Mesmers are extremely survivable in full on zerg battles. I rush into the middle of the fray and die amazingly little.
Just download and install the latest driver packages for your mobo from the Asus website.
You don’t need to uninstall the Microsoft drivers for this to work.
I can’t believe this isn’t bannable or that we have to put up with this in WvW.
He posted a Youtube video of himself using a 3rd party program in the game. Why isn’t he banned yet, ANET?

Don’t feel bad. FPS performance is bad in this game across the board. Just browse these forums and you will see over 9000 posts about poor FPS.
Even on my FX8320@4.8Ghz with Dual 6970s in Crossfire, I get around 16-18FPS @ Jormag and in WvW Zerg battles.
Win 8 and GW2 work just fine together and your FPS look about right for the hardware.
GT620 is pretty low end, so I’m not sure what you expected.
Note: It is not possible that your friend is running better than you. I have an i7 with a GT 330 and have to play with everything on Low or Medium to get even in the mid 20s for FPS.

My primary guild only has Guild Bounty unlocked and we are struggling to unlock the rest.
I’m in another guild that not only has unlocked everything, but also completed every type of guild mission.
It is only “Gated” for the small guilds. Something needs to be done.

Just did 50 Salvages with BL Salvage Kits, and got 60 Ectos.
The Mystic Coins actually takes money out of the economy and counter inflation.
Every Mystic Coins that is sold on the TP takes money out of the economy since they are purchased an subsequently destroyed in the MF. Therefore, the Inflationary effects of the the 5s reward are countered by the Mystic Coin reward.
I have 2×6970s in Crossfire and I really can’t tell much of a difference. My Max FPS are a little higher running Crossfire (Nowhere near double), but my Minimum FPS is about the same either way (16-18 FPS during Jormag).

Yeah the GTX 660Ti does use significantly less power than the GTX 275 so chances are your PSU is ok, but don’t rule anything out.
Install Heaven Benchmark and run it for a while, an hour or so should be fine. It will put 100% load on your video card and draw max power. If something is wrong, then it will likely crash. If not, then your video hardware and psu are probably fine.
Install HWMonitor and note your GPU temps. Around 70C for GPU temp under 100% load is normal for this card.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
Did you update drivers to the latest version?
How are the GPU temps under load?
It is possible your power supply might not be up to snuff or could be going bad.
As a general rule of thumb, always go with the fastest single GPU you can afford. Then, later, you can get a 2nd card to run Crossfire or SLI.
I run Crossfire just fine with 2×6970s. However, GW2 does not benefit that much from running in Crossfire.
First, give us some detailed hardware specs on your system to help us troubleshoot your issue.. CPU (Speed, Overclock), Motherboard, Memory (Brand, Speed, Timings), PSU (Make, Model), Video Hardware (Make, Model, Speed), Catalyst Driver Version.
For starters, here are some things to do.
If you have any overclocks (CPU, Memory, Video Cards), return them to stock settings for testing purposes.
Download and install the latest Catalyst Drivers v13.1 from AMD and install. Reboot and then make sure that Crossfire is enabled in the Catalyst Control Center.
Make sure nothing is running on your system at Startup. Run msconfig from the command line and disable everything from loading at startup. Later, you can go back and re-enable these things.
Install Heaven Benchmark (First hit on Google) and run for an hour or so. This should push both video cards to near 100% GPU usage and max pull on your power supply. If experience no issues during Heaven, then the problem is most likely not with your video cards or power supply. If you do have problems, then the opposite is true.
I should have thought of this. Setting up a VPN service and naming it Battleping in order to sell it to gamers. Brilliant!
Battleping (VPN) might work for you. I have a Verizon FIOS Quantum business acount 75/35 with 5 static IPs and run my own VPN server. Playing GW2 on 3G/4G Networks with my tethered iPhone 5, I get more stable pings and much less frequent disconnects when I’m connected to my VPN server than when I’m not.

And they still haven’t fixed the BROKEN Givers Armour +Boon Duration.
I’ve played a Mesmer since launch and I’ve tried out a confusion build and here is what I found.
The good players know how to deal with it and the bad players don’t.
I have 5 other 80s and know how to deal with it on all of them. I’ll give one example.
My Shout Warrior: 5 Condition Removals in my build. Warhorn: 2 x AoE Convert Conditions to Boons; Shout + Soldier Rune: 3x AoE Heals/Condition Removals. I remove conditions from my teammates whenever I see them.
If IoJ and DR had more coverage, this matchup would be perfect.
Server looking for Kiwis and Aussies! PST! Have cupcakes!
(Kiwis and Aussies go well together, right? They both have those sexy Austrian accents, and they both get to see those Alpine Kangaroos…)
You do realize that “Gamers World [Kiwi]” is an exclusively Korean guild right? Don’t worry, the guild tag confuses a lot of people.
BTW I’m happy with the performance I get out of my 2012 MacBook Pro, non retina display. I upgraded mine to 16GB Corsair RAM and replaced the 750GB Hard Drive with a 480GB Vertex 3 SSD (Uber expensive :/ but worth it). I triple boot OS X, Win 7, and Ubuntu using the 3rd party Refit bootloader. The nVidia GTX650, while not top of the line, plays GW2 without any issues on medium settings in Windows 7.

I haven’t bought a laptop in eons and know nothing about Mac/PC or whatever .. I am just in total shock that a laptop that costs $1800 has any question of performance. Why does it cost so much if it performs so poorly? Sorry, I’m just … wow :/
You are paying for the service and quality. I’ve owned 4 MacBook Pros since 2006 and have been happy with all of them. Tech support at the Apple Store is 100% free for the life of any of their products. If you do need a repair, it is done in while you wait if possible and depot repairs have a 1-2 day turn around. On my first MacBook Pro, I had the Optical Drive replaced at the Apple store and they did it while I waited. On my 2nd MacBook Pro, I needed the screen replaced due to light bleeding issues. I took it in on Monday afternoon and had it back by Wed morning. They had Fed-Ex overnighted it to their depot, replaced the screen, and then immediately Fed-Ex overnighted it back to me. I didn’t have to pay a dime since it was covered under apple care. The power brick stopped working, due to unintended abuse on my part, on my 3rd MacBook Pro and they just handed me a new one, free. I was in and out of the Apple Store in 5 minutes. I bought a 24" iMac for my Mother back in 2008, it completely died just a few days after the 3 year Apple Care Warranty expired. I took it to the Apple Store anyways to see what they would tell me. Since I had not made any Apple Care Claims on the device in the 3 years my mother owned it, and since it was only a few days or so out of Warranty, they went ahead and gave me a brand new iMac for free. All I had to do was buy an Apple Care plan for the new unit. Tell me what other company would have done this for the customer.
This is why you pay a premium.
“And like the 15-inch model, the RAM is surface-mount soldered to the logic board, meaning no upgrades are possible. Apple does not offer any more than 8 gigabytes of RAM on the new 13-inch MacBook Pro.”
This is why I went with the Non Retina 15" model.
Watch this. It will give you an idea of the performance running the game with Intel HD4000 Graphics and 720p Resolution. As you know, the 720p is much lower than the native resolution of the Retina MacBook Pro. I have a 15" MacBook Pro with discrete graphics and I boot into Win7 to play the game. I tried to use the OS X Client and the frames rates are about 5-10% lower than in Windows, so keep that in mind.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
I would definitely go for the discrete graphics card if I had the choice but you only have $1800 so the 15" retina is not an option. Also, you can’t get the 13" retina with 16GB, only 8GB. Another thing to note, you CANNOT without voiding AppleCare upgrade the ram or solid state storage yourself on any of the retina models.
If I were you, I would get the non retina 15" MacBook Pro and with the fastest CPU I could afford and the smallest Hard Drive and Memory configuration, then upgrade after market at a much lower price.
I wouldn’t expect a fix this patch. They still haven’t even fixed all the broken +Boon Duration gear that they introduced back in Dec’s patch.
Sounds like a great setup. You will be able to likely hit 4.0 or 4.2 on stock voltages. After that, minor bumps each step up to 4.5 or 4.6. Going from 4.6 to 4.8 required a big bump from 1.41 to over 1.46 (1.48 under load using Ultra High LLC) for a stable OC and the temps are in the upper 50s under P95. You will want to stop when temps reach the upper 50s (58 or so). Things start to get unstable pretty quick when you cross 60 with these CPUs.
In general, software running on the computer doesn’t cause blue screens. Blue screens are caused by problems at the hardware level by either problems with the physical hardware or by the hardware drivers themselves.
1) Your video card should be your primary focus. Temps are well within norms. Could be an unstable overclock, bad video ram, or even power issues. Set all GPU and Memory clocks to reference specifications and test the video card. I use Heaven Benchmark to test my video card stability. Temps into the mid 80s are not unusual under a full load.
2)If your CPU and/or Memory are overclocked, return those to default settings. Test your CPU stability with Prime95 and Memtest for your memory. Make sure there are no issues there.
3) Check your power supply voltages. You can get inexpensive power supply testers on Newegg, Amazon, or whereever. PSUs do start to go bad despite how big, powerful, or expensive they are. If your video card isn’t getting enough juice from the power supply, you need to know.
For a new computer you are looking at faster, high capacity ram than was is in your current computer.
It is common for new computers to have DDR3-1333, DDR3-1600 or faster ram which is much faster than is what is in your old computer.
I would need your current system specifications in order to provide detailed input on what your system supports, but you may be able to replace the current CPU with another, faster Socket 775 Intel CPU. However, it is a very old (by technology standards), obsolete platform and any upgrade probably will not garner much performance increase in GW2 and certainly will not come close to an i5 in performance.
If you want an i5-2500K, you are really looking at a whole new computer. You may be able to salvage some of your current system components but honestly it would probably be better to get all new hardware.
First my system specs:
Asus Sabertooth 990FX
AMD FX-8320 @ 4.8Ghz 1.46v UltraHigh LLC (12 Hours Prime95 Stable/Watercooled)
Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 9-10-10-27-1T 1.55v
2×6970OC Crossfire
Thoughts:
The Sabertooth is probably the best board for people that like to tweak and overclock their systems. It is as good a board as an Asus Crosshair V.
GW2 and every other game for that matter runs on max settings @ 1920×1200.
Frame rates are normally at or near 60FPS (VSync On). The only times is drops down to say 40-45FPS is during big battles in WvW or similar. Crossfire doesn’t really do much for this game, minimal performance increase. Great for many other games and benchmarking, just not GW2.
You have a great computer if you like to tweak and overclock. Have fun and good luck!
(edited by Chobits.2430)
You are correct, that i5 upgrade is not compatible with your computer.
At the very least you would need a new motherboard with a Socket 1155.
What kind of ports does GW2 needs to be open?

Guild Wars 2 requires TCP ports 80, 443, 6112 and port 6600 be fully unrestricted and accessible, both inbound and outbound.
I participated in the entire 3 day event as well and barely got any drops, but I wasn’t grouped. My guildies who were in groups of 5 on other overflows, got tons of loot.
If I’m farming Plix solo, I barely get any drops. If I’m in a group of 5, my bags are usually completely full after a single Plix chain.
In WvW, I got much fewer badges solo than when I’m in a group.
Several guild members got exotics out of the chests, but never more than 1 per chest. One particular person got 3 exotics over about 10 runs. I wasn’t so lucky as all I received was greens.
