I use it defensively:
Best case scenario : click on any wvwvw gate within 900 to vanish into safety. (i have it on middle mouse)
Second best : get out of melee range instantly.
Its usefulness depends or you weapon i guess. As D/D it’s a must have imo.
Never seen that. Any chance of a video? Seems easy to reproduce at such a high chance. Would help the community and a-net.
The burden of proof lies with the thieves. Anet has already stated that their burst is ‘something to look at’.
In other words : show us a screenshot that proves thieves are NOT overpowered.
Hard. Isn’t it?
“In pubs Elementalists aren’t having much troubles, since killing noobs isn’t hard.”
ehhh….I don’t know where to begin dismantling that statement.
OP: I don’t think we are in as bad a state as this forum might make you think. The person behind the keyboard is far more important than the differences between classes. That being said, I do think most players would beat their Ele with any other class if they could play against themselves. (And put in the same amount of practice obviously).

So next time you see a thief, open your character screen, find your scepter in it, then drag it to your main hand. Then find the dagger, (hurry though, he’s closing in!!) drag it to your offhand slot.
Now you are ready, good to go!
Go get that thief, tiger!
Now after you crushed him. All you have to do is reopen your bags and equip that staff again.
See? It works! Just adapt and be versatile.
Alternatively never ever equip a staff in pvp.
On a positive note for a change. Point being I’d like to convince people to make an elementalist alt. And make it the last character they intend to level up.
Busy on my 3rd character (1st ranger then an ele) I noticed that you can get away with not being careful on at least my warrior. No more checking out patrols. No more checking out the level. Not even checking whether it’s a veteran. No more skipping groups of 2 mobs that do a knockback. No more deaths from respawning mobs because some other dude just walked the same path 1 minute ago. No more deaths because of a sloppy missed dodge of a catapult. No more spawning 6 mobs right on your head in storyline quests instakilling you. And so on. The tactical bit is just gone with a heavy armor character.
As someone who will only start pvp when he’s fed up with all the content, I must say :
We have it pretty fine as elementalists. Our leveling experience is far deeper and more enjoyable than all my other characters.
Just wish I started my elementalist last. It is quite boring leveling a heavy armor AFTER a light armored char.
What has been your experience leveling a char after an ele?
Discalaimer: And please don’t start about skills or being noob or whatever. I suck ok?
You should use your ‘Single Attack That Does Massive Damage’!
The Elementalist : What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack. (www.Guildwars2.com)
I sincerely hope the devs are NOT using the forums to get an idea of where balance could be improved. It would only cloud the issues. Spotty teenagers with an agenda don’t do much for clarity, it is not easy to be fair and objective if you just had your wazoo cut off. Much more interesting are the combat logs and bug reports.
If I read the words ‘noob’ or ‘kitten’ or ‘facepalm’ i just turn off and read the next post. They just don’t realise how stupid it sounds. Imagine being a moderator shudder
Forums might be fine for suggestions on HOW to fix things. Not for determining if something NEEDS fixing. The few anet dev posts i have seen suggest they are very careful not to listen to all the bs and take it slow and deliberate. Else they will end up ‘fixing the fixes’.
I got one-shotted at around level 50. According to my combat log i was hit by Unknown, the move was called Explosion and it hit for all my health plus about 150.
I can only assume it was one of them bombs the little undeads carry.
Specced pure glass cannon, all fire/air/arcana + crit/pow.
And you know what? I am enjoying it a lot. As others have suggested, we aren’t too squishy, the other classes are too strong.
On my ranger main I never knew half my enemy’s moves because my pet took the hit. You don’t really have to pause and look at patrol routes with my ranger/warrior. You just go in and adapt when the ^%^*& hits the fan. Why not make more mobs with a fear, so melee classes have their own nemesis? Crushingly strong mage mobs would also do the trick : slow projectiles that hit like a truck. Just to force the melees into moving aswell. The game gets more enjoyable if it’s a constant struggle for survival.
Anyways, I don’t think ele’s CAN be balanced. They will be pegged to the dps the very best players can pull off in pvp. And that’s not me i’m afraid, so I’ll settle for ele in pve and other classes in pvp. The sooner people realise this the better.
