Are those items still single use?

Hi,

I once bought those recipes ages ago. The idea of sharing those buffs is nice and I really like it. The material costs however look more like a face-slap from a clown than something to be meant seriously.

While reading through my recipes I found them again few days ago. And I wondered if they are still single-use items.

That is one of the reasons I don’t do pvp with my engineer.

Aside of our several ways to gain stability, we can put stunbreakers into our toolbelt. More than one. The ones i use barely have an animation and nearly no charging time. When your weapon or skill has a cool, effectful animation you would not recognize the engineer used any of them.

In addition, toolbelt allows us to use those skills mostly while in action (movment and/or skill execution). When your opponent was hard to catch, he saw your stuns coming. . Maybe you used the same rota too often?

On the other hand it feels like larocca is not interested in an explanation. He wants a nerf.

Function Gyro is 99,5% useless in PvE.

No. It takes some time to learn how and when to use it, but it truly is a gift in PvE. You can resurrect players far away, or double the resurrection speed. You can resurrect two people at the same time and even go into stealth while the gyro keeps doing his job. The gyro does not ask if there is an AoE in the way and it not runs away when the HP go down. Even if a partymember is downed inside an AoE, you can simply send the gyro to buy some time.

I use it mostly in fractals, dungeons and HoT maps. But again, it took me months to use it that way.

JP chests event-confusion

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Sometimes when I do the dailies and I miss one event, I do a JP as the chests also give an event success medal and they count to the daily. However, recently I noticed not all JP chests behave that way. Some give you an event success on opening the chest, others do not.

So I did an entire JP rush over the past 3 days and checked every official JP, which has a chest (except magus falls and WvWvW maps). Only looked if the opening of the final chest triggers an event completion.

Do accounts have "luck", and is it right?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

As people already noticed, a computer can not generate a true random-generator, the pharses about “luck” are not that true. The system tries to be as close as possible, whatever that means.

First of all, there are two types of processes in the game: server- and computer-processes. To keep the servers function almost 24/7/365 they already splitted up the work. We have authentification-servers, login-servers, we have world-servers and there should be (even if not on official lists) npc and item-servers.

On our computer, we do most of the calculation-process. This includes damage, jumping, and most of the drop-mechanics. As well as graphics, sound and tons of other stuff.

The far distance between both systems, we close with the internet-connection. As most of you have noticed, a road long enough to make some mistakes.

As you may figure out, our computers are very busy. They do tons of parallel processes, thanks to multicore it gets done in a part of a second. Although things go extremely fast, our computers still have to order the processes and solve them one by one – luckyly not visible for us. The assortment-system is mostly based on relevancy, but in the end, if you have two or more processes of the same relevance, it goes down to the process-ID. At this point, machines are stupid and irrational, because they always select the process with the lowest ID to execute first. Which ID a process gets depens on when it was created, so broken down to the basics: “birthright.”

Now if you take a look on the other posts of the people, this special condition should not exist xD. But it does exist inside our system.

I’m a simple man, with only basic knowledge, far away from understanding the game-mechanics in detail. But if you keep in mind what I wrote above (and appeared to you to be totally useless), you may think of a small connection between process IDs, account IDs, and many many other IDs and how we get random loot.

So to end this quickly. According to what I wrote, I do think some players are blessed with more or less luck, due to their IDs which however persuade the random-generators to be more helpful than usual.

~ here ends the theoretical stuff ~

On the other hand, it is a reflection of life. When we are born, noone of us knows where we will go. Some of us are born in rich families others in the poorest regions of the planet. Some can ascend, some can descend the majority remains where it started.

When we walk arround, even in the same society, we see people who are haunted by luck and people who don’t.

Back to GW2 I’m also playing for a long time now and haven’t seen one single precursor so far. I do not farm, which lowers my chances. But even if I ever get one by drop, I will give it away.

The lack of luck gives us great opportunities. We seek for knowledge and try to understand things to achieve our goals. I would even go far enough to say, luck blocks progression and innovation.

Is toughness still useless?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

It mostly depends in what you beleive.

One section beleives in phrases like:
“More dps, we just need MORE dps.”
“If you want to support your party, go dps.”
“If all do dps, mobs/bosses die quicker and we dont need heal and tank.”
“Everyone who plays not dps, cuts the other players.”
… etc. you get the point

As you may notice, these people only think of one thing and one thing only – damage. If you belong to this group or want to satisfy them, simply don’t go for toughness. If you die in 1-2 hits from everything, they won’t hate you. This still gives you nearly direct access to most activities. While support characters normaly have to prove themselves, you just link your gear and are respected instantly. He does damage, he is good.

If you go for solo-playing, many people go for survival-builds. Those include thoughness, and vitality and sometimes healing-power. The entire aspect is to stay alive as long as possible, for exploration issues, soloing content or tanking issues. Survival builds are a little bit selfish, as they normally not focus on helping others directly. Those improve your own buffs, your own heals, your own defenses. It makes excellent tanks, which are hard to kill. Toughness does a big job at this strategy. I’ve done several hero points in HoT and the difference between glascannon and survival is worlds. They may lack the damage output, but when there is no time limit, the enemy is dead for sure.

The support faction focuses on helping the group, either with buffs, tanking or healing. As you may realize, the first group does not really like us. We are an absurd anomality of what happens if you think too much. Yet without supporters, big events and complicated bosses cannot be done. Some of us use toughness, others go for vitatliy. Toughness has one major flaw, the aggro-mechanic. If your tougness is the highest in the group and you did a certain ammount of damage, the boss will love you literally. Thats why some people rather focus on vitality than toughness. If you move quick and your skills allow fast regeneration, dodging and blocking even that is not such a big deal.

I play tank for like 2-3 years now. First survival, now simple pvt stats. Of what I’ve noticed, more people play with toughness nowadays. Not the majority ofcourse. On the other hand it is quite hard to determine who is the majority. The dps fraction appears a bit mouthy, therefor you do hear a lot more from them than from the others.

Why do we have a Block List tab?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

The block list tab is awesome and I like it the way it is.

When I come across a person who deserves to be added to it, I first add them as a friend. Then I give them a nickname (e.g. goldseller, portalseller, fake gm, stupid comander, zerk-farmer … etc.) – some of these categories might make no sense to you, but the blocklist is for personal use. I play gw2 to have fun and not to bother with people I don’t get along with ^^. Once the nick is saved, I change them from friendlist to blocklist.

Hours, days or weeks later I may enter a group or guild which has a person inside I blocked before. I can just look up in the list why and decide if I risk another try or walk away. The goldsellers/fake-gm people I share with friends. I also have a few of the starwars 7 spoilers listed there xD.

Blocking people not harms them, it is not like reporting. Anyone happens to know if there is a limit of people you can block?

Whispers Bugged

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Happens to me from time to time as well. Becomes even weirder if you do not restart the client. If you wait like 5-10 minutes instead, the game automatically opens whispers with all persons you’ve been trying to whisper before. From that moment on, things work properly, but once you leave the chat window you re-enter again automatically. If you happen to be somewhere else than inside a town, this is a horrible situation – you simply cannot contorl your character until that ends. After another few minutes, everything works normal again.

guildbank dragrop lagg

When you use the guild-bank and drag-drop several items out of it, sometimes the item you moved last not shows up in your inventory. The slot is occupied by that item, but you cannot interact with it. The issue gets solved, once you move another item from the bank into your inventory. Then, the first one instantly becomes visible where you moved it and you can use it as intended.

Tis a minor bug, I got used to it over the past months. But it looks like one of those, ANet would fix within seconds, so I give it a try. Happy hollidays and keep up the good work with gw2.

Wintersday JP wrong instance

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Due to the limited instances, we experience the JP maps are all full sometimes. The problem occures when this happens and a cycle inside a map ends. Then all get ported to another map and things restart. However, if that new map is full too fast, some people from the old map get stuck in the old map.

This has some cool side-effects:
- no time-limit
- less users/obstacles the more time you spend in there

Also I want to mention, that some of my ingame options, e.g. autoloot got reset after the last update. Don’t think this was intended either.

And could you make the whole year wintersday-event? ^^

My engineer used to look like a warrior, I love cross-dressing between classes. The configuration I use on my engi atm, combined with the right dyes, looks like a heavy armor. I use:
- Breathing Mask Helmet skin
- Sneakthief Pauldrons
- Priory’s Historical Jerkin
- Sneakthief Gloves or Accursed Vembraces
- Studded Pants (the blue ones)
- Priory’s Historical Boots
Sadly I have no access to my computer or my screenshots atm, so you may have to look for yourselves. I always went with a red+gold (later red+white-gold) combination, which made me look like IronMan ^^.

EDIT: Found some old pics in an old forum, I used the priory gloves back then, which look a little clumsy, thats why I replaced them later.

Gaming Mouse?

in Engineer

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

I’ve met several players who use a multi-button mouse. They are said to be created for MMORPGs, usually have the shape of a regular mouse and (depending what hand you use) have a extra button-pad on the side, with up to 6-12 keys you can program. These go from simple key-binds up to complex combos, depending on what you prefer. Examples:
- Razer Naga
- Logitech G600 MMO
- Corsair Vengeance M95 (if you prefer a less linear design)
I’ve talked to engineers who have entire field-combos set on a certain key, others just want to have every skill accessible with the mouse hand.

Personally I like to have control of my character most of the time. The engineer, if used with kits, requires some speed but offers one of the most flexible playstyles I’ve encountered yet. I use a Madcatz R.A.T. 7, which is technically not designed for MMORPGs after all. Compared to the above mentioned models it only has 3 extra keys, which are accessible with the thumb. One with the tip and the other two horizontal towards the hand. I use one of these to deploy my elite-skill, which is the supply-crate obviously. The 2nd key is used for weapon swaping (the ^).

I have to admit that I swap weapons a lot and kinda fast – switchting between my weapons and my two kits. Making the use of a weapon-swap sigil necessary.

The third button is used for the tool-belt-1, the heal utility. Which in my case is a aoe-heal with ground-targeting. As I play tank support, it has to be acessible very quickly. The mouse originally was designed for shooter games, which gives me several options to adjust the shape, surface and even balance (due to some extra weights). For me it feels 100% fluent and I love the futuristic design. That is all I need. I play engineer for like two years now, and I enjoy every moment. Madcatz has also a list of other devices, some are even created for MMORPGs and offer more keys. But those come with a good price.

mapchat/lfg issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Open mapchat on any map and you get several adverts about guilds who are recruiting. Those are in different languages and for different kinds of players. I call it spam.

Some people repeat those adverts way too often, sometimes immediately after the first post. Most players use a standard chat-window, which has barely enough space to view two of these spam-blocks. If there is or was a discussion on the mapchat, you have to scroll or enlrage the window just to keep track. Or if you ask something, get an answer and if you did not read fast enough, it is hidden behind another advert.

I wont block those spammers, because they need a way to advertise their guilds inside the game.

-

When I open LFG I see mostly LFG messages which make sense. Few black sheeps however are:
> insulting another person to be a scammer (true or not, idc)
> advertising FREE Mesmerportal to … (but a fee is appreciated)
> selling a Legendary or Precursor, because they are afraid of the listing fee on TP.
> advertising dungeon-completion (legal ofcourse)
… etc.

I wont report most of them, because there is no other way in the game to do something like that. Some I block ofcourse, because the LFG automatically stops showing me groups with people I blocked – and I like that feature a lot.

The LFG works cool as it is, same with the mapchat. But the community has needs which should not be solved via those two functions.

Suggestion for the map-chat issue:
Give us a new chat-channel, with same functions as mapchat. Maybe a more informative color, how about yellow? Name it Trade or Community. Officially ban any kinds of adverts, from regular mapchat. Just inform people it exists and what it is for.

Suggestion for LFG issue:
Create a second LFG. Mostly copy/paste. Set a limit, 1 ‘event’ per account, maximum display time 1 hour. Instead of Instances let us select servers, instead of open world give us a public section (= all servers). Make a display box or something like that, where all messages in the category rotate. You see where this goes … .

-
As with my bug-reports, I’m certain this post will be ignored. We’ve been discussing this in mapchat in caledon forrest. We also discussed about HoT ofcourse – as everyone else. One person asked me, to write my idea here. I told him, it will be ignored. His answer: “I did not ignore you.” So I promised to give it a try.

I totally undestand why you made that “Only two mails at once”-rule, although it annoys me in every dungeon-run I participate in and everytime we are doing events in guilds. Maybe you will find another way one day, maybe not.

However if you plan to ban players for excessive mailing, keep in mind not all of us are goldsellers. Thanks and merry x-mas

damage chain

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Noticed a funny bug/effect on my engineers flamethrower. If I autoattack with (1) Flame Jet, I do hit 5 times in a row and every hit is a bit stronger than the previous one. The problem is, once a cycle is done, the chain not starts from the beginning, it starts right where the previous ended.

For example: If I start with 300 damage on first hit, the chain ends with 1200 damage on the fifth hit. If I use Flame Jet again, I start with 1300 damage and end arround 2400 or so. This keeps rising and rising, until i do a longer break (~ 1-2 seconds).

Before the update the chain did reset after every cycle. Now it only does if I do a longer break between.

I also heared some thieves experience similar situations with their Unload skill (pistol&pistol dual wield).

Does this work as intended?

We have the end of the year and I’m doing statistics and analysis – to overview the past year and make changes more visible. Therefore I do copy the guild-roster once a month with screenshots and write the data down line by line – what already is not nice.

At the moment I’m at month November and I have to mention, that the “Unknown” in the Roster makes things really annoying. At the moment I have to take all members with this as inactives for that month, simply because I cannot see any data.

What where you thinking? What is the purpose after all? I see the account name, the rank and as location is written “Unknown” the rest of the line is missing. I see no achievements, no class or any other useful data.

Anyway. I guess I’m one in a billion who actually has this problem, so I’m quite sure you will ignore it. At least it was worth a try.

Chat/Whisper chaos

in Suggestions

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

The chat-system in GW2 works pretty well, as long as you only talk to one person or in a group. When people try to whisper with more than one person simulanously, you get a lot of “oops wc”.

We can ‘move’ a special conversation to another chat-tab. But my chat-window is way too small for all those tabs. It is a temporary solution, if you even would call it that.

GW2 is a wonderful game and is a MMORPG, so what is so difficult in creating a chat system? Other games have little instant-messengers, which even allow to talk with people outisde the game. Lineage II (NCSoft) is a good example for this.

Use the friendlist as it already exists. When we rightclick on the name, let us whisper in a special box that opens. We can close the box by clicking on the x or the _ and reopen it either with a shortcut or by simply clicking on the name of the person. When we talk to more than one person, we see a list of names on the left side of the box (vertical) and right of it, the chat-log where we can write in. The person we are currently talking to, is marked and we can just tab through name by name.

Or something like that. Use your creativity.

Motar jam

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Engineer Elite Skill: Motar

This bug appers since the first day I use the motar. You keep updating and modifying it, but you never fixed the jam problem yet. What do I mean?

The motar works a bit like the granade kit, 5 skills but the (1) skill is like an auto-attack with no-reuse. So I should be able to spam it. However if I try to spam it, it causes a jam for all skills.

The only way I can use the motar atm is to wait till one bullet hits the ground before I click on the next skill. Else I can shoot max 3 bullets and then, all skills block for several seconds. They activate, the cooldown starts, but nothing leaves the tube. If I start the big one (5), happens the same.

If I keep hitting (1), the motar shoots 3-5 bullets in a row and then causes a jam again. Either make appropriate cooldowns or fix it.

Several people on Ring of Fire can no longer access their guildbanks via the NPC in Lion’s Arch. It only says, there is no storage. It doesn’t matter what rank and rights the players have.

After some tests, we noticed NPCs in other towns let us access the guildbank. Please take a look on that issue.

I’ve taken a small overview about your new instance-dungeon, looks really cool. However I didn’t find an EXIT yet. All dungeons have an exit at the first waypoint and especially the new ones have the ‘opened door’ icon over the minimap. This dungeon has nothing.

Luckyly reloging works to exit.

Fractal equipment boxes not working

As far as I understood the bags, they assort things you pick up. Changing armor/weapons is not effected. Same as if you have other exo gear in other bags, then make space and the exo-box and press ‘sort’. The items are not getting moved to that box, because you didn’t pick them up.

I have that bag and it works fine. When I do puzzles and farmings, I get all green gear into the green-gear-box, the other stuff gets filled into the others until they are full.

Dungeon self revival

Situation: When you are in party and doing a dungeon, you sometimes happen to die alone. However there is no chance for the others to resurrect you, in case of a longer bossfight. In good old times we were able to use the Waypoints all the time, that you blocked. So there was another idea to leave the dungeon and re-enter. This you blocked as well, so the smart-guy spawned as corpse at the entrance – very well.

Exploit: There is a way not to spawn as corpse and at least walk to your partymembers.

Basically leave the party so you leave the dungeon. Revive yourself at the nearest waypoint and do a quick relog to Character Selection Screen. Then just re-join the party and enter the Dungeon again. And – surprise – you spawn at the Entrance but alive and can walk to your (still fighting) party-members to aid them again.

Takes a little longer but works quite well. With a fast engine this takes only seconds.

indistructable siege (WvWvW)

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Normally it is impossible to create any kind of siege (like Trebs, Catapults, Arrowcarts … etc.) in the starting-zone on the WvWvW map. If you try to setup a blueprint, you receive a red error-message, so you cannot place it there. Very well.

How the exploit works?
Open a blueprint, move outisde the save-zone and throw the blueprint on the outer edge of the save-zone, where the [Determination] boon still is active. Make sure the building-site is nearly completely inside the zone and only a few cm are outside.

When you come with supplies, you cannot build it. But as a few cm of the building-site are outside the save-zone, you can come from there and build it up easyly. Once the siege is up, it can be used without restrictions. And it stands completely in area with invincibility-boon.

Would be nice if you could fix this asap

+1
Normally ANet not responds to any of our Threads, in my language board they refuse to even say hi – although it has been on page 1 for more than a week. “I don’t see it, it doesn’t exist” or so.

The only ‘good’ thing I noticed by now: By every new build/patch, the number of ‘victims’ increases. I have a dream, that one day we are 30 % of the community. Then they can no longer ignore us.

Keep up the good work.

(And YES, we already tried the trivial problem-solutions. Few of us even reinstalled windows some times or downgraded the frequency of their GC)

Knockback knockout

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Normally when people hit the ‘borders’ of a map, they get a message like “you hit strong …. move backwards”.

However If people click OK, stand still and relog, the Knockback is turned off. 9 in 10 cases people get stuck or ported away.

Fix it or change it. I keep posting these things, wether you ignore them or not is up to you.

EDIT: An issue I noticed recently. It is possible to cross whole maps with this bug. The programmers made an auto-teleport on each map to the gate where you enter the map.

However these guys or girls expect everyone to enter the map only one way. From the map which is closest with the level. E.g. there is a Map with level 50 and above is one with 35-45 and below 50-60. The game/programers expect us to come from the 35-45 map, what means the autoteleport is to that gate. If you enter from south and use the bug I mentioned above, you get ported across the undiscovered map to the northern gate.

(long text but I don’t know how to describe shorter)

Contested Waypoint (open world)

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Normally if you teleport to a contested waypoint, due to incorrect map-discription, you receive a message-box. It tells you the WP you wanted to access is currently unaviable and you will be redirected.

When you move a few meters, you get teleported to the closest non-contested waypoint.

Problem:
If you spawn at a contested waypoing and relog without moving, the auto-teleport is disabled. So you can move freely without getting teleported.

As it requires relog, it doesn’t work in WvW.

lethal jump survival

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: HnRkLnXqZ.1870

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

Theoretically it works. Requires repeating re-loging several times but in the end you are on the bottom. The only problem is, the programmers don’t like us to be there. So if you reach the bottom alive, you get automatically teleported into a cell of rata-sum-prison (no doors).

Appears to be funny at first, but I wouldn’t call this a solution.

lethal jump survival

HnRkLnXqZ.1870

There is a way to survive a jump which can kill you by 100 %. Works on any kind of cliff/hole/bottom-less-pit on open map.

How?
If you jump off, simply return to character selection screen while in mid-air. When you log back, you appear with full HP on the bottom.

I don’t think this is intended. Either teleport the players back or kill them when they do it.

+1 for the rata-sum jail solution
