Hey Klinch, what time do you play and in what time zone? My group just started building a sPvP team yesterday and we play on vent. Maybe we can add each other and get some games going if either of us need some people?

We’re a PvX/WvW guild and run a tight, friendly, and active group. We’re barely a week with ~27 members. Many of us played GW1 and have unlocked HoM achievements. Voice chat is not required in our guild, as most things can be well coordinated quickly with some awareness, pinging, and chat. If you’re interested, give us a shout!

[IoJ] Love and War [PvX/WvW] Highly Active Guild LF Dedicated Members
in Guilds

Our new, but highly active guild (1 week old, 25 members) is looking for a few more core, dedicated players to join our tight, friendly crowd. We’re especially looking for PvX players with a big emphasis on WvW, as we plan to have a big presence in WvW. It’s also the perfect time to join our guild – we’re new, making it easier to fit in and carve out your own role, but with the hardest part of a founding a guild out of the way (surviving the conception, finding some core members, upgrading essentials like the guild workshop, bank, armorer, etc.).
Our players are NA based and many of us are in college, recent grads, or are young, working adults, so we’re a mature crowd. Despite having lives, we are full of experienced gamers and MMO players, some with HoM achievements, and we are working to build a semi-hardcore guild, but in a casual manner.
Our rules are simple and straightforward – be active, continuously strive to learn and improve, be able to hold your own, and help out and contribute to the guild – the basics of any great guild. We’re also a very tight, friendly group, and are looking for people who will fit well with our group. Despite having a positive culture, our members are also competitive and are working towards building a top guild.
Members are encourage to play the way they know best and specialize in their field. Whether it’s WvW, PvP, dungeons, crafting, or playing the market, there are many ways to play and even more ways for members to contribute in their own way. Essentially, our only requirement is to be an awesome, dedicated guild member – your playstyle, gaming history, current GW2 progress , or real-life orientation need not matter. If this sounds right for you, then we welcome you to join us and make our guild your home!
We do have voice communication options available, especially for WvW. For WvW, our guild focuses either on tactical strike teams or coordinating an assault with our allies. We tend to rely less on zerging and more on adapting to the current war situation. Our guild has also recently joined the Isle of Janthir Council alliance.
- Note that while optional, we strongly prefer players to have a mic available for organized events, such as for the tougher dungeons and big WvW runs.

Hey Exavion, if you’re still looking at candidates, then check out our PvX -> WvW guild, Love and War (http://www.reddit.com/r/guildrecruitment/comments/zvz61/gw2pvxwvwjanthirnew_guild_love_and_war_gathering/).
We’re absolutely looking for members like your group. We’re in Isle of Janthir and we’re a fairly new guild (~25 members, barely a week old) – perfect time to join and become core members. We also have some reliable allies and recently join the Isle of Janthir Council. We’re highly competent in WvW, despite our small numbers (we rely more on tactical strike teams and less on zerging).
We’re all college students, recent grads, or working adults (most in our 20s, NA group) and we’re super active since we’re specifically recruiting active members rather, opposed to mass recruiting in game. We usually PvE/dungeon during the day and WvW during later hours. We don’t require the use of voice chat, but it absolutely is available, especially for WvW.
We’re a tight group, so you’ll find us friendly and above all, fun. We also don’t mind if our members like to step up, such as forming dungeon parties, sPvP teams, or organizing guild activities. A few of us were from big guilds where we were easily drowned out. This won’t happen here.
As for forums, we’re new and just started on a website, but this should show you we’re serious and are heading towards the right direction: http://loveandwar.shivtr.com/
If you and your friends are interested in helping us start a great, active guild, then give me a shout – here or in game!

Hey Leopold, it looks like you have a lot of great choices here. This post may get drowned out, especially because we’re missing one of your criteria, but our group may be worth a look.
Our guild, Love and War, is a new guild – so we’re not going to have 20+ actives on at all times. We only have about 23 members. However, our members are active.
That is what I can promise you, and that is why I was interested in your post. We’re highly active and almost all of us are in our 20s. We all have lives (college or work), but we play a few hours every night.
Since we’re new, you and your friends will fit right in and also influence the direction, on what you want from our guild and how you want to play this game. We’re a tight group, laid back, but also competitive. We’re PvX and we’re highly interested in some WvW after gearing up (we’re already in an alliance). If you’re interested, give me a shout!

Mimejuice, I’m very interested in having you join us at Love and War. We’re a new, but very active guild looking for a few more core members. From your description, it sounds like you’ll be both needed and also a perfect fit for our guild. Here’s why:
1. We’re a mature and friendly crowd – all college students, recent grads, or working
2. Highly active, despite commitments, but no nonsense or strict rules that’ll interfere with the real world – also have many necessities locked or being locked (guild bank, armory, etc.) and been upgrading nonstop (currently earning more inf. points than we can use)
3. Our rules are simple – be active, hold your own, contribute and help others, and strive to improve
4. LGBT and women friendly. We already have both – two are my real life friends
5. Semi-hardcore, PvX, and working to have a strong presence in WvW
6. Although it’s not regular yet, we do have a few voice communication information in place, especially for private runs, sPvP, and WvW
One counterpoint is that we are on another server – Isle of Janthir. However, this will be worth the effort as we’re committed to building a great guild.
Another quality of our guild is our members are encourage to set their own path and contribute in their own way. We’re not a guild with a hierarchy set in stone. There are opportunities to seek a desired position here, or close to it. As we’re a new guild, it really is a perfect time to join in and become one of the core members.
If you’d like more info, we made a reddit post for recruitment: http://www.reddit.com/r/guildrecruitment/comments/zvz61/gw2pvxwvwjanthirnew_guild_love_and_war_gathering/
We are also part of the Isle of Janthir alliance: http://isleofjanthir.us/forum_threads/1243885
Hope you’ll be interested!
I strongly doubt that these are casual players applauding this recent change. This change hurts casual players and smaller guilds. This change absolutely benefits established players and powerful guilds – many from other MMOs, which is already a huge advantage over normal players and guilds formed within GW2.
A huge, established guild have no issues imposing member dues or pooling and buying guild related items, such as the commander book. After all, 100g for each character? Even for just one or two leaders is too much. Even with the pre-dungeon changes, it would take months to acquire one normally (as in only saving a couple of gold per day. Perhaps much sooner if the player is doing nothing else (e.g. exploring the map, guild activities, stories, leveling new characters, WvW, buying other items, crafting, having a job, having a life, etc.). And what if a typical player wanted to do some personal things, such as acquire a legendary?
To top it all off, even a non-typical, semi/hardcore players may run into this issue. Established elites and top guilds will flourish, either way. Better if no more can come near them.
Some of these patches are unintentionally benefiting a small group, mostly botters who don’t really care if things take a bit longer, hardcore players that already grinded almost everything they wanted, and a lucky few who hoarded up karma items, such as cultural items and butter, before a patch.
The latest dungeon changes make this game even more of a grind and really takes out a lot of the fun – of randomly meeting new friends and just completing some run – even having some breathing room to mess around.
Patch notes – Sept. 17th, 2012
*Added a system to limit the experience and gold that players can receive from speed-farming dungeons.
Dungeon runs not only requires an active, competent team, but don’t have the benefit of mass drops and karma points – not to mention the safety of the zerg. It’s far easier to gain valuable loots, rare drops, rare crafting materials, and hundred and thousands of karma with looping dynamic events.
A nerf to a dungeon is an unintended punishment to active players, particularly those who like to play in a party or with guild mates. There were only two dungeons that can be cleared quickly, and even that’s too few (as in there should be more fun dungeons) as the rewards are mostly for the experience and a bit of silver – far less than Orr farming or botting.
In addition, the latest nerf discourages random partying, or at least forces players to find a specific composition because there is no longer a fair margin for error. This forces players to find a new trinity and discourages players from just having fun with others/easily making new friends.
Dear Anet staff, please take another look at this and consider a reversal of this latest move. Thank you.

Most guardians seem to carry a staff in their inventory to compensate, and switch before a fight. Works pretty well, unless you get ambushed/attacked first.
I wonder how the hammer will be improved. Sounds like good news!
Even better is if you guys at Anet decide to give the Guardian’s ranged weapons some love! Then guardians can be more than support/sitting ducks in WvW sieges (esp. will elite skills nerfed). Guardian’s staff is mostly for the limited support skills (weakest dps weapon for guardian). Ward, the speed buff, or empower (which is more for support, doesn’t last long enough for guardian to use if switched weapons or casting 3/5 for support right after). Mostly the speed buff, since guardians have few speed buff options with low cd.
Scepter for range is a better option, but is still a mid ranged option and its spells are meant for gap closing, leading to melee.
