. Thieves can survive the focus of the entire enemy team guaranteed, by just thowing up a shadow refugee and turning into invulnerable+invisible mist. Super lame.
I wouldn’t mind if it would be simply removed, but maybe a compromise would be to change the stats from power to healing power to make it a bit less appealing to the glass cannons. The 3 and 6 boni would also make sense for a healer rune.
Arena Net Programming Team:
Gary: How do I adjust this mesh so that it doesn’t make the legs disappear?
Kole: Just drag the object upwards.
Gary: Like this?
Kole: Ya, looks good, you can see the thighs now. No need to spend any more time looking at the image.
Gary: By dragging the object upwards, it looks like the feet went missing…
Kole: I said NO NEED TO SPEND MORE TIME! Send the updated models out. NOW!
Gary: Yes Sir. Wow, what an honor to work here.Edit: All characters in this are fictional, and hopefully not based on real life.
Next up:
Gary: Do you remember how we just made this thing bigger because making it fit to different bodies was TOO HARD for us?
Kole: Yeah?
Gary: Well, turns out legs and feet are really annoying and would be a bit of work. How about we make the skirt so big it covers the feet?
Kole: Perfect! No one would notice, right? And even if they did … not our problem, right??
Gary: Lol, yeah!
Biggest issue is obviously that you can’t seem to get the monk outfit right …
Yup, and I want it tight fit again!
Do a proper job please!
Also, I’ve heard it’s almost the game’s 3rd anniversary. Sounds like a really, REALLY nice time to add certain bunny paraphernalia to the Gem Store, huh? Huh?
Yes, someone reminded me that there was always a week of special gemstores sales around the birthday where some old items made a return.
Now I’m carefully optimistic that this HAS to be the moment the bunnyears will appear again! If they don’t … all hope is truly lost…
Vampirism needs to just be made unusable in sPvP.
If you watch the high-end tournaments, it’s absolutely ridiculous how many different classes run that rune and how some of them ( mesmers, thieves ) basically become almost unkillable that way. Just lame…
Maybe the gemstores current task is properly fixing the monks outfit or else they all will be fired….
Wishful thinking on my part.
You remember the bikini and schoolgirl outfit that existed long ago but only as an itemcode?
I always thought they would make great birthday gifts, as they could really motivate players to stick with the game. Like: “Just 7 more months until my cutest character can wear a bikini! Going to be awweesoome!”
The very best thing would be a chest that would let you choose from several different “fun” outfits.
Uh-huh.
Taking away your same old boring gameplay that hasn’t changed for months for a few days clearly is the same as a slap in the face or a gun in the hands of a kid or … what was that about cars? ( sheesh…)
LOL riiiight…
If WvW is the only thing giving your life meaning, you might have a bigger problem than a golem event…
If you don’t like it do something else and stop wallowing in your negativity!
Get real kids…
If you would have watched yesterdays POI, you would have learned that this event was singlehandedly made by Grouch aka Josh Davis, who is normally part of the marketing team.
There were absolutely no “ressources” used that could have gone into WvW, HoT or really any other part of the game.
Golem rush obviously isn’t supposed to be a serious patch for WvW ( duh…), it’s just a fun event – a gift for the players really!
If you don’t like it – fine. But seeing people acting so self-important and ungrateful about this is really sort of … disgusting.
You guys complain that Anet doesn’t listen to you? If this is how you react to a well intended gift, I wouldn’t want to do anything for you either….
I just hope that Josh sees some of the “whiteknights”.
Can’t keep us down! Row Row Fight da Powah!
Maaaaaybe….
http://wiki-en.guildwars2.com/wiki/Help_Bjarni_honor_the_Spirit_of_Hare
…this heart will turn into an adventure and you get a pair of bunnyears for making the top of the daily leaderboards?
Yes? Yes? Maybe? …Yes?
Still no news on this?
I honestly don’t expect any.
Small hope for next patchday.
After that … yeah, we probably won’t get any reaction at all …
Most fun engi build I’ve ever played !!!
I run it like this :
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-ZRR;2Z-Vv0u5gTkw0;9;4lmj;0056136238;4Ew0;35NV05NV02C
Very input heavy and fast paced gameplay, but you can pull off some crazy plays with this – both offensively and defensively.
Engage from stealth – put on 10+ burn stacks – knockback into moa = fried chicken
Survivability can be really high if you play it clever. Only real danger is getting huge condi spike, but this is pretty normal for engi…
To be fair the clipping was really huge and noticable on the “curvier” body types, so there is no point downplaying it here…
The question is, how could it be released like this? The fact that GW2 characters come in different forms and sizes is nothing new…
I still haven’t put in my ticket for a refund. I know I should, but I would much rather have my perfect looking outfit back!
I’m free!
Thanks for the relatively quick rescue!
Me too. Bailout please …
And can we stop with this bug already?
Ultimately, Anet should just work on (and tell us they are working on) fixing the clipping issues while restoring the outfit to its original look.
Yup! Gaile was super awesome and replied to my Reddit thread saying she sent out a memo. But that isn’t the same as her saying, last week, that a fix was imminent. And, honestly, I don’t expect a fix to come any time soon (as I mentioned earlier in the thread). With how much pressure they’re under, I cannot imagine them visiting this outfit again any time soon to correctly fix it — I wouldn’t say that it’s necessarily unreasonable to expect them to fix it soon, but I understand they have far bigger things on their plate at the moment than one outfit that they have already patched.
I’m pretty sure the people developing the gemstore stuff aren’t the same that are working on HoT. Even if they would be : If they have time to code all kinds of wings they should also manage to make sure that their outfits get released in an acceptable state. I won’t let that excuse count…
I’m probably stupid, but I haven’t send my ticket for a refund yet, because I have a small hope that they will react to our “input”.
I’m definately stupid, because I let a post from Gaile get my hopes up before ( in the bunnyears topic ) and I am still waiting here months later with nothing to show for it…
Maybe it’s just time to give up on the gemstore alltogether. It seems pretty obvious that they simply don’t care beyond quickly throwing out stuff and hoping that enough cash comes back.
PS: Just to make sure that noone gets it wrong: I’m not blaming Gaile or her admirable work for the community! I’m unhappy about the decisions of whoever is responsible for the gemstore releases.
(edited by Cerpin.9152)
So, you can take my gems for the monk outift and then patch it to look ugly? Nice one.
You also want to give every huge and bulky norn/charr a cute pair of butterfly wings? Sounds great, but why no bunnyears again…?
Good stuff gemstore team, good stuff…
I’m pretty glad I decided against the Ultimate right now.
Was really loving it before. Not every character could wear it because of the clipping, but it looked soooo good on my thief!
Now it is ruined …
Just keep it going, guys.
Maybe on page 20 we will be able to celebrate and post screenshots of our new bunnyears…
No problem.
Maybe I was unlucky and did only see the much less optimal builds posted.
Maybe between my first post and today everyone came to the same conclusions, which now seem obvious…
The reason I got excited and kind of proud, was that everything in this build is working together so nicely ( the blocks, the blinds ; as I said – 100% synergy ).
I don’t care about taking credit or anything, but I just haven’t seen any build this … lets say “well rounded”.
Haha, atleast I got some attention now!
I didn’t really mean to come across as condescending, but to call it a"standard condi build these days" doesn’t seem fair to me…
Ofcourse the traits are pretty much the same, but please point me to where someone used the same heal/utitility setup. The mirror adds a lot of survivability to this build.
Then there is Signet of Midnight, which benefits the build in pretty much every situation (even passively).
Most people run Mistrust and Staff, which will never be on par with the shatter potential of scepter and DE ( big difference in damage ) !
I don’t want to get loads of praise or get my ego stroked.
But I think I had some good ideas that most people were not aware of…
You might just not be able to see the aura effect on other people if there is a certain amount of spell effects on the screen. That had me thinking my fire auras didn’t apply, but I asked and my friends confirmed they got it.
Is this about PvP? If so, I’ve found this: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-wFwo;1NKFO0d4gLkQ0;9;4efh;0157037158;4Uo07T;1F-03F-030P
(I haven’t decided on what runes to use right now, btw, Pack due to fury and high stats for now).
I took your build and modified it like this:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-wFwo;1NKVO0d4gL-60;9;4efh;0157037158;4K-m6T;1fgm9fgm90y
Reaching 20+ bleed stacks is ridiculously easy and quick. You can get slightly over 30 if things go perfectly!
That, pretty much guaranteed crits and good survivability – lots of fun !
Maybe I shouldn’t have been so humble in my first post…
After getting a bit more practice with it and pretty much dominating a lot of matches, I can confidently say that it works really well.
I simply don’t die with this build. And if I shatter quickly enough the damage doesn’t feel like “slow” condition damage either…
I’ve had quite a few thieves, med guards and power shatter mesmers open up aggressively onto me blowing their cooldowns, only to go down miserably around 15 seconds later.
It’s a pretty mesmery playstyle I feel: The enemy thinks they got you on the defense and while they fail to kill you ( blinds/blocks/evades/interrupt ) they don’t realize that the conditions are wearing them down.
Anyway, I would be happy to get some kind of feedback or critisism.
Frankly, while it has a bit of a different approach, I feel that my build is more well thought out than most other builds I see posted…
For example, everyone picks Blinding Dissipation, but compared to how much it shines in my build, it seems almost random everywhere else.
I think my version should have a little more damage and a lot more survivability…
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/sPvP-Build-Chaos-Brawler/first#post5205399
You should include your utilities ( some mantras and sigils I assume ) and whether this is for PvE or WvW.
My feeling is that you aren’t commiting enough traits to conditions to be worth it.
You should either go for phantasms or condition. They don’t mix all that well…
Sadly both Malicious Sorcery and Duelists Discipline seem to be bugged at the moment.
You could give my build a try:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/mesmer/sPvP-Build-Chaos-Brawler/first#post5205399
No PU and pretty different from what other people are running, but I’m doing really well with it in sPvP.
For WvW you would definately need Traveler Runes, but I guess PU is king in that gamemode anyway…
Hi fellow Mesmers!
I’m not claiming its going to be meta or anything, but I wanted to share my build, because it has A TON of synergies ( its actually 100% synergetic or something) and I had both fun and success with it.
If you are not ready to give up on condis and you want something that can actually survive in this crazy pvp world we live in right now – while also dealing respectable damage – please take a look:
http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-R3SFk;0kUV11;0wW-71;9;4TUW;0238246256;4hsGAT;1hoHAhoHA2t
Second utility is supposed to be Arcane Thievery, but that calculator doesn’t seem to have it…
Strengths :
High Survivability through Blind spam, 2 stunbreaks, blocks/evades, nice boons, condition cleanse/transfer, stealth and
Lots of access to Mirror ( with 4 seconds of it covering your 12s CD heal! )
Decent damage via easy application of a variety of conditions
Weaknesses :
Low mobility outside of Blink
Things to consider / Variants :
The build turns out to be more of a dueling build… its team support and utility mostly consist of MassInvis…
If you take your conquesting seriously, you should probably swap Arcane Thievery or Signet of Midnight for Portal ( which benefits from Manipulation traits ).
You might also try Traveler Runes, but I feel the lower condi damage is noticeable…
Runes of the Undead provide more upfront condition damage ( >1700!) and some more toughness.
I choose Nightmare because the fear helps getting a good opening in 1v1s, which is pretty important on this build.
Mirror from Mass Invis can break stealth.
Build would be a lot stronger, if MtD didn’t get nerfed and bleed from pistol would still work…
Gameplay :
Open on scepter/pistol with pistol skills from range, then close in and quickly produce clones to start the shattering. Shatter often and don’t be scared to play aggressively in close range. Use your #2 weaponskills to block/evade and blind and confuse.
When under pressure swap to sword/torch and use blurred frenzy or go into stealth.
You can use your heal pretty early in the fight and get some nice use out of the reflects. You can even use it to open on LB rangers, engis or warriors!
Use Signet of Midnight as a stunbreak or to secure stomps.
That’s it!
As I said, I don’t expect to see this build in tournaments or something, but I hope some of you give it a try and find it to be fun.
Now since they have addressed the community issue about HoT pre-purchasing (yes thank you anet), can we also have a head up about the bunny ear please?
Yeah, can someone please make a reddit thread about bunny ears and calculate how much money Anet is missing out on from the upvotes?
Apparently thats a good strategy to get what you want from Anet…
If bunny ears would be confirmed, I would consider buying the Ultimate Edition …
Without them? Nope.
What use are gems, if you can’t buy what you really want…?
Which most likely means that WTS will be affected.
Going to be interesting…
Yeah, I’m mostly glad to finally know the day of the patch!
Thanks Grouch for posting that in chat!!!
It was pretty frustrating not knowing wether to expect all this stuff in a week or 3 months…
Yeah, it must have been a lot of work creating the new outfit and weapons …. * sigh *
Okay, how about we get the bunnyears next update?
To celebrate the rebuilding of LA!
That’s a happy occasion, isn’t it??!
I don’t normally post on the forum but I have been keeping an eye on this thread regularly for more than 3 months now. Considering there are tens of thousand viewers interested in this thread, the lack of communication on the anet side is both frustrating and disappointing. The bunny ear, if it never got released, would certainly be not an issue here. What makes people or me at least got upset is that according to the GW2 wiki, the last bunny ear sale date was on 17th Dec 2013 while the wardrobe system which dramatically improves the appeal of bunny ear released in April 2014 (it’s now a skin rather than a mere town cloth for those who have no idea on what I am talking about). Simply put, it is unreasonable for players to foresee the release of wardrobe system. Until now, there is still no way to acquire bunny ear after the immediate release of the wardrobe system as players can not go back in time.
This is a good summary of the issue for people coming into this thread that don’t want to read the whole thing.
You shouldn’t feel bad about Anet folks using the bunny ears though:
1. Chances are high they got nothing to do with the gemstore stuff
2. Whether they use the tag or not, they still play the game privately like you and me and if they got the bunnyears back then, they are lucky and can use them. I would be angry if they created a post-wardrobe version exclusively for themselves, but I’m sure thats not the case…
I still believe the only reason the bunnyears aren’t back yet, has to be a lack of initiative on Anets part. Someone needs to get the ball rolling…
The way I imagine it should go:
(enter dreamland)
Random Anet employee: “Hey guys! Don’t worry, I will take care of this bunnyear business! I will use ten minutes of my break to do this and from the extra money we make, we will buy pizza for everyone!!!”
Rest of Anet:“Yaaaay!!!”
And then we get bunnyears, the guys at Anet eat pizza every day, random anet employee gets a raise and buys horses for the kids, the expansion is a great success and everyone is happy!
(THE END)
Or something like that…
Come on, Anet! Don’t you have interns or something? Show the janitor how to do it?
It can’t be that hard.
Awwwww!
As much as I like Leeto ( been watching him a lot lately ), I could see that coming…
Or rather, I was surprised that he could misuse the report function that much without any consequences.
Still, I will throw in my vote for the “FREE LEETO” cause !!!
It’s obvious that the bunnyears would have to come back in a different “version” than the old townclothes one … Duuh, we know that!
Still the skin exists in game right now. The new version from the gemstore would have to split up into 3 skins ( one for every armor class). Takes some extra coding, sure, but it’s nothing they haven’t done before.
You really don’t need to act like it’s so unrealistic to ask for that.
If you don’t think they will come back anyway, what is it to you??!
You should be the one moving on…
Yup, I like seeing this big old thread with the red icon bumped, as I feel it is an effective way of saying “Hey, we really, really, really want this!!” and bringing some attention to it.
If you feel it is pointless/hopeless and get annoyed by it, please simply ignore it!
Plus : Like I said earlier, the main reason I can’t let this go, is that the situation seems kind of absurd…
Seriously, I find it hard to believe that bringing this tiny already existing item back into the game will take that much time/effort/work ressources, that it won’t be worth the pretty much guaranteed income from the sales.
It might not be a priority right now, but it seems unreasonable to deny us this little wish and it won’t hurt them to atleast acknowledge it somehow, especially since the last response was so seemingly inconsequential / open ended…
Bringing back the bunnyears to the shop should be a lot easier than integrating the tribal armor in some kind of pvp reward structure though…
I definately would like to see a new response of Gaile in this thread. Even if its negative or the usual “maybe in the future” …
