Shouldn’t the chance of HoD and SoS rolling tier 4 (or 3) be almost identical since they are only 3 points apart on glicko? Those numbers show HoD with a 66% chance of rolling tier 4, and SoS around 30%?
They didn’t say they were adding +200 again, I was assuming they weren’t since they hadn’t said they were adding any [points this reset.
There are only 3 spots, and CD is way more qualified than your server at this point, and you know it.
For me, they look all about the same honestly… Wish we had SoS or YB in this new week instead so we could see which of the 4 T3 servers were more fitting.

It’s not a serious video — most of the time there’s just a bare minimum of siege in our garrison. I’ve seen way more siege from Mag in our BL inside an upgraded Bay or Hills than we ever have in our garrison. Which is fine, every server has groups that like to siege stuff up sometimes.
The score and the servers you are facing just don’t support your assertions, sorry (@Josh).
Almost everything you said is either wrong or a bad idea. The CD linking is not winning by that much and they are facing DH/EB kitten , there’s no way you would be competitive in tier 2 — maybe in tier 3, but I doubt it. Have you ever looked at the weekly scores before? They are usually about the current spreads in most tiers.
Resetting glicko would cause major problems for weeks with tier 3-4 servers getting stuck fighting tier 1/2 servers. Not a good idea. Just wait a few weeks and you’ll eventually roll up.

Personally, I think they should dump the glicko and go back to the winning server in a matchup goes up a tier, the last place server goes down a tier, and the 2nd place server stays in the tier. New matchup every week, and you should still stay in the correct tier range for your server, maybe bounce up and down every week.

You need to do some of the things in both of those choices. Quality of life is important, and so is scoring.
The Desert borderlands still suck after the changes. That map is beyond repair. The time to travel from Earth keep inner to Fire keep inner is almost twice as long compared to Garrison inner to Bay inner. Spending way too much time just traveling, less time fighting and having way too large towers + keeps and over designed complex map full of gimmicks (powers related to shrines) is NO fun.
Bring back the original maps as quickly as possible!

It is interesting, and I don’t play in T3 so I don’t know, but is it because you guys basically night cap while mag caps during na? I ask because, for example, you guys have 4.3k kills in t3, while Dh has 10.3k in t4 lol (and we have more deaths than we have kills lel). Even the smallest server in t4 (NSP) has 6.4k, t5 server EBay has 6.5k… Poor SBI has only 2.7k lol. Your server has less kills than a losing t5 server :/ (FC).
I think SBI has 7.5k? But yes, SoS basically night caps everything with almost no resistance. Mag’s EU and NA is totally dominant in tier 3 right now, so they get a lot of kills and and have a good KDR (they have good guild groups + numbers).
Did you run a traceroute or any ping tests to determine where the latency is occurring? If the problem is somewhere on the internet between Southeast Asia and the Anet servers in the US, there’s very little (probably nothing) that Anet can do about it.
We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.
You guys really don’t talk to anyone that plays WvW seriously do you? The problem with your reasoning has already been addressed by multiple people who replied before me, so I will not comment further.

There are multiple wall bugs right now:
1) They randomly go indestructible or lose all their health when they upgrade/take damage (how can this serious bug exist for so long?).
2) The graphical issue with the textures on some tier 1/2 walls that Anet claimed to have fixed in previous patch notes, but is worse than ever.
Supply cost for all catapults are being reduced by ten supply. The layout of the Desert Borderlands map has increased the number of catapults required to take some objectives. We agree with your feedback that also increasing the cost of catapults pushed the balance too far towards defense so we are tuning that more towards offense.
I don’t actually have a problem with this change, but it does make catapults comparatively better than rams, and they already had pretty big advantages. It is much harder to build defensive siege to counter catapults than rams because of things like gate trebs/catas, interior ACs, Shield Generators, Cannons, and Oil (and building them further back). Rams are going to become a thing of the past unless you improve them in some way — maybe reduce the amount of supply necessary to build them by 5? Either that or they need to be buffed in other ways.
Mostly agree, but disagree on two points.
1) The keep lords are not too bad for 5-10 people to kill. It shouldn’t be super easy to kill a keep lord anyway, IMO.
2) It’s pretty easy to slow down the auto-upgrading by just flipping camps. 1-2 people can slow it down by hours, and it happens quite a bit in tier 3.
Maybe some of the issues are just more pronounced in tier 1 — there generally aren’t big fights in the BLs in tier 3.
I have watched one of your videos, and you pretty much made our point — it’s pretty easy to defend right now. So why did you start a thread saying that it was almost impossible?
It’s actually pretty easy to defend now (assuming the structure in question is at least reinforced or fortified). ACs can be placed in a lot of spots that can’t be hit with AE to defend vs. catapults. If they put the catas out of AC range, you can usually counter cata/treb them. It actually favors the defenders IMO, but I guess that’s reasonable since it should be difficult to take an upgraded and actively defended structure.

Yep, they pretty much did a 180 on the original game design and a large percentage of the player-base hated it and cancelled their subs. No subscription in GW2 fortunately for Anet, so people will probably stick around a while longer to see what the WvW changes are.

And then they disable toys ‘cos 1 freakin’ toy can be exploited. So let’s just trash all of them, who needs them in wvw anyway~

Good and bad, but I think it would probably be slightly more bad than good. Standardized gear is great for small arena/PvPfights (1v1-5v5), but I think it’s better to let people experiment in WvW since it ranges from 1v1 to zergs. Getting better gear is part of the game design, so I’m pretty sure Anet would be against the idea in general (doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea though).
I guess the bandwagoning can be held partially responsible, but all that would have to happen to fix it is to adjust the RNG multiplier for a few weeks to force different matchups sometimes. Would be worth trying IMO if things don’t shift after HoT.
Escorting yaks is easy. If you apply any boon to them (such as swiftness) when you pass by, they give you progress to the achievement if they reach the destination.
That is not true. The Yak must be going to a keep, SM or Garrison, and you must be within range of the Yak for a certain period of time (seems to be around 90 secs, but I’ve never timed it).
Lol what a joke. Reset = 5am Sunday for OCX players and 2-3am Sunday for SEA players. Great job now 2 entire timezones probably won’t be able to play reset in addition to losing half the weekend of competitive WvW.

Don’t worry, most NA people won’t bother playing at reset either since it’s in the morning/middle of the day and you know, maybe, people have things to do during daylight hours. Evenings are when people generally head to their computers or TVs to relax, that’s why Friday evening was a great reset time (for OCX/SEA too). This change in day/time is a joke.
I don’t think people would give them grief — it would actually be much easier to explain to them why we usually let the Commander place siege. Its main benefit is that it would be very easy to know who was trolling, and people could look at the name of the person on the build site and know that they shouldn’t build it. Not everyone would pay attention obviously, but it would help.
If possible, include the name of the person who deployed the siege in the name of the siege build site.

ACs still seemed pretty useful for defense tonight. I don’t know if ACs are balanced though — too early to say maybe, not enough time to see how all the defensive AC spots work.

It’s a shame SBI and YB will never face off since we seem to be almost perfectly matched — 3rd place is going to go to whoever doesn’t fight HoD/FA last (which should be YB). So YB will beat SBI, but they will not have fought each other once the entire tournament (unless one of them is somehow able to beat FA, or loses to IoJ).
Sounds like YB is experiencing the exact same fairweather phenomenon that SBI is too. One week it’s karma training/bag farming, next week those same people are nowhere to be seen.
5:00 AM server, HoD ticking 415, YB 245, FA 35. I believe that is game, set, and match? Coverage is king.
Wow, that is a perfect example of why the skill cap in GW2 is the lowest of any MMO I have ever played. I swear you could get 25 chimpanzees to be in the top 10 GvG guilds in this game.

Maybe you’re just joking, I can’t tell, but if you can build more than a couple of golems, it’s no longer a havoc group. Most zergs don’t bring more than 3-5 golems unless they are well organized.
The battle to win Silver will be between FA and HoD — they are the only ones with respectable around the clock coverage (pretty sure YB is not queuing 4 maps, but I’d be interested to hear about their numbers and coverage). IoJ and SBI have significant periods where they are low on people and PPT — YB is probably the same way, but it won’t be noticeable until they fight the top 4 Silver servers (I think).
You might want to try and add “NA Rankings” there in the title if that’s the purpose of the thread.

As far as the topic of the thread goes, I’d guess FA will win, but hard to say until we know how many guilds are transferring off. IoJ, SBI, HoD should be in the top 4 — I’d probably give IoJ and HoD the edge over SBI because they have better coverage.
That is true, if DB stays in tier 3, they’ll gain points and FA will be stuck in Silver.
Pretty sure Mag and FA are safe — either of them can probably pull 25 rating out of the tier 3 matchup, and DB is probably going to lose 25 rating in tier 2, so FA should just pass DB with the 50 point swing.
So it’s up to DB, in the end. With their good coverage they’d be more valuable than FA in that spot if they came to fight. If they wobble, if their PuGs don’t show; we’ll push them down not out of cruelty, but because it’s the best thing for all involved.
DB has good coverage, but they are no match for SoS/FA/Mag. Maybe their coverage can keep them close on score (kind of doubt it to be honest), but they’ll get slaughtered by the organized guild groups on those 3 servers. Don’t think you’ll even need to double team them — Mag was able to do it by themselves in the DB/SBI/Mag matchup with no double teaming.
Good job on Thursday night/Friday morning, Maguuma. Fun matchup overall, although I was a bit disappointed that YB seemed to disappear after they were under a lot of pressure the first couple days.
Good job YB, you guys earned this victory — I know most of us on SBI do not condone the spying/siege destroying, etc. that went on (both sides), but it did not affect the outcome — YB won this matchup regardless . Well done to EB too who put up a good fight every night.

This is simply not true. BP does not have better coverage then NSP. We are just better at managing our forces.
You retake everything after primetime when SBI doesn’t even have a commander in EB. There is no commander let alone forces to manage… (overnight in NA timezones).
That’s not to say BP isn’t more organized during primetime, but SBI can at least compete on PPT during that period thanks to having enough commanders/players on.
I knew this new matchmaking system was pretty kittened, but this matchup is even worse than I expected. Not only is this week a complete waste of time for 2 of the servers involved, SBI is actually going to go up in rating while getting slaughtered in WvW — does anyone at ArenaNet have a degree in Mathematics? Maybe just someone with some High School level math?
