as of the buffs the the aa chain and daredevil, condis thief dmg comes mainly from aa+dodge now. to burst offensive u use doomsignet+impdaggers+steal+aa but death blossom got a defensive skill (as evey dodge with DB means over 1k heal, cleanse and vigor). so anet did a really good job on that one cause its a lot of fun and very useful. @Casual mentions despised facts and he is right but i woulndt go with that excact build as u need more cleanse, heal and shadowstep

well except for channeld or other skills revealing u after stealth, i think the dodge itself is the problem while in stealth. as long as u dont take dash it is difficult with bound and impossible with implotus to dodge infight. i dont really mind for me as i am fine with this but compared to other classes stealth abilities thiefs felt less efficient infight

you will really be wanting acro over trick on the condi build. Your conditions tick slowly and you depend on being able to stay in a fight. A good acro d/d can let you heal against most enemies damage just as good as any bunker
He is right on that, been running condi dd very succesfull for a while now. Furthermore, as u dont want dash u need the acrobatic mobility (cleanse, stunbrk, swift) to keep the thiefs advanteges. thats the build u looking for in case (mind that amulet has wrong stats on gw2skills)

u think its that bad? i never thought about it. but in my opinion theres more important stuff with thief to put the hands on
there is no actual rotation just combos and reflexive intervening to keep control over points and teamfights. in fight every skill and move u do next depends on your enemies reaction. thats why u cant find simple rotation on metabattle.
apart from your own skills and playstyle, d/p is by far the best competitive build. dont get me wrong im not trying to clarify my position (im s/d thief for 3 years) and i personally dislike the style neccesary for d/p.
the main stealth playstyle was not murdered and more styles grow tight to the power of d/p but the staff in a competitive fight got way too obvious animations for the effect it delivers.
I know so far this isnt a big thing, but while messing around with the condition thief and his poison burst i noticed ID is missing the physical projetile combo finisher like its mentioned in the skills description. When i checked some patchnotes all i found was " Impairing Daggers: Projectiles from this ability are now counted as 100% projectile finishers.". Checked it in all possible fields and positions but it doesnt work.
The Idea was to finish the chokings gas field with them to get a decent amount of poision stacks
yes u are and u always will be “underpowered” if ur missing dd. the recent patch was trying to specifically console the ones like u with the acro buff but as u already noticed thats not enough
yes take a second thought. u could never use the acrobatics traitline in a daredevil pvp build without loosing damage and survivability as a well placed “dash” almost replaces the whole acrobatics traitline. BECAUSE its not meant to be. There are people who dont own HOT so they dont have the daredevil traitline. This is where acrobatics becomes useful.

you are right sir, thanks for the supplement.
i thought of this too and after some observation i noticed barely someones using traps in pve. rarely guardians, never ranger or thieves.
and i think that is because their whole functionality is missing.
what maximises the dragons maw in 1min in pvp could be 10seconds in pve.
this will allow new tactics with movement, timing and kiting
thats the point. the endurance from physical (i.e. bandits defense!) and staff skills allows u to handle team- and solofights quite a time. even as a ““yolo glass in such a heavy bunker meta”, it is so much fun as ur survival depends on your attacks, no offensive no defence. im not critisizing the damage at all.
yes u can play on staff with EA but this will need u to do havoc mastery instead of brawlers tenacity but u end up the same as d/p or s/d thieves:
+1 fights, instastomps and decaps. dont get me wrong, its fun and its useful.
but ur still forced to that role. not by players, but by this meta.
and thats sad as the skills from daredevil would allow to break this scheme
Edit: now with gw2skills up again, heres the base build to simplify the conception: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQJAWVn8lCVOhFOBGmCkmiFfCbLA8aOTzFwDYE0rJsEiCA-TZBFABAcFAEvMABPAga2fYhDBAA

Talking about PVE it is fine as it is and trickster is an option.
But trickster instead of bountiful theft is nonsense as it will remove steal’s best fuction.
(because the stun will get too weak as theres no stab remove so theres no point in trickery trait line)
Using Staff Master is neccesary because in addition to brawlers tenacity and physical skills it allows u to stay in fight. either u choose deadly arts or critical strikes, there is no condition remove. escapers absolution is important in a staff build, driven fortitude is not.
What if traps increase their effects with the duration until they’re triggered?
Meaning to trigger them “instant” as an offensive skill in a pvp fight will do less dmg/condition/stun/heal then when theyre triggered like 2mins later.
After a certain amount of time it will maxemizse its effects, greatly increasing the functionality of traps in general. This will also balance the PVP enormously.
This way it will be very easy to balance rangers and guardians and buff thieves traps.
Sorry for the english, please tell me ur thoughts and if u need nore explanation.
theres only 1 change to be made:
switch Driven Fortitude with Escapists Absolution.
As there is no way to get a useful condition cleanse in a useful staff build.
While other thief builds (D/P & S/D) will stay “balanced” (despite other classes) the staff thief will become an option in PVP and may have more chances with/against the current meta.
Just a well conceived thought from a 2,9k hrs S/D thief almost pvp only.
Please tell me what u think and if u need a better explanation about the how and why.
Sorry for my english.
