So making daily not only optional but imposable to reach the goal you have set for your self.
This kind of exaggeration is only hurting your argument. Alts are an excellent example of what is wrong with Ascended gear. It is easier and faster to raid gear an alt in a hardcore gear treadmill game then it is to put your GW2 alt in Ascended gear.
You are confusing the words tedious with difficult. No one has tried to imply that the dailys are too “hard” to complete. So the fact you keep trying to argue agaisnt that and tell us it is easy makes your argument all the more pointless.
Please pay attention. The dailys “options” were supposed to let us play how we wanted to play. I’m glad you enjoy playing all your alts and doing overland content, there is nothing wrong with that, no one thinks you shouldnt want to do that. But myself and many other people have already completed all that content on one if not more characters.
Doing solo content is extremely boring, yet the dailys force us to not only do it, but do it daily. So after we spend 2 hours playing group content that we find fun (dungeons), we have to keep and keep playing the boring solo content to progress.
So unless you want to make a ridiculously inane statement about how we can group up to craft please realize there is allot of other stuff to do in the game, that other people actually want to do, and we don’t want to have to tack 30 minutes onto our gameplay every day because the “daily” doesn’t match your personal style of solo gameplay
The color doesn’t bother me at all. I just think of it as power from the mists since all the mist themed weapons are like a purple smoke.
I do however dislike the butterflies. If someone was really trying to fight for their life and they casted a spell that made butterflies flutter around it would be pathetic and comical.
Konig, just FYI, unlike everyone else your posts come off as very argumentative, I hope that isn’t your intent.
after all, Zhaitan only corrupts corpses so you can’t die if you’re already dead (and Primordus/DSD have shown no intention of corrupting living beings, though on the latter it’s more due to lack of information) – and from the game we know that Zhaitan’s included in that immunity.
This statement is not true. The human storyline has a part about Zhaitan corrupting a guard who was not dead but the undead followed him after he was cursed/corrupted.
I’m not sure what DSD stands for but Primordus did corrupt living things, he corrupted the Great Destroyer.
I think I see the issue here, I tried to address the issues you presented as if you were reasonable.
Wrong, the only argument that you or any else has presented is that everyone should be doing nothing except overland content because that is where the dailys are done at. Trust me, I know the easiest and fastest way of doing them all.
The point is that why do they ever offer any other content in the game dungeons/fractals/pvp if all the time we spend there is irrelevant unless we spend even more time playing so we can run around other zones to get the daily done. I’ve completed them all, I don’t want to run around anymore, I have done it on two toons.
I’m glad you are done wasting your time since you obviously aren’t spending it doing anything except playing overland content.
You obviously didn’t read my entire post. I suppose I cannot blame you considering how long it is.
This is accomplished by only having to do 5/9 achievements. I’ll address how easy getting these 5 is from only 1 playstyle later on.
Wrong. Sometimes all I want to do is farm dungeon tokens, which if anything only does 1/9 or part of 1/9.
Log on a low level alt and craft on them. Even if you play the alt, meaning it isn’t in LA: you’d still only be paying less than a silver to WP back.
You completely ignored the part about me not wanting to have to play alts to do the daily.
You’ve completely imagined this problem. If your bank is full then just TP the goods.
You completely missed the point, getting rid of the harvestables isn’t the problem. Its the tedium of doing it when I do not want to, and on an alt I dont want to be playing.
This is 1 of 9 achievements. Do 5 of 8 of the remaining ones.
As I already said I can list something wrong with all nine and the fact that none of them are completable simply by the one or two hours I already spent doing dungeons.
This is 1 of 8 of the remaining ones. Do 5 of the other 7.
See above.
And how can you possibly justify whining about not wanting to do something you’ve never even tried? You might love Keg Brawl yet you whine about being *forced** to do it. What is wrong with you?*
Because, like any of the other dailys its something I would have allot more time playing to do. After I already spent 2 hours doing dungeons I shouldnt be forced to go spend doing however much time keg brawl takes.
One is always kills which you get by wandering through a zone for 5 minutes. One is events which should be run in to while wandering. Gathering is always one, and apart from you making up insane reasons that you cannot do it, it’s the easiest one.
The other two involve crafting
Ok so I should stop running dungeons because the developers want me to spend all my time doing that?
or require logging on to an alt.
I dont want to play alts
The claims made by you and other posters are literally insane. You’ve created a fantasy world where you’re a victim of mental bullying by purposefully avoiding thinking about solutions to extremely simple tasks.
Your response is extreme. My not wanting to play anymore then the 2 hours I spent in a dungeon is called having a life.
Why do people hate dailys? Because its pretty much the most hardcore grind of any game ever; and I played the original Everquest. Even in all my days of raiding I never heard of anything as hardcore as this. Guild Wars 2 takes a month of grinding dailys just to get a SINGLE piece of gear, in that time you don’t even get the ecto that is also required for some pieces, just the laurels.
I didn’t want to have to make a complaint thread; I thought the forum already had enough already. Besides, they were going to implement new optional dailys so I thought the developers were actually listening. I was wrong; the new dailys are just as bad.
All I want to do is play the game my way. Sometimes I just want to do some dungeon runs for tokens but even after 3 runs all I get toward the daily are 5 mobs for the kill variety. Meaning that everyday I have to add 30+ mins to my allotted play time to run around and work on the daily.
Crafting, like many of the dailys it requires that I waypoint someplace that I don’t want to be and back again. I spend more money waypointing to work on the daily that I get back from actually doing the daily. The money spent waypointing isn’t even as annoying as the feeling of feeling like that I am staring at loading screens.
Gathering; All my toons bags are overflowing with random junk harvestables because my stacks are maxed out. Which is my only option unless I want to spend hours running around Orr trying to get the high level ones. So instead I usually have to switch to some alt I don’t want to play because I don’t have time for that.
WvW; I thought they listened to how much people hated that when they took it out of the monthly.
Keg Brawl? I dont even know what or where that is and nor do I intend to bore myself to death spending even more time reading the wiki.
Underwater kills; yeah 80% of the bodies of water in this game don’t even have enough mobs to accomplish this. At least not since they disabled the 1 shot kill npcs from contributing toward its completion.
I could go on and on about each individual one but there isn’t enough room. The point is sometimes all I want to do is log in and farm my dungeon tokens, which doing daily is already pretty kitten hardcore.
Then after my grind the game bugs out and I don’t even get my daily reward. A bug that was even confirmed in the patch notes. So I make a help ticket only to hear sorry there is nothing they can do…
Constructive Criticism.
People should be able to do the dailys in one zone. Without having to go tradeskill, find water, etc.
Make a seperate WvW, Crafter, Dungeon and Overland daily, and let people choose which one they want to do.
The WvW is easy, just pretty much keep what you have, let people get kills, work on events inside of WvW. This daily should reward tokens of honor or whatever those WvW tokens are called.
Crafting Daily, for toons or people inside of towns. Just add more items. Idealy improve the crafting system entirely by adding some new in-town quests. Let people do some daily crafting quest that rewards basic crafting supplies or karma to buy crafting supplies. These new crafting events/quests can be required in the daily.
Overland Daily. Pretty much what the daily is now except no wvw, no crafting, none of the BS. This daily should reward a ton of extra experience, making it perfect for leveling alts; at least equal amount of completing a dungeon if not more.
Dungeon Daily. If you add 3 dungeon explorables to a daily its pretty much want every dungeon runner wants to do anyway and it will help keep groups together instead of the person that always leave after one path. If you require in dungeon kills you can also help solve the problem with speed clears. This daily should reward dungeon tokens if your choice.
Idealy the laurels will be removed from the daily entirely because the time frame is the most insanely hardcore stuff ever. The developers don’t even have the decency to tell us if Ascended gear will be the last tier of armor or not. If its not I am sure everyone would rather buy dye and other stuff with their laurels. Put ascended gear into crafting, random fractal drops. Anything but the daily.

I admit that before the game was released I both wanted and expected mounts. I expected them becuase they said the main reason they were making GW2 was becuase the GW1 engine couldn’t do what they wanted to do; and then they gave us all the cool concept art of the guy riding a giant beatle and the golem carrying the Asura.
However once I actually got to play the game I realized it was not at all designed for mounts and I would actually hate if they did add mounts.
I feel certain that they will never add mounts to GW2 for the simple fact that mounts would disable the “dodge” mechanic which is supposed to be a core feature of the game.
Because the Sylvari are not mere dragon minions, beings simply corrupted by a dragon. They are from the pale tree a being which if is part of a dragon implies why dragons cannot corrupt part of another dragon.
2) You do realize that the only way known to disconnect a dragon minion from their Elder Dragons’ control is to sever the mental connection, right? Ventari’s influence couldn’t do this.
Wrong, Glint is proof that a dragon champion is not under direct control of the dragon and still has free will, thus the Pale Tree can choose to do good.
3) Sylvari are immune to dragon corruption, however, dragon minions are not immune to other dragons’ corruption.
Personally this only strengthens my theory, we only think Sylvari are immune due to the fact that they are immune to corruption from other dragons, but not immune to corruption from the dragon that created them.
I don’t mind steampunk, especially clockwork stuff. But some of the “technology” is just way beyond steampunk.
Submarines, Helicopters, Motocycles, Cars, Tanks, Etc is just way over the top and I have had woes over it. At least with the Asura technology like golems and holograms we would always pretend it was powered by magic which was good enough for me. But I pretty much hate all the Charr and Pact technology.
From the wiki………http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sylvari
Ronan, a human soldier, found the fist-sized seed of the pale tree in a cave.
It’s hard to say since their origins have changed, they were originally going to be a new elf race in an expansion for the original Guild Wars.
My personal theory however that ties them into Guild Wars 2…..The Pale Tree is a dragon champion. Namely a champion of Mordremoth.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mordremoth
I believe that it was Ventari’s influence that caused the Pale Tree to be good instead of the natural evil they were intended to be; I also believe this is the reason that so many Sylvari turn into the nightmare court; because nightmare was their original purpose.
Whenever they get around to adding this elder dragon it is possible that there may be other trees such as the pale tree on another continent giving birth to evil Sylvari. Or perhaps once this elder dragon awakes he will try to turn all the Sylvari into nightmare court.
Utopia looked good, it was an aztec themed jungle; but instead they used it for the asura architecture and zones
The question was obviously not a literal one about the game mechanics, its a lore question. Unfortunately, like every game with resurrection, there are inevitable plot holes . In the original Guild Wars for example, the monks performed resurrections but they can only rez the players. There is no lore what so ever explaining why other people completely die. You can only assume its because their spirit went to the Mists and did not want to return to the body. Or perhaps its because we are supposed to pretend that if the body takes too much damage that it can’t be resurrected.
There is no good way to have resurrection in a game and an explanation as to why each and every random npc in history may not have been resurrected. Perhaps its because they died of old age.
This was especially annoying in the original Guild Wars, when resurrection existed in the lore yet there were no attempts to explain why you couldn’t simply rez the NPC you were trying to guide through the mission. In fact, a necromancer could turn a dead player into an undead minion and then after that the player could be still be resurrected; it was like a constant retcon.

You are forgetting that it was Abaddon that gave humans magic and that he was imprisoned by the other gods for doing so. If the gods magic came from the dragons then that means all human magic also comes from Dragons yet the humans powers have not weakened or been cut off by the dragons rising.
It’s possible the reason the Gods did not want Abaddon to give man magic is because they knew of the danger it would put them in once the dragons awoke. That may also be the reason the Gods took magic away from the Juton, to protect them from the dragons.
The idea behind town clothes is good, but the execution is off. Besides the issue of not wearing the cash shop skins with armor, you can’t change your town clothes. Everyone looks the same except for dye and basic character aesthetics.
I agree. They have completely failed to follow through with the idea properly. Now we have more “fun” clothes/items for non town clothes; such as the holiday weapon skins. The lack of being able to dye items such as the wizard hat makes town clothes a big mix-match problem.
At this point I wish they could just get rid of the entire town clothes system. It’s so annoying being automatically switched back to combat gear every time I touch water or interact with a holiday item in town.
It’s not only the leveling. Its the full exotics I would have to replace and all the dungeon grinding I would have to repeat. It would be a very tedious and unpleasant experience to have to suffer only because I had no way of making an informed choice when I original created my characters.
No the different size presents have different loot. For example the giant ones have a chance of dropping magical stuffing/glue that I can use to get a tonic I want. As where the small presents that drop for my alts do not. You can see what all the different size presents contain here.
Those are some interesting ideas. I would like it if the supply system was revamped a little bit in order to make things like that possible. Perhaps allowing guilds to spend influence to buy supply, or buy supply carts they could take to a location, or perhaps upgrade individual members to be “carriers”. Supply Carriers could hold extra supply and guildees could take supply from them while out in the field.
I saw all these threads complaining about how bad Toypoclypse was before I had the chance to log in and play it. I thought everyone was just being dramatic or something; I had been enjoying Wintersday so far and I didn’t think a random group was that big of a deal.
But once I actually tried it I was very very dissapointed. A single person in group runs up and starts the event while people are still loading in, causing 3 of the dolyaks to die on the first round. The gameplay was not fun; in fact it was various tedious feeling placing all those items, and after 5 rounds I was already bored of it.
When the game first came out I was forced to choose my personal story with no information and nothing but a vague/random choice at character creation. Now that I know what stories those options actually provide I am no longer content with my original choices.
Currently my only options are to be permanently ill-content with my choice or delete and remake my characters and spend months leveling up again. Both are very aggravating options.
I realize there are allot of complications with allowing a change such as this. Such as the achievements and rewards already given. But I would be completely happy sacrificing everything I got and playing the story from the start all over again if I got change those starting options.
I agree. The problem with WvW is that it is not being played the way it was designed/intended.
It’s obvious that they expected guilds to claim the towers and forts. That those guilds would then stay and defend those locations and spend the money to upgrade them.
That simply does not happen and maybe never will. With nothing but a few useless NPCs to guard, no guild is going to spend the money or time defending a single location that will just get taken from them during offline hours. Not to mention that defending a single location will most likely be extremely boring.
WvW is not as large as I think the developers think it is. A single waypoint does not discourage people from wanting to play defense and avoid dying. WvW needs harsher punishment for dying. Perhaps a longer respawn time, forcing people to revive each other. Also, guilds might be more inclined to claim and defend locations if they were given better reasons for doing so. Perhaps something such as a waypoint at said location that only their guild can use?
I have been wanting to play and level my alts; but because they are lower level they can only get “small” presents. This makes me feel as though I need play my main character instead because all his drops would be “giant” presents.
Please reconsider this, if the presents sizes are nearly meaningless then get rid of the different kinds. Make it so that there is only one size/type of present and adjust the drops accordingly.
Once it turned day I noticed there are some other texture problems as well. The gold chain and gold buttons on my shirt turned into a white/red stripes. There are also a red necklace and a red gem that hangs on the gold chain that both turned white.
After the patch this afternoon; I logged back in to discover an odd graphic problem with my shoes. I attached a screenshot for reference.
There appears to be some sort of diamond shaped shin graphic attached to my shoes that was not there before. You can see my inventory window still renders the shoes the way they originally looked. It’s very odd.
