@Hollow: There may not be any error message that you see, but I am curious if the crash is recorded in the ArenaNet.log file. Since there may be historical crashes, you could try deleting the file and then once the client crashes again, the file will be re-created.
The file you are looking for is called “ArenaNet.log” and you can find it in
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2
Alternatively, you could try launching the Guild Wars 2 client via Terminal.app command line and then potential errors may show up in Terminal.app. To do so:
1. Launch Terminal.app from /Applications/Utilities
2. Assuming your GW2 client is installed in its default location /Applications type in the following in the Terminal.app (In case the formatting gets messed up by the forums, there are two dashes between cider and use-dos-cwd.):
/Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:/GW2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe
3. Leave the Terminal.app window open, while GW2 client is running.
I understand that you feel apprehensive about posting a file that may contain some private information, but there are no big secrets in it – it contains your internal IP address, computer specs, date/time when the crash occurred and error data.
You can edit the contents of the file (it can be opened in TextEdit or Notepad on Windows) and post what you feel comfortable. You can also create a support ticket with ANet if you have not done so.
@Yokocapolo:
Have you already tried this solution posted at:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Exception-c0000094-1
Could you please post the crash log to the http://pastebin.com please? It may be possible to figure out what is the cause of the crash.

(If this path shows up on multiple lines, it should be all one line)
/Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/p_drive/User/Application Data/Guild Wars 2.
I am assuming that you have already tried specifying the Proxy settings in
System Preferences→Network→Your Connection (Ethernet or WiFi)→Advanced→Proxies (selecting all protocols)
You could also try MacProxy or Authoxy. I have no experience with any of these.
Yes this error appears to be a common with cider, but not critical. Just ignore it.
thanks! works great!
btw, is this normal?

@ Tasos:
try this. It worked for me. It assumes your GW2 installation is in the default folder /Applications. In case the formatting gets messed up by the forums, there are two dashes between cider and use-dos-cwd. Note: you have to run this via the Terminal.app
/Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:/GW2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -nosound
Please try the suggestions in the linked posting. It is possible that the BLTC processes are “stuck” and still loaded in memory from the previous launch of GW2 client (as long as you have not restarted, as restarting the OS removes all processes from memory). Please remove the offending processes from memory as listed in this posting, or reboot the computer.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Mac-Beta-Trading-Post-Issues/first#post3156901
You could try testing your network response time when playing regularly on your server and then when guesting on TC. The instructions on how to do this on Mac are posted here, although figuring out the correct server IP may take a few trials and errors.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/How-to-show-ping-on-mac-client/3588327
If you see an increase in response time when on a guesting server, it is possibly the connection between you and the destination server.
Sorry if you have already tried this, but could you delete the “Guild Wars 2” folder from “~/Library/Application Support”?
Note: There are at least 2 Library folders. One is on the root of Mac HD, called Library (we are not interested in this one), the other hidden in your account’s folder, under Users/yourusername. It is usually referred to as ~/Library. It is where many of your personal mac account settings are saved, including GW2 client files.
If the Library folder is hidden, open Finder, then from the menu select Go and while holding Option key you should see the Library folder. Click on it, then find “Application Support” and finally Guild Wars 2. Delete the Guild Wars 2 folder from here.
The first link that Naqaj provided applies to Windows, but on mac you can use the “Activity Monitor” (in Utilities) to identify the outgoing IP addresses. Once Activity Monitor is opened, find Guild Wars 2 process and then click on the “i” icon or press Apple key and letter “i”, then in the window that opens, go under “Open Files and Ports”. In the list you will find IP addresses, usually starting with your own computer’s IP and the server’s IP (e.g.192.168.0.5:49491->64.25.38.149:dtspcd, where the latter starting with 64.25 is the server IP with port dtspcd (actually 6112 numeric).
Note that running “ping INSERT_YOUR_SERVER_IP” will likely timeout (replace INSERT_YOUR_SERVER_IP with the IP of the server you receive via Activity Monitor). In my case the server does not respond to ping (probably icmp packets are dropped by default for security). I keep receiving: “Request timeout for icmp_seq 0”.
You could run “sudo nmap -sU -p6112 -v INSERT_YOUR_SERVER_IP” to ping the server via UDP. You will receive the latency information, likely similar to:
Host is up (0.056s latency).
If you do not have nmap installed, use web search to find a binary. It is a free tool.

There is no pause function…but the game client resumes the download after it is re-opened. So here is what I suggest:
1. Download the game client up to 12GB of total limit per day (this assumes you are not viewing any other sites/internet streaming music videos; if you are then cancel client download sooner as not to exceed your daily limit)
2. Next day, resume the game client download by re-launching of the game client. The game client will resume from where it left off.
@Ingrim:
yes it does work on Mountain Lion. Have you deleted the “Guild Wars 2” folder from the “Applications Support” folder in ~/Library? If not, please do so – instructions are posted a few posts earlier.

Editing the CiderSettings.plist to include -mapLoadInfo does not work for me either. I am on 10.9.1. The only way I have been able to run it with the commands such as -windowed or -mapLoadInfo was to use the Terminal.app and launch using:
(Note the forum replaces the two dashes with one: before use-dos-cwd).
/Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:/GW2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -mapLoadInfo

Hi SilvSonic,

what have you tried so far to get this issue fixed? Have you tried the steps detailed in the update at:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/TgUpdate-1-11-everytime-i-open-the-launcher/3394514
I recommend that you follow the instructions at the bottom of that post and re-install the GW2 client preserving the .dat file. These steps have fixed the Gem Store and other issues for many.
Also, if you have not done so yet, please delete the “Guild Wars 2” folder from /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support.

I would delete the folder anyway, as the GW2 game client will re-create it once the client is launched. The issue that you are experiencing is likely related to the incorrect data in that folder, so deleting it should fix your problem.
As another mac user, I sympathize with the general desire of Mac users to have a native client. However, as you may already be aware, the GW2 has been designed from ground up using DirectX framework instead of OpenGL. Having the game work on mac natively requires OpenGL. Switching it will likely involve a substantial re-write of the game engine…
Yes, using cider/transgaming was a quick workaround. Since the game betas and the release, there only was a Windows client. The Mac beta client came as a nice surprise to those who have wished and requested a mac client. It is a beta however, so it has issues.
I am not sure if ANet has the time, resources and know-how to be able to do this. Maybe it is also a matter of priority and focus: 1. release more content for all players or 2. re-design game client engine to accommodate a portion of players who prefer to use OS X environment (albeit these same users can also use Windows via Bootcamp to play the same game).
To me the focus is clear given ANet is developing and releasing content frequently. Do I wish there was an official response on the matter and future direction? I am not sure…it would not change anything as a re-write of the engine is likely to take a long time. Even if they said they are planning to release the Mac port in a year or two, I and likely many of you would still continue to use the Mac Beta client in the meantime or Windows client via BootCamp.
Could ANet has chosen a different company to port its game client (Feral Interactive, Virtual Programming, etc) so it is closer to a native app? Not likely given their game client requires frequent modifications to allow for new content in MMO. This would likely mean added overhead cost for ongoing modifications to the game client through another company.
Transgaming to me seemed like a logical choice given that it is the wrapper, allowing for frequent updates to game client that do not require as frequent changes to the wrapper.
@Ronkilav: glad you got it sorted out. After the latest update, the Mac GW2 client version should be: 1.0.009524. Is this what you see as well?
@mikeew: While I sympathize with your request, could we keep this thread focused on dealing with the technical issues related to the tgUpdate please?
Hi TemplarHedgehog,
welcome to the game:)
If you have not done so yet, please delete the “Guild Wars 2” folder from /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support.

Relaunch the game. You will likely have to provide your game account username/password again. This is because the Guild Wars 2 folder was deleted where these settings are saved.
Good luck!
@ snowfaire: please see my reply to your other message in the Tg-Update 1.11 forum.

If this still does not work, there are some other temporary files which contain TP and GW2 data that need to be deleted. Note, these files are not usually mentioned and you must take caution.
The files are buried deep within a folder at path: /private/var/folders/ and their exact location path varies depending on system and your account name.
The quickest way to find them:
1. Open Terminal.app from /Applications→Utilities
2. Once Terminal.app is opened, type in (without the quotes): “open /private/var/folders”.
3. In this same window, in the search space, type in “tg-”, and make sure that “folders” is selected under the Search section (choices are “This Mac” or “folders”). If there is a match, it will likely find a folder called tg-yourusername, where yourusername is your account name on your mac (in my case it was tg-Felicja). Just drag the tg-yourusername folder to Trash. Try restarting the computer and then try again.
@Mystic: Thanks for sharing your tip!
@David: Thanks for posting the log file.
All your crashes are referencing the “Dx9Tex.cpp” file, which is likely responsible for drawing of textures (and possibly other stuff such as animation) using DirectX 9 framework.
From what I can understand, it seems that:
1. Your computer is running out of memory for animation:
“Mem Arena ‘Animation’ capacity exceeded. Attempted alloc category: ‘Anim Import Packfile’ Size: 3453496”.
I guess you can either take the approach that Mystic suggests, in which you set everything to “Best performance” and then increase settings one by one or try “Autodetect” but make sure that settings for Animation and Texture are set to a notch lower than what “Autodetect” sets for you.
2. You may have to reset PRAM on Mac. A similar issue was occurring on PC and once someone reset BIOS settings to default settings, the issue related to: “Failed to resolve AimIK bone indices” went away. (Source: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/84474-crashing-a-lot-mostly-wvwvw/)
To reset SMC/PRAM on Mac, please follow the instructions at (look for section “Rest your SMC and PRAM:”
3. There appears to be a note about possibly a file missing: “Content is referencing a propID that doesn’t exist propId=‘1600441043174588950’”. It is possible that the GPU could not load it in time because it ran out of memory or actually that the file is missing.
You could try running from Terminal.app (you can find it in Applications→Utilities) the following command. It assumes your GW2 client was installed in the default location of /Applications.
/Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:/GW2 — C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair
Note: The —line (between word cider and use-dos-cwd) is actually 2 dashes, the format of the forums make it look like 1 long dash, you may have to delete and re-type this for it to work.
This command is properly formatted and also available at
Please provide an update and good Luck!

Oh sorry…I am guessing you double click’ed it, which opened the Console.app. The Console.app by default is associated with all files that have the .log extension and allows to view all logs, including a bunch of other system logs.
The contents of ArenaNet.log will show up once you double-click the file, but do not select any of the other logs from the list on the left. The log that you are currently seeing will be displayed in the window title. It should say ArenaNet.log.
Alternatively, you could try opening the ArenaNet.log in TextEdit it will give you just the contents of that log. Paste the entire file to paste bin please. Thanks!
Thank you very much for posting the log file. From the log it looks as if the game client is trying to execute Actionscript, but it cannot find the object or its reference. I am not sure why this is the case, maybe the Awesomium browser files that come with GW2 client use Adobe Flash Actionscript…
Do you have Adobe Flash Player installed on your Mac? Please re-install following these instructions. If you do not have it installed, just get the latest version and install it.
Uninstall:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
Then install:
http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Also, please update your Mac OS X 10.9 by running System Update on Mac. If the log files are correct, you are currently running 10.9 but there is an update, 10.9.1.
Please let me know if this resolved your issue. Good luck!

Interestingly the -repair process will not take more than 5 minutes and it is recommended as general troubleshooting on Mac (please see: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Basic-Mac-Beta-Client-Troubleshooting/first#post2480238)

I am sure you already know this, files/folders in Mac environment have user based permissions. Please make sure the GW2.dat file has these permissions (when you “Get Info” on the file, take a look at Sharing & Permissions):
yourusername – Read & Write
staff – Read & Write
everyone – Read & Write
whereas, the GW2.app client file has the following permissions:
yourusername – Read & Write
staff – Read & Write
everyone – Read only

My only suggestion would be to adjust the settings one by one to find the “sweet-spot” where it does not crash any longer.

Since GW2 client was compiled with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 (C++), it stands to reason that this error code (c000005) refers to access violation. It means that GW2 client or the cider (which one will have to be determined) is accessing (either reading or writing) a memory address to which it does not have rights/access to. Most commonly this is caused by:
-Accessing a stale pointer. That is accessing memory that has already been deallocated.
-Reading off past the end of an array.
Fixing this requires debugging and being able to patch the source code (which only ANet can do).
Source for error: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17168982/exception-error-c0000005-in-vc
Can someone post a .log file with this error to http://pastebin.com ? I would much appreciate it. I will see if I can find the offending code.

Hi David,
it sounds like your system is choking on the amount of graphical detail that it tries to draw. It does not mean that the computer is slow but rather the game is not optimized well (previously discussed in this forum). Could you please try turning down your GW2 graphics settings to either “Best Performance” or those listed in this topic:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/Constant-Crash-c0000005/3422883
Sorry to hear this is still an issue and thanks for the update. It is possible that some files in the .dat file are corrupt. I am not sure if you have already tried this, but even if your .dat file was copied from Windows client, there could be some files missing in it/corrupt.
You could try running from Terminal.app (you can find it in Applications->Utilities) the following command. It assumes your GW2 client was installed in the default location of /Applications.
/Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:/GW2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -repair
Note: The —line (between word cider and use-dos-cwd) is actually 2 dashes, the format of the forums make it look like 1 long dash, you may have to delete and re-type this for it to work.

FricoRico, I think the user who recorded this video did so on a Hackintosh, which could also use a Mac client, but have higher hardware specs than the latest iMac or currently available Mac Pro (not the unit that will be available in February 2014). I am getting between 75-110 frames during PVE fights on my Hackintosh with “Best Appearance” (hardware: Nvidia GeForce 770 GTX 4GB, 16GB RAM and Intel i7 4770K, SSD). While I don’t have a video handy, attached are some screenshots. On the iMac with GeForce 780M 4GB, I get 55-80 FPS on Low/Medium settings in WvW.

Hi Hollow,
what are the graphics settings that you have currently set in GW2 client? Please try running WvW with “best performance”.
@Xfile: please see my reply to your message in another thread (the TgUpdate one).
@Gankishkhan: You are correct that the fix for the tgUpdate errors was discovered by a user (me) but ANet has reportedly been working on this same issue at the same time (it just so happened that I posted my fix before they crafted their official response/resolution). The tgUpdate fix has also resolved the gem store issues for many.
The official ANet response and instructions are at: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/TgUpdate-1-11-everytime-i-open-the-launcher/3394514
@fishgeekted: could you please try the instructions at the link provided above to Gankishkhan.
Please report back if you have any trouble. Please include any error messages/screenshots of defunct processes. Thanks!
@ Noisiu: did you get the gem store working after you patched it or are you still having trouble?
@Xfile: sorry, I am not sure where you stopped the process. As I understand from your posting, you manually downloaded the updater and applied it to the old game client. I would recommend that you re-do the process from the beginning if you can. It sounds to me like the browser files that GW2 client is using for the BLTC and Gem Store are corrupt. It should get fixed once the client is re-installed and has correct permissions.
Here is the complete summary of steps that include repairing permissions:
1. Remove your old GW2 client, including the Guild Wars 2 related folders & files.
Note: In the text below, yourusername refers to your own account name on your mac computer. / sign at the beginning of the file path means that the path starts from the root of the disk drive (which in OS X often the disk drive is called Macintosh HD). For instance, if the path says /Applications, it means the Applications folder on Macintosh HD (if Macintosh HD is the label for your system disk).
If you cannot see the Library folder in yourusername’s folder, Go to Finder and from the menu select “Go” then while holding the “Option” key on keyboard, find the “Library” folder.
Folders and files to remove (in quotation marks):
a. “Guild Wars 2” folder in /Users/yourusername/Library/Application Support
b. “Guild Wars 2” folder in /Users/yourusername/Documents
c. “com.transgaming.guildwars2” in /Users/yourusername/Library/Caches
d. “com.transgaming.tginstall-guildwars2-shipping” in /Users/yourusername/Library/Caches
