There is no way that this was intended to be okay, otherwise what is the point of the daily limit per character?

I hope they either fix this or just remove the daily limit; having to constantly make and delete characters to get the most out of this event is disappointing.

Why are people expecting Anet to reduce Wxp for larger groups sizes? The design of resources in this game makes it so you are never competing with other players—-you all get the same amount of xp and karma for events, resources from nodes, items from chests.

Yes, it takes more skill to capture an objective with 5 people instead of 40, but wxp isn’t rewarding you for skilled play, it’s just rewarding you for playing. There is nothing designed into WvW that explicitly rewards you for player skill because the game mode isn’t balanced—-that’s what spvp is for.

If they split wxp from a static ‘pool’ like some are suggesting, you’re going to run into situations where 5 people are taking a supply camp, and if others come to help they’ll get yelled at for ‘leeching’ or whatever…which is stupid and bad game design.

Yes, they need to figure out a way to give smaller groups a larger impact in WvW, but manipulating the way a resource is distributed is a bad way to approach it. Large forces (or ‘zergs’) are mostly effective because of small map sizes, the proximity of major objectives, and the lack of objectives that are 5-mannable. Anet needs to add an extra objective specifically for small, roaming groups.

As an example, they could add alters that spawn randomly in 1 of 12-15 different locations on the map, guarded by some npcs so it’s roughly as difficult to destroy as a camp is to take; server that gets the last hit wins ‘favor’ with someone (I don’t know—-grawl?) and if you get enough favor, your server gets the orb of power for that map. The randomized nature of it and the ease of destroying it would give small, roaming groups an advantage over large zergs, and the orb of power reward would make it a very important objective. Obviously just an idea that likely has significant downsides, but just wanted to show that there are other ways Anet can address this problem.

Why isn’t the new ICD being listed?

I don’t mind them changing this, it was a little ridiculous for AoE damage in WvW and there are plenty of other food options, but at least give numbers so players can judge whether or not they want to make a change.

Very good Guardian patch; Pure of Voice, Healing Breeze and staff overall always looked good on paper but had significant bugs or drawbacks. Now they look like much better options for various builds. I’ve hated non-mobile LoW ever since the BWEs.

Funny, I was skimming through this thread (it’s been raining here), and I just looked up and there’s a crazy-bright rainbow outside.

I honestly fail to see why this is such a big deal to people. If you don’t like the idea of getting shot to death by rainbow unicorns then kill the wielder.

I hope they revert this change, it sounds terrible and makes me not want to play most of my characters.

People are exaggerating or are experiencing some type of bug.

Last night I played my level 45 mesmer with a friend who was level 20, in a 15-25 zone, and did not notice any significant decrease in power. My gear ranges from level 26-38, blues and greens.

Stealth just needs a hard counter. Thieves are really strong in small WvW skirmishes due to the wide open terrain (easy to juke players and escape if you need to) and near-instant health regen once you drop out of combat.

If players are having difficulty fighting 80-90% stealth uptime thieves—-which a lot are—-then they should have access to traits or utility skills to combat stealth.

The fight in SBI Bay Keep on reset night was the most fun I’ve had in WvW for a long time. All 3 servers fighting over one objective for 2+ hours with plenty of siege and portal bombs (and portal suicides) to go around.

And as others have pointed out, it’s nice to look at this thread and not see it full of trakittenalking and cheating accusations. On the other lands, looks like the T1 thread got modded.

Looking forward to the WvW action for the remainder of the week.

I refuse to believe that the WvW scene in SBI is ‘dying’, they have had a strong enough WvW community since release to keep them in T1 every week. They will be a monster in T2.

It also sounds like SoS vs JQ vs BG / SBI vs SoR vs TC will be more even matches (coverage-wise), so should be less PvDoor for everyone.

As someone who xfer’d from SBI (T1) to SoR (T5), I have been looking forward to the possibility of going up against ol’ Steelbluff for a long time. Should be interesting.

Thieves are already crazy strong because they have high damage and the BEST damage mitigation in the game (stealth). It is way better than protection at preventing damage.

The thing that makes them broken is the culling in WvW. They can burst you while remaining invisible / immune to any single-target skills even after stealth wears off.

What I find crazy is that there is no direct counter to stealth in GW2. In a game that prides itself in giving players large customization options through utility skills and traits, you cannot opt to give yourself a skill or major trait to counter one of the strongest mechanics in this game.

Quit whining, portal bombing is preventable, people are just crappy at playing their classes.

The problem is no one wants to play defensively in this game, everyone runs around with great swords and kitten. One guardian with a 2h hammer can easily prevent an entire zerg portal bomb.

As a guardian that actually does this, I do want to point out that it’s not as simple as you make it sound because RoW has such a significant delay / cast animation. You have to have very good reaction time, teleport and maybe even stability popped to pull it off.

As for portal being balanced…I’m not really convinced that it is. What other utility skill on a similar CD do other professions have that is just as useful in WvW? Hell, Portal as a utility skill is more useful than any Guardian elite skills.

I also don’t think that a single skill should control how an entire game mode is played. At the very least, it needs a more direct counter (like a ranged, targeted RoW with a radius barely larger than portal’s).

A lot of good ideas in this thread, hopefully someone at ANet is keeping an eye on this.

I would just like to add that the idea of ‘farming’ a jumping puzzle in WvW is not good game design. I’m fine with a 1-time reward (badges and blueprints) and an achievement for completing it…but not any more than that. Make a new WvW daily achievement that rewards those badges and blueprints instead. It’s just ridiculous that you can be involved in several skirmishes or tower / keep captures, and still get inferior rewards compared to people simply taking a mesmer portal to open a chest or two. Reward players for actually…you know…participating in WvW

And as already mentioned, some other incentives to play would be great; ranks and / or exclusive-looking WvW gear. Right now it’s just a huge gold-sink and the only rewards to reap are PvE boons and a (brief) sense of accomplishment.

My server already has bad enough queues, so I got online an hour early, got into WvW right after reset. Was having fun defending our keep.

ANEt randomly announces a new build, forces us out of WvW, makes me spend 5 minutes at LA loading screen. Then crashes game for update, get back in, now been waiting in queue for 40+ minutes.

I love ANet, I love this game, but this has pissed me off more than anything else experienced in this game thus far. They admit that the WvW Q times are a problem, yet kick everyone within the first 30 minutes of WvW after reset with no explanation. And for the record, I switched from a high-tier WvW server to a mid / low tier server, enjoyed 5-10 minute queues. But ANet kept free transfers in place and now, a month later, we have 1+ hour queue times.

This is a great game with a great game philosophy. But the people in charge making decisions, to me, seem incredibly incompetent. The playerbase has been screaming at ANet to close free transfers for a LONG time, but just recently do they admit that there’s a problem. And any WvW players with half a brain would say ‘do NOT reset WvW immediately upon reset, wait a few hours for the queue times to decrease’.

Yeah, I’m fine with your idea Squeal. Just give players another option outside of the top 3 servers. PvP elsewhere is far too boring. There needs to be a healthy population throughout all servers. If there was there wouldn’t be such an influx on the popular few.

There are plenty of options outside of the top 3-4 servers. Ask the people in the Shiverpeaks vs. Yak’s Bend vs. Sanctum of Rall matchup if they’re bored with WvW. That match has been a virtual 3-way tie all week.

You are making assumptions about this game based solely on your particular WvW matchup. If your guild is bored, transfer to Dragonbrand, Crystal Desert, BG or IoJ; help bridge that gap between tiers 1 and 2.

I’m posting on the forums right now because I’ve been stuck in a loading screen in WvW for 5 minutes, it happened earlier in sPVP where it kept me in a loading screen for an entire match. Never had this happen prior to this patch.

The feeling over at SBI is that we can beat Henge but we can’t beat Anet. If you’re going to reset the servers then you may as well reset the entire WvW matchup.

We will keep fighting until the end, however. Proud to be in SBI.

ANet is not going to tolerate players that purposefully go out of their way to hurt their server during WvW. Taking supply from a keep undergoing upgrades in order to waste it on useless siege (flame rams in keep) is a prime example of this.

Be sure to keep reporting players you suspect of this and take screenshots, they will get banned.

And ANet, this is going to become a big problem if you don’t do something about it quickly. You need to make changes to character transfers and the time limit before you can participate in WvW after transferring. $20 transfers to high-pop servers and exclusion from the current WvW matchup need to happen.
