I’ve changed gear to Minstrel, Wayfarer, and Viper in the MF without issue. Maybe they left one off the MF menu. Anyone else besides OP try out Trailblazer?
I believe that the more events you complete, the more Airship Cargo spawn. When you reach a high tier, they are literally start tripping over them. When they spawn, after an event, there are pings on the map.
Get to T4 and you will have more than enough littering the landscape fill your pack.

You just need to get in a good event map. During the day yesterday we hit max day/night on a couple maps everyone got their bladed chest box. I guess there is a bit of luck involved in ending up in a good map.
Why the hell is Revenant and Herald the only professions in the game that do not have any Superior Runes? Come on Anet get on this.
There is a rune of the herald. You buy the recipe from the laurel vendor.
The Superior rune of the Revenant is required to craft the Superior Rune of the Herald. Since there are not Revenant runes, then there are no Herald Runes.
Why the hell is Revenant and Herald the only professions in the game that do not have any Superior Runes? Come on Anet get on this.
Anyone figured anything out about Rune of the Revenant yet?
I can’t say where specifically but I recall seeing rune recipies on one of the mastery vendors.
You’ll have to go to them and see.
I guess it is possible that it could be on one of the Pact Mastery Vendors in Tyria.
I heard that it comes from the Laurel Vendors, but nobody has been able to clarify it.
I can clarify. The Laurel vendor has the Recipe for Superior Rune of the Herald but not the Recipe for Superior Rune of the Revenant. The latter is a component in crafting the Herald Rune.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
I checked Itzel, Nuoch, Exalted, and Post Mordy Mouth vendors for a Recipe for Superior Rune of the Revenant and turned up nothing.
ANet kinda put the cart before the horse on this one.
How do you get these?
I’m crafting a Wanderer Set and Herald Runes. Revenant runes are a crafting mat for Herald Runes.
I demand an end to non-soloable “Hero Challenges” and Arena Net immediately rename them to “Cowardly Solutions”!
I’m positive this is an oversight.
Post it in the bug forum where someone will actually look at it.
Story Chapter 16.
In the final fight, the rifts keep opening off of the platform where they cannot be reached.
I tried this fight 6 times before giving up in frustration.
Please fix this bug soon. I would really love to be able to complete the story.
You will get 1 Bonus chest weekly, but you can run the raid as many times as you like with no limits.
LOL @ People who think 200 Ranks is not achievable. This is like one weekend with a birthday booster.
Yeah, one weekend where you play for 72 hours straight.
I earned 60 ranks in 12 hours of WvW last weekend using a booster. At that same rate, I could have hit 200 in 42 hours using boosters.

Players that fly through content are a very small percentage of the player base and should not be the ones that Anet caters to. Those players race through games as fast as possible, check it off their list, and move onto the next game. They rarely contribute to the community, don’t take the time to enjoy the content, and definitely don’t contribute to ANet’s bottoms line in the gem shop.
I think there is plenty of content for the 95% of the players that are casual to keep them busy for quite some time. Additionally, we are going to get content updates every few weeks with living story, a new raid wing every few weeks, quarterly balance updates, probably 4 new maps added as the living story progresses, and the expansion grande finale of fighting/defeating Mordremoth.
There is a lot of content to look forward to and regular content updates to keep the 95% happy.
Anet stated that they will release new Legendaries as the story progresses. Each Legendaries will be part of the story so it becomes part of the game lore. Given that Anet has released story content updates fairly regularly, I would expect a new weapon every month at least.

I think the way they did it is great! I would rather have to work for something and have a feeling of accomplishment. Also, I don’t think the requirements are unreasonable in the slightest. Even the more casual of players will likely have their first elites unlocked in a matter of days if that is what they choose to do. I’m put money on the fact that if you just play through the HoT Story and Zone/Mastery progression as you are supposed to do, you will get all the HPs you need in pretty short order.
The only thing I would have done differently is the following. I would have created a mastery system for unlocking the Elite Spec, Runes, Sigils, Skins, and maybe some crafting recipes. After unlocking the Elite Spec on the first tier of the mastery, you could them invest your Hero Points into unlocking its traits and utilities. Anet gives you your first Mastery Points at the end of the initial story chapter, so you could use it to just about immediately unlock your Elite Spec. Then all you would need your HPs (Much less than 400 now) to get your traits and utilities.
Create Revenant.
Pop Golem Banker.
Click on a Lvl 30 scroll and 50 tomes.
Put on my pre-crafted ascended armor, weapons, and trinkets.
Stay in the newbie zone forever as its god.
I understood it the way they gonna hit the update button one minute after reset. So 1 min to do old dailies if you’re fast enough!
They are launching HoT, at 12:01 AM Friday Morning per the blog post. That is 4 hours after dailies reset, not 1 min. The daily may or maybe not reset after HoT launches. At best, you can get the opportunity for an extra daily rewards. At worst, you will get what you always get, on time.
This is very simple. Dailies are not changing with HoT release, at least not initially.
So do your Thurs dailies and Fri dailies as usual.
Can you think of any dailies that are completable in Hot areas because I can’t, so you will be doing them in core Tyria as you always have.
It says" overcoming challenges in the jungle to unlock your elite specialization,"
wat?
We cant just unlock it via hero points and such when we start? im really confused about this
I was confused as well. I bought HOT for the elites, not to go play in their new zones just to get to them (I want to hit the zones on my schedule, not somebody elses).
People have been doing hero challenges, and almost nothing else, for weeks now in case the number was higher than what we had on all our characters (this was especially frustrating to us altoholics). We were pretty much told we could play HOT content if we were 80s and there was not a qualifier to that. Everything says the main HOT content is elites —- points of interest, blog posts, BWEs. This means nobody will be playing elites right from day 1?
You can play the HoT content if you are 80 and there is no qualifier for that. Part of the HoT content is working to unlock the elite spec. ANet never once said you would have access to all elites the moment you login on day 1. They never even hinted that would be the case. The only thing they said was that you will need hero points to unlock new utilities and traits. You are going to actually have the play the game, get used to it or find another game that suits you better.
I DO play the game. Why do you think I am on this forum?
Because you want to complain about having to play the game to get stuff?

12:01 AM Pacific Time on the 23rd. This is a good time for it to start since it will not be peak population time.
I would have liked it if they had the elite specs tied to particular masteries, and you have to level up a certain mastery to unlock a particular Elite Spec. This would be 1000x better than anet just giving everyone everything, because then what would be the point of even playing this game.
I hope this doesn’t’ turn into another “OMG! You mean I have to play the game! I’m outraged!” thread.
I’m fine with this. Having to do a quest or overcome some sort of challenge to unlock the Elite Spec is what I would expect to happen. After it is unlocked, you can then use hero points to unlock utilities and traits.
It will be 3 years next month since ascended were introduced. If you don’t have 1 full set of gear after 3 years, then you haven’t been playing the game at all. I’m very casual and have 9 Full Sets of Gear.
I’m sick of the people complaining about having to actually play the game to play the game. Why would you buy a game and then not play it? I think most of these people are just trolls.
I kinda wish there were still farm bots running around. They didn’t really bother me and they kept the mat cost low on the TP. If you remember, the price of mats skyrocketed after anet started mass banning.
Anyways, Anet seems to have a pretty good system for eliminating the bots and spammers, and I don’t know anyone who was permanently banned by mistake or because someone threatened to report them. You hear stories on the forums, but you have to take those with the a grain of salt.
You are overthinking things. You have pugs and you have militia. Militia can form a zerg but are generally more organized because they are on TS with the commander. Pug just do whatever and generally don’t accomplish much outside of karma train.
The OP, I’m sure, is referring to a organized, or semi-organized blob of players. And as I stated in my original post, these fights have changed drastically based on game mechanic changes but not usually because of a change to one particular class.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
Elite Specs, no. Overarching changes to mechanics, yes. Look at how changes to Stability and Condi effected the way zergs fight in WvW.

You have to unlock everything else before you can unlock an elite. I’m almost 100% sure Anet discussed that at one point or another.
When you buy HoT you get:
Revenant Class
Elite Specializations with new weapons.
New Ranger Pets
Masteries
4 New HoT Zones
Raids
New crafting profession
Being able to claim your Guild Hall.
All future Living Story Updates
New Legendary Weapons, Legendary Armor, Legendary Backpack
What you get without buying HoT:
New WvW Zone
New PvP Maps
Redone Fractals
The Smoke Skale is fine for PvE. No nerfs needed for PvE content. It is the only good pet we have.
In WvW, pets have a lowered health pool compared to PvE and die almost instantly. The best we can hope for here is maybe getting off an initial burst of DPS before it dies.
In PvP, I can’t commend because I didn’t test it in this game mode but I’m sure ANet will normalize the damage.
Additional Though: I would only support a Skale dps nerf for WvW if they give pets the PvE health pool.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
This happened to me but my pet went poof when coming out of Celestial Form in PvE on my Druid. I couldn’t figure out how to get it back.
This is a really bad bug.
Thanks for the tip on how to get my pet restored.
The prices have been pretty stable for quite some time and accurately reflect the current state of supply/demand.
What you mean to say is that you want ANet to announce new sources of mats so the prices drop because you don’t want to have to do any work or spend any money for ascended gear.
The prices have been pretty stable. Once word gets around that demand should be going up considerably, that might change. When a new source of demand for something is added, they should always increase supply as well.
And in case you insist on your “you don’t want to spend on Ascended gear” theory, while I don’t have full ascended on my characters at the moment, I do have a huge stockpile of the necessary mats, so the market would not prevent me from doing so and I could actually make a significant profit if I decided to liquidate at the high price. This is not some self-interest thing.
My speculation is that prices will initially spike as people will be doing a lot of gear crafting but then will steadily drop as additional mats flow into the market from the expansion areas. I have all my HoT crafting pretty much done. I’ll be keeping an eye on the market and looking for opportunities to make money. I’m hoping Damask prices spike at HoT release, so I can make a quick 1.5K or more off my current stockpile.
ANet should not always cater to the lowest common denominator. There is plenty of content for that level of play already. 3 years of anet giving us non-challenging content, has created a player-base where everyone thinks they are entitled to free stuff and rangers have LB4 on Auto Attack.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
I don’t get the big deal with raids requiring ascended gear or even having multiple gear sets that you switch out during the raid.
People have had two and a half years to get ascended gear. The only people that don’t have them are the people that complained about it and never started working on it and those that are new to the game.
The people that didn’t complain and started working on getting them, after 2.5 years, likely have every single toon geared head to toe in ascendeds with leftovers in the bank.
I personally have gear sets for all 8 toons and have enough mats/gear in the bank to equip 3 more toons if required. It isn’t like this stuff is out of reach for anyone. It is actually really easy to get, but just takes time.
Many people don’t have it because for 2.5 years we’ve been told and reassured that it was entirely optional outside of high level fractals.
Raids are the new hardcore endgame content. Previously, the hardcore endgame content was Fractals. People doing high level fractals are the hard core players that are going to be raiding and they are geared or have the means to get geared.
I don’t expect people who don’t play hardcore to all suddenly change how their playing and start doing raids.
They shouldn’t announce things like this without also announcing new sources for Ascended mats so that the prices remain stable.

The Halloween event comes once per year. HoT will be there forever.
I plan on splitting my time between HoT and Halloween. I need more 20 slot bags and Tyria Masteries.
The game isn’t crashing for me or anyone else I’m talking to in guild or TS, and ANet historically makes crashing issues top priority and fixes them very quickly. Also, if there was a wide-spread issue, these forum would be filled with posts about it. Therefore, I would look at possible issues with your computer as this is what causes the vast majority of crashes.
I would say it is just the right difficulty for the reward you get.
Thanks for the sale on Bunny Ears ANet!
I sense sarcasm.
I’ve prepared by doing the following since the day HoT was announced:
Saved all my laurels (Ascended Rings, Amulets, over 200 atm).
Saved all my guild commendations (Ascended Accessories, over 200 atm).
Stockpiled all T6 Mats (Ascended Backpacks, over 500ea T6 atm).
Completed Daily Ascended Crafting (Currently enough mats in the bank for 5 complete sets of ascended armor and at least a half dozen new ascended weapons)
I’ll continue to stockpile until release and then I’ll go on a spending/crafting spree the likes Tyria has never seen.
(edited by Chobits.2430)
I’ve been running my main, Ranger w/ Full Ascended Gear, in the new zones. Since I know how to play this class at 110%, the new content is a cakewalk.
I’ve been testing the Elite Specs in the core content trying to get playstyles down. Must less frustrating trying out a new class/elite outside of VB.
Also, I think they tones down the difficulty of the mobs since the last BWE.
