Something over 5k in PvP.
My experience was that playing elemantalist at level 70+ (75+) zones is a nightmare.
Either I had glass cannon build and was 2-shotted (DoTted in a few seconds, chain stun-huge hamaged) or I went tank/healing spec and every fight takes an eternity. In order to kill a mob I had to switch attunements many times. My guess is 10+ times. In comparison Warrior charged in, did his 100 blades or whatever it is and enemy was dead in max 10 seconds. I understand there are ways to customize build with utility skills, gear, traits, but I fail to see the point why it should be okay that I am 2-shotted (3-shotted in earth + water spec) while it takes me eternity to kill a mob. In level 70+ zones many mobs are chain aggroed in groups. Many have ranged abilities and/or dot’s. And it’s not fun to play survival run with every group. Respawn rates are faster than I can kill mobs. Not fun either when I clear mobs near a node, I mine and have to fight my way back again. I started playing elementalist because I liked the idea to be versatile. But versatile turned into have-to-switch-attunements-all-the-time-in-order-to-barely survive.
I prefer playing with two daggers. I don’t have problem in PvP, in fact I win majority of 1v1 fight, I am often able to hold my ground against two opponents but it’s common that I die in endgame zones downed by 3+ enemies who chain aggroed and I wasn’t able to escape them. You may argue that elementalist is about avoiding damage. But that doesn’t work either.
Enemy attacks and gets me to 20% in it’s opener. Dodge-Switch to Water-Dodge-Healing ability-Water spells, Earth and it’s cc/defense.. and then slowly up with occational Fire and Electricity to put in some damage when health goes to a decet level.
Playing elementalist (in PvE) has continually degraded from fun to a nightmare. I no longer like playing PvE with elementalist but that doesn’t mean I want to play warrior, thief or guardian instead. I would rather play elementalist that is fun to play.
High level PvE zones and elementalist certainly DO need further balancing.
This was was taken recently. I’ll probably change colors later on if I decide to stay with elementalist.

You don’t have to spam the whole map area to hear you. Go to near the instance entrance and use /lfg command and speak in /say channel.

I can’t find a group now.
I typed 3 messages on /map each about 5 minutes apart “Looking for Arah story” and now I can’t use even /say because of my excessive usage?
You need to look into this.
Or give us tools to group for dungeon. A finder that works area-wide would solve it. Just sign up and wait until enough ppl subscribe.
Same here. NPCs stand and do nothing after I kill the Abomination in front of the cave enterance.

please revisit level 70+ areas and story quests particulary with elementalist profession.
The game feels like beta beta right now.
Problems to address:
1.) Npc enemies (mobs) able to 2-shot me or kill me in very short time, this damage is often unavoidable – ranged, damage over time, stun combined with high damage while enemy is immune to stun, chill, throwdown and following me constantly.
2.) Many bigger fights in storylines have these 2 scenarios:
a) I kill enemies one-by-one. My NPC allies die before I can kill enough enemies and I have 6+ enemies on me. (This was true in full fire-lightning 2x dagger spec too).
b) I use AoE damage and most enemies go after me while my NPC allies are locked in eternal combat with some NPC not able to kill it and. Basically I ahve 6+ mobs on me again.
I could forgive an occational oversight but this is a problem I constantly ran into in level 70+ zones and story quests.
Getting more vitality and/or toughness does help a bit in zones but the fights become prolonged and quickly boring.
Please let someone from your team revisit these areas and reevaluate how things work.

Thank you all for your help. I tried dual daggers again but it was somewhat better but ulitmately the same story all over again.
Today has been a nightmare. Constantly downed/killed by hordes of enemies.
In my last fight I got stuck in a helicopter, downed 3 or 4 times and when some people miraculously showed up and started reviving me (thank you :-) ), the game froze. I am not enjoying GW2 anymore. I’ll return to it later.

I got stuck on 36k xp too. Then I just sat all day long without logging out and I got it. I think the count resets (when you log out or at certain time).
I have not gained any elite underwater skill yet. I am level 76 elementalist. I believe there is none.
I am having real trouble with elementalist right now. I hit level 70+ and I started dying very often. I suggest you avoid it unless you are hellbent to play a mage and go against the odds with your brilliant grasp of profession and play.

after hitting about level 70 I started to have serious trouble surviving with my elementalist. This is especially true in character story instances.
This is a typical scenario: I usually have some NPC help. We get attacked. I can either try to single target kill enemies but if I try that my NPC allies die before I can kill enough enemies and I am facing 4+ mobs. If I do AoE enemis go after me and fight becomes a survival run for me with many mobs pounding me, allies not really helping and me trying to outmaneuver several mobs. They are usually doing huge damage – it’s normal that mobs eat 1/3 of my life with one hit easily. Some more extreme go as far as 70-80 percent per hit. Almost every mistake means me being downed. It’s becoming common that I have to reset the fight by running away, often using the vapor form while being downed to get away enough.
Can someone who actually played elementalist give me advice what weapon they use at 70+ and what traits? I have not had any real issues until level 70 and I was using dual daggers.
I played 2x daggers with water + earth. Then I switched to 2x daggers with fire + air. Then I tried variants with scepter + dagger, scepter + focus, dagger + focus.
I see a problem in low damage and the fact that mobility is not helping me anymore. While I have somewhat outdated gear it shouldn’t be tragic. I consider myself a skilled player.
Here is what I see as major problems:
2x dagger: Really nice to play but Risen just follow me and pound me no matter what cc I throw at them. Maneuvring does not help anymore – I am getting damaged all the time no matter what I do.
Dagger + focus: Focus does not increase defense enough to justify the decrease in modility and dps.
Scepter: Useless. You either jump around batlefield, cc enemy and shoot them from afar which I can’t do with scepter since cc don’t work, I have to face enemies and the damage I am able to put out during the few seconds while my ccs are in place is ridiculously lowm or you just stand there and take it from enemy hoping to kill them before they kill you (you can’t do this with elementalist).
Staff: Seemsed to work for some time but when I am faced witha mix of meelee and ranged enemies I am dead.
I find my healing abilities extremly weak. It’s almost not worth switching to water attunement for healing. The only reason why I switch there is for elemental harmony regeneration bonus and chill effect.
I usually use 2 arcane skills, Elemental as elite – I use it while in water to get water elemental. For healing I use elemental harmony.
