I agree completely — apparently the reason it is implemented in its current form is to reduce the effectiveness of enemy “spies” placing siege like a ram in a tower/keep/whatever preventing the home team from being able to place proper defensive siege like Arrow Carts, etc.
But it is a huge pain on lower population servers to keep siege refreshed so it doesn’t decay before an attack occurs. The decay timer should be at least an hour, and probably 2 to be honest — no “spy” is going to bother placing garbage siege every 1-2 hours in a tower or keep.
Good fights tonight in EB — CD had the early lead… SBI almost caught up on points, and then SoS got their late night/early morning crew to take the lead which will no doubt last until Friday
Modifying the scoring system is the wrong answer, will create a bias that isn’t meant to be in the game.
Here are two solutions:
1. Get people to fill your coverage gaps. It works – look at Blackgate or SoR in NA T1.
2. Quit sleeping. Sleep is for the weak anyway.
Both solutions are ones that anyone can implement, no ANet involvement required.
Neither of your solutions is practical — the problem is ANet’s to fix. Whether they will do so is another matter, but having matchups decided by Sat/Sun and no servers moving up or down is not good for the longterm health of the WvW game.
Any limitations to what can be earned during a period of time (North American, Asian or European) would affect the gameplay of people playing in that period of time and thus change the experience which ANet are strongly against.
Developers have said in the past quite clearly they will never make a change to the way the scoring works as WvW is meant to be a 24/7 event.
Sorry to burst any bubbles you had.
Of course they should just leave it how it is if they want people to stop playing the game because there’s no competition on most of the tiers. Every tier winner is pretty much decided by Saturday/Sunday, and the winners/losers are not moving up or down tiers.
Sounds like an incredible system that they definitely shouldn’t think of changing.
Hopefully all 3 of our servers will have close matches next week — would be nice to still have the score matter on Wed/Thur/Fri. I think Mag is a bit stronger than SoS will be, but it’s hard to tell.
Oh now I see why CD runs from 1v1s, they lose 1v3s when they actually fight
I’ve noticed all your posts give a very similar impression of your personality.
Someone make a new thread so we don’t have to dig through dozens of pages to get to the newer posts
I only play in the evenings (west coast), and it seems pretty even between SBI and DR for the most part — both servers capable of putting together a 30 person zerg. It seems like SBI has an advantage in coverage the rest of the time though, not much to be done about that.
I haven’t seen as much of IoJ, but they seem to do a good job of holding their territory given they have less people (seems like they have less people to me anyway).
I refuse to listen to commanders with horrible tactics, and will encourage everyone around me to do the same. You show me a leader that is willing to admit they were wrong and change tactics, and actually listen to reason. People will follow that guy.
What if you’re the one who is wrong? Who decides whether a decision is right or wrong? If you don’t like the tactics or the leader just go do your own thing, go to a different borderland or something.
Maguuma appears to consistently be getting about 600 ppt, and SBI will get maybe ~100-150 ppt the rest of this round. Less than 30k lead, so wouldn’t they pass SBI by Thursday?
There is a lot to be gained from staying in T2 for another week.
It looks to me like Maguuma is going to be replacing SBI in Tier 2 next round, and probably Kaineng the round after, so Tier 2 is about to get very interesting.
I don’t think anyone knows for sure how those two servers are going to do in Tier 1 or 2 yet, but you might not want to count your chickens before they are hatched
