Not as odd as you might think, it’s an age-old tradition held by PAXA and friends to catapult a tower or keep in order to draw out a zerg to kill. It is a necessary evil that we must endure at times.

We don’t set up 1on1 matches. We aren’t about our “image” or “pride”. We WvW to have fun, and frankly, facing you isn’t very fun. Last time I went 3on3 with you guys it lasted about 10-15 mins with no results, until more of my guildies came and your thief just picked us off one by one while when you got low on health you just ran back into your spawn.

Again, no thanks. We’ll fight when we randomly run into you, just like everyone else.

We are not really recruiting because we’re not a very serious guild. But if you don’t mind playing with only 2-3 people after 8-9 pm, feel free to send me a message in game. We’re pvping only, and helping our server when GoM or HoD zergs are pushing too far in our territory.

The guild I’m in runs pretty small groups usually as well, and are just out looking for fun fights. If you need some help zerg busting give me a holler in-game and we’ll see if we can’t join up.

You are playing a different game than we are. Your goal is kills. Our goal is points. It is as simple as that.

It’s not even just that since they have equal scorn for players who try to duel, players who set-up battles, fight clubs, etc..

all styles of play that are kill focused but that still don’t meet their requirements for being “valid” game play.

Case in point: one of the first nights they transferred off NSP to HoD, we gathered a group to fight them. We found each other in the south and proceeded to butt heads over and over, whenever one of us would lose we’d regroup, go collect stacks off mobs and meet in roughly the same place again. Multiple times we would hold off attacking if the other was building stacks, and even disengaged to kill a GoM group that interfered, then regrouped and attacked each other again. This was great fun but it sounds pretty respectful and set-up to me.
Not to mention the time when tM was fighting them 3v3 over and over and most people who came across them watched or just walked away. Clearly none of us involved had a problem respecting an even battle, so why do some people act like it’s below them? We still tend to leave PAXA alone if we come across them and they’re already engaged in a fight, and I’m pretty sure they do the same. We only recently started screwing with them and participating in taking them down with uneven numbers on occasion because sometimes we get bored and they’ve run over our guys 5v1 a few times, it’s nothing personal but there’s payback to be had!

I’m sure saying this makes you feel good, but from having run with the PAXA folks for an evening a few days back, my experience was that it went more like this:
1. PAXA 5 man takes a camp
2. 20 invaders from NSP or GoM show up to take camp back, and PAXA 5 man kills all of them.
3. Move on to a different camp

We do this as well.
Usually we have 3 or 4 people in WvW a night so we do what we’re capable of: taking camps. There is little incentive to fight other players in this game mode, and I understand that, so we take the objectives we can and hope for a fun fight to come our way, heck sometimes we attack towers and keeps just to draw enemies out to fight.
My only real annoyance is that there’s no reason to send smaller groups to the smaller objectives like camps, it’s more efficient to just zerg it on your way to something bigger and come back after 5 min, this makes it hard for our smaller group to do what I thought we were supposed to do, which is take the smaller objectives while the large groups take the keeps. Such is the nature of the game though, and when the numbers get too big for our group we try to grab some friends and increase our numbers to 6-10 to zerg bust, if that’s not possible we just run around attacking stuff to screw with them or log-out due to boredom.

As another poster put it quite well, I’m definitely playing a different game, because as far as I’m concerned it’s up to you to create your own fun and zerging isn’t very fun to me. I’m not about to tell other people they should change their perspective of fun to suit mine though, but hey maybe that’s other people’s version of fun!

With all that said are the Carebears recruiting? I think I’m becoming one.

I usually see PAXA here in the forums with NSP signatures. Yesterday (or might have been the day before) I saw a PAXA group in HoD. What is your situation exactly? Did you guys all transfer? Is it permanent or temporary?

Also for NSP in general. I’ve heard some good things about the battles you’re having on this tier. How would you compare them to battles in T6?

Temporary I believe, they should be back Friday. Personally I think this matchup is better suited for us, battles have been fun. Only downside is it can be hard to find fights after primetime, for that I miss ALS.

You still haven’t realized this is a Casual, Mass Scale, PvP environment? The goal is objectives requiring large forces to take, just because we prefer smaller fights and flipping camps doesn’t mean everyone does, in fact lots of people probably came to this game specifically for the large battles. It would be like playing Planetside 2 and complaining about everyone sitting in tank columns and zerging Tech Labs instead of fighting 5v5v5 inside an empty facility because you want k/d.
Despite your best efforts I don’t think this game is going to be DAoC 2.0…

Also it looks to me that Toble and others have invited you to have some organized 5v5s, yet you’d rather their guild give up on their overall objective and run around in small groups all night just to please you… come on, how selfish is that?

This stuff is seriously getting childish, everyone just play the stupid game the way they prefer or yell at each other in tells if that’s too complicated.

On that note time to stop feeding the trolls.

Glaez, you’re a cool dude. But if you’re going to include someone in a post, you should probably actually read their posts rather than taking the word of someone that pretty obviously doesn’t like us (in this case me specifically). I have never once complained about zergs. I just respond to the individuals like Plok from BP that gloat about beating us 15v5. I’m completely fine with losing those fights, but I don’t think that it’s anything to gloat about… just as we don’t gloat about beating those solo roamers or smaller groups. Here, I’ll just leave you with a quote of mine from the previous page:

Fair enough, there’s a lot of immature squabbling in these threads and my memory skips some lines here and there. My apologies.

Regardless, both sides make fine points and seem to not listen to one another but such is the nature of forums I guess, I’m no different.

I just don’t understand why people make it a personal crusade to tell everyone else how their way of playing is better than someone else’s, the reason I’m playing devil’s advocate for zergs and kind of harping on PAXA, though I guess it’s more Jscull, is primarily because lately it seems like people are spewing junk for no reason other than to cause hate, and all sides should take a step back if someone else’s play makes you that upset.
I admit I only started reading the drama a few weeks ago so I’m likely not all caught up, but if it’s been spanning that long I think it’s time to suck it up and agree to disagree.
If people like Plok, for example, feel the need to run me over 15+v5 and gloat on the forums, that just means I got under their skin in a video game and I have a little chuckle.

At this point I’m forcing my ideals onto people in a video game forum… Good Lord, I’m not cut out for this! I’ll see myself out.

I don’t even know if people know/care about my guild, we are pretty small and casual, but I just feel the need to say a couple things.

@Toble, for what it’s worth I run with an average of 3-5 people a night, we like small man fights, and aside from camps would rather kill enemies than attack objectives. That said, I appreciate the larger guilds such as Os because without those larger guilds to focus on the bigger picture and keep the other large guilds busy, we would just get run down by enemy zergs constantly.

Zerging is part of the game, it always will be and I for one completely understand it. WvW is casual man’s PvP, it lets inexperienced people participate without a ton of pressure on themselves.
I also enjoy the unpredictable nature of it, and the fact that not all fights are created equal. I get annoyed from time to time getting chased down by 20 bloodthirsty people, but that just means my group has overstayed our welcome and got caught. Also let’s be honest, more often than not when my group kills 2-3 times our numbers it’s due to less experienced players or upleveled players on the other side, so advantages go both ways.

In the end this is a large scale casual PvP game mode, why does anyone have the right to tell others that their way of playing it is wrong, or makes them a noob, and so on? Everyone has their own perception of fun, and people should do what they prefer.

@PAXA, I love you guys, I don’t always agree with your philosophy, but I enjoy playing with you. I personally love when we get 10-15 people together and go bust the 30 man zergs, I mean you play with what you’re given, and if all you’re given is zergs it’s time to go kill them! Yesterday 6 of us couldn’t find any small fights to save our lives so we zerg busted GoM with some people from our server for over a half hour in the hills/fishing camp/tower area, and it was glorious.
I’ll try to get 5-6 together (Thanks Wafflez/Dravul) and kill your 5-6 more often if you prefer Henge though.

I think it’s time NSP stop infighting so much and just go kill the enemy, whichever way they prefer to do so.

Man I fought SPLT lately, and like I said before they have the best Ranger I ever fought.

But I’m not sure they are still considered a small group, the last time I fought them they were a lot. That night we had a 4 players roaming group, but fighting them was way too much ahaha.

Props to them, I don’t know if they are a new group, but it’s cool to fight some new face!

[Splt] has been running as long as we have. They run 3-4 people a night. That’s it. So once again your math is kinda up in the air. [PAXA] has at least a 5 man every night on some BL.

Once again? When did I wrote about any kind of number? It’s the first time I talk about number, and If you whisper the norm ranger from split, I’m sure he wll be able to confirm they were a lot when we fought them. He bowed to me afterward, so I’m pretty sure he will remember about it.

I will give you one thing : Maybe they were not all SPLT, it’s hard to check with the culling involved.

Jscull is correct in that we’ve been around since release, and we typically have 3 people in WvW each night. That said we have a small guild roster of friends that mostly PvE but will join us in WvW from time to time, so sometimes we’ll have 4-5, other times 8-10.
We like to roam around and pick fights and have a good time, bringing what we can when we can. We just also happen to prefer a smaller party most times.

In regards to the night you speak of we were indeed running 8 or so, give or take. I had to tell a couple guildies not to overextend on you or they’d get 1-shot, I then proceeded to attempt to 1v3 you and 2 thieves for a couple seconds and got myself blown up. It was rather amusing.

Thanks for the shoutouts and props, for what it’s worth the ranger you speak of said you’re the highest damage person he’s ever fought.

P.S. None of us really like to 1v1, except the ranger when the rest of us aren’t on, so no offense if we gang up on you.

Like those kitten people from the WAR guild on Anvil Rock, I’m trying to hunt a zerg and they kill them all!

Yea we have been practicing ZERG busting with whatever we have on at the time. Figure with all the complaining about, “zerg” this and “zerg” that, I would find a way to best wipe em. Don’t know how many times we wiped trying to figure it out but we are making progress. So if you’re in a zerg thank you! You are only making my guild better by pushing us into crappy situations. Keep up the good wvw play everyone.

Sorry, it isn’t often I jump into a Zerg, and usually it’s when the enemy Zerg has found me solo.

So my boys decided to play LoL, and let dear old dad weather a night with the girls in WvW. They’ve definately got better. We died as a trio once until I realized they are extremely loyal, and will not retreat, unless I reatreat.

Fought a new group though; “splat”, from NSP, fights almost identical to PAXA. Sorry I didn’t die there at Redvale Refuge, though you guys got my 11 year old daughter twice. My 9 year old definately has the Elementalist get out of jail card abilities down well, she was all over the place. I had a hell of a time keeping up with her on my Mesmer.

I was expecting a far, far worse performance though, because last time those two died, alot.

I think this might be the first time anyone’s mentioned my guild tag, I’m kind of honored.

I assure you we aren’t a new group, (been around since launch) just a bunch of casual friends who rarely have 5 on each night and tend to go under the radar.
Sorry if we bullied your daughters, we just go out to kill red names and have a good time, so I can’t say I remember you specifically but last night was pretty fun, we even got a few of our guys away from the PvE to come kill people.

In any case, congrats on getting the family into WvW, I wish them the best of luck and hope they become great PvPers some day. Here’s to more fun fights in the future!
