Hi Jtor,
have you tried the TgUpdate instructions yet? Also, please delete your Guild Wars 2 folder from /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support.

Thanks for the update. Is there a chance that you could try another computer and/or logging in to the GW2 client from Windows environment via Bootcamp?
Not that I am assuming there are typo’s in your password/username and sorry if you have already tried this. Could you try typing in your account name (usually an email address) and password separately into the TextEdit app in Mac, then copying and pasting each into the respective fields?

Hi BlackPrince,
sorry to hear you are having trouble. I am not sure if this was already suggested to you, but please remove the following folders which store your account login information and other settings for the game client. Do not delete the actual game client file from the default location of /Applications or wherever it has been installed to.
After deleting the folders, please try logging in again.
Note: the path to folder in this message is supposed to be in one line, but the forum message formatting may break it up into multiple lines.
Folders to remove (in quotation marks):
1. “Guild Wars 2” folder in /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support
2. “Guild Wars 2” folder in /Users/yourusername/Documents
3. “com.transgaming.guildwars2” in /Users/yourusername/Library/Caches
4. “com.transgaming.tginstall-guildwars2-shipping” in /Users/yourusername/Library/Caches
5. “com.transgaming.guildwars2.plist” in /Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences
Good luck! Please let me know if this did or did not work.
Zoe, thanks for the update. Sorry to hear that graphics settings change did not work. Glad you got it resolved by deleting the Guild Wars 2 folder.
Hi Zoe and Vampirate,
this error could be related to your graphics card. Shortly before this error occurs, what are you doing? WvWvW, largely populated areas, PVE in open world with no-one in sight? What are your computer specs?
Could you try setting your graphics options to the following and let me know if the crashes continue to occur?
Animation: Low
Antialiasing: None
Environment : Low
LOD Distance: Low
Reflections: None
Textures: Low
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: None
Shaders: Medium
Postprocessing: Low
Character Model Limit: Medium
Character Model Quality: Low
Only Depth Blur and Effect LOD are checked.
Thanks J Night. The latest crash I see in the log is from Dec 16. Could you try deleting the entire log file and then run the GW2 client again until it crashes? Then if possible, could you post that crash log as well?
What are your current Graphics Options in GW2? Please list all the settings.
My partner has pretty much exactly same hardware (in her case the GPU has 4 GB) and turning down the graphics options to the following worked:
Animation: Low
Antialiasing: None
Environment : Low
LOD Distance: Low
Reflections: None
Textures: Low
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: None
Shaders: Medium
Postprocessing: Low
Character Model Limit: Medium
Character Model Quality: Low
Only Depth Blur and Effect LOD are checked.
I am not sure if you have seen this already but take a look at this thread:

(edited by Felicja.6891)
jupe and J Night,
could you post your crash logs into this thread please? If there are multiple entries in the log, just find the latest one (look for date under line When: inside the log)
Alternatively you can use pastebin.com to paste the contents of the entire log.
The file you are looking for is called “ArenaNet.log” and you can find it in
(If this path shows up on multiple lines, it should be all one line)
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2.

Hi Shaktidev,
I am not sure if you are using the Steelseries USB headset on mac, but could you see if this works for you:
1. Open “System Preferences” and choose “Sound”.
2. Go to both “Output” and “Input”, and select your headset in both menus. If the change does not take place automatically, close the menu (by pressing the red button in the top left corner of the window), and reconnect the headset (unplug/plug-in).
Thanks Tyler. If it does turn out that you are no longer disconnecting on the wired connection, it could potentially be the wifi adapter of the laptop or the router’s that is providing the wifi connection.
If you continue to disconnect on wired connection as well, then it could be a problem somewhere on the route between you and the GW2 servers. Lets see after you have a chance to test your game client on a wired connection.
In case this happens again in the future when the game freezes, try pressing Command, Option and Esc keys together. It will force-quit the active open window (which will close the game client when the game client is open and frozen).
As far as a fix, maybe some files are out of date. Have you tried re-downloading the client itself and fixed user home folder permissions as well as ran “Repair Permissions” from disk utility?
If you have not, please see this posting:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/TgUpdate-1-11-everytime-i-open-the-launcher/3406144
Hi Tyler,
I am not sure if you have tried already, but could you try using just the wired internet anyways so we can rule out wifi issues?
If you also disconnect while only being connected via wire then there are other things we can look at.
Do you mean that you see the tgUpdate 1.11 every time your client launches? If so, there is a fix posted in this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/TgUpdate-1-11-everytime-i-open-the-launcher/3394514
Try it anyways – at least you will be certain you have the most up to date client.
Just to chime in, is this error message similar to what another user reported some time ago? See https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Randomly-crashes-while-running-lockedRect-pBits/first#post243259
If yes, what appears to have worked for him/her was to re-install the client. I am assuming that you have already tried this but, what I would also recommend is that you reinstall the client again and also repair both the system and user home folder permissions.
To do so, please follow steps at: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/TgUpdate-1-11-everytime-i-open-the-launcher/page/3#post3406144
Hi Jupe,
sorry to hear you are having trouble. Does this error show up after you see the login launcher, character selection screen, or when you are actually in game?
Another GW2 user had a similar issue about a year ago, see https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Randomly-crashes-while-running-lockedRect-pBits/first#post244041
The fix from what I can understand from his/her post is that reinstalling client fixed the issue.
I would add that you also repair both system permissions as well as user home folder permissions (your user’s account permissions are not normally fixed when you run “repair permissions”). Sorry to be referring you to multiple posts, but follow these instructions detailed in this post to re-install your GW2 client and repair both system and user home folder permissions:
Good luck! Let me know if this worked for you.

JRM, I used to experience this error during the early beta of the game…which in my case was linked to slow graphics card and high settings in game. I am not suggesting this also is the case here, but there also may be some files missing from the game client, which could be causing this. Could you please do the following:
1. Remove the GW2 client from your hard disk but preserve the GW2.dat file. By default the GW2 client is installed into /Applications folder. Move the GW2.dat file from your existing GW2 client so you don’t have to re-download ~20GB file again. Right click (Control-Click) on the game client, choose “Show Package Contents”, then go to Contents→Resources→transgaming→c_drive→GW2. In this folder, find GW2.dat and move it to Desktop. Then move the Game client to trash.
2. Remove the Guild Wars 2 folder from /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support
3. Remove Guild Wars 2 folder from /Users/yourusername/Documents
4. Get a new copy of GW2 Mac Beta client from the GW2 website and install it. Do not run the game client yet.
5. Repair system permissions on your hard disk by opening Disk Utility from /Applications/Utilities
6. Repair your user home folder permissions by following the instructions on the page http://pondini.org/OSX/Password.html. You will have to reboot, so you may want to print them and/or have them available on another device.
7. Once you reset the User home permissions, reboot into Mac OS X.
8. Launch the game. It is likely that the game will auto-update, so you will see the tgUpdate window once.
9. When the client starts downloading game files, close it.
10. Move the GW2.dat files back into the new GW2 mac beta client. Follow step 2, but this time you will be moving the file from Desktop to GW2 folder.
Note: If you see the tgUpdate 1.11 every time you launch the client, just use the instructions steps from https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/TgUpdate-1-11-everytime-i-open-the-launcher/3394514
Let me know if this was resolved your issue.
Just to chime in, JRM, could you elaborate on what error message you are seeing?
Exception: c0000005

Zoe, could you try the instructions in this thread please?
(edited by Moderator)
Are you using WiFi or wired network connection? If WiFi, try using wired.
Are you in WvW at the time when the game client crashes? If so, in your Graphics options, are you using “Best performance” as setting? This may help.
Emapudapus, it sounds like your graphics card and CPU are having difficulty with the amount of data to render for you to see. One thing that worked for me on my older iMac was to run the game at “best performance” setting. Could you try this setting (under Options→Graphics in GW2) please?
Tyler, are you connected to the internet through Wifi or a wire? If it is WiFi, maybe your wireless network card is going into power-save mode dropping connection temporarily.
What is the computer you are using, MacBook, iMac, Macbook Air, other? Also which model are you using (go to Apple Icon→About this Mac→System Report and find Model identifier).
Just to chime in, JRM, could you elaborate on what error message you are seeing?
@ Saarus, could you please try removing the Local.dat file from the
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2
then retry..Sorry removing the Local.dat file will probably require that you re-enter your login information into the launcher.
Please try updating the client as described in the thread:
Let me know if this worked for you:)
I think the update to GW2 as described in the topic below should fix the “skritt ballerina” issue (BTW, still laughing at the analogy…would love to see a skritt dancing:) )

Glad to be of help and that it worked for you folks:)
Since we may run into this issue again in the future, here is how you can use Eavesdrop on Mac to find out where the tgUpdate is being downloaded from.
You can find Eavesdrop from http://www.baurhome.net/software/eavesdrop/index.html
1. Download the Eavesdrop from the above website (look for the Downloads section).
2. Open the app. It is a lot easier to figure out which site the GW2 is connecting to if you have as few applications open that use internet. So close any Mail, web-streaming music/videos if you have them open. Make sure that GW2 client is closed.
3. In the Eavesdrop app, click on the “Start Capture”. You will be prompted for an administrative password. This is normal.
4. Launch the GW2 client. As soon as you see the familiar tgUpdate window, let it download for a few seconds until the progress bar has moved a little, then cancel it.
5. Switch to the Eavesdrop app. You should start seeing some new entries in the main screen. Find the entry that has the most number of packets (see # column in the window). This is likely to be the GW2 client related traffic, but it may not if you were downloading other files in the background or streaming audio/video).
6. Double click on the entry with most packets. In the window that opens, look for both host information as well as the URL that is requested. It will be buried within bunch of other gibberish unfortunately.
@Arion Starke:
It sounds like the tgUpdate cannot find the Guild Wars 2 app. Do you have the game in the default /Applications folder or is it in another folder?
I have been able to fix this issue on my mac…at least the tgUpdate does not show up any longer. I had to work around the problem, which was to download the update manually through Safari, apply it and then re-launch the game client.
The URL for the patch is (yes this is a legitimate patch – i figured this out using EavesDrop application for Mac). If you have questions how, please reply to this message.
http://cider.ncplatform.net/Live/GWII-Update-009524.tgz
After downloading the patch, manually unpack it by double-clicking. You should find “GWII-Update-009524.app” after it finishes extracting. Open this app, and when asked point it to you GW2 client. If you are getting a message: “GWII-Update-009524.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”, you must allow third party apps in your System Preferences->Security & Privacy->“Allow apps downloaded from anywhere”
After the update is completed, try launching the game client.
If this still does not work, try the following:
1. Get a new copy of GW2 Mac Beta client from the GW2 website. Do not open it yet.
2. Move the GW2.dat file from your existing GW2 client (so you don’t have to re-download ~20GB file again). Right click (Control-Click) on the game client, choose “Show Package Contents”, then go to Contents→Resources→transgaming→c_drive→GW2. In this folder, find GW2.dat and move it to Desktop
3. Remove your old GW2 client, including the Guild Wars 2 folder in ~User/Library
4. Install the new GW2 mac beta client.
5. Apply the updater patch you had downloaded at the beginning of this post.
6. Launch the game.
7. When it starts downloading game files, close it.
8. Move the GW2.dat files back into the new GW2 mac beta client. Follow step 2, but this time you will be moving the file from Desktop to GW2 folder.
If it still does not work, reply to this post.
Good luck!

LaMizzy,
thank you! Your solution worked and fixed the TP issue for me.
Hi Stefan,
thank you very much for your thorough explanation:)
Felicja
Hi Felicja,
The events.json and event_names.json are flushed on each new release, and get populated as events happen in real time. While the event_details.json enumerates all events ever seen. Some of your cited events such as the “Defeat the Aetherblade Captain” may no longer be happening in newer releases, which is why then don’t get populated in the events.json.
I am not sure if this is the intended behaviour, but the events.json, event_details.json and event_status all have different count of unique event_ids.
At least as of last 24 hours (could be longer) I see that:
- events.json has 3109 unique eventIDs for a given world_id…tested with 1017, 1014,1009
- event_names.json has 3114 unique eventIDs
- event_details.json returns 3202 unique eventIDs
From what I can gather, the extra data in event_details.json that are not in events.json were events like “Defeat the Aetherblade Captain”.
Some of the extra event_ids:
“FD66B2CD-EF72-4B9A-BDBC-A5D1DB1E3E02”
“FD20EBD4-kitten-46F9-8CF6-AABBCB31B8C4”
“FC54F1E7-3CAE-4C0C-A4B7-23DC04754ED9”
“F9FA3ED2-9558-4696-A544-C158A823643E”
“F8D554C5-1CD1-4F05-8CE5-D0EC43FEBF02”
“F8D47A94-1058-4122-8842-4953176CC47D”
“F64ABC5A-886E-4F89-B2C3-C419917DD88D”
“F3E682A0-9AD9-4CD7-A60E-BCE42B84CA38”
“F3A31B78-D858-4C09-BAF5-E166C6EC6427”
“EEC08296-FDE9-4077-8E37-5981AEF0C8C7”

“E726E373-98FA-4577-9CA5-A0BAB2CE5ED3”
Should the API not return all of the same event_ids in each of the above JSON?
Thanks for your advice.
When you say, you cleared the game from your computer, do you mean that you also deleted the following folders?
- “Guild Wars 2” folder in ~/yourusername/Library/Application Support
- “Guild Wars 2” folder in ~/yourusername/Documents
This is a spot where some of the game user settings are stored, so it is likely it may be corrupt, if downloading the client again did not fix it.
What you could do, is delete them one by one and try launching the game again in between.
Thanks Cliff, this is very helpful. I appreciate your swift response.:)
Cliff, thank you for sharing with us the API and continually improving them.
I know this may be a long shot, but…it would be fair to say that attempts to get MumbleLink to work on Mac OS X have been unsuccessful.
Is there any chance that you would be able to confirm with Transgaming that their cider wrapper of GW2 client for mac is actually executing the part of the Gw2 client code that is writing to a shared mapped memory “MumbleLink”?
Also, would it be against the rules to scan the memory of the GW2 client itself and get the necessary values of the coordinates, given the MumbleLink is not working at present on Mac?
(edited by Felicja.6891)
Yes, I am seeing that too. Water does only 10% heal (instead of 20% advertised on the tooltip) and Drink does 20% damage to health (instead of 10% advertised on tooltip). Noticeable on Adnul, because he seems to be more difficult than others.
To reproduce, start by taking a Drink right at the get go, and your HP will decrease from 10,000 to 8001. Next use Water, and it will only increase it by ~1000 hp.
Please fix the tooltip or fix the game if this is not the intended behavior.
I’m pretty sure taking a swig of alcohol reduces your health by 20%, not 10%.

Same issue here. It began happening since the last patch on the two iMac’s that wife and I use to play GW2.
Just wanted to provide an update. Since the latest patch, I am no longer experiencing this issue.
Sorry Adoh, could not get into forum to post until now..but I see that dipnlik already answered.
Felicja,
Can you give more detail info on how to run the -repair so us that are less Mac savy can run this and also post our logs so that we might help Anet discover/fix this problem?
Thanks
I am experiencing this issue of game freeze when choosing “Exit” or “Logout” from Options some of the times..nothing consistent however to pinpoint the cause of the problem. What I can say though is that it seems to me that freezes started after Jan 28 patch.
I found interesting entry of a “crash” in the ArenaNet.log file that seems was recorded around the same time when the game client froze. Upon running -repair on the Mac client (via CiderSettings.cfg), the VerifyResults.log had interesting info about some files failing CRC check. Please see attached.
You can find your log files in:
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2

My ISP is Bell Aliant.
Same situation happening for me, but on mac client. Same issue on Bootcamp windows partition as well.
I live on the East Coast and since Nov 19, 2012 2030hrs EST have been having login issue.
My location is Nova Scotia, Canada. I have not changed any settings on my router or mac. I can access the internet without any problem, including this forum of course.
I see error code: 42:1000:7006:849.
Anyone else experiencing login problems?
Thank you very much for the replies and clarification. I really appreciate it!
Hi all,
not sure if anyone else is experiencing this issue of checkered floor/tiled ground (see attached image). It occurs in any location that is covered (cave, or level 2 of Rata Sum but not the top level exposed to sky).
I was away from the game since end of September until a week ago, and I only have started to experience the issue with the last Mac client update. My in-game graphics settings are:
Animation – Low
Anti-aliasing – None
Environment – Low
LOD Distance – Medium
Reflections – None
Textures – Low
Render Sampling – Native
Shadows – None
Shaders – Low
Post – processing – None
Best Texture Filtering – unchecked
Depth blur – unchecked
Vertical Sync – unchecked
Resolution 1600 × 900, windowed
I get about 30 FPS, playing on iMac 10.1 (Late 2009 model).
Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Graphics ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB, Software OS X 10.8.2 (12C60), with 12GB RAM. Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions.
I am also having the issue with the bottom portion of the window being clipped (the experience bar and below) when in windowed mode. My resolution for windowed mode is 1680×1050. This is not an issue in full-screen mode or when in windowed-mode in Bootcamp.
If possible, would be nice to resize the window myself (drag-drop) or offer resolutions with other aspect ratio, 4:3 or 5:4 as well.
Hi diabluz,
you don’t actually have to re-download the client, just follow the directions a helpful individual posted at:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Hint-to-all-you-can-just-copy-your-Win-installation
I was already in love with the game but this solidifies you as my favorite development team now. Thank you SOOOOO much for bringing your beautiful game to the most beautiful OS.
Downloading the client now so I can’t yet comment on performance but thank you sooo much! You make S.J. smile in heaven!
Much love from the Mac faithful!
Surprisingly, I am getting 15-25 frames per sec on 1920×1080 on iMac Late 2009 which is below the minimum specs. A slightly worse performance than on Bootcamp, where I have 40-50 fps, same resolution. All can get better from here, since this is the beta client.
Settings:
Animation – low
Environment – low
LOD distance – medium
Textures – low
Render sampling – Native
Shadows – none
Shaders – low
Post-processing – none
Very thankful to ArenaNet for accommodating the community of Mac users. I cannot thank you enough for creating a Mac client!

I am also seeing the same..only recently, I would say for the past day. Screenshot is attached. It does not show up for all items that I hover over.
