Ya, I know about the changes ( I miss the old version). Sometimes I wait and wait and it never does the twirl/water jet thing and if sploded no combo heal. Was just curious if it is a bug that it doesn’t always work or if I need to figure out how I’m kitten it. Thanks for response tho.

Since the change I have only played my engi for maybe 100 hours, so take note of that

I have observed it to be 100% reliable when activated at the right time. At first, I disliked the changes, but after getting used to it, I find it significantly more effective than it used to be when using a blast finisher in the water field. Without that, it is so-so (imo, of course).

It’s unreliable unless activated immediately after dropping it. I tend to just drop > overcharge > explode immediately for the big burst heal, personally love it since the changes. That said I have had it fail to activate a few times even when furiously trying to overcharge it right after I drop it.

Ok I should have said it better..But majority of gom are bad in pvp..ive seen some good ones also. Point I was trying to make was during tkitten no seige bug, Gom kept getting whiped everywhere. Now that seige is back…they r back to trebbing Anz 24/7, trebbing our keep or using golems which fail everytime cause they dont bother to take out oil.

To gom: Dont rely heavily on seige…maybe this is why you are one of the low servers.

I literally laughed out loud just now. Which is bad because I’m still at work, but whatever.

1) Seige is a huge part of WvW. In fact, one could argue the entire mode was based around seige. You’re supposed to use it heavily.

2) “maybe this is why you are one of the low servers” – Not sure if you noticed, but we’re all in the same tier here.

3) There are quite a few reasons we’re in one of the lower tiers, but the use of seige is definitely not one of them. I’m not going to get into details, but what a ridiculous statement.

4) From what I’ve seen we have just as many good pvpers out there as any of the other servers we’ve fought. Making blanket statements about the skill level of a server’s players is both incredibly subjective and impossible to prove, but you can believe whatever you like.

Silly GoM, everyone knows you are supposed to auto attack keep doors down while working in groups of 5 or less.

I tried this once with a party member. Those kitten doors are OP. After a few minutes, I threw a treb down right in front of the gate, figuring it’d do max damage at point blank range. Sadly, the build spot was destroyed by the time we got back with more supply. Finally, we threw a flame ram in front of the wall to see if it was as OP as the gate, but by then people had shown up and killed us while we were trying to build it! PvDoor is really, really hard.

I have a screen shot of genius flame ram placement on my desktop at home, but sadly did not get shots of the auto attacking or the treb.

I didn’t think XOXO took towers but this mornin I saw the SPCA/tM/XOXO trifecta holdin Lake tower on Gates of Madness. Blew my mind and totally killed me =(

Screenshots, or it didn’t happen! I refuse to believe that XOXO would ever stoop as low as to do some actual WvW’ing.

Haha, I can at least post the flame ram placement when I get home this evening. With the new random opponents, I’m not too worried about you guys seeing our super leet strategies. You can even surprise other servers with them!

Can confirm some amazing strategies. For example I’ve seen the power of the XOXO wall rams with my own eyes and have been practicing it since. Sadly I have not been able to master it.

Sorry I guess I wasn’t very clear. I was using it as an example of if the match ups changed on such a frequent basis of every week or so it might not be possible/practical to just transfer back.

Just speaking in hypothetical situations as we don’t really know what’s going to happen yet.

I’m sure it’s being put in to break up some of the more long-standing match ups in every tier, cause people likely get bored fighting the same servers/guilds all the time.

Unfortunately it also spells doom for this project, theoretically. It might not be TOO bad though, even if it shifts every week it should only be the T7/T8 servers cycling in and out, and you could probably encourage the small groups on those other servers to get on board with your project by designating one of the BLs each night as the roaming zone, as has been suggested/used before. Biggest issue comes from say HoD moving up, then PAXA and KoM are screwed for however long it takes to get back down. To keep the utopia going you might have to increase your influence to all the T7/8 servers. Granted that all depends on how often it’s going to shift, and is quite the idealistic feat.

Haha. After a whole evening of very little activity in the BLs we decided to go to EB and get zerged to death out of boredom… Little did we know we’d run into you guys and have a couple nice fights.
We also deployed the bugzapper technique in one of the camps and had some fun fights against DR zergs, which caused us to stay on much later than usual. It was a pleasantly surprising experience.

To the 4 AD/RegA/whatever else, was a fun couple fights. Sorry for zerging you over on that last one, all our friends decided to come out at once and we can’t say no.

You also had a 20v20 guild versus guild battle? I didn’t realize you were such a heavy weight, XOXO.

It was an organised 7 v 8 ( 4 XOXO 3 SPLT) then a 5 v 8 agains’t WvW. I think they wanted to practice their group synergy. They also fought DR guilds. It was nice and we had fun.

Just to correct a bit, since people are always bound to get hung up on numbers: First one we had Rackin too, so it was 8v8. Second one I think a PuG joined us mid-way so that was 6v8.

Was fun either way, glad to see people trying to practice and learn.

Just to add in,

Look at T8 if you’re on the more hardcore side of small group roaming (less than 10, usually 5-7), they’ve been working hard on creating a competitive environment for small groups to test their mettle.

T7 is nice for its variety, there’s small groups, large groups, zergs, etc. I’d consider it a better fit for med-larger groups (10-20). Just beware of the WvW thread drama.

I recall fighting 3, or maybe 4 Splt guys at Redvale a few nights ago. One engi, one guardian and something else I can’t remember. They held their own very well but I guess we eventually overran them, as more and more people kept streaming into the camp from Bay.

Would’ve been me then, thanks for the compliment. We were DPS Guard, Warrior, and full kitten support Engineer, can’t remember if we brought a 4th but we probably did at some point. That was honestly some of the most fun roaming I’ve had in a long time.

I believe I said it before but here it is again: I’m sorry I insulted you and caused negativity.

I’m pretty much the only one in my guild that ever posts on the boards and I usually try to represent us better than I did at that time. I regret that our first interaction was in such a negative way just because of my own selfishness. Seeing as how this thread has turned into a kitten-storm I want to make clear my guild has no ill-will toward you guys, and I’d like to try to be a civil opponent. This drama with the couple choice people I don’t agree with at all and I’m rather ashamed that my guild is being lumped in with them because of a mistake I made last week.

So consider this my olive branch. I hope we can both have good fights regardless of the numbers involved and maybe even become respected opponents. I know I’ve already made the latter a little harder.

There is way too much drama in this thread. Anyways, fun fights last night with SPCA, XOXO, and SPLT in the ruins. I finally got to witness Kevin getting spiked. Too bad we lost pretty much every other fight. Was fun anyway! I like the comment Kevin made about fight cubs turning red name tags into people. That’s deep man. Cheers all!

You guys should come to t7. Between DR and NS there’s already 7-8 roaming guilds.

NSP only has 1 small-man guild, spca. All the other self-proclaimed ones only small-man until they lose at which point they keep coming back with more until they can win.

Xoxo and splat run groups, too.

We usually just run the five of us or less. Unless the action is way too zergy.

Yeah they used to do that at first until they died a few times, at which point they decided to roll with zergs or go “cannon spec.”

Perhaps if you guys lose to them a bunch of times with even numbers they wont run with zergs or bring zergs to kill you because they couldn’t stand the idea of trying harder.

Heh. Splt runs with whoever is on, and we don’t turn down friends who wanna run with us. We typically bust zergs, which while SF was in our tier was our main focus so anytime you’d come across us it was when we had no interest fighting 5v5 or whatever. Aside from that once PAXA started hitting us with less numbers then complaining about us zerging (often times even after I gave one of them a friendly warning that we weren’t running 5/other zergs were nearby) we started zerging them just to troll, which since you often ran with them you got caught up in the crossfire. We gave both you and PAXA some relatively equal fights here and there, but again that usually wasn’t our focus most nights. I’m sorry we couldn’t be better opponents.

Either way, I guess you’d be right in saying we aren’t super competitive, but I don’t know where people got that impression anyway.

Hope you guys can find what you’re looking for and this T8 roaming tier works out, I agree it’s probably the best place for it if only cause of the stability.

Let’s cut through the crap and discuss reality.

We were running around 12-15 again tonight. At times we had others following us that push “our” numbers to 20. We can’t control that. DR people know who we are and they follow along.

Early in the night we were in NSP BL, I believe. We had some fights against XOXO/SPCA/Splt/tM that were roughly even numbered but I’m guessing we had the number advantage due to friendly DR players. I’m truly sorry for that, but what do you want me to do? Send a tell to each friendly DR player telling them not to jump in the fight?

Take a look at the second screenshot. Yes, you are probably outnumbered (but not by a huge amount) but the reason why is because YOU decided to engage us next to a DR tower that had defenders in it. Did you not expect them to jump into the fight? That loss was your fault for chosing a horrible place to fight. Period. It wasn’t because you got got zerged by US.

We were running around with outmanned in that zone for most of the night but some of the main DR forces came into the zone. When we noticed that you were having to deal with us and them we left the zone to help you. Yes, we left the zone to give you some freedom to fight the DR that had come into the zone without having to worry about us.

We went to GoM BL but so did SPCA and Splt it seems. That is what led to the fight near your spawn. That is the top screenshot. Now, take a look at that screenshot. Notice that all friendly and enemy players are in front of me and there are no green dots near us. Would you say we were running with 20 there or with relatively equal numbers?

It really looks bad for you when you exaggerate our numbers. We pushed you back to your spawn. Unlike others I don’t like dying to legendary defenders so I called us back across the river, not to flank you but to give us some room to fight you. We stayed in the ruins for what would have been a relatively equal numbered clean fight but you decided to not come out and fight us away from your portal keep.

That’s your decision but don’t say it was because we had 20 people. The screenshot does not lie.

You guys have the numbers and skill to compete against us but you will have to get on voice together. Not being on voice together is a huge disadvantage.

I was waiting for someone to bring in some reality. Thank you. You are very correct in what you said and kudos for replying in such a civil way. No doubt I exaggerated plenty, it was one of those nights where I was just looking for an excuse to be a kitten. So now I’ll cut the crap and say props for running such a tight group, we didn’t stand a chance tonight but it’s silly to expect WvW to revolve around my group anyway hehe.

I had a PAXA moment and turned to the forums to vent my angst, sorry about that. Now that it’s out of my system I feel a lot better, so let me just say I’ve really been enjoying the match up and opponents out there this week, I can only hope it will be even better next week.

JW … I haven’t seen a single stand out player in this match up. The only noticeable things are a few tank builds that just draw fights out and still lose.
