JMad,
Legion is a casual, cross-server guild with most of our population and events centred on TC. We do a little of everything content wise, including RP and are always open to new players still learning the content. We have a number of great people who really enjoy teaching things like dungeon mechanics.
I won’t ramble on more, check out the links in my sig for more info!
Up to the top with you!
Anyone who will be around TC this weekend who wants to come try some guild missions with us is welcome to attend. We’ll be meeting up at Archen Foreland WP in Bloodtide at 8:30pm Server tonight, and again at 11:30am Server on Sunday.
Come out and meet some people to game with!

Did you want an invite to the Legion as well?
Welcome Evernite! Invite headed your way shortly. Have fun here!
Welcome Ferreno, hope you find what you need in this thread!
Skydown, welcome! I will send you an in-game invite shortly. I’ll be honest, I was just about done with GW2 when I found this group via the first O:U thread (Linked in OP). Since then I’ve made a number of friends and really enjoy playing the game again thanks to the company. I hope you’ll find the same thing.
Anyone who wants to see what we are about and take part in some guild missions is welcome come meet us around 12:45pm Server at Archen Foreland WP in Bloodtide (by the pass to LA) on Sunday. We will be on Tarnished Coast for the missions.

Hey there Panda!
Welcome! I’ll get you an in-game invite shortly. We do have a number of people who really enjoy running Personal Story quests (Dax and Jadz especially), and there are usually a few people levelling characters as well (mostly in Crown Pavilion right now). Feel free to jump in and ask around in guild chat!
Plenty of people around are willing to help out understanding some of the content too, especially when you get a bit higher at start looking for some dungeons (5 person group content).
For any who might be interested in coming out and seeing what we’re like, we will be doing our weekly NA guild missions at 13:00 server on Tarnished Coast.
We meet at Archen Foreland WP in Bloodtide, show up 10-15 minutes early and ask to come along! You can always whisper if you are unsure
Hey Sacro, Cat and Fal! Good to see some familiar names calling out on here.
Atlas and Ryan, welcome to O:U! Hope you find what you need through this thread.
We are the guild that formed out of a bunch of players banding together via the Operation : Union Project
As more of us have came together, we added structure just to keep things held together. We are still a place with the casual, no-rep required, come in and be social side. But we’ve also become a place where people can stay involved and call home in GW2 as their primary or only guild. We’ve unlocked all the guild missions and run them once a week along with a number of other events.
At this time, our events and much of our population are centred on Tarnished Coast (NA). All NA players are of course welcome to guest over to take part. It’s unfortunate that the limited guesting means EU players cannot do this, but our EU friends are welcome to join, take part in guild chat and build up influence on their side too!
We enjoy all aspects of the game, and have members engaged in PvE, dungeons, WvW, PvP and RP. And while our attitude is casual, it doesn’t stop us from striving to improve our level of play either!
Rather than type more, I’ll just link you to What we are all about
and a link to Join Us
A lot of what has been said here is spot on.
Zerk is the dungeon meta for the sole reason that you can memorize a dungeon and all of it’s mechanics and then dodge anything that really hurts. You can’t do that in WvW or PvP, where there is arguably a “bunker” meta.
So, a more adaptive AI on bosses would definitely help. Making fights against mobs feel more fluid and organic, and far less predictable would already shift things away from always Zerk.
The next problem is bosses who have one dangerous burst and the rest can be ignored. Again, you can learn the tell and dodge the dangerous thin, and ignore the rest even without tanky gear. Having mobs and bosses designed to do more consistent damage over time so that the whole party can’t just dodge everything would help.
Agony is the supreme example of doing it wrong. Agony attacks are single, large damage, telegraphed bursts. On top, HP pool and toughness have no effect on it what so ever. So why bring anything other than Zerk and maybe a source of Vigour?
The final problem is ANet can’t seem to design content that is attrition build friendly, or even that all of their classes work in for that matter. The gauntlet is a prime example. Rather than making the fight the challenge, an artificial time limit is a good part of the challenge. And that time limit means you have to run Zerker to have a chance (I’m sure someone out there will do it in other gear, but you get the point). It was the same thing with that Golem on SSC, get him down to a certain HP level and he does constant, ramping up damage. Again, your only option here is to bring a lot of high-powered direct damage.
To keep up with the latest post from the old thread, for someone looking for some help this Saturday:
Hey i was wondering if anyone would like to help me do all the new events and things that had been added since the Sky pirates with me on Saturday at 1:30 pm (GMT -08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada) if so PM me.
Hey all! I really, hate to do this, even just to keep things fresh, but after 36 pages we’ve moved!
We’ve gone to a new thread to be more up to date and keep our information fresh.
Come find us here:
“Operation : Union 2”: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Operation-Union-Bringing-Players-Together-2
If a moderator could close this thread, that would be much appreciated. It it can be retained intact as an archive, that would be even more appreciated.
Hey everybody!
As many of you already know, O:U is a massive thread here on the Players Helping Players subforum. Glitch started O:U to create a hub for people looking for help in GW2, regardless of their home server. At first it was for dungeon runs, but quickly it became a place where people could meet to offer or ask for help on anything in the game, or even just to meet other players and be social.
To make communicating in game easier we started a guild, the Legion of Honour, and many people have signed up for this during the game’s first year. Our roster grew quickly and we currently have 200+ members. We also have a website that is filled with helpful information and fun threads. Link
Since Glitch started this thread, many people have found the help they needed, joined guilds on their own server, or guilds more suited to their playstyle. Others left the game completely. This has left both our roster and the O:U thread filled with people who are no longer active in GW2. Because of this, the size and the vast amount of information in the original thread, we’ve decided to start afresh with a new O:U thread.
We still want to help everybody who asks for help, but we’re offering you a choice.
Recognising some people may not want another guild in their life, if you are just looking for some people to help you out in a particular thing, or are offering help to anybody who needs it, then by all means use this thread to find or offer that help.
If you want to join Legion of Honour, you are most welcome. We still don’t expect you to rep us all the time, but we do like to see you active in the guild every now and then, asking or offering help or just dropping by to say hello.
If you find you like the Legion a lot, you’ll find we have most of the nice guild things and we will welcome you to take a more active part and make a bit more of a commitment to the guild. But, it’s still a place where you can stay a casual member and just come in to be social or find groups.
We will post here periodically about fun gatherings the Legion of Honour is having and invite any GW2 player to come take part (server region permitting) and we invite other players and groups to use this thread to do the same. So check back here now and then for any updates
If you have any questions about O:U you can contact us through our website. Or get a hold of one of our officers:

tl;dr – Operation: Union is still going strong – if you need help or want to help others with things in game read this wall of text and post here
*Currently the majority of our activity takes place on the NA region servers, however we do have EU region members and would love to grow that side of the support in game too.

Going to have to agree with the OP. I love the concept of the guantlet, but the ticket gating and running back after failing are really annoying.
Worse though, are the three critical issues:
1. Lag from the farming zerg below can make some fights unplayable. It’s silly to have to fight this when we know Anet can make single player instances (Canach).
2. Small room means the camera will be less than friendly. Again, we should be fighting the content, not the controls.
3. The queue and time limit. Again, artificial gating shouldn’t be needed, and because of the queue there now needs to be a time limit. Goodbye anyone who plays attrition style combat. This is just silly in a game that encourages build diversity (supposedly) and already has more than enough content where Zerk is best. Make the content of the fight challenging, rather the sticking an arbitrary time limit on it.
Hi Siya!
I would encourage you to take a look at the links in my signature. While there are a few changes going on in the Legion as we update things after the first year, Operation:Union is still a good place to come and find friendly dungeon groups willing to explain what’s going on.
Or just whisper me in game some time. Good luck out there!
The trick with Ruby Orbs vs Scholar runes is it depends. Where your Crit Damage and Crit Chance are before adding the upgrades can make a difference on which is better.
If you have quite a low crit chance beforehand, you likely should use something else. However, the scholar runes will do better for you since they add more power along with the +10% damage (if your health is over 90% a lot).
On the other hand, if you have low power and high crit chance, the ruby orbs are likely to be more useful as they add more crit damage and that 10% bonus is less attractive.
Just some thoughts, but in short, look at your build and run the numbers.
Welcome to the party Dr. Drill! Not too many serious orders to follow here, but it can be useful to have a guide for dungeons or a party lead on guild missions. But we’re pretty friendly about it.
Feel free to dive right in and join in guild chat. If you need help with anything, by all means ask away!
Both candidates will keep the survival game from the current descriptions.
I have to be honest, I think I see what the Cutthroat Politics team was trying to do. Kiel is cast better in cut-scenes and has had previous character development. In contrast, Evon has the Abbadon fractal and key discounts (let’s face it, put to a poll on the fractal only Abbadon would win popular support because it is better known and has the word god in it). It seems like the team was going for a character verses coin type of contest.
Which would be an interesting race, if players couldn’t just buy votes. The problem there being, the people most likely to buy gems or who have vast quantities of gold are the most likely to have the disposable resources to buy keys. They are also the most likely to buy votes to influence the election. Many of them (since they see the opportunity to stockpile keys) will no doubt cast their lot behind Evon.
Given a one-vote per account system I think the race could be close. As it stands however, I expect the “gold” votes to mostly flow for Evon. Between that and the popularity of the Abaddon story, I think Kiel has a tough campaign ahead.
It is also an interesting choice to put these two particular fractals against each other. To be perfectly honest, I would have preferred to see Abaddon and the Reactor as the definite fractals and then have the Molten and Aetherblade ones up for voting. I thoroughly enjoyed the Molten Facility dungeon. In contrast, the Aetherblade dungeon was fun for the challenge but a huge train wreck in terms of design and interaction with the game’s classes.
From the list of four fractals, this vote is excluding one of the two I would most want to see in favour of a distant third (Molten) and even more distant fourth (Aetherblade)
Okay, site ate my post yesterday. Sorry guys!
Feremist: invite sent.
Alec and Syrph: the project is joining into the guild portion of this, where people gather with guild chat to find groups to play with. There is also a more core guild to it if you are interested in getting involved.
Syrph, I’ve sent an invite since you said you could join.
Alec, any interest in joining the guild? If not, please feel free to use this tread to find people to play with!
Welcome to all those who have recently posted! I’ve been unable to get in game effectively for the last couple days or so, but I think it is sorted now.
If for some reason you can’t get a hold of DEK for event info, please feel free to contact me as well.
Oh and anything RP event related, please ask!
Interesting Puppy.
I didn’t think Skyrim had a slot for it either, though the mod somehow made it work. Then, they were also able to add cloaks without taking up a normal slot, so it is possible these “layers” were included as a mod resource but not the base game.
It was a thought at any rate. And adding the layer would allow ANet a lot more flexibility, as you say.
So, more layers Anet?
A complaint I keep seeing, especially for long-haired characters of either gender, is that helms make the character’s hair disappear. Obviously, clipping is a large issue and ANet cannot make every helm work with every hair style.
However, I would like to suggest a solution I have seen used very successfully in a Skyrim mod, which could work here should the devs choose to pursue it.
The mod added a number of “under helmet hairs” to the game. Two for each race was enough, one wavy and one curly. These under helmet hair models are equipped only when wearing a helm and are specifically modeled to fit under the helmet and stick out some.
ANet may be able to take the same approach here – adding under helmet hair to the character equip screen with a show on/off toggle. This could either be an accessory players pick up and equip, or the devs could key it to match the characters chosen hair colour and style (straight vs curly). There could also be short and long versions, depending on the detail Anet wants to pursue.
With any luck, this approach would mean only a few hair models need to be made, making the entire endeavor feasible.
Seeing this too. Just submitted a bug/support ticket in game.
Welcome Varakkys!
As Snowhound mentioned, there are some definite attempts going on to gather the EU players together more. Also look for Noppy around guild chat, who has also been trying to collect EU players together for groups.
^ Just wanted to give some more detail on this week’s RP event for any who may be popping in.
This week we’re taking it easy, and the Legionnaires will be having a good old Beach Cookout and cliff diving contest! Whisper me near the start of the event (Sunday at 10am Server) or come find us on TC, at the beach in Lion’s Arch just north of Diverse Ledges WP!
Welcome all the new faces!
Darth, Kepth, Tartan and Ambar – looks like invites have already been sent your way! Please let me know if you have not gotten them (press G in game to open the guild screen). Have fun in the Legion!
RP Event goes again tomorrow at 10am Server. We’ll be running a patrol of Southsun Cove so characters of any level are welcome!
Check Legion guild chat or whisper me in the morning and I’ll let you know what is going on!
Hi Overlord, and welcome to the group and the boards!
We do have a vent, but it’s never required for anything. Sometimes people join in just to listen during guild events as well, not everyone has a mic.
I’ll send you an invite in the next couple minutes. Feel free to jump into the guild chat to find groups for content! There is also the website in my sig, we post upcoming events and such there.
For anyone who is interested:
Tomorrow (Sunday) at 10 am Server is our normal RP event time.
If you are interested in taking part, or learning about roleplaying and how it can be part of the wider game come out for it! You will be part of a group escorting a smuggler with important information to Fort Trinity to help the Pact!
If you’d like to come, send me a whisper just before 10 tomorrow, and I’ll share the details. I will also make announcements in Legion guild chat for any who are watching there.
Lan – if you’ve been looking for wacky, you may have found it! We definitely have our moments in game!
Both you and your husband are welcome to contact us for grouping or just to be social.
I’ve sent you a Legion invite, so feel free to come check out the chat hub and see what we’re about!
synk – I don’t know of any guilds built specifically for that purpose.
However, the Legion (the guild that came about through this thread) gets dungeon groups together all the time. People are almost always patient and willing to explain the different dungeons. Just be sure to tell people you’re new to that path so they know to explain as you go!
Let me know if you’d like an invite. You can also check out our website in my sig.
Alternatively, if the guild doesn’t appeal to feel free to use the thread to try and find groups. If you need a guide for HotW P1 I’d be happy to help. I also have a decent handle on TA Up/Up.
Invites sent! Welcome Cobalt and fatbaldbloke!
You will find lots of help here if you have questions, and people who are willing to teach the finer parts of the game as well. We are mostly about having fun, so nope, you need not have a level 80 to join in.
If you’re ever worried about offending over Vent, pukitteno-talk is great for that. I’ve laid a line of curses or two that didn’t get broadcast thanks to that. Anyone in the chat can help you set it up.
Most important, if you ever have questions just ask!
Hi there Cobalt and welcome!
The Operation: Union project is the guild which developed from all the people posting in this thread as an easier way for them to connect. You are welcome to use the thread as a resource to contact with other players without any guild involvement.
If you are interested, we can send you an invite to the guild. We have no requirements for repping (displaying our guild tag in game), but when you do rep you will have access to our guild chat where you can try to organize groups for game content, ask questions and just chat with other players! You can also check out the website we have, the link is in my sig.
So, it is totally up to you, but if you would like an invite to the guild let me know and I’ll get that for you!
Belial and Espher, invites will be sent in a few minutes.
Hope you find groups to run with and have fun! We have no repping requirements, but I would suggest popping on to guild chat just to see what we are all about and to find parties.
Hi there Espher and welcome!
Would you like an invite to the guild portion of this? You’re welcome to use just the thread to find people, but guild chat can be a great place to find groups.
Welcome Moggy!
If no one has gotten to sending you and invite, I’ll be sure to send you one tonight.
Welcome to all the new Unionites!
Tainted, Hollow and Xan, I’ll make sure you have an invite when I get home tonight, if another officer has not getten there ahead of me.
Tainted: We all were new at one point, so no worries there!
Xan: you won’t need to create new toons to play with anyone here, but you are of course always more than welcome to run any toon you like.
Haha, that’s hilarious. I honestly don’t get why this forum likes to go down the whol e"OMG reroll Warrior" path so often. Warriors have a lot of weaknesses in PvP.
Now, Mesmer, Ele, even Guard for just being all-around viable I could see…
And yeah, this patch hurt a lot. Quickness and cats….
Sad to see you go Xsorus, your posts have been a wealth of information on how to get the best out of what is the Ranger class.
I still enjoy Ranger, and still have some success with my offbeat build. But I am also tired of dealing with too many usless slot skills and the often subpar pet.
I’ll be working on a Guard mainly for now, returning to my Ranger occasionally. I was amazed at the ease with which a level 5 guard could surf a zerg in comparison to my level 80 Ranger. I do miss how fast the Ranger can cover long distances with GS and signet speed boost, but that doesn’t help ikittenerg one bit.
Chopps, amazing idea. I wish I could join the group, but I will not be able to log at that time.
Have fun everyone!
PvE: whatever I feel like at the moment. Usually Raven/Owl, or 2 drakes.
For dragon hunting, two ranged pets.
Dungeons:
I almost always use 2 Drakes to spam blast finishers along with my short cooldown GS leap finisher. When needed, I will switch to Jungle Spider, Carrion Devourer for ranged.
WvW:
Roaming or small group stuff: Drakehound and Wolf. The control is too much to pass up.
Zerging: Raven/Black Bear. The bird can go in for a nice hit and get out, while AOE weakness and high vitality is great on the bear. Ranged or buff pets sometimes get the call in.
Choke-points: sometimes I will bring drakes for these, since the cones are too good if I can get them activated down a corridor or similar choke-point.
