You could play better and not use it at all.

I have retraited with 30 in tactics and i’m doing more than fine, and still decent damage. I just thought maybe for the sake of preserving the little build diversity we already have, it would be a good idea to not have to go back to shouts for healing. And there is no way i rolled a warrior to be a ranged class, not happening.
That was not the point of this post at all, nothing to do with preserving my own little niche build, i was thinking about other classes as well as that buff was enabling greater build diversity by making up for some weaknesses.
Guess i’ll keep my two cents and go buy some cheap candy.
Before I begin, let me clarify some things:
a.) Yes, I am a zerk war and i have been using omnom pies as a way to increase sustain and survivability extensivelty.
b.) Yes, I agree that ANet had to do something about the extent to wich the buff could be used to regain an incredible amount of health when surrounded by large amounts of mobs.
As an avid dungeon runner, I have gotten used to tanking for the ranged classes, and often help out pugs lokking for help on any dungeon because the omnom buff enabled a good level of sustain for the warrior and i was enjoying this.
With that said, I believe that they have nerfed it more that it actually needed to be, making it almost useless compared to what i believe it was intended to do at first.
At a 1 sec cooldown, i find it to be completely useless, and while i’m still PERFECTLY fine gameplay wise, I had to adapt my strategies to this and switch to ranged at more than regular intervals, and i’m not enjoying this. I know I won’t be buying omnom pies again if it stays like this, because the other lvl 80 foods are simply way better… (butternut squash soup anyone?)
Let’s be honest… 66% chance to have 300 hp back every second might sound nice at first, but the fact is you have to be dealing constant damage for it to proc. I am here to promote talk about coming up with a middleground…
I believe if not mistaken the point of this nerf was to keep large aoe attacks like the axe whirl and hb for example to steal a ridiculous amount of health. So… what about a 0.5 cd? People who were not abusing this before would still be able to a a nice bit of sustain to their builds when in difficult situations and still keep it from being abused. Still op? why not simply a decrease in chance to proc?
I’m in no way QQing, I just don’t personnaly agree with that change… discuss!
TL;DR IMO, a-net might have nerfed omnoms a bit too much and rendered the food almost completely useless compared to other buffs out there, not only effectively fixing the exploits that were relying on this, but negating the advantages alltogether.
a 0.5 sec cooldown, maybe paired with a decrease in chance to proc could bring back a little bit of usefulness to it don’t you think?
