New weapons for heart of thorns expansion

I know this is a bit of a stretch that most likely wont happen BUT i think it would be cool for certain proffessions like the warrior, to be able to dual wield GS’s which would eliminate a need for having a second set of weapons to swap out to, it could easily be implemented as a mastery. Plus i think due to all the nerfs warriors have been getting, it would be a nice compensation from anet.

I agree but not just ice, theres a TON of other themes that could be added to make skins look more flashy like lighting, moving parts on the skin, particle effects etc.

B. Lacking in art design. I know there are some cool looking weapon and armorsets but still it seems like the general consensus is very very ugly vs out of only a handful of good looking skins

Perhaps. But even if such a consensus exists, you’ll find that which of the skins fall into the “good looking” category differs significantly from person to person.

Which is basically the point.

i do agree but again i did say this is subjective. Wirh that being said, alot of my guildies and people i have happened to strike up a conversation with in game have mostly agreed the skins arent in quantity and alot arent particularly interesting looking. But again its subjective to each individual.

I get so confused every time I see a level80 with 400 or less achievement points. My first character had over 1k upon dinging 80.

It took me two weeks to ding 80 playing casually (2-4 hours a day) and ive only just hit 500AP a couple days ago. Ive been playing since jan 26 during the PAX discount.

2-4 hours a day is not casual, casual is an hour every two days

just out of curiosty, what exactly are you doing if you are only loggin in every 2 days just to play for an hour? Because that seems below casual when you take into consideration how long it takes to run a single dungeon, farm, wvw, a couple quests. I dont see how 2 hours a day is considered hardcore.

Im sorry, but you are missing my point

Nowhere does anet state that we have to play with everybody in a casual way.

You dont like the requirements I put up in my group search… so why dont you just make your own group and play the game your own way?

And sorry, but you saying that with 500 ap you are better than everybody you played so far, that makes YOU the elitist, not me. Im just making a good and valid point. The point being:
nobody can force someone else to play the game a certain way
nobody can force anyone to group with him/her

Stop trying to force YOUR way on others. Its getting embarassing. Just dont join groups that write “5k+ ap” or “exp only” in their group search. The community is more than big enough to find other groups.

Btw, a speedrun is a run that completes a certain content as fast as possible by using optimal settings.
How about you grow up a little, so to speak, in gw2 and then we talk again when you spend about 2k hours on gw2? Not really in the mood to discuss with someone something that he has little to no experience with.

Lol you have absolutely every right to setup any dungeon group you want no one is taking that awat from you. 2ndly i did not say im better than everyone, i said that i have outclassed /played better than a majority of the players i have ran dungeons with. Thirdly, again AP dont mean jack as all i do is run dungeons and thats all ive been doing since i hit 80 last month. Just because i dont have a ton of APs doesnt mean i dont have skill which is why im agreeing with the OP.
I also dont have to prove anything to you because this game is 100% EZ mode and please dont talk to me about speed runs because your talking to someone whos guild downed algalon the destroyer in 25man heroic in the first month something you most likely no nothing about since youre very focused on specific AP for running dungeons like really…its a dungeon…with 5 ppl…lol irl.

I dont get why people feel slighted just because others dont want them in their dungeon groups. Its THEIR dungeon group, not yours.

AP is an easy way to determine how much experience someone in general has. Someone with 800 ap wont have more than that one 80 character and only limited gear to boot.
Someone below 5k ap probably wont know all the things necessary to make a speedrun run smoothly.

Ive seen so many below 10k people doing stupid stuff like not staying in corners, dodging backwards, putting down non-fire fields during blasting, putting down reflects when either not necessary or other reflect just put down etc.

So, my educated guess is -> with players below 10k ap my chance on getting a good, competent player are something around 10%. Im not willing to take that chance, so Im putting in the request that only 10k+ ap people join my group, or they will get kicked.

You dont like my attitude? Then why are you even joining my group?

Get it?

@ ekarat
Why are your reflexes not good enough? If it isnt because of some kind of disability, then its just because you havent done it often enough, which can be easily fixed by running dungeons with your guild.
All of our “reflexes” were bad at one point, but by playing the game long enough, getting the knowledge, you get to the point that some things are just easy for you.
2k ap means to me, you havent played the game for longer than about 1k hours? So, Id be expecting you to make mistakes.
There’s enough guilds out there willing to overlook such newbie mistakes as long as you are willing to learn.
So, whats a bad player to do? Get practice with people more knowledgable and nice enough to overlook stupid mistakes.

@ Azrael
Some people, like me, dont have much time, but lots of experience and they play the game above standard. So those people maybe, just maybe, want to get max available content done during the limited time they have each day. Maybe to buy themselves a precursor, or to get achievements done or whatever.
Others are just not willing to spend more time on something then is absolutely necessary.
You obviously want to enjoy the game and have a lot of time on your hand to do it more casually. Others dont. Are they bad people because of it? Nope. They just dont want to play the game at YOUR pace, but their own and look for people capable and willing to keep up. YOU dont want to keep up (dunno if you are capable) so YOUR reaction is to say “those are bad, bad, bad people, they dont want to play the game as I want them to play it”.
Think about it

Again youre missing the point…this is NOT a hardcore mmo, this is a game meant for casuals. As far as speed runs go with pugs, i have yet to see a “zerk speed run. Exp required” group finish a dungeon in under 15 minutes or less, which is considered a speed run by most hardcore raiders. Realistically speed runs dont exist in this game. Also there is no way to know if the random puggers in your group have the right skills/gear to finish a dungeon quicker which makes your argument less vaild. This game has no raids, no truly hard mode for anything, fractals are a joke. I laugh when i see speedrun under a lfg description. Speedruns only belong in a game that requires 110% skill, and groups cant be carried which is not possible in this game anyone with little to no skill can complete a dungeon in explorable with basic fresh 80 gear /stats. If youre looking for elitism YOU belong in a different game, im sorry but that is the fact.

im a newer player to this game and I can agree with you to some extent. Ive come to learn AP acts as an unofficial gear/skill check in this game and while it seems logical that one with alot of AP’s should be great at their proffesion, ive seen numerous times that is not even slightly the case. I just hit 500ap the other day and i get questioned a fair amount of time in dungeons if i know the fight mechanics or the pug leader is only giving me one chance to not mess up or im getting kicked…yet im the one who doesnt get downed or killed and im wrecking a boss with dps, i can out class a majority of players i have played with. In short AP should not act as a skill check because that has nothing to do with how good you play your proffession. Honestly, google, youtube and dulfy should be your best friends on learning how to be a better player.

Talking about ugly armor in GW2 and then compare it with WoW .. im speechless.

I could understand if you compare it maybe with AION … but WoW .. really ?

Lol im not sure if troll or serious….for real, you need to go take a long hard look at all the tier death knight armor and early tier paladin armor then comeback to this post with an opinion.

If I remember my days in WoW, then GW2 has probably 20x the amount of armor/weapon skins as WoW does even w/ their latest expansion. And you basically can change the look of your armor for free by getting transmutation stones from doing the dailies.

I can say with 100% unbiased confidence that this without a doubt is completely false. gw2 has a fraction of the total amount of armor sets that WoW has.

So im a fairly new player to guild wars 2, definitely not new to mmos and not to the franchise as i have played the first guild wars and i had one level 20 that i played with very casually back in highschool. Now, im an ex hardcore WoW Raider, ive been playing that way since vanilla up until Wotlk, then just very casually from CaTa -WoD currently. i was in a realm first progression raiding guild called fusion on the alliance side on a server called kul tiras that i gave up a few years of my late teens to raid with, i ate slept drank WoW nothing else.
Anyway the reason im mentioning this is to make my mmo history relevant because i can factually say that i have literally seen hundreds if not thousands of armor and weapons pieces throughout my mmo carreer and i think anyone can say its painfully obvious that world of warcraft and guild wars are the biggest competition towards eachother. when it comes to WoW, i have seen or had at one point tier 1-17, regular 10 man through 25 man heroic, crafted, raid finder-lfg, mythic, token, dropped, pvp gladiator, you name it ive most likely laid my eyes upon it once.

Now when it comes to guild wars 2, it seems like a majority of gear is either:

A. Lacking in variety for different builds, you only have specific dungeon gear which is essentially token gear from 8 dungeons, (please correct me if i missed any) that you need to specifically spam to get that set in particular for the stats.

B. Lacking in art design. I know there are some cool looking weapon and armorsets but still it seems like the general consensus is very very ugly vs out of only a handful of good looking skins.

Maybe its because i rolled a charr warrior which 95% of any armor looks ugly on the charr but even on other races theres a small handful of skins that i personally think only look good on norns or humans mostly. I know this is all subjective but am i the only one that feels anet has either slacked or ignored the skins in this game? Dont get me wrong there are some really awesome looking skins, Bolt for one and the effects of all 3 legendary GS’s are stellar but then ascended armor just looks really really bland and boring which i think is kinda stupid especially since the amount of mats, gold and time it takes to make them. I do realize gw2 is still a very young mmo so comparing it to the beast that is WoW might not be fair but still i feel the ingame art and effects of the weapons should match the concept art.

Black Lion Scrap Drop Rate

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GiraffeRampage.6420

GiraffeRampage.6420

I figure I must be unlucky, so I buy some gems for another 5 keys, and make up the difference using gold to get another 5 keys on top of that. This time I got 1 scrap from 10 keys.

To clarify. I play blackjack at casinos from time to time, but only with money I am willing to lose because the house always wins. I’ve lost hand after hand and I felt I must have been unlucky. So I increased my bets (usually after several free alcoholic beverages) figuring I was due. Guess what, bust, bust, dealer wins with a 19 on my 18. Next thing I know I’m down another $1,000 because I was trying to win it back. That is the way it works my friend. Just because you think you are due doesn’t mean you will get paid. Main lesson, don’t buy BLKs unless you are ready to lose.

At least with casino gambling I get some entertainment value, meet some cool people, comped a room and some dinners.

Clearly the problem is you suck at blackjack and should always assume the dealer has a higher hand. Either way rng is not fun, its a cheap way for anet to get more money out of you when there alit of people who would gladly buy the skin flat out before prices get kittenedly inflated, i am one of those people.

Would You Like 10-Man Raids (Poll)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GiraffeRampage.6420

GiraffeRampage.6420

Absolutely yes. The simple fact is this is an rpg mmo and there isnt any raids when there is a ton of potential for raid content in this game. I like the idea of just adding a raid option to the already dungeon options. The only problem i see to the current meta game is there is no dedicated trinity which i feel is a must in a raid environment. I dont think that would be impossible to add with the HoT and they could do something to make certain classes more of trinity tank such as a guardian with healing masteries. These are the only things i feel are missing from this game.

Worrying about the release date

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: GiraffeRampage.6420

GiraffeRampage.6420

Christmas is a good bet on release. They said a beta is coming out for the expansion but no time for when it will start. I’m sure we will get filler content between now and the release of HoT.

Sorry, but it’ll release much sooner than that, end of April to sometime in May is a more realistic release date.

The reason for this is that since HoT is supposed to carry on from living story season 2, season 3 won’t start until after HoT is released. The longest living story gap was around 4 months, if they wait any longer than that they risk the player base losing interest in the game due to the lack of content in what is their biggest selling point, the living story.

Nahh im sorry to burst your bubble but that is definitely too soon for the release date especially since they just now showed a trailer, they are still working on content. The whole losing player base argument due to delayed release date is completely irrelevant, daily logins, gem store transactions and game purchases / download data prove the player base is growing. They will most likely release HoT towards the end of the year.

Please stop complaining about warrior nerfs

If you DO NOT have a warrior / role a warrior please do not tell people to stop complaining about nerfs as you have ZERO right to talk about a profession that you do not know anything about.

With that being said, the warrior prof has been nerfed way too many times for my tastes which i think is due to people complaning how op a warrior was. I really wish anet would just leave us alone but give us back our dps and mess with other classes.

Mounts [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: GiraffeRampage.6420

GiraffeRampage.6420

I know im a little late to this thread but i felt like jumping in as many "points of arguments havent been met FOR having mounts.

1.Lets face it, guild wars 2 is a very cosmetic game wether you want to admit it or not. its obviously pushed onto players very heavily (ok looking ascended gear with the best stats but more interesting looking dungeon exotics, legendaries which stats arent particularly legendary but extremely awesome skins, transmutation packages" the gem store is always selling some type of skin for something, having skins just for crafting equipment..that in its own right should defend that gw2 is cosmetic, if you disagree you obviously have not even played the game.

2.Yes there is a fast travel system but waypoints are not free. If you have to travel across the map youre easily looking at spending a few pieces of silver which i will always think is a bogus penalty especially for new players even people who have just hit 80 that arent rich and cant afford 5 silver to get to an area that has their recommended level zone. Yes the game downscales your level in lower levels but still the experience and karma vendors are not retro leveled to reward you for your actual level.

3.Achivements, Replayability of old content, and player grouping which is all tied into eachother. Perfect example is the way world of warcraft has implemented their mount system. For certain mounts that were extremly epic looking you have to complete an achievement which unlocks said epic mount as a reward I couldnt tell you how many times i grouped with people to rerun ulduar and icecrown citadel to get all the protodrake and vanquisher mounts which i still to this day think are the coolest looking mounts in that game. Dont even get me started in zul’aman for the tiger mount. Again youre talking about playing with other people to achv the same goal, that by itself is an experience and makes people want to work together and keep the game just because there are players out there who want every achievement possible.

4. Profit. Arenanet’s gem store would explode on itself with profits on mounts. Again another really good example is world of warcrafts gamestore, they profit selling certain mounts that cant be collected in game otherwise. People that play guild wars 2 especially older players sink alot of money on skins and gems as it is, imagine how much more money they would profit if they sold certain mounts. This is a f2p game youre talking about that profits off microtransactions, think about it…

5. A new farming addiction. This kindve goes back into number 3, people would farm really hard to get all the amounts, its already done for legendaries and dungeon armor i see no difference.

6. Mounts look cool anyway you cut it. Sitting atop a dragon or a giant scorpion or on the shoulders of a cyclops ogre just makes you want to run around the world for no reason. Again thats refreshing gameplay value. If you disagree with this you literally have no reason to be playing video games in general because you lack imagination.

7. Self-accomplishment and pride. Imagine how it feels knowning you busted your kitten to unlock a mount that took forever to get, that makes most people give up on the journey for that mount.

I could literally go on and on about how mounts should be implemented in an mmo game in general i see no reason why it shouldnt be implemented.
