301 hearts?

Does anyone know where the 13th heart is in Bloodtide coast?
I have been looking all over the map and even googled it and I just cant find the last one.

Or is this a bug of some sort?
I hate leaving a zone before I got it 100% complete.

I have a few times gotten some good items form those chests, Best I ever got was a green item once, but only gotten that once and most of the time I only get boosts of some sort and the tonics.

The tonics you get for shape change I find totally useless.
It changes your form for 15 minutes to something useless and you cant even attack when shape changed.
I honestly dont see the point of them and would be just as happy if the did not exist.

As for the keys, I have only gotten them from story missions and a few very rare occasions I got them from a chest.
I’m not gonna buy them from the gem store as the items I get from the chests are not worth the price of the keys.

Takes too long to read through 250+ posts to see if this has been posted.

I would like an option to turn off all the hint/tutorial popup windows.
They are a pain in the rear and are only in my way.

I dont need to be told every time something happens with my character, especially not when I have done it several times before, I want to figure things out for myself.

Allow me to turn off all hints/tutorial windows, leave it as an option for those who want it.

I have noticed that some vendors around sells the basic starter gear, or at least gear that has the same looks.
Have you checked to see if some of them have the mask for you to buy?

There is a report function for it.
Its can be difficult to see.

When you open a mail, at the bottom where you have these buttons
Reply, Return to sender, and delete.
The the left of these buttons you should see a small circular button with an exclamation mark, kinda like this (!) Click that to report the mail

I think the ban for the Karma exploit was overdone.
They made a mistake and set the wrong value for the items, how the hell are the players supposed to know that the value is wrong?

And instead of fixing this issue, and perhaps do a a rollback, they proceed to ban thousands of players for doing something they had no way of knowing was an exploit.

After reading a large number of posts on the account forums here alone, I’m really starting to question Anets policy.

I keep getting the impression that players are banned for no reason at all and they get no informations as to what they did to get the ban, but instead tell players to read the TOS as if that will explain to players what they did to get the ban in the first place.

For me it has come to a point where I am actually expecting to have gotten a ban or suspension every time I log in, and find myself surprised when I can in fact log in and play.

There’s a very large difference between buying a weapon once while it was low karma for your own use and buying a boatload for pure exploitative purposes.

Well then explain to me this, hypothetical situation:

I see an item for a low amount of Karma, and proceed to buy a large number of them.

Please explain to me how I am supposed to know that the price of these items are not the right price?

Please explain to me how I am supposed to know that I am exploiting a glitch in the game when nobody has told me that it actually are a glitch?

Please explain to me why I should be punished with a 3 day suspension or permanent ban when Anet screwed up and set the wrong price on the item?

What they are doing is punishing me for their mistakes, which is totally wrong.
I have no way of knowing if it is a bug or not, and should not be punished for their mistakes.

Why do you think so many people come here to the forums asking why they were banned for doing it?
They didnt know it was an exploit, and as such get confused when they get punished for something they thought was a legitimate action.

Expect to wait at least a week before you can play again, possibly even more.
The sheer number of accounts thats been compromised has made them unable to keep up, and they are just fixing things as fast as they can.

I honestly find it surprising that you can ask why it takes so long at all.
Think about it, the sheer number of accounts that have been compromised have left Anet so swamped they are simply unable to keep to their promise of 72 hours.

I’m willing to bet that most the cases are from players who are stupid enough to use the same mail and password in other places as well

When people are stupid enough to use the same emails and password combos here as they use everywhere else, they are just asking for their accounts to be stolen.

I’m not saying everyone is, but I’m willing to bet that the majority of the players here have used the same mail and password as they have for a number of other games.

And some 3rd party that should never have that information have gotten their hands on this information from either another game, a website or through a keylogger that someone let get on their computer, and this is the result.

I’m sure they are working as fast as they humanly can, to fix this.
Those that have not lost their account yet should at the very least change their password, preferably their email too, before it happens to them to.

Unless you already have a unique email and password, or have already changed your password, for this game of course in which case you should be relatively safe.

You can never be 100% safe, but you can make it so difficult its not worth the effort to try and steal your account

Gonna play devils advocate here and ask some questions to those of you who keepo saying its the OP’s fault

Those of you who keep saying its the OPs fault, how do you know its his fault?
How do you know he did not get his account stolen and then had someone exploit a bug?

I know it sounds far fetched, but with the sheer number of accounts that have been reported “hacked” just here on the forums, how can you really be sure?

Dahgoth, if you can prove that it was not you, that your account was stolen and someone else did it, then you should send in a ticket and give them the informations.
Otherwise you will just have to accept that your account is closed

That sounds odd.

With all the incidents here lately, I have changed the password on my account no less than twice just to be on the safe side.
Used to be only Alphanumeric, but decided to add some special symbols as well for extra security.

Yeah that certainly changes things.
Since you didnt specify that in your OP I figured it could not hurt to ask.

Could be an error on Anets end that they closed they wrong account.
They are swamped with these issues right now and mistakes do happen, they are only human after all.

But I agree that they at the very least should give you a reason for why they did it.
I’m getting the impression they just suspend or ban account without so much as a word as to why it happens.

If you have not done so already I suggest you send them a ticket and ask them why it happened.
If its not cleared up you will then have a mark on your account from this incident, and you could then risk a permanent ban should something happen again.

Not saying it would happen, or that you have done anything wrong here, but better to be on the safe side and clear things up so you dont risk should something happen in the future.

Hope you get things sorted soon.

Been allot of account compromises with the launch of this game.
Could it be that someone accessed your account to use it for gold selling advertisements?

I understand your frustration, but if you have used the same email/password combinations here as you have in other games its most likely thats what happened.

Someone got your email and password from some other game and used it here to get access to your account, and then used your account to advertise for gold selling sites

Is this a bug that makes you unable to craft then or is it just that you have not found out how to do it?

The recipes for the armors you talk about have to be discovered by combining different pre-crafted parts.

I have used spybot S&D before, but since I recently bought a new computer I had not thought of installing it.

When I saw your post I figured I would install spybot again, but Instead of clicking any links I did a search for spybot and used that to get to the right site and got the software

To be honest it never even crossed my mind to click any of the links you provided, I just went ad searched for it instead.

Some people are lazy, so I just included the links to the appropriate websites — and lazy people usually don’t give it a second thought haha.

Well I have over the years been hearing allot about people getting their accounts hacked as well has had my share of phising in my inbox.
It has left me a little paranoid when it comes to clicking links, but I think thats just a good thing.

If I’m not sure about a link I just do a search for it instead.
As for phising mails I usually read them, but can usually spot them a mile away, and even if I think they are genuine I do it the safe way and dont click any links.

While I do think it is naive to assume that it is Anet’s fault automatically, I do think it is odd that people are being hacked so frequently, and it is the beginning of the launch of GW2, when they are most susceptible to hackers. And it would be easy for them to cover it up as well. If they said it didn’t happen, who would be the wiser?

I hate to burst your bubble, but I saw exactly the same problem with the launch of both Rift and SWTOR.
Thousands of players getting their accounts compromised in the first week after that game was launched.
I think its even more odd that it would happen with multiple games if the problem was with the company and not the player.

Just because you have been playing for 15 years without getting hacked does not mean it cant happen or that you didnt do anything to cause it.

Did you use the same email and password for all games?
Do you use the same password for your email and your game accounts?

They have a list of emails and password from other games that has been compromised, since it seems a significant number of players use the same email and password combo for all games.

Its not like this is rocket science, common sense will get you a long way.
Dual firewalls helps nothing if they already have your password and email.

They dont necessarily have to hack your account, they could have gotten the information in other ways.

In 95% of cases like this the problem is with the user, either because they are stupid enough to use the same mail/password combo everywhere, falling for phising mails or a number of other reasons.

But to outright state that the problem is with Anet with no proof whatsoever to support it is just stupid.

Like yourself I have never had any issues with account security in my 15+ years of gaming, not even with GW2, because I take my computer and account security seriously.

Despite having a unique password for GW2 I still decided to change that as well as my mail address just in case.

I have not gotten a single such mail since validating my mail.
I am 99% certain that the issue are not with Anet but with them getting your mail from some other site you have registered on with that mail.

That guy must really be naive, to think that just because lots of players get their accounts compromised, that it has to be a problem with Anet, is about as naive as you can get.

I have seen these kinds of unfounded statements made on the forums of other MMOs, they are usually made by people who are unable or unwilling to accept the fact that the problem is in fact on their end, and are just looking for a scapegoat

If it was the case that Anet had their system compromised they would be required to inform us of that.
And I have no reason to think that Anet has had any issues on their end in that regard.

Are all forms of converting karma to gold considered exploits?

If you use Karma to buy mats for crafting, then use those mats to craft something and then finally sell the crafted item to a vendor then I would think its good, because you used the mats for what they were intended.

What you do with the finished items is your business.

Abusing an incorrectly priced karma item and then selling it would get you banned no questions asked.

The ring you get are bound to the character.
But you get the ring(Heroes Band) and the Banker each time you make a new character.

As for any other thing you want to transfer between characters(account bound items or items that drops in the world) just put them in your bank, since you bank is shared across all characters.

My son had his account hacked Saturday and we filed a ticket right away with no reply so far. As for the ban thing I personally do not see anyone being banned for reasons that are not justified like exploiting. Perhaps these “bans” are hacked accounts that the player just thought were bans? I mean the only way we knew what happened was he was playing and it kicked him off line then said invalid email address. He checked his email and it said someone hopefully him had changed his email. Wish it had a verification in it or something seems like it was too easy to have it hacked. Poor kid he just lost a great uncle and this was his distraction. =( heres to hoping they get their act together on this hack thing soon!

First off my condolences on the loss, losing someone close is never easy.
My own very close and very dear grandmother passed away just a couple years ago so I know what its like.

As for the email stuff I have to agree, they really should send you a mail asking yo to confirm the change of email before its changed, not change it and then send a confirmation that its done.

I remember back when I played wow, if you changed the mail on you account, you would get a mail asking you to confirm the change BEFORE it was changed.

If Blizzard could do this, then why cant other MMOs follow up on this one simple yet very effective security measure?

well he the hacker hasn’t been banned to my knowledge. hes swapped to 4diffrent servers and is currently on a EU server (so says my friends list)

And thats the part that I find most surprising.
The account has been reported as stolen yet the hacker can keep playing without the account being closed, while others get the accounts banned for saying no reason at all.

Not before posting on the forums do they get a vague description of the possible reason.
Sure they dont discuss banned accounts on the forums, but they could at least send a mail to the account owner telling them why they have been banned, not just ban their account and then nothing.

Personally I have gotten to a point where I dont log on anymore, because I honestly fear that I will get banned for something or other even if I nothing wrong.

If I didnt know better I would say they do random bans hoping that it will get players on their toes about what they do at all times.

I feel for you Sneakster, I’m honestly surprised that the guy can keep playing.
And then to have the Audacity to reply and admit he did hack the account?

Some hackers do it just because they can and because the find it entertaining or even amusing to grief others with their actions.

And I would even think that some do it because they want to play the game, but dont want to buy the game so they steal a legitimate players account instead.

I hope you get that account back soon, and that Anet get this crap under control ASAP.

I have seen so many threads here about these account bans that I really have to wonder what the heck is going on over at Anet.

Players gets banned apparently at random for no reason at all and dont even get so much as a single word of explanation as to why they have been banned.
I even heard stories about how players has been banned for defending another players view on WOW.
I mean whats the point int that?

And then I see posts like the OP here where his or someone he knows account has been hacked and the one who hacked the account can keep playing with no action taken.

Not to mention that there has been a significant amount of ingame bugs and issues that has left players frustrated and angry.

I dont know what Anet is up to but they really need to get their act together soon or players will leave in droves.

I dont know about others but I have already changed both the password and email for this account just to make sure I have done everything I can to secure it.

My personal opinion is that this game could have used at least another month if not two inn beta to address many of the ingame issues.

As for the ban hammer, they really need to stop put it down for a while and give the players a break.

A lot of people have said they have been ‘banned for no reason’, but in the end, ArenaNet found the reason and they have either been total badmen in chat, or their name was rather offensive.

Also, your account might have been attacked by a goldseller, and ArenaNet have banned it for secure reasons. Write a ticket to support and they will fix it.

Now, i’m not saying that any of you have been badmen in chat, got offensive names, or your account is being targeted by gold sellers, but it’s been too many ‘banned for no reason’ and there actually is a reason.

A ridiculous justification.
Obviously they did not do anything wrong or they would not be posting here.
Nobody that abused and exploit would have the audacity to come here and cry about being banned.

There are plenty of players who would knowingly abuse an exploit and then come here sand say they have been banned for no reason.

I have seen it in other games, where players have knowingly abused an exploit and then come to the forums and complained about it after they had their account either suspended or rolled back for doing so, saying they did nothing wrong.

As for Anet banning players without telling them why.
I find it hard to believe they would do that, but if they do it then there is something very wrong here.

I don’t know what your gaming experience is; nor do I care for what other communities you have been in to determine your said familiarity on this subject. As far as I know, that is all hearsay and uncredited. Sorry, but my point still stands. Over 50 posts on unwarranted account bans I will dare say that 10% in those are really unwarranted. Maybe you have not played GW1, but after that experience with Anet. Anything is possible.

Gonna do an amendment of my previous post as I seem to have caused some confusion here.

It was not my intention to say that these posts are not real or that its not happening.
What I was trying to say was that even though it may only be a very small percentage of the total number of issues, I would not put it past some players to actually do what I said.

I did actually play GW1, though it was long ago.
But that dont mean its not a possibility that some players might actually feign innocence despite being guilty.

I do agree that the problem is far too widespread for this to be of any significance, but to say that its not happening is just being naive.

GW2 is brand new, and similar enough to many other MMOs that many players who are tired of those other games have come here, taking with them their bad and even unwanted habits from those other games.
