I’m sitting on 149 glory boosters….. no wait, make it 150 I just opened a chest………
Anyways, how many glory boosters have you guys got?
I’ve got almost 150 as well…145 to be exact. And since everytime I play PvP for an hour and use a glory booster, I get a few more, shouldn’t we get some sort of compensation?
I’ve got an idea. We should be able to exchange all the boosters for a small amount of glory, that way it’s almost like using them all, and you still get something for them.
Note: you would get significantly less glory for trading them in than if you used them.

I’ve seen threads like these for a while, and if that many people are complaining about it, then it might be a good idea to remove it from the solo q.
IMO, it’s a fun map, and the skyhammer is pretty awesome. But the disappearing platforms can become annoying, especially when someone with a ton of control smashes you down into one. It can make it more about how much control/stability/boon strip you have, rather than skill and strategy. And while I understand that knocking someone off the edge may be a major part of some peoples’ strategy, I still think that it doesn’t promote fair gameplay.
Making Reaper’s Mark give allies in the area Stability would be pretty good, IMO.
Ya, that’s a pretty good idea. Either that or what zapv was saying
As far as skills go, I’d rather see it tied to either signet of locust or signet of undeath. Currently both of those are very lackluster, and could use a buff. Spectral Armor is currently great as is because with spectral wall you can get a good amount of protection overall. I’d rather see stability on a trait though because we would get more overall stability. For instance, they could give 5 seconds of stability on spectral, or signet use.
Signet of locust should be buffed, for sure
Or just use power in wvw as well? Plenty do.
Yup, I’m really going for using both power and conditions in PvE and WvW.
It’s just for a little balance, so I can utilize that extra power in some difficult dungeon bosses, or to break through that one elementalist’s diamond skin.
With your guys’ insight, I came up with another build. Anyone care to critique?
I’m not sure what you are going to use this for, but here is what I think.
1. Celestial stacks power horribly.
2. You dont need 93% crit chance in ds, 80 will do (fury included).
3. Might want to consider using focus or warhorn instead of dagger for lf generation.
4. Having high crit damage and low power is a no go.Cheers and good luck with your hybridmancer.
Sorry for the confusion; to be clear, I was planning on trying to have some sort of “all in one” build for WvW and PvE, one that would do mostly condition damage, but have a bit of power so in boss fights, I’m not completely useless.
Thanks, for the feedback, I like your build :P.
So, what you’re saying is, against a single target with no armor or anything but just the amulet, you can do pretty much the same amount of damage over time through direct damage, rather than conditions. That’s actually pretty sad….
Note: I posted this somewhere else before I noticed this thread…oops.
Hey guys, I just wanted to get some input on the hybridmancer I made. It’s condition oriented with some celestial so it has a little extra kick, but with decent defense. It’s a 0-30-10-0-30 build.
Here’s the link: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vQEQNAW7Yjc00ab1N+2wfbCRqw1E9gYCmkh6B8kOfIA-zQBBYjRORtIasVTFRjVdDTHjIqGA-e
Outline:
-semi-high condition damage (1300+)
-decent defense (2650 armor)
-low power (1150)
-about 50% crit-chance
-about 60% crit-damage
Goals/Purposes:
I wanted a hybridmancer with scepter and staff, (mostly condition damage), but a bit of back up crit damage so I can pop DS and actually do some damage with life blast, etc. It also has a bit more armor than other hybrids I’ve seen, so it can take a bit more damage.
Basically, my plan is to mainly spam conditions with the scepter, use DS as a back-up and do some damage while hitting on-crit bleeds, and then utilize terror so I can do some extra damage with fear. However, the one thing I’m stuck on is whether to go spite for dhuumfire/cond duration, or curses for hemophelia/scepter duration/terror.
So, what do you guys think? Is this alright, or should I just go full condi?

Hey I was just wondering, is this the last day to make the ascended version of the new backpack?
What I mean is, are blade shards going to be available after the build tomorrow?
$12.50 Charge for Convenience of Lions Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Chuck Nizzle.6283
Those who (rather sycophantically) defended Arenanet made some of the following arguments:
You can just go to other cities:
Yes, but none of the other cities offer the same level of convenience as Lion’s Arch (in terms of number of services offered and proximity of services to each other, not to mention gate travel) , that’s why LA was consistently the most visited location.
Yeaa…NOOO. Why does everyone go to LA? Because it’s the main city where everyone chills and hangs out, but it is NOT the most convienient city. Sure, it’s got extra things like dungeon venders, mystic forge, etc…I’ll give you that.
But come on! Rata Sum is waaay better for crafting and such. The bank, black lion merchants, and regular merchants are right next to each other!!! Plus, getting more supplies for crafting is faster because you can waypoint to the TP, then run back in about 15 seconds.
So by taking out LA, we’re really not missing a whole lot. In fact, now it’s better, because people are more spread out and using different cities to do transactions and such, instead of just making LA a giant lagg fest.
10 glory booster = 1 other booster of your choice
Is that what you’re hoping for, or was that actually announced as a thing?
I have the exact same question. Also, are there any other big changes to PvP that we should know about that weren’t mentioned in previous patch notes?
I have to agree with Drarnor, we’re not really sure what’s going to happen yet, so let’s not jump to any conclusions. Let’s just focus on getting some new ideas down for this thing.
The “possible” patch notes idea for the signet doesn’t seem that bad, but since the legitimacy is questionable, I’m not really sure what to say….
Just from reading what other forum users on this thread have said, it seems that some of the said changes above aren’t necessarily true. So let’s take what we’ve heard with a grain of salt, and just focus on what we know will actually happen.
It’s been a little while since anyone’s commented on it, but this still seriously needs to be changed. With the update coming up soon that’s nerfing dhuumfire, I think that we could use a buff. And since this is one of the saddest skills the necromancer has, we ought to have this skill improved.
In my opinion, and in the opinion of most others, this signet is still a letdown. It only works in certain scenarios, not to mention it doesn’t really siphon health on passive; it only negates a little bit of it, with a super annoying 1 second cooldown. And while the active is alright, why would you EVER choose this over consume conditions??? And no, I’m not talking about that one time here, or that one time there…I’m saying that generally, consume conditions works waaaay better.
So, with all of that in mind, let’s stay positive and try to come up with some ideas for this thing before the update!
I already have one:
Signet of Vampirism: rename to Signet of Grenth.
Passive: Regenerate health based on the amount of life force you have.
(1<lf<25%=90hp regen, 26<lf<50%=200hp regen, etc, effect increases with amount of life force you have)
Active: Heal yourself, and siphon health from nearby allies. If no one is struck, gain life force.
Base health is 4,000. Siphon healing is approx 500. Life force gained if not struck: 30%
Nerf nerf nerf nerf nerfedy nerf nerf nerf?
Sorry, I don’t speak nerf.
IMO these aren’t the best ideas, just saying. Warrior’s better off now than what YOU’RE planning on doing with it.
Really? Okay, that’s not so bad then…but what about PvP armor? Will we still be able to get that, or is Anet gonna merge PvP with PvE armor like they said they might? I remember them saying something about just being able to use the looks of your PvP armor on your PvE armor…
With the “phasing out” of glory update coming up soon, there really isn’t much time to spend the rest of our glory and/or use all of our glory boosters. For example: I now only have a month to spend all 150 of my glory boosters.
It would be really nice if we could have some extra time, perhaps another month or two.
Also: is Anet getting rid of ranks as well? How about finishers?
I feel kinda bad for you MasterKitty, you didn’t really get rated….
So then, I shall rate your name! Nice story, sounds pretty cool, not a huge fan of Aliron though….never heard of that one before. I’ll give you an 8/10.
As for Pip, Jack Daniels seems like a cool name, but it lacks originality. I’ll give you a 7/10.
And lastly, my username for the charr I just created is Buckminster Jackson.
He’s a charr ranger with a beard, but he’s also aggressive and liable to cause DESTRUCTION.
The WvW tournament coming out soon seems rather promising. After some not-so-great rewards the first time around, this time, the rewards seem much more promising.
What are your guys’ thoughts on this?
Simply, what, in your opinion, is the best armor class for charr?
I say this because I’m trying to decide what profession I should choose for my new character, but I don’t want to repeat a profession I’ve done before.
And since I’ve already done Guard and Warr, I’m not sure whether I should go medium or light. But from what I’ve seen, medium is pretty ugly, at least compared to most of the PvP light armor.
So should I go medium, knowing that I really want a charr ranger, go light, because the armor (imo) looks better, or heavy and just roll another warrior?
Yeah, the Staff is great and all, against zergs spamming conditions (running 0/20/0/20/30 build), but its just boring.
Got my Necro to lvl 80 with crafting and scrolls an I just can’t seem to find a way to enjoy it – my main characters are all Melee – Guardian, Warrior and Thief.
The most fun skill so far i’ve found is Spectral Walk – jumping of the cliffs and teleporting back just before you’re about to hit the ground.
Yup, spectral walk is awesome. But did you know that spectral return resets the fall counter when you’re falling?
So, for example, you can climb to the top of mount malstrom, jump off, and then right before you hit the ground, start/end spectral walk.
I’ve done it a million times—just double click the skill right before you hit the ground, and you’ll survive when you hit.
Sig of vamp is self trolling.
Ya, lol. That signet of vamp. I forced myself to use it for a month then went back to consume conditions and thought, “Why did I ever use that thing?”
Anyway, for a build, go terrormancer or condimancer. I know you said that the staff is boring, but if you know how to use it, it can be quite rewarding.
But with the upcoming dhuumfire nerf, if you plan to go full condition-mancer, I’d say don’t invest in the power line at all. Go 0-30-20-0-20 or something like that; just use scepter/dagger most of the time, and then spam a few marks here and there.
A while back, I remember some devs saying that one day they might merge PvP armor and stuff with PvE, and that they would do away with glory, making everything gold-based.
With that in mind, I thought it might be a good time to start hoarding PvP armor. I’m talking everything from rank 1 and up.
But the PvP rewards themselves are a bit confusing; it seems like almost every chest I open, 4 out of 5 of the items are ones I already have.
So is there a way for me to “buy” all the armor and weapons without opening a ton of chests? Also, for the armor I already have, is there anything else I can do with it besides using a PvP salvage kit?
Actually, races have very little little to do with abilities. So whether you choose asura, charr, human, sylvari, or norn, you will mostly get the same things.
The only major difference is, of course, the looks. As for anything “special” that the races get, the only thing that they get are special racial skills, which aren’t that great. Plus, you can’t even use them in PvP. There are only about 2-3 racial skills per race, by the way.
Here’s the link to them, if you want http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Racial_Skills
(edited by Chuck Nizzle.6283)
To decide what build you want, first you should ask yourself, “What matters most to me?”
Is it looking cool, dealing a good amount of damage, support, etc?
Well, one of the nice things about GW2 is the fact that pretty much all the professions are capable of all these things, though some more than others.
To answer your first question, generally, guardians are needed the most. They are arguably the best at support, but can still do a high amount of damage.
All of the professions are highly viable in PvP. Once again, it just depends on your setup, how skilled you are, etc.
As for PvE, since you’re going to be doing a lot of running, you’re going to want a profession with a speed boost of some sort. The ranger, elementalist, and necromancer, for example(s), all have skills that you unlock that give you a passive 25% speed boost.
As for killing monsters themselves, doing more damage is probably better than defense, at least when you’re exploring. The warrior and guardian do a ton of melee damage.
My recommendation for PvE, though, would be a ranger. They do plenty of long range damage and have lots of movement skills/speed boosts.
Lately, it seems, I have not been getting my rewards for doing bounty with my guild. It’s happened to me twice in the past two weeks, each in different locations.
Also, I know for a fact that I was representing the correct guild BOTH times.
Is there something I’m missing? Still kinda new to guild events…
That depends; do you…
1.
a. want to be able to viably support your allies in dungeons, fractals, etc.
b. be super tanky and have lots of different options for power builds
c. have access to a bunch of boons and awesome effects
d. play a profession with a playstyle somewhat similar to the warrior
OR do you…
2.
a. want to be able to inflict a bizillion conditions on your enemies
b. have access to cool stuff like minions
c. look super cool (necros have pretty awesome-looking skills)
d. play a profession that has almost no movement skills (opposite of the warrior/guardian)
If one suits you better, then go with guardian; if two seems like a better option, go with necromancer.
But what it really comes down to is your play style: if you play the warrior and you really like it, go for the guardian.
In my opinion, guardians are waaaaay better, just because the’re hard to kill and useful in pretty much any situation, whereas necros are really good at just a few particular things, such as condition manipulation/spamming.
Yes. Come on back…it still isn’t perfect, but hey, what profession is? (FYI, this is a rhetorical question…)
But yeah, after they nerf dhuumfire, things should be looking up. No more OP condition builds spending 30 points in spite.
What??? They are removing trait reset?
No, you can still reset traits…how would people ever change their builds if you couldn’t reset your traits?
What they were talking about are instant “trait resets” in the black lion store. You could use them so that you don’t have to go back to a trainer to reset your traits.
But to stay on topic, yeah, being able to switch between two builds would be pretty sweet…then you don’t have to remember every little thing your previous build had before you reset.
In character creation it would be a great option to recolor your profession. I can’t stand the fact that my mesmer shoots out pink attacks. What if I want it too be green or blue? I love the profession, but OH, that blinding pink light!!! Can barely stand it!!!
I must have missed them mentioning crit damage would be changed. Can someone link me the article/post?
Also, if they change crit damage, we realize that it changes crit damage on every class, right? Including Warriors, Thieves, etc.? I’d take a crit damage hit on my WvW Powermancer that’s currently at about 102% just to watch Thieves take a hit on their crit damage.
They said it in their livestream; you can read the reddit post for a condensed version.
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/496005243
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1vharm/ready_up_livestream_notes/
So yeah, this is good news if you’re NOT a powermancer…but otherwise, it’s not too good.
What will I do if they DIRECTLY nerf powermancer? Just keep playing condimancer!
Thanks for the video, but I kinda wanted I bit more toughness. Very cool build, though.
nobody really knows what it is, or what it is based off of….
Sorry for the irrelevant English lesson, but you should say “on” instead of “off of”.
Just a pet peeve of mine, carry on.
Wanna know what MY pet peeve is? Talking about grammer mistakes when we should be focusing on the future of this game.
So….let’s talk more about ferocity! Thank you all for posting what it is/what you believe it to be; let’s hear some more ideas (and maybe even what you WANT it to be :P).
(Meditation of) Ferocity is a mechanic in Temple of the Silent Storm which increases the amount of points which you get whenever you kill an enemy by 3. They spawn in sets of 2, making the maximum points you can gain from killing 11.
I’m strongly inclined to say that’s not what you’re talking about. <_<
You’re right, that’s not what I’m talking about…sorry for the confusion.
Ferocity is a new stat that will be replacing crit damage, but what I’m asking is, what is it? Is it like an alternative source of power, is it based off of another stat, or what?
Does anybody know what it does?
It seems that while everyone is talking about how they like or hate ferocity, nobody really knows what it is, or what it is based off of….
So does anyone know what ferocity actually is?
And please, no hasty generalizations…if we don’t know what it does, how can we criticize it?
The reason why is because you’re on one server, in one location, that is not at the center of the game. If you go to Lion’s Arch, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of people.
Plus, you’re probably not playing at peak hours right now….and since this game is pretty expansive, people tend to be spread out when the’re exploring.
Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of people to chill with :P
THANK YOU ANET FOR NERFING DHUUMFIRE!!! You are awesome. Everything else….well, we’ll just see how it plays out.
But right now, everyone’s rejoicing, necros and others alike! NO MAS DHUUMFIA!!!
(well, sorta kinda)
Celestial gear getting nerfed seems fine to me…and berserker gear? Everyone’s got that stuff. I’m kinda glad that it’s getting changed to ferocity, because it’ll make people change up their builds and stats.
Critical Damage is getting replaced soon with a different stat so … uh not really sure.
Anyway, sure go for ascended if you have nothing else to do and don’t care to sell the materials for gold. If you aren’t going to be doing much fractals you don’t need it.
Well, that is one bonus I supposed…extra AR.
But wait a second…you said the’re replacing crit damage? Can you show me when they said this?
After all the nerfs, and all the ups and downs, I think I’ve finally decided to go hybrid. I have an idea of what I want, but I am unsure what, exactly, my build should be and what armor I should get.
Keeping in mind that I LOVE condition builds and simply want a bit of extra crit damage/power so I have available non-cond DPS when I want, I was thinking about a
30-10-0-0-30 build, with dhuumbfire, hemophelia, and deathly perception. Having around 60% crit damage plus 50% prec I think would be pretty optimal, plus I’d be able to maintain bleeds will in DS. I’d go with celestial armor and rabid trinkets, and I’d be using staff/scepter/dagger.
So here comes the question: what do you think of this build? Is it viable, and if not, what would you recommend?
So…I was recently comparing celestial ascended armor with exotic; and it appears that, besides a different look, all you get is +7 more to each stat, and no more critical damage.
Is it really worth it to get ascended armor, or should I just get the exotic versions? (Already got plenty of charged crystals.
Edit: to clarify, by what I said before, I meant celestial, sorry for the confusion
(edited by Chuck Nizzle.6283)
Yeah, that’s better…nice! Now your character really says I am death incarnate!!!
Yours is awesome….not too sure about those gauntlets though. Got somethin’ a bit more creepy :P?
Name: Firstborne Valient
I made this ele mainly just for fun-here’s what I plan on having him look like (I’m only level two right now, so I can’t wear it yet :/). I’ll probably choose a different color than pink though…looks a little strange :P.
By the way all your guys’ elementalists look amazing.
You should pick whatever you want, just for the looks. When it comes down to it, some racial abilities are simply better than others. But how often are you actually going to be using those abilities?
So don’t make an asura. Why? Because then you’re tiny and no one can see all of your awesome gear!!!
Make a charr if you want to be huge and look just awesome in general. The only problem is some of the armor clips.
Make a human if you just want to look like an average joe, but still be fairly big. The problem is that there are a lot of humans out there.
Make a norn if you basically want to look life a bigger human, and if you love tatts. XD
Make a sylvari if you want to be able to have pretty much any skin color you want, plus awesome-glowing cultural armor.
My necro’s a human, and I’m happy with that. I’m with everyone else on this though-make it a Charr!!!
Change the scepter. The staff AoE is useful in many situations, and it favors hybridization because it utilizes both power/conditions.
The scepter could use some change, but just to the number 3 skill; the other skills work great.
The whole do-more-damage-based-on-number-of-conditions seems good in theory, but it’s just not a power weapon. It’s a condition weapon. Having a power attack on a condition weapon is pretty pointless. Plus, this weapon has no control effects.
So change it to this:
Rabid bites: bite your target 5 times, gaining life force with each strike. Your final strike stuns your target (2 seconds) and inflicts torment (10 seconds).
This isn’t overpowered at all, and only inflicts one stack of one condition, while giving you some much-needed control. Plus, it’s very dodge-able.
My inspiration for this came from some of the undead in Orr.
Future: extra suggestions
Future: slot skills
