Wow. So, just cruising over to the t7 boards. Was SF always as full of themselves when they were here in t8, or is this attitude something new that came with the points gift from Anet? If you guys had to suffer through months of trash talk and posturing like they’re throwing around in the t7 post…my hat is off to you all.
Fun match up so far. Except that blue murder ball that was rolling around our BL last night. STOP THAT. You’ve trampled most of the gardens and spooked all of the moose.
I’m sorry that HoD and NSP have to deal with SF. Spawn camping? Really? With any luck they’ll zerg-ball their way through t7 and get to a place where this tactic is not going to work – provoking them to start their “whining posts”
Well…Agg comprised a VERY large chunk of the zerg-murder ball that was rolling through the GoM borderlands last night.
BTW…I found someone’s undergarments in a sconce in the Lord’s Room after we’d kicked out some ET squatters from Bay. Honestly, you people need to learn how to be proper house guests. Drinking all the beer, not re-filling the ice in the freezer, leaving empty pizza boxes all over the place – well…it’s just disgusting.
Any chance the bro-mance between ET and FC is going to develop into something more? I mean the red border lands stay pretty darn red throughout the day while you blue meanies keep coming in to do naughty things in our borderlands. Is it love…or just a physical thing?

Look at it this way: Some adorable ET Charr Engi decided to corpse dance on me after he finally got me down outside Bay after reset – with the assistance of a couple of his friends. Not to worry. Spent the time while I was down studying his armor and then made sure that I power ganked his smarmy behind for the rest of the night.
Don’t get mad. Get even…get even a lot! And…props to HoD and NSP for not corpse dancing or rude emoting during the numerous weeks we were competing with each other. GoM misses you all.
P.S. I’m still keeping an eye out for my Charr friend for some more fun.
I think something you need to realize is that no server on NA had medium pop. So no free server transfers were given, SF kicking some kitten has nothing to do with the free transfers
SF kicking “kittens” has everything to do with Anet adjusting the points in Tier 8 – and only Tier 8. If it had been an across the board adjustment, I’m certain that it would have been looked at differently. However, since it was not, evidence would suggest that the louder one whines the faster the devs respond. GG.
Yes…I’ve seen the massive ET zergs. They’re fairly intimidating until they start running at the first sign of trouble – which is a complete turn around from HoD and NSP who would fight to the last man. shrug Different play style I guess.
There was a HUGE zerg in the GoM BL last night that would rip into a target, take it over and then move on like a swarm of locusts – allowing us to recap their former target fairly quickly. When we’d finally cornered the nasty thing in Sunny, we spanked them all soundly before sending them back to their spawn point to think about what they’d done – sometimes the best way to deal with petulant children.
The big, blob of enemy names is fairly impressive to see from a distance…but there’s not much substance there. HoD does it right in that regard. THEY know how to zerg. Take some lessons.
This is further evidence that temper tantrums can sometimes get you what you want.
If GoM falls to t8 it has absolutely nothing to do with that server’s ability to compete. More a combination of the latest batch of (absurd) server transfers and Anet capitulating to a rather vocal (whiny) group of players bemoaning their position in the tier ladders. This is what is fueling the animosity and negativity that the current t7 servers are experiencing towards the possible upstart usurper.
You couldn’t break out legitimately. Server transfers kitten GoM horribly. Anet mollycoddled t8’s mewling and restructured points system to make you all feel better about yourselves. It’s garbage. You didn’t earn it. Hope you choke on it.
Well, we’ve been droppin in ranks since September. Didn’t hit tier 8. ArenaNet thought they would fix that by transferrin people for free to our competition. Didn’t hit tier 8. So they bump everyone below us up in rating. That’s what it takes I guess.
Edit: What really strikes me is how different the outcome would have been before the free transfer week. I do feel like I’ve been kicked in the balls twice. We didn’t get transfers so we’re forced down a tier to fight servers that got tier 1 transfers. Cool.

You do realize, of course, that NSP and HoD are going to destroy (and I mean mercilously eradicate) SF if they did manage to whine their way into T7 right? I mean the blood shed is going to be on a biblical proportion.
It’s been my pleasure and honor to compete against these two servers. And quite frankly…SF is just not up to it.
I’ll wager by EOD Saturday we’ll have the SF forum jockeys complaining about being double teamed, being out-manned, siting server population and crying various forms of foul about why the point spread is so off.

Transfer to GoM. We’re tier 7 and hardly ever have queues to get into WvWvW. Seriously…I can’t think of the last time I actually was kept out of WvWvW because of queues.
I was talking about population balance, but it appears as if though you are more interested in score balance. To each their own.
They go hand in hand. Tier 7 was fun. We were competitive as a bracket. No one was roflstomping the other two servers. That changed at the time that the server transfers were open. It’s just really disappointing to see some fun match ups totally destroyed because of this absurd influx of free transfers.
If anyone was going to move out of this bracket, it was going to be a hard earned victory. Not so much anymore.

Why transfer to Gate of Madness? Dancing girls, free beer, the pizza is never stale, the pretzels and peanuts never run out at the bar, you get a mint every night on your freshly-fluffed pillow and cable is always free – even “those” channels.
GoM is made up of a group of dedicated WvWvW players who’ve stayed faithful to their home server through thick and thin, have a very close WvWvW community as well as a very healthy PvE community.
Come on…you know you want to. Tier 7 match ups are never boring and our Commanders are known to break into song periodically. We’re waiting for you.
Just wanted to give props to the thief who smoked me last night in GoM borderland. Not so much because she did kick my butt…but more because she waited nearby until one of my fellow GoM peeps came by to rez me and then accepted my congratulations (bow) on a good fight. After the mutual respect, we went off in our separate directions to engage other enemies.

What’s the Golden Rule? “Don’t Feed the Forum Trolls”. Some of our opponents, not representing either the general attitude or demeanor of the HoD or NSP server, feel the need to “over compensate” by coming here to the forums and being silly. Best just to shake your head sadly and walk away. I’ve run across much more engaging opponents this week from both servers who do a much better job of proving their server’s strength on the battle field…rather than grousing on the forums.
By the way…last night’s battles with NSP in EB and with HoD in our BL were great! I really must give out props to you all for being classy while still being fearsome foes!
When you don’t feed the trolls, they head back to their bridges where we can treb them from a distance.
Sorry about all the messes, we tend to drink a LOT of beer in our mountainous homes and sometimes lose self control and enjoy breaking things beside your doors

As for PvD… just stop already please, you are embarrassing yourselves and your server (which i happen to like). When we logged in it was all blue, myself and rob are bot on GMT times, We were camped and fairly outnumbered…. just because you realised that we came into EB to fight back, you cant just say “ok lets everyone stop trying to fight them, because they will win, instead lets all leave and claim that they pvdoored us while we were asleep, it gives us a much better server image”
I will admit your numbers sucked by the time we took GoM keep, but for the hour prior to that your numbers were very equal to our own, but maybe after we took SM and a few towers some players lost morale. Or maybe they legitimately went to sleep but what do you want us to do? log off? Would you like to see the videos of your defenders actively trying to stop us? I don’t have them uploaded yet but if you so request I will.
As for hacks. no one on NSP actually thinks GoM hacks (except for trolls) We all recognise that there was a server glitch, unfortunately some people abused that glitch more than others, but a few does not a bad server make.
Can we all just stop the QQ and the hacks/spies/teaming up (not sure what gom and hod beef is, but trust me, NSP will fight both with equal respect, we never want a repeat of what happened to us)
I do notice that our downtime seems to correlate with GoM uptime and vica versa, that is unfortunate, But the keeps were by far not defenceless, 2 days ago we fought for almost 2 hours in GoM keep

It’s a back and forth…you take everything while we’re asleep and then we come back and take it while you all are doing the same. It’s all good. However, I’d appreciate it if you all would at least keep everything a bit tidier for when we sweep back through and re-take everything you captured. You leave a horrific mess that we end up having to spend valuable time cleaning up when we could be beating up your doors. And honestly, the undergarments hanging from the chandelier in the Lords Room in our BL Keep…? Really…? It’s just rude.

Someone posted that GoM lost a lot of their WvW guilds because they were stamped as a hacker server… Well… As I said, certain incidents are leaving me no other choice but to actually agree with claims that have been whispered to me.
This is my personal experience, not “the entire NSP backing me on this”

If you’re going to saunter into the forums and throw down an accusation like this, you’d better come with pics, and specific instances of what you’re considering a concerted effort to take advantage of game mechanics in an unfair or unscrupulous manner. You don’t want to call out guilds – that’s fine and honorable.
However, for you to leave an accusation of hacking and exploiting at GoM’s doorstep like a flaming bag of dog poo and then run away with a giggle…that’s just poor form and reeks of bad sportsmanship.
That’s why I am posting it.

2. As far as sportsmanship goes, someone is feeding GoM information, so that’s out the window.
All you’re doing at this point is causing trouble. If you’re not going to be forthright with examples of cheating/hacking, then – at least to me – it’s appearing to be a case of sour grapes.

I’ve recently started leveling a thief and am loving it. However, my real love for the game is in WvWvW, and I’m not sure if:
a. Leveling in WvWvW is actually possible
and
b. What is the best build/weapon combination/gear to use for leveling
I’m currently having a blast with my mesmer in WvWvW…but it’s getting kind of stale. The thief class is the one class that has consistently given me good fights in WvWvW and looks like it would be a blast to play. I looked through the other post that someone had placed regarding this question and looked through some of the builds that have been stickied – but was still having too many questions in how to proceed.
Any, and all, advise would be helpful and appreciated. I look forward to joining the “Brotherhood of Stabby McStabberson” and from learning from you all.
@Khalic: No, no. The rivalry that has been established here is completely friendly and borne out of excellent competition, good sportsmanship and friendly ribbing. Neither BP nor AR have engaged in any type of grand-standing, chest beating, spawn camping or other crass behavior during this bout – opposed to some other servers GoM has recently had the displeasure of being matched against.
All sides have kept the battle clean so far. Let’s keep it up!
So…why is it that BP is getting so defensive? AR and GoM are just here saying that we’ve been having a blast in this week’s match up.
If you’ll notice, GoM has admitted to having little to no overnight presence. So…we lose a lot over night to servers that do. Nothing special, or anything to get all worked up over. On the flip side of the coin, our PT presence is bigger and we have been taking back pretty much everything that is lost to the overnight zergs. Again…nothing special, but just the way things work out.
Having said that, however, I’ll admit to going out of my way to avoid fighting with AR players. Not because I don’t enjoy the combat…but rather “…The enemy of my enemy is my friend…” But, in those instances where we did have to face off against each other…my hat is off to the AR forces! The same goes for those people from BP who have been fighting with honor and drive this week, but since you’re in the lead point wise…that target you have on your back is there to stay.
It’s ok Osskil. GoM doesn’t really have a great over night presence. But…within the next 12 hours, when the GoM machine starts waking up and storming back into the borderlands…then I’m sure that a bit of Hakato’s bravado is going to evaporate. GoM is here to fight this week…and it’s going to take more than an over night zerg fest to dampen our spirits.
And, honestly, AR and GoM haven’t been coordinating attacks against BP – that’s just silly paranoia. But…if that justification makes it easier for you to sleep then by all means go with that train of thought.

We’re feeling pretty good about where we are, what we’re accomplishing and how we’re going about it!
Nope. No new transfers. The server is just playing much better than we have in the past. I honestly think that having some of the fair weather guilds transferring out was a big help to us in the long run.
We’ve been placed in brackets against servers that we had no business competing against. It wasn’t because we lacked skill…it was a matter of WvWvW population and an inability to have 24×7 coverage. This week’s match up has been awesome…we’re competing against servers on an even footing and loving the actual pvp we’re being able to take part in. And, to your comment about “lack of intelligence all around” – this week has seen a marked improvement in tactics, a lack of mindless zerging and an increase in real organization on the server. This is no slight on you Osskil, or any one else, but since we’ve seen the mass exodus of so many guilds from GoM…the level of play has actually gotten better.
Honestly, I don’t think that the faithful of GoM really care what bracket we’re in. The top tiers with all of the server transfer drama can keep all of that chaos up with them. We’re more than happy to be in the bracket we’re in doing actual pvp. Those of us who refuse to abandon our server are not concerned with the “glory” of being a top tier W3 server (what ever that really means in the great scheme of things), but are more intent on actually being able to take part in balanced battles and rigorous combat. So, for anyone reading this…we don’t feel bad, or want anyone’s pity for not being in the top tiers. We’re very happy to finally be settling into a bracket where we can actually participate in WvWvW rather than watch karma hungry murder machines zerg through the maps from our citadel.

With the exceptions of possible hacks (wasn’t there, so won’t comment) and spawn camping already (wasn’t there, so won’t comment), as a GoM player I’d like to say yay!
This is the first game in more than a few weeks that hasn’t been a blowout by Sunday night. The fights have been really fun, the servers seem to be pretty balanced and GoM is playing really well as a team this time around.
Win or lose, I’m really enjoying this weeks match up. Now, let’s try and keep it classy with no spawn camping and no hacking. Deal?
No. And no again. Please do not transfer to the lower tier servers. We are attempting to fight and prove ourselves without the drama, grand standing, chaos and egos that come with the infusion of a glut of “power guilds” looking for a solution to their boredom.

For all the talk the last couple of days from Yaks where they were scolding other members from their server for spawn camping…last night was simply rife with that activity. I’ll take some of the posters here at face value and assume that they are being honest. However the “Foo” guild and many others who were camping gates in the GoM borderlands the last couple of nights are the ones who are going to give the Yaks server the reputation of being classless thugs. I’ll be very glad when this one-sided, unbalanced absurdity of a match up is done.
